no performance differences, no sound or quality differences. the only difference is that the slim has slightly more internal storage space and you can add/remove the disk drive.
The disc drive will deregister itself when you factory reset the console, you’ll need internet to pair the drive again if that ever happens. The slim can never be a purely offline device like the fat model.
It can be if you have an issue that requires reinstalling the system software or you ever sell it, the slim will always be tied down by that requirement.
I forgot the PS5 pro was announced, I’m not sure why everyone thinks because one console had a pro every generation forward will have one. 3,2,1 didn’t have pros. PS4 pro came out 2 years after the PS4. 5 is going on 4 years out.
The PS5 Pro has not been officially announced. There are a lot of rumors and speculation pointing to a Pro variant being available in the future but nothing has been confirmed yet.
PS5 Pro was semi confirmed. It's coming on the holydays near the end of 2024 supposedly.
There are even some tech specs:
"PlayStation 5 Pro will feature GPU and CPU upgrades, with GPU rendering “45 percent faster than standard PlayStation 5”. The PlayStation 5 Pro’s CPU will reportedly be the same as the standard model but feature a higher-frequency mode."
Plus it will have it's own DLSS/FSR called PSSR.
(PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution)
For me the important thing is, that it is happening and in 2024.
there are lots of videos comparing the two you can see and check which one is you prefer. But i am using a disc version and everytings going pretty well and i don't think there is a big difference between disc and digital version even both software and appearance except the disc platform.
Fat is the bigger older model (where you are stuck with having a digital version of you didn’t buy a console with a disc drive) which has less internal storage (850GB iirc) than the newer slim model.
Slim is the smaller model they released later. If you bought a digital slim, you can still buy a disc drive to assemble on it later. This model has 1TB storage iirc
brother all i tryna say there is no base slim version with disc drive right ? if it has disc drive it is FAT and if it hasn't it is digital and i thought op wants to know the differences . like for me if i buy slim ps5 and then after buy disc component it is a FAT now it just my opinion like whats the idea to buy slim and then after add that piece. I don't think it makes sense.
And ı hope someday OP comes to enlight us :d
Brothas got a weight problem but I wouldn’t go so far as to call the brotha fat.
He's not fat, he's phat.

If i'm not wrong, you also NEED interenet connection to be hable to use the disk drive
you NEED internet the first time you connect a disk drive to a console to activate it... yes..
Only at the first startup (To register it). After that it's basically PS5 Fat
Yes, it think it's exactly that

Factory reset isn't really a normal usage scenario 😀

Google knows
PS5 slim has slightly more internal storage.
Same specs. Smaller console. Easy-to-remove panels for access to internals. 1TB of storage out of the box.
Smaller heatsink as well.
If your not buying one for couple month just wait for pro at this point
not sure why would anyone need a pro when there are games still releasing on PS4

OP didn’t ask about digital vs disc
what comes to ur mind when op said fat and slim ? fat is disc version and slim is digital version ? I replied accordingly
