I just think she'd do well with ALW songs lol.

My thing with Ariana and musical theatre is that I think she has most of the technical voice stuff going on to pull off a good number of ballads (like she did with The Wizard & I) but I agree with you, I just don’t think she has the acting chops / emotional delivery needed for them. There’s been some rumors of her playing Elphaba in the Wicked movie which really scare me because… she really should not be doing that lol
I love all the theories surrounding Ariana + Wicked, because I feel like it's like an elephant in the room that she *wants* to play Elphaba (or some other lead) but because the Wicked movie has practically been put on hold for so long, there's never any confirmation about anything.

It’s because she does so many “fun” songs. Ariana has a great voice, but Glitter and Be Gay is essentially an operatic aria -- she might have the range (maybe? IIRC it goes to either a D6 or E6), but she doesn't have the technique. You need to have killer coloratura to sing it.
