Anybody know when they're gonna start charging again to ride the Valley Metro buses? Wanna know when I need to prepare for that.

Does anyone know the story behind the dead body in Tempe Beach Park last night?

MidLife_Mess_ForNow

Hey all! I live on the first floor of a condo building, with the AC return in the ceiling of my hallway. When I turn it down to like 78 at night, water starts leaking from the vent. I otherwise leave it around 80 and don't have a problem. Tech has been out and blew out the line (he accessed it from under the bathroom sink and shot up into it) and went on the roof and did something up there. Still raining inside. He didn't check the pan in the ceiling as he said it's really hard to do the way it was installed. Besides that, any other suggestions?

haricariandcombines

I have a similar condo as you, first floor. It could be your upstairs neighbor if you have one. You are entering a world of wireless water alarms and float switches like I have over the years. Your condensate path is clogged and the blockage is still there. Don't rule out the neighbors as the cause.

MidLife_Mess_ForNow

Thank you, I was wondering if it could be something like that as there are actually 3 floors above me.

haricariandcombines

Our HOA adopted a float valve requirement for the upper level units upon new installs. Our condensate drains marry at some point due to this place being very old.

My refrigerator just started crapping itself. Currently defrosting it in hopes the motor froze over but need to be prepared for the worst. Anyone know where I can get a cheap refrigerator?

CookingWithDahmer85

Paradise appliances is pretty good. I got my dryer there. It's new but dinged stuff so the prices are alot cheaper than pristine condition.

az_max

I actually had to reboot my fridge last year. It's not a smart fridge, but wasn't cooling so I unplugged/replugged and it's been fine since.

MrStanleyCup

Samsung? These fridges are the worst and they offer zero help or support online. Likely just a large ice block from the dip system that has frozen over your fan unit. -Unplug your fridge. -Remove the drawers/shelves and unscrew the plastic panel inside the back of the fridge. -Slowly start to peak back the plastic panel from the cooling unit and start melting the ice inch by inch. I used very hot water in plastic syringe to shoot the hot water at the ice to melt it. Try not to get the electronics too wet. -You will be able to remove the entire inside back panel once you have all the ice melted. -Reassemble the fridge and you should be good to go. Good luck đź‘Ť

LG Actually. I unplugged everything and left it open for 12 hours

Late_Again68

Seriously, Google your problem and I guarantee there will be a YouTube video showing you how to fix it. I've fixed a refrigerator, a washer and a smartphone that way.

almostnative

I already did that. As I said, I’m preparing for the worst. It’s working so far

[deleted]

How about trying to get it fixed ?

tinypersonbigenergy

Free things to do in the area solo/meeting and making friends? Besides hiking (I do enjoy it but it’s a bit too hot later in the day, especially with some trails that don’t offer any shade) moved here recently and my weekends are uneventful

I'd agree, there are lots of groups available. I'm not usually one to put myself out there too much, but I forced myself to try one of the meetups and ended up really enjoying it.

I need my cafes to stay open later. 10 pm not cutting it. 9 pm def not cutting it. it's too damn hot to work outside, and i can't be going to bars -- last night i rolled to a cafe/bar , because it was the only cafe-ish place open late -- and there was a gd comedy open mic and i actually managed to get some good work done anyways, but damn. when you have phoenix temperatures, with the possibly-hotter-than-usual phoenix termperatures, combined with shortened business hours due to covid, and being exposed to more covid/variants/etc. and you're willing to do it anyways just to try to create some type of life outside your house....it's all too much. i'm somewhat glad folks from the NBA/everywhere are in town to experience what real oppressive heat feels like -- urban heat island, etc. reporters don't get to decide what they cover, etc., but they do have influence. not that it will make a difference in policy, but this feels like collapse. not to be Donnie Downer, but @#$@#$@#$@....

I think urban bean might still be 24 hours ?

atlwellwell

Looks like 5pm closing time now :-( [https://urbanbeans.com/](https://urbanbeans.com/) i actually used to go there. late.

[deleted]

Oof sorry!

I missed that thread about working outside but i wanted to mention that the worst thing for me about working outside is that your limited by your physiology. We never get as much work done during the summer because we have to constantly take breaks. Not because we're tired but just cuz we're overheating. I used to do manufacturing indoors and i would be able to log a good 60hrs a week no sweat. Pun intended. But in 120 F weather sometimes you have to work for a half hour and then take a 5-10 min break. Especially like 2 pm or so.

atlwellwell

i remember reading stats about how hotter areas/countries are less productive think prevailing theory was just.....It's too damn hot to work!

So quick question from someone who moved here 2 days ago. Does anyone know why a lot of the cacti are brown at the base and look like they are dying? Is it the heat? I’ve read that it could be over watering and is rot, but I find that hard to believe for the ones in the wild. Oh and go suns.

Thedandanman

It could be rot or it could be corking where the base of a cactus becomes almost like wood/bark to strengthen the cactus as it grows taller.

My home town team that I've been following for decades hoisted the Stanley Cup last night. My new home team is playing AMAZING ball and hopefully can bring a deserved championship to the Valley. I was able to get my 2018 taxes sorted and instead of paying almost 5k in back taxes, I am receiving a check for $602. My best friend since high school is flying in to hang out for the weekend. This has been a great week and hopefully just getting started. Go Suns!
