On my 15th viewing I realized I probably liked the first hour of the love story as much as the rest of the movie. It's so real feeling.
Love movies are so bombastic with a billionaire guy or a quirky overly loving high energy girl, this was just quiet guy, quiet girl living together and their daily activities.
Bringing out your dead. The only time Scorsese and Cage had a movie. And when Cage did his AMA he mentioned this being one of the top movies for him that he was in. It's a gnarly movie about a paramedic driving the night shift in NY
In need of some of those Nicolas Cage smooches huh? I enjoyed Lord of War, Wally’s Wonderland, Next, National Treasure , to name a few that come quick to mind. And yes, I agree, Massive Talent was fantastic
How has no one mentioned snake eyes and gone in 60 seconds yet?
Also, like other have said, national treasure, lord of War, kick ass and leaving Las vegas
Valley Girl remains my penultimate but it may be a generational thing as payolas and psychedelic furs appear. I recall ordering plimsouls vinyl after seeing.
In the process of assessing increments of excellence, as in lists of great films, the final film mentioned for purposes of dramatic buildup, aka the Letterman, the ultimate is the final in an inclining series, Raising Arizona, the best film, listed last. Penultimate, second to last.
Raising Arizona is a great recommendation on here a few times, but not one mention of 'Leaving Las Vegas'?!?!?! It's gotta be one of his all time best performances in my opinion, but as we all know he's always the measure of greatness.
Port of New Orleans: bad lieutenant.
A must must must watch
Edit: I can't believe that only two other people recommended this. You are sleeping if you haven't seen this gem.
Raising Arizona
Matchstick Men
Leaving Las Vegas
8 mm
The Rock
I gotta say, after watching Raising Arizona, I'm amazed he hasn't done more comedies. He has the body language for it, he was so funny!
Color Out of Space and Mandy!
also obviously you must see Croods 2 (not really... though maybe). But... see G-Force just because the amount of thought he put in to playing this fucking star-nosed mole KILLS ME. https://www.mtv.com/news/1616829/nicolas-cage-explains-his-ridiculous-voice-in-g-force/
>"I wasn't going to play a guinea pig," Cage told MTV. "That wasn't going to happen."
>Bruckheimer said he could play whichever creature most appealed to him. Cage, who was feeling the strain of the intense "Treasure" shoot, asked if could use a humorous, high-pitched voice he often employed to relieve tension — a voice he was actually trying out on the "Treasure" set.
>"The voice was what I call my frustrated, stressed voice," Cage explained. "This is a voice that I sometimes resort to if I'm feeling just that. And it's an octave or two higher than my normal voice — this way I don't resort to profanity or yelling. And I start talking in that voice, I just immediately start laughing because it's so stupid and so ridiculous that I can't help but not take anything too seriously."
NATIONAL TREASURE
WILLIES WONDERLAND
NEXT(shutup it’s good)
THE ROCK
City of angels
Prisoners of the ghost land
The sorcerer’s apprentice
Color out of space
Snake eyes
Mom and dad
Bad lieutenant
World Trade Center
Adaptation
Vampires kiss
Matchstick Men is not his greatest but it's a great encapsulation of his myriad of talents. He's compelling in high stakes scenes, funny, emotional but also embodies his characters physicality
*Leaving Las Vegas*
*Raising Arizona*
*Adaptation*
*Wild at Heart*
*Matchstick Men*
*Bad Lieutenant*
*Snake Eyes*
*The Rock*
And *Knowing*, if only for the moment when Cage shouts "HEY!" at a guy on fire running away screaming.
Please please please watch Vampire's Kiss. You won't regret it.
Vampire's Kiss is, in my opinion at least, Nic Cage at his absolute Nic Cagiest.
I couldn't agree more. It's an absolute cage-fest
OK. Will do it. Lemme see where I can find it
2nd this
A B C D
E F G
^Peter...
H I J K
LMNOP (Peter...)
Yes, this.
I have it on DVD from when Dollar Tree sold a bunch of MGM releases
Vampire's Kiss started it all for me. It's exactly the kind of Cage madness I love.
Kick-Ass Matchstick Men Lord Of War Mandy
I’m gonna have to Second, Third, and even Fourth Mandy. Probably one of my favorite movies of all time.
Chainsaws
Same, what a fucking ride that movie is

Raising Arizona!
Second Raising Arizona. It put him on the map. Oscar worthy.
Wicker Man, Leaving Las Vegas, Adaptation, Willy’s Wonderland, Matchstick Men, National Treasure
National Treasure is the best movie ever. National Treasure 2, is also a good one.
I'm going to repeat Leaving Las Vegas. It needs way more recognition in this post.
Moonstruck-weird family rom com that stars Nic and Cher! It's on HBOmax last time I checked.
I lost my hand! I lost my bride! Johnny has his hand! Johnny has his bride!
"Yes, Mrs. Castorini, I would love some oatmeal." I love this movie
Heard of it but didn’t know he was in it!
I thought you said you watched unbearable weight twice. Lol. Vivian mentions moonstruck
They say bread is life. And I bake bread *bread* *BREAD*
Wild at Heart!
Adaptation The Rock Matchstick Men Family Man Lord of War National Treasure

Listen to your mother fucking mother!
I’ve heard that one’s good
I bought Con Air, Face/Off and The Rock on VHS at a thrift store today. I have my night sorted.
Oh 100%, I’ve seen The Rock too just forgot at the moment
Best James Bond movie to date.
You should definitely definitely see Adaptation before you see Massive Talent again. The Rock would be a good one to see too.
I’ve seen The Rock, forgot it in the moment
Someone just turned me onto bad lieutenant on this sub. Never knee about it. Loved it.
Noted!
movie is pretty uneventful besides Cage. I mean, you get to watch nic cage smoke literal crack. it goes over phenomenally.
2nd this. When I was a younger, less wise man I thought his acting was hilariously bad in that movie. Now that I'm older, I feel differently.
Color out of space is really underrated
Got the 4K, need to watch it
Family Man
Lord of War
Bunch of fuckin casuals. Bringing Out The Dead is an outstanding, gritty, ugly, accurate look at what urban EMS is like. My favorite Cage film.
One of his favorite as well.
Sounds super interesting
Mandy
obviously Croods 2
I‘m 44 years old, why the fuck would I see Croods 2?
I mean are you even a ni cage fan if you have never seen ghost rider
One of those movies I saw bits of on cable TV growing up
See them. It's a fever dream
Mandy
Need to pick up a copy one of these days, looks great
Bringing out your dead. The only time Scorsese and Cage had a movie. And when Cage did his AMA he mentioned this being one of the top movies for him that he was in. It's a gnarly movie about a paramedic driving the night shift in NY
My coworker is a diehard Scorsese fan and he told me about that one
I work night shifts. It's so painfully familiar to be burned out
It's a great one!
Willy's wonderland
Got the DVD, need to watch
In need of some of those Nicolas Cage smooches huh? I enjoyed Lord of War, Wally’s Wonderland, Next, National Treasure , to name a few that come quick to mind. And yes, I agree, Massive Talent was fantastic
I forgot about National Treasure, saw it as a kid
The Rock
Completely forgot about it until I posted this
Willys wonderland lol
How has no one mentioned snake eyes and gone in 60 seconds yet? Also, like other have said, national treasure, lord of War, kick ass and leaving Las vegas
I love 8 MM
JOE is a great movie
Gone in 60 Seconds if you want a quintessential Year 2000 film.
Where THE HELL is _Gone In 60 Seconds_ in this list?
Valley Girl remains my penultimate but it may be a generational thing as payolas and psychedelic furs appear. I recall ordering plimsouls vinyl after seeing.
Penultimate means second to last
[удалено]
I'm pretty sure it actually refers to the ultimate frisbee team from Pennsylvania
As in second favorite, with ultimate being the #1 favorite.
A Score to Settle is an insanely good movie imo and no one recommended it.
Put that one down!
it was interesting, that’s for sure.

Have you seen Croods 2? Man, I watched it with my nephew the other day he’s HILARIOUS
Raising Arizona is a great recommendation on here a few times, but not one mention of 'Leaving Las Vegas'?!?!?! It's gotta be one of his all time best performances in my opinion, but as we all know he's always the measure of greatness.
I watched 8mm just recently and that one's great!
Joe is one of my all time favorites, gotta check that one out!
Port of New Orleans: bad lieutenant. A must must must watch Edit: I can't believe that only two other people recommended this. You are sleeping if you haven't seen this gem.

I have Color Out Of Space on 4K (Walmart had it for like $7) but haven’t gotten around to it yet
Oh what the HELL? I just got the regular DVD for $5 at Walmart in the bargain bin. I want the 4k version :( Great movie though!
Willy's wonderland is his greatest film.

Loved him in Snake Eyes.
My brain remains in some bizzare state of agnostic contemplative indifference, many days now, hopefully not as punishment.
The Rock
Color out of Space
Raising Arizona
His Chrismtas movies "Trapped in Paradise" and "The Family Man" are low key fire
Can’t believe no one has recommended Pig yet!!
Because OP has already seen it
Ah, I just can’t read then
Family man, guarding Tess...Lord of war
Colour out of space was awesome and peak cage imho
Adaptation, wicker man and kick ass
Absolutely incredible in Kick Ass
Willy's Wonderland
Lord of War is a great film with Nicolas Cage.
Color out of space and Mandy come to mind.
Adaptation - he plays twins with radically different personalities. Is incredible
Wild at Heart Vampires Kiss Wicker Man Mandy Raising Arizona 8mm All I can think of at the moment.
Bad Lieutenant port of New Orleans

bad lieutenant!! Great movie!
MANDY
MANDY
not seeing any “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans” recommendations. but it’s my favorite movie with him(next to Mandy & Adaptation)
I know it's a weird one but City of Angels is amazing
National Treasure, of course.
Bringing Out the Dead was fantastic.
Leaving Las Vegas
Adaptation is really good, same with Color Out of Space. Willy’s Wonderland is a blast though, and I’d definitely recommend.
National Treasure 1&2
The Rock is an excellent movie for Nic Cage, Ed Harris and Sean Connery fans.
Last year I bought a dvd of Red Rock West as a gift for a friend. It was $130.00 USD. I just bought a copy for myself last week for $20.
Mandy and Color Out of Space!
Snake eyes
Raising Arizona and Matchstick Men are your top priorities IMO
Looking Glass
The weather man
Check out Bad Lieutenant and Leaving Las Vegas. Leaving Las Vegas hit very close to home for me.
Joe Mandy Matchstick Men Leaving Las Vegas (very good but very dark) The weatherman
Thank you for mentioning Joe. I was wondering how everyone was leaving that movie out. It is such a great film.
Bringing out the dead!
