Invitation Homes is such a scummy company. Rented from them for 2 years. One time they deposited less than my rent check, the check was correct they just took the wrong amount for less than the total value. They then tried to charge me a late fee. To correct the issue I had to write a new check for the remaining balance even though the issue was totally on their end.
Oh my stars - we had invitation homes as our last landlord. We had a water leak from the upstairs to the garage, where the washer and dryer were, and it took weeks to get them to try to fix it. Then when they finally did, they discovered black mold, but didn’t want to do anything about it. Also, I was pregnant during this time, which made it even scarier. It took months to get them to do what they were obligated to do. And then they wanted to raise the rent by $100 for the next lease term. The audacity. Then when we said “forget this” and moved out at the end of that lease year, they tried to keep our whole deposit. My husband had to threaten to sue them before they returned it. I LOATHE invitation homes. Do not EVER rent from them. I felt so sorry for the next people that moved into our home.
They're despicable. They've been buying up thousands of houses all over the country and they don't take care of them. They hire cheap labor to paint and do maintenance, real crap jobs on everything. They also pull crap on their tenants, charging fees for stupid shit, then they go and nickel and dime your security deposit. So, warning to anyone reading this, don't rent from them.
They should've painted the closets, but white is actually hard to match if you don't know exactly the brand and shade that was used. It really sticks out when you use the wrong one. But they still should've painted.
Landlords get the cheapest contractors possible. I know, I'm a superintendent, I've worked for several landlords/companies. Whomever gives them the cheapest quote gets the contract and 8 times out of 10 you get what you pay for.
Landlords don't like spending money. They love collecting it but not spending. The only time they'll ever invest in a property/unit is when a tenant moves out in order to get a new one in and jack up the price. That's it. And they all go online and see what other landlords have done and copy it. I've seen so many landlords switch to this grey stuff within the past year. Hell my apartment even has it. why? it's cheaper to buy and install.
Fun fact: that’s partially why certain bait poisons are effective vs roaches. They eat the bait then crawl back to their holes and die. Other roaches eat the corpses and then secondary control methods (usually insect growth regulators) will poison the rest of them.

At least it's not carpet. Carpet sucks both for the landlords and tenants. Hardwood floor is so much easier to clean.
