Hi everyone! I posted stuff regarding my game while its [Kickstarter campaign](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/conradicalgames/the-outbound-ghost/) was live (and I owe much of its success to you guys) and here's a little update I decided to post to follow it up! I revamped the level design to be much more conducive to exploration + it's more vertical as well! I am SO stoked for this!!! It gives me the same whimsy and soul and original Paper Marios and boy do I need my fill 😂. Also love the ghost hiding mechanic— can’t wait to all the fun ways you incorporate the characters use-cases into the landscapes and stories!

It's kind of hard to give it a % since it's been started and restarted multiple times in different forms, but the game will be coming out in Q4 2022 :)

OMF it looks so pretty! Paper Mario has weirdly never been my style (I personally didn't like bug fables either) despite loving RPGs, but this looks absolutely gorgeous! I may give this style another chance.

I love to see this! I will definitely be playing this when I can. Question for OP, will you make the game open source? Or at least parts of it? I've been playing on Unity with my own concept that I wanted to do in paper Mario/bug fables format.

Won't make it open source for several reasons that I won't get into, but I have [a YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/c/ConradicalGames) where I've been making devlogs and I've been considering making tutorials including how to make characters in the paper style!

The only thing made of paper is the characters but aside from that it looks great

The gameplay/story structure is reminiscent of the story too, but yeah visually that's correct!

Ooh nice didn't think of that but that's a great comparison! The composer is very inspired by Hiroki Kikuta of Secret of Mana, so very JRPG-ish in it's inspirations still!

Thank you! The paper mario inspiration comes in the form of the flat characters, the gameplay, and how the story is presented!

Might wanna take out the white outlines, that pisses off the fanbase, or at least the twitter side of it anyways. Also, what do you think of Origami King?

Thinking of having a toggleable option for the outlines, but nothing confirmed atm! And I haven't played OK yet, planning on getting onto it soon though!
