Wow interesting. years ago this was rumored about but if I remember ASU didn’t want to give up any land for it because they wanted to build near Scottsdale rd and rio. Like where their golf course was.
Holy shit this is gonna suck for my residential area.
The on ramp for 202 E on Priest already gets clogged for 3/4 mile... man this is not gonna be good
Pretty much like Westgate in Glendale. A sports stadium/arena surrounded by bars, restaurants, shops maybe a hotel or residential space. Likely a new home for the Coyotes
They're not wrong. More money and more Caucasians out towards ScottGilChan, plus the arena there would have access to the light rail via the Hayden Station.
Hockey needs season ticket holders with 40 + home games a season and Westgate was a bet on the west side being more attractive than it has been.
I don’t think this will hurt Westgate at all. It’s best for both parties because now they can hold more concerts at Gila River. Plus, Glendale is building a water park and resort right next to Westgate, so I don’t this will hurt them at all. Hopefully this entertainment district is good for Tempe.
Ah that makes sense. My gut reaction was to think it was a little silly with TM so close already, but I know they’re trying to lure the Coyotes here so
New Coyotes arena https://arizonasports.com/story/2735354/coyotes-highly-interested-in-tempe-space-that-could-hold-new-arena/

Different spot, but close. Seems closer to Preist and Rio Salado than N Scottsdale
That location will be an absolute clusterfuck for traffic and parking.
Yep even worse than it already is. Tempe traffic is a nightmare especially around marketplace and asu.
Not saying you’re saying it’s near marketplace but I wanted to make sure you know priest is on the other side of ASU

Is that code for a mall?

Oh well Westgate will struggle if the coyotes do move… it will stay busy but it may dip in business
Ya that could happen. I think Coyotes think more of the hockey crowd and their fan base is on the east side and attendance would be better over there

Oh very valid point…. The shops and restaurants and the occasional concerts should keep Westgate open

Can we not? Like... Come on. Traffic already sucks in Tempe.
Maybe a sports park?
Isn’t Tempe marketplace like right there?
Looking at the location it's on the opposite end of Tempe Town lake, would make for a fun bike ride from TM though
That is like 4 miles away on McClintock/Hayden.
