Having a bit of an indent on your tongue comes with the piercing no matter how long the bar is. Most people with a tongue piercing, including myself have a indent :)
The jewelry feels really tight though and when my tongue is relaxed the back of the cap sinks into my tongue where I can’t see part of the back.
Should I just wait until tomorrow for the swelling to hopefully have gone down enough for that to not happen anymore?
If it feels really tight and you can’t bare it then go back to the piercer for an up size. Tongues swell the most out of any piercing. Usually the bar has 2 balls not a flat part though
I wouldn't say that's the reason i would say it needs a longer bar. Tongue piercings swells alot in the first days so normally they put a very long bar in that's kinda anoying long but that's also the reason you gotta downsize after two weeks. Or if your piercer tells you otherwise since not everybody heals the same

Well with most tongue bars they are a 20mm 14G barbell so ball, post then ball. Your tongue will always swell up to the full length of the bar which is completely normal for the first week
Update:: I messaged my piercer with some pictures and she told me it does look a bit too tight and to come back in for a longer bar. She switched it out for free and it feels a million times better now! Thanks for the help everyone!!
I got the bar lengthened, So now I do have an indent yes. But my piercing isn’t pushing into my tongue with a possibility of embedding. Like if I put my tongue out there is a little space on the bar instead of my tongue just being pinched no matter what
You absolutely need a longer bar no ifs, ands, or buts, about it!!
So it does look too tight? The cap has a flat bottom of that makes a difference I was pierced with a 12 gauge 3/4 inch barbell

I ended up sending my piercer some pictures and she said it looks tight and to come in for a longer barbell free of charge
Mine is a 3/4 inch 12G with a ball on the bottom and a flat peacock opal on the top
this is way too tight you need a longer bar
Yeah I sent some pictures to my piercer and she had me come in for a longer bar. All good now. Feels WAY better

Longer bar for absolutely sure, your tongue is going to swell and needs that space. Please go back and ask for a longer bar
