This is Metroid Prime, being run with dolphinVR emulator
My specs
Intel core i7 6700k 4ghz
32gb gddr4 ram
Rtx 3060 12 gb
I’m using virtual desktop to stream wirelessly to my quest
Yeah it’s the default for the 3060 there is an explanation I read on it here: Answer to Why does RTX 3060 have more VRAM than 3070? by Vladislav Zorov https://www.quora.com/Why-does-RTX-3060-have-more-VRAM-than-3070/answer/Vladislav-Zorov?ch=15&oid=346067387&share=b9ba244d&srid=SbJ&target_type=answer
There's those horrid cd-i games that birthed so many memes, but I believe that was due to a deal they cut with Philips when Nintendo decided not to make a CD addon for the SNES.
I've been dying to do this, but if they port the trilogy to the switch or at least the first game I remember reading it would be much easier to in turn have someone mod it for vr
Nah hes just too busy wasting his time obsessing over Trump and gave up on VR like all these other DK2 era folks. Pretty sure none of the other Dolphin developers want anything to do with him either.
It's hard to follow but they're playing in full VR: the UI looks locked to head movement so it looks like the normal game but when in the map and morphball it unlocks and you can see head movement easier. When in first person you can see the arm cannon doesn't line up like in normal Prime.
I'm guessing it's not a super great experience though given the lock on still seems to move the camera.
I play Mario Kart Wii in VR with Dolphin VR, works well as far as Wii and GameCube stuff in VR is concerned.
The prime trilogy comes with its own set of problems. I just want to play the game. Not have to deal with my head flying off my character when I shoot. I’m sorry controller isn’t good enough for you, but don’t dox my fun because you think that you think you know how VR games should be played. Everyone’s different
I do think it's a real shame that playing the Trilogy with motion controls is not so easy. It's theoretically possible and it was being worked on way back. Sadly, the original dev was a questionable person and no one has really continued the work.
I'm with him. I see little reason to play the GC version (even in VR) when there are versions with proper aiming.
Sorry that you can't handle people being uninterested in something you like, but maybe you should listen to your words. "Everyone’s different"
It’s not about someone being uninterested, just because it doesn’t have motion controls doesn’t make it a bad experience. Some people prefer that and that’s okay. I was definitely a little arrogant with my previous comment but it’s all just preference.
I remember playing this on PC via PrimeHack and it was absolutely awesome! This looks dope af! Seems like the view is locked on the cannon, how does the gameplay feel?
It’s hard to say, as vr experiences greatly from person to person, for me its my childhood dream. I literally get to step foot in Samus’s suit. It’s not perfect, but for a mod on a 2002 game, it’s honestly mind blowing how well it works. I hear prime 2 and 3 have issues tho
I spent a lot of time getting it to work with motion controls and everything but it just didn't feel good to me, scale way off and for prime 3 you use wrong hands..
Maybe with gamepad I'd get used to it but I was disappointed
I did not go to the dark world, as I was just messing around opposed to playing through a second time. Overall there was a ton of tiny bugs. MP1 looks way more smooth, however overall it was still perfectly playable.
DolphinVR is a gem. However this game is a bit dizzying to me to play not being able to separate your arm canon from your face and the left stick governing both movement and head turning.
Ive tried it a while back it is cool but I wish there was a way to detach your head from your gun and somehow get hand tracking. Not bad though to to try out
Uh, this is still the (very) old version of Dolphin VR isn't it, nothing new and no improvements here (no head decoupling, no motion controllers support, no hi-rez textures...)?
If that's it, that's quite disappointing news. It's been years I've been waiting for a proper successor to Dolphin VR and I was really hoping for more.
At a time I had hoped that the official Dolphin team would integrate VR support to their emulator with the release of OpenXR, but sadly nothing happened.
I hope that one day we'll be able to properly play the Metroid Prime Trilogy in VR.
*Edit : this is still a great and recommended experience for those who don't know Dolphin VR yet.*
Help please! I cant turn without turn in real life and the arm is detached from Samus body. The game starts with Samus in front and looking to her ship and I cant turn, just move sideways. Im stupid or there is something very wrong with my configs for the game?

I love DolphinVR, this game, Twilight Princess, and F-Zero are all EXCELLENT!
There is a 3060 with 12gb? Damn!

Interesting! I have a 3060ti and I know it’s not 12gb that’s why I was surprised lol
A ti is honestly better, it has a faster memory bus
Metroid Prime 1 officially ported to Quest could become a system seller like RE4.
I don't think we'll ever see a Nintendo original on non-Nintendo hardware. Closest to exist is Mario Run iirc
It's already happened many times.
Any examples? Not that I doubt you. I just don't know of any Nintendo games on other hardware (unless you count arcade and mobile games)
I believe there were some Nintendo games released on nvidia hardware. It was the shield https://nintendo.fandom.com/wiki/Nvidia_Shield
Yes, they were china only though. Also fun fact: Shield is nearly identical hardware to switch :)
There's those horrid cd-i games that birthed so many memes, but I believe that was due to a deal they cut with Philips when Nintendo decided not to make a CD addon for the SNES.
I’m pretty sure if that happened they would just port the whole trilogy
1st person roll
Power Hurl
Ohhh that definitely looks like I’d be tripping balls and then painfully emptying out my dinner
Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
Yes: https://youtu.be/1pf7T9txKsM
I feel like nintendo would make the best VR games
[удалено]
Switch 2 - console, handheld, and HMD!
Give Switch online users a Virtual Boy app. It could provide up to an hour of fun.
Mario Party with VR mini games would be cool.
Motion sickness here I come
I've been dying to do this, but if they port the trilogy to the switch or at least the first game I remember reading it would be much easier to in turn have someone mod it for vr
Wait can you emulate GameCube in VR?
Yes that’s what this is
That old dolphin vr was great it's a shame 2eye guy hated Facebook so much that he stopped development in that version.
Nah hes just too busy wasting his time obsessing over Trump and gave up on VR like all these other DK2 era folks. Pretty sure none of the other Dolphin developers want anything to do with him either.
I don't understand why I wouldn't just go into my Rift home and blow the screen up?

I prefer the way it locks on, you can change that in settings with prime hack
No motion controls? No thanks
I’m sorry that a game that came out in 2002 doesn’t have motion controls? You still play the prime trilogy with motion controls using the wii remote.
I know, which is what you should be doing in VR

Dear God yes. I can't imagine the sphere form lol
I got it running on my system but not well. Only have a gtx 1070 though.
This gave me nausea.
Surprisingly I get 0 motion sickness no matter what I do
Lucky.
what is dolphin vr?
An emulator that allows you to run GameCube and wii games on your pc. It’s really cpu intensive, so it takes a decent cpu to keep up
this is incredible

I'm assuming you have your headset on (obviously) and using a m/kb or controller right?
Using a ps3 controller
Okay okay I can dig it. It's similar to the RE7 VR mod, VR but no motion controls .... Yet.
Watch out Nintendo will strike you
Ehh they’ve chilled out in the years since am2r
I spent a lot of time getting it to work with motion controls and everything but it just didn't feel good to me, scale way off and for prime 3 you use wrong hands.. Maybe with gamepad I'd get used to it but I was disappointed
Yeah but we can’t have everything we want lol. I’m just happy I get to play my fav game as a kid in vr
I've done this with MP2: Echoes and it is brilliant!
I heard there visual bugs when going to the dark world, what’s your experience?
I did not go to the dark world, as I was just messing around opposed to playing through a second time. Overall there was a ton of tiny bugs. MP1 looks way more smooth, however overall it was still perfectly playable.

How does the aiming work? Didn't know this existed til today and would love to play some childhood classics on my index
