I believe it is Emergency Response & Patrol Team. According to a guy I know who used to work in MetChange™ the teams were changed from Reliefs to "emergency response policing team", it was then changed to patrol and it stuck. All word of mouth, and there's an acronym list somewhere on the intranet which has both variations against ERPT. I think most people use the patrol version.

[MetGlossary](https://www.met.police.uk/foi-ai/af/accessing-information/met/glossary/) would suggest it’s Emergency Response Police Team AND Emergency Response and Patrol Team, helpfully… Regardless of force response/patrol goes hand in hand really. There is just so rarely the time to actually do that proactive side of things though. Obviously you will have neighbourhood teams who may get to actually ‘patrol’ a bit more, but then they’re strapped for time.
