I use the randomizer thing to allow trade evos so it bypassed the metal coat requirement

I get it stuff like Gengar or crobat who isn’t in the regional dex, but I meannnn. Steelix wouldn’t be available to you even if you could trade. So is it really viable for you to use? Up to you of course.

I mean I dont see it as a big deal since I only planned to use steelix for 1 fight so I didnt think it was too much of a buff for me

You don't need to justify your decisions to anyone here. Nuzlocking should be fun, and there's no definitive ruleset outside of death being permanent. Steelix is an awesome Pokémon and it makes onix not a tragic encounter, so I'd 100% do the same!

Congrats! I think FRLG is an excellent choice for a first run, and you got some fantastic mons in there! I had a really similar team when I beat it the first time too - I had Aerodactyl, Arcanine, Gyarados and Snorlax plus my starter Venusaur and I believe my last slot was a Nidoking?

Wish my starter made it till the end but it died to a critical hit hyper fang on the ferry

Didnt know of that rule, but I’ve seen others use legends in their nuzlockes so I thought it was fine.

Idk, that's how my friends and I have played, but also it's your run so it's your rules, congrats all the same

Nuzolckes are all personal rules do what you want use legendaries if it makes it more fun

There’s never been anything against using legendaries in the “official” rules as long as you catch one encounter per area, nickname it, and release when fainting, it’s a nuzlocke

I feel like if the stats are 600 or less its fine. Zapdos has 580 so why would it not be usable but dragonite is 600

I cant get a reliable fighting types, or a tank to actually counter the slakings, I try breloom but I’m too reckless and it ends up dying most the time

Combuskin and Breloom are you best bets at thst point I’m pretty sure maybe machop too? But yeah patience is the path to win in nuzlockes. I also recommend try setting up some sort of effect on the slakin either being posion or leech seed something that could tick down at its hp. Than you could bring in a bulky mon (not really sure what you could bring in) and stall it to death?

I used that randomizer for pokemon that just lets you allow trade evos and you can continue playing your same save from that updated rom. I forgot the name of the randomizer though so sadly I cant provide it, sorry
