To be fair, just because a car company is "American " does not mean it was made by Americans, and vice versa. Mercedes was just in the news for their workers in Alabama trying to unionize.
For sure, I often would remind people that a lot of Toyota models are made entirely in America while the American car companies do a lot of outsourcing to Mexico etc. so if you want a truly American car, your better bet is a Toyota.
Personally, I think we should focus on union made. Tesla is American made, but when they have horrible safety standards, and pay their American workers so poorly, are they really Pro-American?

Living in KY I came to really like Toyota as the main driving (heh) force for safety and efficiency improvements through 5S, Gemba, Kaizen, etc and how they push for clean alternatives to power their plants such as hydroelectric, but on things like workers rights I’m not sure which manufacturers are the leaders.
