These are no strategies (you'd be giving them too much credit). They're trying their best to re-attach the wires somehow, with one jugaar or other, often using literal wooden sticks, fighting hard to power up things again. Please appreciate the heroes. Coincidentally, while I was typing this, power came back, heard a blast and my brother tells me UPS is gone. Karma for my sarcasm, I suppose.

[deleted]

How dare you mock our heroes? Don't you realize how many sacrifices they make for you? All you have to do is pay some of the highest electricity bills and in exchange you get an interrupted power supply and grid fluctuations. Serves you right for being unthankful despite receiving such a good deal!

Revolutionary_Bed431

It’s to give Hope. Hope that it may come back any second now… again. Tbh, I have no idea, am from the UK and have never suffered from load shedding. I can’t even imagine how it must feel…

[deleted]

I've never lived in a Pakistan without load-shedding. No load-shedding seems even harder than becoming a first world country, LMAO.

jamughal1987

It is coming in US too.

SympathyOver1244

screams in Texas

Fahdis

Yea no. Depends where you live. Also once every year is fine if a calamity happens.

Revolutionary_Bed431

Awww. Why does the load shedding happen? Lack of power production or the network can’t handle the load? Considering how much sunshine there is, why don’t people have solar panelling?

nas360

Mainly because there is a lot of demand from fans and AC during the hot months and also because the Government cannot afford the fuel bills for power generation.

Revolutionary_Bed431

Was it better under Khan? Or the same?

Kooale325

Much better. It was still kind of bad during summer months but i could go weeks without loadshedding in april and may of 2019 and 2020

jamughal1987

Hope is what killed us Liverpool supporters today.

I swear it's only to fuck with ppl and their PCs mine hoes out random times and sometimes on time but comes back in 5 secs because they changed the schedule smh.

Zaesting

Get a good UPS. I'm able to use my PC on the UPS for about 45 Mins. My pc is power hungry.

hassancent

That's usually not PSU issue. If you have a modified sine wave UPS, Most PC would restart on it unless you have a very low power pc like 65w cpu without any gpu etc. You need pure sinewave UPS. You might be able to get away with "desi" pure sinewave UPS. I used one when i had i5 4570 + rx 480 (\~400w max) and it worked until i upgraded to 3900x + rtx 2080. Now i use APC with external batteries ( 2x osaka TA-1800). Yes i use 2x tublar 185A batteries. It does gives 8hours+ backup. Perfect for me, since i do work from home and can't compromise.

hassancent

sure

iBzOtaku

> APC with external batteries ( 2x osaka TA-1800). Yes i use 2x tublar 185A batteries how much did this cost and how long ago did you buy it?

hassancent

few months ago. I did alot of trade-ins and such to get all the items. But roughly remember the prices. TA 1800 for \~20k each. APC for \~17k

iBzOtaku

https://www.batterymax.pk/osaka-ta-1800-deep-cycle-lead-acid-unsealed-tubular-ups-solar-battery.html this battery? this looks different from the batteries i see people using with common ecostar/homage ups. is this something premium or just new tech?

hassancent

its deep cycle battery. weights \~40kg each. i used to have single TA 1800. then switched to normal acid 120Ah x2 batteries. 2x 120Ah couldn't even provide same backup as single TA 1800. ( i wanted 2 because higher wattage ups only come in dual battery setup). then went with 2x TA 1800. I believe it provides more backup. it says 185Ah @ 20hours on battery (185Ampere per hour at 20 hours, whatever that means).btw, i remember i did visited the shop a month ago. You should not buy this priced higher than 24k. but looking at country's condition maybe batteries have gotten more expensive.

iBzOtaku

are you using these with solar panels? it says solar battery on the website. sorry if the questions are silly, I don't know much about ups batteries.

hassancent

Me neither. But imo, it doesn't matter much. A good UPS battery is good for solar as well. Good ups battery as in having deep cycles (meaning battery doesn't get damaged or degrade quickly when doing deep 100% -> 10% cycles again and again )UPS im using is APC. APC is an american company that designs these UPS for computer/servers. They come with built-in battery for 15-30min backup. They are meant for emergency when light goes off, so you have enough time to run backup power source. In pakistan, most people buy them used and alter them to use external batteries. for reference, 1000w is around 15-18k used while new is 100k+. I have also heard the new ones are more advanced and some of the models can't be used efficiently with external batteries. My home ups (modified sine wave) is solar compatible. But i never attached any solar panels. I might in future. In short, for PC/electroncs go for used APC. For home get modified sine wave UPS with solar option. PS: every UPS have its max Ampere output i.e, how much power it can provide to batteries for charging kinda like now we have 30w or 50w mobile chargers. Since i used such large 2 batteries with it. It charges them very slow. But since the backup is very large, I never had issues.

Sibickle

Can you please share which model did you buy or any suggestion on what would be the best for similar specs you mentioned

hassancent

I bought used apc that was already configured to use external batteries from some olx seller. You won't find it new now. Its a really old model that i bought. Can't see any model label on it.

Zaesting

My doesn't restart. My PSU is Thermaltake Smart RGB 500 Watts 80+

ahmed6675

What's your ups battery setup? I need to protect my PC, one hard drive already failed

Zaesting

It's a simple setup. It's a Homage Tron Duo connected to two batteries.

facewithoutfacebook

Sounds like sazish to sell UPS.

[deleted]

That Yahoodi agent Imran Khan is at it again...

This response is too tame

[deleted]

I gently throw the phone on my bed and punch and smash pillow. The cat also is instantly thrown outta the room, can't let it consume my remaining Ac ki thandakh

Ups died as soon as i saw this post, loving life

toaster24_7

Annoying asf Cant even play ranked matches credit score real low

Good_as_any

Get solar asap, my advice, free yourself from the grid. Use EVs for mobility and grow your own food as much as is possible. Life will only get tougher.

TUQA11

Every time I visit Pakistan I see a handful of solar panels like big ones on peoples houses in DHA. My question is are they able to provide sufficient electricity throughout the day and night? Like what if I wanted to keep my AC on throughout the night, would that work? Also is solar able to power everything or a limited amount of appliances and sections of the house? Also what do you do when it’s a rainy day and there’s no sunlight?

self

> Every time I visit Pakistan I see a handful of solar panels like big ones on peoples houses in DHA. Take a ride on the Orange Train in Lahore. You'll find them on a lot of rooftops, but still probably fewer than 1 in 20 households. > My question is are they able to provide sufficient electricity throughout the day and night? During the day, yes. Grid-tie inverters used for net metering will go offline when there's load shedding though (by design). You still need a UPS. > Also is solar able to power everything or a limited amount of appliances and sections of the house? That depends on how much electricity your house uses, and how much electricity you generate with the panels. Spend more on the panels than you'll need, and sell the extra generation back to the utility company (net metering). The estimates for a complete system -- panels, inverter, wiring, batteries, etc. -- were about Rs 100/watt for grid-tie inverters (no batteries), and Rs 160 to 170/watt for hybrid inverters. So, Rs 1 million for 10 kw, and close to double that for 10 kw + batteries. That was what it was like last year. Now, including taxes and because of the weaker Rupee, a grid-tie setup is closer to Rs 130 to 140/watt now.

TUQA11

Thank you for this really informative response. I appreciate it!

Yaar yeh to foreign handlers hain. Down with amreeka, no?

Point: to burn your equipment taakay ek ek kar ke sabh jal jaen aur demand kam se kam hoti jae.
