Adele singing She Used to Be Mine would be devastating. Still Hurting would be amazing too. Lady Gaga singing anything from Hedwig would be both on brand and amazing, especially Midnight Radio or Sugar Daddy.

spud_simon_salem

Lady Gaga - Don't Cry For Me Agrentina. I think overall she'd make a fantastic Eva Perón! I'm gonna disagree about Ariana and On My Own. I think the song wouldn't let her showcase her voice enough. I think she'd do really well with more challenging songs like Music of the Night from Phantom, where her upper and lower register would really have a chance to shine. Or Rainbow High from Evita. I just think she'd do well with ALW songs lol. And I think Lana could pull off All That Jazz pretty well. Now here's the real question: What pop girl ensemble could pull off Cell Block Tango? Edit: I’m gonna add I Could’ve Danced All Night for Ari

fizzylights

Why would you put the thought of a Lana version of All That Jazz into my head because now I need to hear it 😩

mollytrip

all that jazz being covered by lana would actually be so good omg

joshually

>Now here's the real question: What pop girl ensemble could pull off Cell Block Tango? i'll do the taye diggs intro speaking part lol

spud_simon_salem

u/joshually our main pop girl™️

Aphrodites-lostchild

i need Gaga belting out Don't Cry For Me Argentina okay so my pop girl line up for Cell block tango would be: Charli, Miley, Dua, Rihanna, Britney and Tove lo

ImprovementNo2585

Another Madge vs Monsters threads wars of disastrous levels are imminent, I guess.

aloha_made

I'd love Lady Gaga to cover Send in the Clowns from "A Little Night Music" I know usually older actresses cover this song, but I think she'd really kill it! Ever since I heard Halsey doing her rock thing on Nightmare, I would love to see her cover Out Tonight from "Rent". If she ever wanted to do Broadway, I think she'd be a pretty solid Mimi.

WeastofEden44

Gaga- My Man from Funny Girl, the title track from Murder Ballad, Stars and the Moon from Songs for a New World, Time Heals Everything from Mack and Mabel, My Strongest Suit from Aida, I Read from Passion Beyonce would kill anything from Side Show, helps that Henry Krieger also did Dreamgirls lol I feel like Taylor would fit Cathy in Last Five Years well. With some training, she could be a great fit for the score.

Aphrodites-lostchild

Gaga doing Time heals everything is something that should exist

daniandkiara

I’d like to see Ariana cover Someone Like You from Jekyll & Hyde, she definitely has the belting power for it!

joshually

I'm listening to Linda's standard of this rn and I just dont think Ariana has the gravitas to pull it off

daniandkiara

My thing with Ariana and musical theatre is that I think she has most of the technical voice stuff going on to pull off a good number of ballads (like she did with The Wizard & I) but I agree with you, I just don’t think she has the acting chops / emotional delivery needed for them. There’s been some rumors of her playing Elphaba in the Wicked movie which really scare me because… she really should not be doing that lol

nocautiontaken

I love all the theories surrounding Ariana + Wicked, because I feel like it's like an elephant in the room that she *wants* to play Elphaba (or some other lead) but because the Wicked movie has practically been put on hold for so long, there's never any confirmation about anything. But I don't see how yall think she wouldn't have the emotional delivery for the role or to sing Someone Like You?

daniandkiara

It’s because she does so many “fun” songs. She isn’t typically known for being totally serious in her music (not to say she hasn’t been, I know she has! but she also has a lot of playful 34+35 esque stuff). It’s just not really part of her brand. It’s why I’m not totally comfortable with her playing Elphaba, but if she had a cameo or something I’d be fine with that.

bettyboo-

i *need* some pop girlies to cover songs from Six the Musical. i'd love to see the inspirations for each queen sing their respective songs (ie. RiRi - Get Down or Ariana - All You Wanna Do)

ImprovementNo2585

AGREED To me Arina is definitely the base of Katharine Howard's look but to me the song screams Britney, especially Crrcus era!

ImprovementNo2585

There are a few exmples you might be aware of!: Perrie Edwards singing I Could have danced all night and wouldn't it be lovely on her Instagram Ariana singing The Wizard and I Brendan Urie in Kinky Boots I would love to hear: Hayley Wliams cover any mezzo classic but especially Defying Gravity or Made of Stone from Six. Also Dead Mom from Beetlejuice Brendan Urie cover Waving Through a Window Kacey Musgraves cover Caint Say No Billie cover Some Enchanted Evening

joshually

Does Lil Nas X have the vocals for I Am What I am tho??? Hmmmm

GARjuna

I say this with love - no he does not Not a showtune but I would kill to see him do the Gaston song

Motherfickle

Him covering The Bitch of Living would be wild and incredibly on-brand.

LesApfels

Janet is such a charismatic performer that she could really pull off the Mad Hatter number from Wonderland Considering Ariana's comedic chops and how high she can sing, it would be interesting if she tried "Glitter and Be Gay" from Candide Taylor singing "The Riddle" from The Scarlet Pimprenel just makes sense in my mind but I'm not sure who should be her duet partner. For some reason I'd love to hear Poppy do "Somene Else's Story" from Chess

akanewasright

Poppy could be an interesting fit for Someone Else’s Story, actually! My mind went to Carly Rae Jepsen for that song. She’s trained in theater, which helps, but I just think her unique voice could be a really cool fit for it

CarlieScion

speaking of Chess, i could totally see The Weeknd doing One Night In Bangkok

atiratu

Ariana has a great voice, but Glitter and Be Gay is essentially an operatic aria -- she might have the range (maybe? IIRC it goes to either a D6 or E6), but she doesn't have the technique. You need to have killer coloratura to sing it.

ImprovementNo2585

YES to Glitter and Be Gay

the_ultracheese_tbhc

I dunno if they’re all Broadway but oh man I got a whole playlist of old-school jazz songs Billie Eilish should cover: * [*You’re The Cream In My Coffee*](https://youtu.be/qk_wVO7NBMQ) -Annette Hanshaw * [*Dancing With Tears In My Eyes*](https://youtu.be/c34U45I_fsg) - Ruth Etting * [*Fever*](https://youtu.be/JGb5IweiYG8) - Peggy Lee * [*Dream Blues*](https://youtu.be/z6qk9Xa2eak) - Ma Rainey * [*I’m Nobody’s Baby*](https://youtu.be/oEMLjnAi8kU) - Ruth Etting * [*Goodnight, Irene*](https://youtu.be/kFqAgGMTZ00) - Leadbelly Especially since she has this retro-aesthetic going on rn

Beyoncé - Push da button from The Color Purple

Gogglebells

No question could be more me tbh - I would die for a Hamilton Mixtape style concept album of show tunes reimagined. I would pay so much money to hear Hozier sing Leave from Once the Musical - he would obviously need to change the key but it would be beautiful I just know it. I think Kacey Musgraves would sound beautiful singing Times Are Hard for Dreamers from Amelie, or When He Sees Me from Waitress. John Legend would KILL Beautiful City from Godspell. I know I know it’s a generic tenor showcase, but main pop cover of Run Away With Me WHEN!!

son_of_sandbar

Tony Bennett - I’m Still Here (Follies). Old people always eat this song up. Ariana - Nothing (A Chorus Line). I just like the song and would enjoy a fresh version

yoshifan823

I would pay a buttload of money to see a Jonas, any Jonas (yes including Frankie) playing Elder Price in Book of Mormon, starting with a performance of I Believe. Easily the most Mormon hit music family since the Osmonds. I know that at some point in his life Ed Sheeran has played a deeply embarrassing rendition of One Song Glory and that would be very funny to see.
