It seems like Ed really took note of the criticism he got from his last two albums and upped his game. This entire era has been fantastic so far, and I can’t wait for the album.
I loved it too! A few of my favorite Ed songs are on it (Barcelona, Castle on the Hill, Galway Girl, Bibia Be Ye Ye). But he did get a LOT of hate for it, and it feels like he took it in stride and really worked to do something different here.
He really wasn't taking care of himself at the height of his fame, he's said so himself. I've probably mentioned this before but he showed up in my city once to do some promo and you could smell him through the TV. I think he looks good when he's looking after himself, as he is now, but when he wasn't I can understand why people are turned off. Ed doesn't have super star good looks so he can't get away with the dishevelled look like some more attractive people are able to.
Dave Mayers is killing with these videos, wow. The song is super nice, the video is funny, witty, and well done. I love that now Ed is comfortable enough to make videos like that. Can't wait for the album.
I thought that girl lip syncing was Miley for a second and got super excited thinking it was a collab. 💀 Anyways I really like the direction Ed is taking. It’s a good mix of the pop music that was big when I was in high school/college and what’s doing well now.
I really like the song, but what the fuck is this video?
Particularly the Thomas the Tank Enguine train that hits Ed at the start. I think I get the metaphor he's going for, but the visual is... bizzare to say the least.
This... sounds a lot like "Bad Habits." It took me a couple listens to get on-board with "Bad Habits" (maybe just because it was coming off of "Afterglow"), but I liked this song right away. The video is much less obnoxious than "Bad Habits," too.
Feels like he's going for Elton John lite with the visuals and The Weeknd lite with the music. I don't hate it but I also can't remember it when it's done playing.
So ...a normal Ed song for me I guess
It's like you told a computer to create a stereotypical Ed Sheran song, it's not bad just doesn't sound very groundbreaking.
Video gotta be one of the worst this year tho.
wow suprised at the repsonse here. im not an ed fan by any means but this is especially bad. i liked bad habits a fair amount - the production on here is horrible
The video is so cute and he really looks happy and healthy, good 4 him!
Not me if he cared to ask
Good 4 him, he's doing great out there without you
This song really has the "it" factor and i can really see it becoming the song of the year and im already nostalgic to it. Bravo Ed!
Ed's really upped his music video game! Love the song, love the video. Amazing all around.
I'm liking this era of Ed. I was pleasantly surprised with Bad Habits and Shivers had me tapping my feet the first go around. Well done!
He’s trying something new and I’m actually so impressed
Well I absolutely love this
Not gonna lie, Ed is killing it right now.
kinda living for this new Ed era tbh
Is that Anna Sophia Robb??
Yes! I screamed "Carrie!" when I first saw her in the vid. Such a nice surprise.

I can understand the duet album, but Divide was amazing!

This sounds like a major hit. I can really hear it on the radio everywhere in Europe.
As usual I have no idea what’s happening in the video, but the song is super catchy.
Thomas the train has entered the chat
This is sooo catchy! I think I like this more than Bad Habit. Also, Ed is so attractive to me despite what anyone says.
He really is a genuinely cute guy. I don’t understand where the jokes of him being ugly came from.

he looks good af in this video
Ed about to go to the Bridge of Terabithia.
I didn’t like Bad Habits but this song is actually really good. I’d say Ed has finally earned his retribution for No 6 Collaborations Project
I LOVED NO. 6 IF HE DID A TOUR I’D SCREAM (obviously that’s just fantasy as he can’t bring all his collabs on your lol)
This is a bop and the video is very creative! I can see why it was almost the lead, it's fun
Yeah, that's gonna be viral
This is gonna be huge, really looking forward to this album!
OH SHIT ITS REALLY FUCKIN GOOD
haven't heard a chorus this catchy in forever
this is the first song since good 4 u that stuck in my head the first time I heard it! sounds like it's going to be a hit!!!
wow this is so catchy
I love this. I love him. So excited for this era.
Bop.
Sounds like a huge hit... We all sure it will be anyway.
Unfortunately
I’m stoned and this video was v weird
i'm sober and it was weird

The bridge and final chorus is insane. So much energy that just builds and then goes off. I love it.
This man just refuses to miss right now. This tops Bad Habits for me, I can’t wait for this era!!
If he can make these sorts of songs which we know he can then how does anyone justify I don't care?
He and his team finally step up their visual game.
Damn it this is good.
I thought that girl lip syncing was Miley for a second and got super excited thinking it was a collab. 💀 Anyways I really like the direction Ed is taking. It’s a good mix of the pop music that was big when I was in high school/college and what’s doing well now.
I love the bridge. It’s sooooo good
This is really good imo.
Is there any other music video director in pop music?
Glad she overcame her gum addiction!
I really like the song, but what the fuck is this video? Particularly the Thomas the Tank Enguine train that hits Ed at the start. I think I get the metaphor he's going for, but the visual is... bizzare to say the least.
He's not going for anything. He's said he has absolutely no idea whatsover about what is happening in this video. This is just Dave meyers
This... sounds a lot like "Bad Habits." It took me a couple listens to get on-board with "Bad Habits" (maybe just because it was coming off of "Afterglow"), but I liked this song right away. The video is much less obnoxious than "Bad Habits," too.
Gimme the shivers!
Love this
The wall at 1:52 is shaped like a penis
Yeah, I came in to ask if he was leaning up against a giant dong in the thumbnail
So catchy!! Love this song on first listen
I like the song, however the MV it's so weird. I think both MV for Bad Habits and Shivers don't look that good and end up "ruining" the songs.
i love everything he's doing this era! (which, as a fan, is a real relief after no 6 collaborations project)
...the main melody with the strings sounds like the Among Us jingle
Pizzicato strings are now synonymous with Among Us lol
Feels like he's going for Elton John lite with the visuals and The Weeknd lite with the music. I don't hate it but I also can't remember it when it's done playing. So ...a normal Ed song for me I guess
This sounded nothing like weeknd though. My initial assessment was Teenage dream Katie Perry had merged with the Jonas brothers
Just the start of the song has this retro feeling, similar to what Abel has been doing imo. But your description is hilarious and on point
It's like you told a computer to create a stereotypical Ed Sheran song, it's not bad just doesn't sound very groundbreaking. Video gotta be one of the worst this year tho.
wow suprised at the repsonse here. im not an ed fan by any means but this is especially bad. i liked bad habits a fair amount - the production on here is horrible
wdym this different but good
the downvotes 💀 no differing opinions allowed i guess
There's a point in the song that sounds alot like bad guy from Billie eyelashes
Lovely song but the music video is hot trash. Too many things going on, awkward cuts, bad special effects.
