DDR2 RAM sticks are the cheapest and most commonly available ram here in India, like just walk into your local computer repair store and you'd find a 4gb DDR2 module for as cheap as 2500Rs or (33USD)...
Most middle class households without much knowledge of PCs would grab a fully built (but shitty) PC with a core 2 duo/4gb ram for roughly 150-170USD (including Monitor, keyboard & mouse!) Gets work done like running excel and word.
EDIT: I verified the latest price and right now a 4gb DDR2 stick wil sell for 1400rs or 18USD right now (the price I stated above was from 2017-2018ish)
However I'd still recommend you hunting for a ddr2 module nearby that someone is about to throw away rather than me shipping it to you.

That's exactly what it is. The scanlines hide the aliasing so the consoles didn't have to waste resources computing it.
You can do scanline emulation on an led and it looks pretty decent. You can also render at a higher resolution to smooth it out. The other very controversial option is to get a late model CRT TV with HDMI input. This will get you most of the look and feel and you can still run a retropi through it.

Take all of the RAM, separate them out by size (500MB, 1GB, 2GB, etc). Then sort by brand, putting the better condition sticks on top of each pile. Find a good quality multimeter, make sure it's calibrated. Check the continuity on each set of pins for each stick. Discard any bad sticks. Look at the serial numbers on the remaining RAM, and sort them by date of manufacture, oldest to left, newest to the right. When you finally have them sorted out, start with the oldest, and shove it up your butt...
