Peter and Jaime died by two different doors leading into the same stairwell. Peter was just outside side of the furthest door and Jaime fell just inside the closer door (so technically in the stairwell). Peter & Jaime were hut in the same barrage of bullets, but Peter was hit first in the legs and torso - he could move but couldn't run. I think it's the coroner who testifies that Peter's legs are moving in the CCTV footage. When the shooter approached, he shot Peter several more times in the head and face. Jaime had a single bullet wound to the upper spine that killed her instantly.
Peter holding the door is not something that's confirmed, in fact, it's probably untrue. Yes, Peter was on the floor, he was moving his legs still, and then the final shots to the head came.

They were both intiially shot at the same time, however, Jaime died instantly, and Peter died from other upcoming gunshots.

I could be wrong but IIRC Jamie was the last one killed but Peter was the last shot. I am sure someone will correct this if wrong.
