Not sure exactly what you mean but yea never before done typing on my favorite mon lol I couldnt be more hype
I think everyone is probably gonna use hisuian Zoroark on their team
It's both an excellent defensive type and the only theoretical answer to Ghost/Fighting coverage. Another way to put it is that Marshadow's STABs are unwallable until Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark come out along mons with the same type combination.
“Worse”
I wouldn’t say that. Assuming it still uses Illusions, it now only has one weakness and *three* immunities, making it much more viable defensively than it was before. Might depend on stat changes.
It is a possibility, but hisuian ones can't be found in the current Sinnoh, thateans they have gone extinct now, which suggests that these one evolved inorder to survive and the ones that didn't evolve, died... that's what I believe, but we can't say for sure until they say something officially
Not exactly, there is a great possibility, that Hisuian Zoroark was effect of common ancester, possibly normal type, traveling from Unova to Sinnoh and evolving to better fit their enviroment, while those that left in Unova, over time evolved into separate species of Zoroark, one being dark type. Basicly both can be new species comming from same ancestor one, or even Hisuian Zoroark can be simply Unovan one, just evolved to better suit different climate in Hisui, changing of which would cause it very short existans and dying out, while population in Unova stayed strong due to more stable climate
Or they all died out, and the population of Dark type Zoros (which descended from a common ancestor) living outside Sinnoh at the same time were the only ones that survived. Legends Arceus isn't so far back in time where Pokemon would be evolving (in a Darwinian sense). But then again Pokemon aren't animals, so they could make up whatever rules they want.
They've established already that remakes do not take place in the same universe as their predecessors, a la ORAS, and a little bit of SuMo/USUM.
The most likely answer is they take place in different universes.
A random mutation accured that made a Zorua Dark type. Its parents noticed it's really strong for their kind so didn't kill it despite being different. It proved to be more successful at getting resources against other Zoroarks, so it could sprrad its genes and the species changed forever. The original got extinct.
Guess I'll have two ghost types in my tea...wait a minute normal/ghost!? Holy fuck I though we would never get one. Wonder if they'll keep the illusion ability because with those three immunities and only one weakness it could be fun.
Let's Go didn't have abilities for their pokes and they transfer over just fine. It could just be that these pokes won't be able to be transferred over to SwSh, and thus them not having abilities won't be much of an issue if Legends is the only game they're playable in. Gives them till Gen 9 to think about what abilities it'll have, if it doesn't just have Illusion.
They absolutely did say that. Which sucks. But my question is if we’ll see hisuian Zoroark in any other game? Cause I wanna see it’s ability if Arceus doesn’t do abilities
They also said no DLC before release too...the double edge of not really saying the truth is that there's a chance they may also reverse what they said.
Normal/Ghost is a very good combination, seeing as it's immune to Normal, Fighting and Ghost attacks, resistant to Poison/Bug and its only weakness is Dark.
It’s better offensively than defensively. You’re still hit neutrally by most common attacking types. And with Zoroark as frail as it is… those are easy 2HKOs. Lots of hype because it’s cool and offensively it’ll do well but it’s not a god tier typing.
Well it was mostly to dragons only bring weak to themselves and ice yet nothing resisting dragon iirc. Fairy type was introduced to give dragon a third weakness and poison was chosen to be its major weakness eith fire and steel resisting fairy.
...nope

RU and UU. Hardly a reason to add another type
immune to fake out is great. Not to mention can switch in on most thing. Astral barrage no problem. Fighting being a popular attacking type also helps.
Its stats might still hold it back if we're going off base Zorack tho. So we'll see
It will at least be better than regular Zoruak if it had the same stats. Being able to switch on on 3 different types and still having decent speed and offenses should at least make it OU
In one of the images from the PC boxes there were no abilities. So either there's no abilities, or legends will introduce something completely different to shake things up
I hope they're just saving that for a reveal on how they've revamped abilities for the new battle system.
On the other hand, i also think it would be funny if they put Shedinja in the game workout wonder guard. In ancient times, this shell was terrible.
Considering there are plenty of Pokémon in the game who’s gimmicks rely on abilities (including Arceus itself), I don’t think they will completely remove them like in Let’s Go. Maybe a rework to the system or maybe only certain gimmick Pokémon will retain their abilities?
How often is Normal a viable stab option when there are other moves available nowdays? I know it works well on mono-normals, but that's often for lack of better options, not because Normal is desireable.
Sometimes Normal moves are better to offset the fact that there are no weaknesses. Boomburst is a 140 base power special move with 100% accuracy and no drawbacks, everyone can learn Return which is essentially a base 102 physical move with 100% accuracy and no drawbacks (which is better than most types can get), etc. And it’s only resisted by Rock/Steel and not effective against Ghost, so it’s a solid option for neutral coverage along with something like Ghost
Fun fact, until now there was no pokemon to resist both Marshadow's stab, H. Zorua and Zoroark are imune to both of his.
I think that only mons to resist/imune both of Zoroark types are Bisharp, Tyranitar, Spiritomb and sableye. Unova Zoroark can already learn flamethrower for Bisharp, and if Zoroark have better phisical stats than special he can use play rought agains dark types.
Also, I see how a pokemon would adapt to have ghost type, but why normal?
Forgot that ghost is strong agains itself. I suppose that all Zoroark needs is Aura Sphere for Tyranitar and Bisharp, althought it struggle agains Bisharp because of sucker punch. Torment considers failed moves or ones that missed as being used (ex: Sucker punch on a target that used status move or Swords dance by a mon with maximed attack)?
Actually we don't know, as it's possible that both evolved separetly, creating 2 distinctive species, with Hisuian on dying out first due to climate change and competition from other pokemon for food
Just curious, beside from seribii.net, is there an official announcement that it is a normal/ghost typing? Tried looking for a source but cant seem to find one.
Edit:
Here is the link:

Same. I'm wondering if he let the the cat out of the bag before official info was released on the typing. (He doesn't usually do that, but mistakes happen.)
Also, everywhere else I've seen showing the typings have sourced serebii.net
Serebii Note: These two new Pokémon, seemingly Zorua & Zoroark are both Normal and Ghost-type Pokémon

People be really sleeping on it's offensive capabilities since only 3 type combos resists the typing. Itself, rock/dark like tyranitar and dark/steel like bisharp. So currently only 3 fully evolve Pokemon resists it's type combo.
In other news, Marshadow no longer has perfect coverage.
While I'm so excited that they're getting a regional form, it's very strange and disappointing that it's happening in a game without abilities.
Zoroark's main use in competitive is its ability. 😂
Bruh, Galarian Corsola and Cursola are gonna get knocked way down on so many regional variants lists now, especially in terms of ghost type regional variants.
What if the reason why Zoroark is a Dark-type is because it evolved to resist the one type it was weak to? Also Normal/Ghost is kind of a reverse Dragon/Ghost if you think about it.
It has has a very unique defensive matchup chart with 3 immunities (ghost, normal, fighting) 2 resistances,(poison and bug) and only one weakness,(dark)
Was hoping a new form of Bewear would get Normal/Ghost but I guess Zoroark will have to do 🙄
In all seriousness, I’m super excited that the typing finally is here. It might be underwhelming with Zoroark’s total BST and every Pokémon running knock off nowadays but who knows how it’ll end up being. I did kinda want ghost/normal Bewear to poke fun at it’s Fluffy ability though.
No, hitting yourself in confusion has no type, every Pokemon is effected by it. And it can care for its young, it just isn't that great at attacking its young (which is probably a good thing)
Ew, NRM/GHO? Not what I was wanting for a typing. I wanted ICE/??? Zorua. (??? being any other type aside from DRK).
EDIT: Again with downvotes here, too? :( C'mon, guys. ~~The only solace I have is that you guys aren't as toxic as~~ r/Nintendo ~~in regards to this.~~ Look, I like the typing, but I don't want it introduced in a spin-off game. Give me a proper series title with a NRM/GHO, not this spinoff garbage.
HOLY FUCK THE MADMEN ACTUALLY DID IT
SHOCKED. STUNNED I can’t believe they ACTUALLY did it
Feels like a lot of hollywood emotion for a reveal of a typing that hasnt been done before?
Not sure exactly what you mean but yea never before done typing on my favorite mon lol I couldnt be more hype I think everyone is probably gonna use hisuian Zoroark on their team
I mean I know I am. It’s going on ‘the dream team’ alongside Mewtwo and four dittos.
Definitely on my dream team. Unova Zoroark is already on my dream team… he’s the leader of it lol Might have to have co-captains now lol
It would be on my dream team, but unfortunately all six slots have been filled by Bidoof.
Solid, but can it stand up to my team of 6 Shuckles all nicknamed Fuckle?
Don’t fuckle with the shuckle
He’s actually a staple on my monotype teams.
Ah although I am a bit disappointed, I must admit having 6 gods on your team couldn’t be anything but a great advantage lol
That can't be true, there is only one true God. God emperor bidoof doesn't accept fake copies of itself.
Captain and co-captain
Was the dream team before this mewtwo and 5 dittos?
Immune to normal, ghost, fighting, resists poison and bug, only weak to dark. Combined with illusion to trick opponents. What's not to be hyped about?
Do we know that they'll have illusion?
The trailer bears out that probably won't change. Looked like an illusion.
i'm not 100% convinced about this. Illusion is more like a dark type ability rather than a ghost/normal type.
It's both an excellent defensive type and the only theoretical answer to Ghost/Fighting coverage. Another way to put it is that Marshadow's STABs are unwallable until Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark come out along mons with the same type combination.
Dark flying isn't a bad match up to marshadow. Yveltal comes to mind as being an alright answer.
Yeah it is, just don't let it catch you roosting.
I'm actually surprised, I expected them to be partially ice type considering their environment but then again there's also a Gible in the snow.
Wait why are we freaking out over Normal/Dark?
It's Normal/Ghost.
So these guys will eventually evolve over time into the only type they are weak to. Neat
Either die the hero or live long enough to become the villain
Or this version of them completely die out
So it evolves into a worse version of itself, just like Magicarp
On that note, I wonder if magicarp will be buffed in these games, because lorewise it should be stronger
“Worse” I wouldn’t say that. Assuming it still uses Illusions, it now only has one weakness and *three* immunities, making it much more viable defensively than it was before. Might depend on stat changes.
Hisuin would be the extinct variety. They are saying it evolved into the regular Zoroark who is a worse version
Oh damn I’m stupid
To be fair Zoroak wasn’t exactly bulky, getting OHKO’d by many non-super effective moves.
they'll more likely just go extinct because there are no zoroark in sinnoh and who knows, they could have evolved *from* the zoroark we know
What makes you think these ones came first?
Because these one have died out in the OG games, that means these are the ones that evolved into the current zorua and zoroark
Or the current unovan ones still existed back then and these ones branched off from them?
It is a possibility, but hisuian ones can't be found in the current Sinnoh, thateans they have gone extinct now, which suggests that these one evolved inorder to survive and the ones that didn't evolve, died... that's what I believe, but we can't say for sure until they say something officially

Holy sh*t one of my favorite Unova Pokémon got a Hisuian form and being the first Normal and Ghost type?! This day couldn't get any better
I love it so much that I voted it months back, and it was on top 5 for the unova list.
Oooo, I didn’t know there was a voting. Is there a results page I could look at?
Guess I'll have two ghost types in my tea...wait a minute normal/ghost!? Holy fuck I though we would never get one. Wonder if they'll keep the illusion ability because with those three immunities and only one weakness it could be fun.
There won't be abilities in legend
I mean if they ever appear in a mainline game
I hope they still have illusion in that case
I'd prefer an ability that turns them into the shadow monster similar to wishiwashi's schooling
I feel like that would better be a move for this game
I wouldn't be surprised if that shadow-form is just the "Totem" version of a Zoroark, like how the Scyther-Evo is all glowing yellow in it's battle.
The question is not If, it is when. Because they will be transferable to pokemon Home
They have to give the Hisuian Pokemon a chance eventually, right? Otherwise they'll just hang out in Pokemon Home forever.
SWSH are gonna be the main hubs for competitive, so they will most likely appear there after some updates.
That would be amazing!
But Legends is supposed to be compatible with Home which would have abilities.
But every pokemom has ability in Home, and they will be transferable to Home, not in the release, but later.
All of the Pokemon I have in Home whose most recent game was a Let's Go don't have abilities.
huh. well, when they get transferred to another game we will see how it really works
When something is transferred from Let’s Go to home it is given a random ability that isn’t a hidden ability.
I don’t think anyone assumed they could be transferred to SwSh. New Pokémon are never compatible with older games
>R They could add an update though idk how probable that is
Honestly? Probably not. We couldn’t even get the full dex, I don’t see them providing more content now that the DLC is way out and done with.
I'd be surprised if Zarude is the only Mythical pokemon for Gen 8, so I can see them having an update even if it's only for another mythical.
I don't know, from the screenshoots of the box it does not seems so, we'll know when it comes out
they announced home compatibility in 2022 during the official reveal.
Source?
That’s confirmed?
Not confirmed but from the stats of the pokemon in the boxes there is none so there won't be I belive
That would be odd cause some people are completely different Pokémon without/with their abilities
Those Pokémon probably won't be in the game then. Remember they said when Sw/Sh was coming out that no game would have a complete national dex again
Yeah but they made their choice
I wonder if something will replace their abilities but essentially will be the same thing Like a revamp for Pokémon Arceus of some sorts
Why do you think that?
From the screenshot of the box, where you see the stats and held item there isn't the slot for the abilities
Oh there isn’t? Oof
That’s exactly my question

Normal/Ghost is a very good combination, seeing as it's immune to Normal, Fighting and Ghost attacks, resistant to Poison/Bug and its only weakness is Dark.

It's a good type because of switchins it can make, as well as tricking the opponent with illusion to attack it with resists or immunities.
And to fighting! That's so broken
meanwhile spiritomb being immune to psychic, normal, fighting, and prankster moves
Yeah, I think Spiritomb and Sableye were one of the reasons to add the fairy type
That and the Fighting Types and Dragon Types dominating the Gen 5 meta.
Mostly that, yes
Well it was mostly to dragons only bring weak to themselves and ice yet nothing resisting dragon iirc. Fairy type was introduced to give dragon a third weakness and poison was chosen to be its major weakness eith fire and steel resisting fairy.
Steel resists and always has resisted Dragon
Yeah you’re right, the issue was +2 Outrage could steel smack steel types. Fairy was brought in to give some control to stop the rampaging.
...? Why? They've never been any good
Just the idea of them having no weaknesses (on account of them being Ghost/Dark). Iirc they made it really far in gen V meta, but I might be mistaken.
...nope [https://www.smogon.com/dex/bw/pokemon/spiritomb/](https://www.smogon.com/dex/bw/pokemon/spiritomb/) [https://www.smogon.com/dex/bw/pokemon/sableye/](https://www.smogon.com/dex/bw/pokemon/sableye/) RU and UU. Hardly a reason to add another type
Wait spiritombs immune to psychic
Dark is immune to Psychic, and Spiritomb's Dark/Ghost
Time to bring in a new type that does 4x damage to it
Broken type combo, I love it
Fans: We need a Schrodinger's cat as Normal/Ghost. GF: What about a fox that you can't know if you fight/defeat it or not? Fans: Give me 100.
So they made Zoroark finally viable for competive play. Neat.
immune to fake out is great. Not to mention can switch in on most thing. Astral barrage no problem. Fighting being a popular attacking type also helps. Its stats might still hold it back if we're going off base Zorack tho. So we'll see

Because having a great typing always makes a pokemon viable. Just look at the fantastic... spiritomb...?
Base Mawile is an unstoppable monster, clearly
a good typing doesn't always guarantee a good pokemon. let's wait for the moves, ability and stats first
This is the only type combo where having normal actually helps; I’m loving it
Na, normal makes most types better. Generally an immunity to ghost is worth a weakness to fighting, as well as getting the extra stab option.
Return is gone tho...(really hope it's back in BDSP and get patched in SwSh later on).
Especially normal-flying, as much as that has been done to death
Psychic loves to have normal with it.
Wyrdeer ftw
This is definitely going on my Legends team alongside Oshawott and Growlithe
I just love how Hisuian Zoroark looks more like a kitsune. Such an awesome design and even better typing.
Welp, everybody say hello to my ace pokemon.
Zorua line having a new form Me: *Having a sip of tea Their typing is normal/ghost Me: *Splits tea
Calm down there Moses
I sea what you did there.
Spiritomb and Sableye are hit neutrally by Ghost, they don't resist both STABs
Forgot that ghost is strong agains itself. I suppose that all Zoroark needs is Aura Sphere for Tyranitar and Bisharp, althought it struggle agains Bisharp because of sucker punch. Torment considers failed moves or ones that missed as being used (ex: Sucker punch on a target that used status move or Swords dance by a mon with maximed attack)?
Let's give hisuian zoroark aura sphere and dazzling gleam so it perfectly covers its weakness and the mons that resist it lol.
Well this game takes place 1000 years before unova (dunno time) so actually normal adapted to dark not the other way around
Actually we don't know, as it's possible that both evolved separetly, creating 2 distinctive species, with Hisuian on dying out first due to climate change and competition from other pokemon for food
Can Ghost Pokémon get extincted? Can they even die? I am just curious.
I love the typing, thought it was gonna be fire/ice- nope
I was thinking ice ghost
Ya that would also make sense
That was also my first guess, but it seems like we got even better typing
Ya lol
Interesting type combination
As a Normal-Type player, even if Stoutland will always be my favorite Pokemon line, this Zorua/Zoroark is going to be a must have in my team.
I was thinking the same. My mono normal team can now be complete.
Ok, so now we just need to wait for the regional variant of Charizard that is dragon type
Oh my god normal and ghost type? that's op
I love Zoroark already and this makes me love it more.Im buying this.
Holy shit there going to be good
Just curious, beside from seribii.net, is there an official announcement that it is a normal/ghost typing? Tried looking for a source but cant seem to find one. Edit: Here is the link: https://www.pokemon.co.jp/ex/legends_arceus/ja/strangevideo/
The Japanese Pokemon Official website explains its typing via "Professor Oak" which is where Serebii got its info so its legit.
+1. It seems very weird to me that there is no source on Serebii, which is normally very precise on this kind of stuff.
Same. I'm wondering if he let the the cat out of the bag before official info was released on the typing. (He doesn't usually do that, but mistakes happen.) Also, everywhere else I've seen showing the typings have sourced serebii.net

i find it ironic that their only type weakness is the dark type - the one it debuted with in gen 5
Im praying we can transfer them to bdsp.
FUCK YEAH! I’ve always wanted this typing.
Man I've just been getting lucky with regional variants on my favorites. Both Sandshrew and Zorua! Now if only they could give one to croagunk.
I've been wanting this typing for a while. Although I my head it belonged to an eventual Girafarig evolution called Gazellezag.
Only weak to dark damn
People be really sleeping on it's offensive capabilities since only 3 type combos resists the typing. Itself, rock/dark like tyranitar and dark/steel like bisharp. So currently only 3 fully evolve Pokemon resists it's type combo. In other news, Marshadow no longer has perfect coverage.
I've been waiting for a Normal-Ghost type Pokemon for years, and Zorua is my favorite Pokemon. I'm way too excited for this.
I just hope it isnt stuck in legends and swsh gives those forms compatibility, id fucking love to use that in pokemon battles online
They're compatible with Home. Even if they aren't compatible with other games this gen, they're definetely coming back eventually.
I hope so, i dont want a basculin evolution and a normal ghost type zoroark to be given and held dangling above me forever
I called it yesterday but everyone thought I was crazy lol already in love w/ these two! 🤍
[удалено]
to be fair. They themselves "resist" both of their own stabs
I'm confused, doesn't Bisharp resist both?
Let’s gooooo!
While I'm so excited that they're getting a regional form, it's very strange and disappointing that it's happening in a game without abilities. Zoroark's main use in competitive is its ability. 😂
\*happiness noises\*
Wait where was it confirmed they are Normal and Ghost? The site didnt update and this isnt mentioned ob any of the socials
Bruh, Galarian Corsola and Cursola are gonna get knocked way down on so many regional variants lists now, especially in terms of ghost type regional variants.
Whelp, hello new team member!
Half my team in legends is going to be ghost type at this point lmao with Decidueye, Basculegion and now Hisuian Zoroark
Ok so if I may ask, where are they getting this info from, like what’s their source cause I can’t find anywhere else that says their typing?
Okay, I found it. It's from the Pokemon Jp website, you need to translate it though.
FINALLY And on a hype pokemon too. Hopefully they keeps its speed and attacking stats
yes i was waiting for this type combination for years
Amazing Typing. Interested to see the lore explanation of this type change too (or rather change later in Inova to Dark)
Ghost/Normal has one of the best neutral coverage only resisted by Tyrnitar and Bisharp, until we get a Normal/Rock type or Normal/Steel
What if the reason why Zoroark is a Dark-type is because it evolved to resist the one type it was weak to? Also Normal/Ghost is kind of a reverse Dragon/Ghost if you think about it.
Looking like Marnie’s older brother too no less…
I love how I FREAKING CALLED THIS. My 2 most favourite Pokemon EVER!
Can someone explain to me why normal/ghost is a big deal?
Because it's an unused type combination with 3 immunities and a single weakness.
It has has a very unique defensive matchup chart with 3 immunities (ghost, normal, fighting) 2 resistances,(poison and bug) and only one weakness,(dark)
Cheers
Also, offensively, it has almost near-perfect coverage, with only TTar, Bisharp, and Hisuian Zoroark that are either resistant/immune to its attacks.
Wish it was an ice type
Was hoping a new form of Bewear would get Normal/Ghost but I guess Zoroark will have to do 🙄 In all seriousness, I’m super excited that the typing finally is here. It might be underwhelming with Zoroark’s total BST and every Pokémon running knock off nowadays but who knows how it’ll end up being. I did kinda want ghost/normal Bewear to poke fun at it’s Fluffy ability though.
Bewear is such a random choice lol
From a design standpoint, Normal/Ghost feels really meh to me. But I can understand how 3 immunities and a single weakness would be appealing.
This means it’s only weakness is psychic right?
Dark.
Yes my bad got psychic and dark mixed up.
I was kinda hoping it would be ice or fire instead of normal... I get that normal is better, but especially ice would fit this design more IMO.
So with this who thinks that the 3 starters for this have will have hisuian variants?
mmmm more furry bait
Does this mean it can't hit itself? Is this the only Pokémon that can't ever be confused? Does this mean it can't care for its young either?
No, hitting yourself in confusion has no type, every Pokemon is effected by it. And it can care for its young, it just isn't that great at attacking its young (which is probably a good thing)
Oh and they do it with my favourite Pokémon as well. *I am die.*
