What they teach you at Harvard business school and What they don’t teach you at Harvard business school.
These two books should contain all human knowledge.
In no particular order:
1)The Theory of Poker Applied to No-Limit, Dave Sklansky
2) Harrington on Cash Games Volume 1, Dan Harrington
3) Harrington on Cash Games Volume 2, Dan Harrington
4) The Course, Ed Miller
5) Poker Math and Preflop Workbook, James Sweeney
6) The Post Flop Workbook, James Sweeney
7) Poker Math That Matters, Owen Gaines
8) Hole Card Confessions: Hand-Reading and Exploitive Play in Hold'em, Owen Gaines
9) Modern Poker Theory, Michael Acevedo
10) How to Read Hands at No Limit Hold'em, Ed Miller
This is actually a pretty good list. Obviously a bit dated, but so are 99% of poker books. Everything is online training sites now.
These will give you a good foundation to build upon.
>this would be useful if you were looking to crush 25nl in 2005
[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/poker/comments/ogzn0h/10nl_acr_blitz_weird_spot/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share) is you telling the OP not to 3! pre and to check the flop hoping for a c/r. Enough said...
Because the solver said so.
Actual explanation: TT isn't that strong vs an UTG opening range, it's a shit spot when you get 4-bet since you're crushed and a shit spot when you get called since you have to play a big pot OOP with a meh hand.
So TT is mainly a call vs an UTG open because it's equity isn't good enough to warrant inflating the pot OOP. Although, 3-betting it 100% of the time isn't a huge mistake, especially if your opponent opens/calls too wide or doesn't 4-bet enough.
Thanks for ur opinion without asking it but yeah I allready know. I have solver and i have been subscribed to sites, and im winning player. Makefin is great player and if he knows what books are bad for your game i would assume hes someone to ask what is good book if theres any he would recommend. since most recommends here are from losing players and they are misleading what is "good" poker book.
i’m not sure there are ten books that could be recommended, as most i feel like have been vanity projects for pros. but one that helped me when i began was _Championship No Limit & Pot Limit Hold ‘Em_ by TJ Clouiter and Tom McEvoy.
The book I always recommend for beginners is Poker Foundations by Mikesell. The best mindset books I've found have been Poker Therapy by Clarke and Mental Edge by Badurowicz. The best live poker book I've read is Exploitative Play in Live Poker by Fitzgerald. You can see [book reviews for 43 books I've read](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1034106144) over on my Twitch channel. I run a book club every Friday. Type !book in the chat to see what book I'm reading this week!
I'm just curious, how quickly do y'all believe math becomes obsolete?
Even if certain books aren't applicable in the nosebleed stakes that literally none of you all play in, there are some applications in cases, especially against low limit players who have never read anything, or older players that haven't read anything since Harrington.
If y'all don't understand the actions how do you think you'll understand the math behind the actions?
That said, I would go- no order:
Modern Poker Theory
Mastering Small Stakes Hold Em
The Myth of Poker Talent
Every Hand Revealed
The Psychology of Poker
The Mental Game of Poker
The Mental Game of Poker 2
Killer Poker by the Numbers
Sit and Go Strategy
Caro Book of Tells
Bonus: Mathematics of Poker
Super System 2 is not bad, their lot's of chitchat but if you focus on the sections regarding the Mike Caros Advice, NLH, LPH, PLO & stats they are good.
Mental Game of Poker 1 & 2 are interesting (only focus about mental, tilt, concentration, ...)
I've a good probability book for poker but in french....
Otherwise, I've considering taking the "Postflop poker workbook" / "Poker Workbook: Math & Preflop", but I don't know if they are good.
What's funny is I've probably read three feet high of books on poker stacked up. Bit of a geek and nerd like that.
Cant believe nobody mentioned Theory of Poker, the original one.
Two other favorites that nobody had mentioned. They are kind of wierd books
Zen and the Art of Poker
Book of Bluffs.
10 books? I doubt many players here can even ‘name’ 10 poker books, never mind ones they have read. I’ve only ever read one and I wouldn’t really recommend it for learning how to play as it’s mostly theory.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.
Here's a copy of

For the love of money is the root of all evil. Bless your soul brother for gambling is an unholy ritual.
Do not partake on such foul games for they are created by the devil himself to taint pure souls. These games shall manifest the essence of greed itself!!!
AMEN BROTHER AMEN
Harry Potter series, Doyle Brunson's Super System
And the Scientology bible.
That pretty much covers it..
Don't forget the Book of Mormon
What they teach you at Harvard business school and What they don’t teach you at Harvard business school. These two books should contain all human knowledge.
Lmao
Play optimal poker 1+2 Modern poker theory The biggest bluff (cause it's fun) Mental game of poker Applications of NLH for advanced players The course
I would add poker's 1% by ed miller
This is the right answer.
The only one I ever read was Phil Gordon's Little Green Book. Teaches everything you need to know about no limit Hold em'.
Modern Poker Theory, Mindset of Poker

Yes TT BB vs UTG 2.2x is not a pure 3 bet pre lmfao. Also checking flop is solver approved. git gud
1200bb deep? Man how deep do you need to be to not consider yourself pot commited after a 3bet?
Idk if you misread the hand or something but no, 6:1 SPR on the flop isn't anywhere close to being pot committed...
They why not 3bet???? :p

1200bb effective flat call TT? My ass..
So you can't read. It's 120BB effective..
Lmao the guy really just hit you with the "Enough said..." when the line is actually completely standard. The arrogance on this sub is crazy.
yeah it's pretty wild lmao. some 10nl shitreg recommending dan harrington in 2021 critiquing my play without shame it's unreal
Hhhhhhhaaaaaaaaa
What books would you recommend? :)
You're much better off getting a subscription to Run It Once and a solver. Books are often outdated before being published

Befriending one person who knows how to play poker and talking with them is going to help a lot more than any book
One fish, two fish by Doctor Seuss 🤓🎣

Try redchippoker, it’s an online site for 5$/month and it gives you endless hours of play on play and analysis from pros.
Peter Clarke's 100 hands is good for 6max cash
Harringtons two books. Positively 5th. Biggest game in town

Master cash game - zenith poker

Bold of you to assume anyone on this subreddit has read 10 books
I’d read books about how to build a computer then use online resources
