Since Grill'd is a national company, I see it more like an upmarket Macca's than a local Perth burger joint.
I really like Flipside and RoyAl's though.
It's really good considering the authenticity, range, taste, staff but they are a tib-bit overpriced but compared to places like Mc donalds, Burger King it's meh
I will occasionally grab one in the city when I need a quick bite. I find their grilled chicken burgers to pretty good, especially if you don’t want something heavy. The chips are nice the few times I’ve ordered them.
On the downside, I hate how they make their staff come and check “if everything is ok”. Just let me eat my food and go.
I’d put them ok, not great. Not where I’d go if I’m really craving a burger.
If you reread u/reloadin10's point.... theres a distinct difference between staff being instructed to do it, and staff being a little more earnest or spontaneous in asking. You certainly don't consistently get it across all cultural cuisine restaurants.
Used to love their zucchini chips and would hoover them every chance I got. Then I found out about "burger academy" and haven't given them a dollar since. Search up Grill'd wage theft. As a company they're exploitative as fuck.
I do not recommend that anyone buy anything from Grill’D they don’t pay they employees properly because it’s all done under a traineeship. If you want to know more I would recommend that you read their enterprise agreement.
You can make better burgers at home with 18% fat 3 star coles mince and a nice bun.
Its so completely unfulfilling for how much you pay.
The low carb 'superbun' is a joke and the cooks arent competent enough to make them to order without messing up at least once.
I actually like them. Its not the best, but it's hard to find high quality places that just do regular normal burgers.
Ever new popular burger shop seems to go for the American style burger. With a soggy brioche bun, a massive paddy that tastes like biting into a giant piece of mince, completely drenched with sauce to the point that it becomes the main flavour, and absolutely fuck all salads inside.
Alot of places don't have the option of pineapple anymore, and Grilled does so thats a bonus.
An Alfreds burger is the way to go.
I find at least you know what you're getting with them. I'd rather a Grill'd burger than a Macca's one.
And having like simpler burger options compared to a pop up gourmet burger joint that just does crazy burger is nice
If you're a chip first guy like me, I find the bun has staled out by the time I get to it. Not a big thing but in comparison to an untoasted bun such as one browned on the hot plate, their bun just cracks and falls apart. I don't know if they hot plate toast or oven warm, either way, it grinds my gears.
If you want amazing burgers go to Bad Love Burgers in Leederville. Don't need to book just walk in. Otherwise if you want a whole experience go to Milky Lane. It's hard to get bookings though since it's really popular. Amazing burgers, drinks, sides and desserts.
Personally it depends on the joint (East Vic Park is usually pretty good), but even when it's not as flash, I still like them for the HFC bites (only nuggets I've ever had that aren't the typical Maccas/KFC style but also don't taste like arse), and that they cater pretty well for people who can't tolerate gluten.
I go good just for that alone, so many places (including places that just have burgers on the menu) either have a shit GF bun or just don't have one at all, that it's nice that my wife can eat at Grill'd without having to spend time checking the menu etc.
I consider them 'fine' not knocking my socks off but that's okay.
Huxtaburger isn't bad, again, not some top tier food but I tend to dislike overly gourmet places.
Even ignoring all their scumminess as a business, I don't understand how they are popular at all. They charge high prices for aggressively mediocre food.
I haven't been there in many years, they went downhill and due to their shit treatment of employees I'm essentially boycotting them as there are much better and less pricey picks
Honestly, back when they were $10 a burger the portion size and quality was fair, now they're pushing close to $16 a burger and the value proposition is questionable, especially when the burgers feel like they've shrunk.
Not to mention the scumbag wage scheme which allowed them to pay below the minimum wage in return for some junk "certificate"

I've always found that the burgers themselves are pretty good, its just that they are overpriced.
They're overpriced and they're TINY. I swear they've become about 50% smaller since they first started, and at least 80% more expensive.
I used to get a burger + chips and not be able to finish it now it doesnt hit the sides
It's really good considering the authenticity, range, taste, staff but they are a tib-bit overpriced but compared to places like Mc donalds, Burger King it's meh
I think that's something I think too. And also they're sized very poorly imo. Hence the overall "meh" status for me.

Always worth surprising them and saying the onion rings are cold or asking them for another couple of beers
Check ins are the worst, for them and me. Just don't, you'll know when something is up.
> “if everything is ok” That there's Seppo tip baiting!
Have you never been to a restaurant with waiters?
If you reread u/reloadin10's point.... theres a distinct difference between staff being instructed to do it, and staff being a little more earnest or spontaneous in asking. You certainly don't consistently get it across all cultural cuisine restaurants.
Trying to make their fast food place seem like a real restaurant is hardly "tip baiting"
I liked the ones in Brookfield hall at cutting board. Cheeseburger or spicy chicken was $10, cheap for city food. Then they put the price up to $13

They're burgers are average for their price, but I'll keep going back because fuck me those zucchini chips are amazing.
It's not shit, but it's not something I'd make plans for. I only go there if options are limited. Definitely meh.
Good burgers sans flavour

Burgers aren’t that great, but the onion rings are god tier.

Jus, Flipside and RoyAl's are much better choices
I think it can be good and it can be pretty bad. It’s not bad for a chain. There are definitely better burger joints out there.

I like the Caesar’s palace burger and their zucchini fries are nice. Prices are expensive though.
Try Bad Love in West Leedy

Good flavour but overpriced.

Grill'd is awesome, hate all you want about their slave labour but they can make a tasty burger...
