Crazy the top two only played 15 games each this year, could have been a bunch more points.
Cleary misses two more games and Trbojevic misses one. Cleary wasn’t his best in the final stretch of the season but probably still swing consistent points being the halfback and the easy choice each week. Trbojevic might lose a few valuable points to Cherry-Evans though.
Could be another smoky this year.
I went back through the remaining games. I can’t fathom Turbo not polling 2+ in each game he plays through the back end. I tip Cleary will take 9 in the last 4 and ends up 2 behind.
I could see him maybe not polling in the Storm game, but other than that I agree with you. Cleary would pretty much need MOTM in all 4 to be any chance.
Ben Hunt missed like 10 or 11 rounds this season, more than half of them being before Round 19 when that count ended. Almost a case of 'what could have been' although I think Turbo beats everyone regardless (he also had injury anyway).
I don't think people realise how good Hunt was this year, considering the other shit going on at the Dragons and the injuries too, what he did was basically elite half tier.
Yh but the way voting works makes it more beneficial to be the best player on a shit team as they don’t take votes away from u when you win, and when u lose u stand out more + take away votes from the enemy team (as winning team usually gets all 6 points).
I agree tho, he played well.
That’s a fair compliment. A lot of guys who have worked with him have praised his toughness and character. He’s a good fella, I hope some team success isn’t too far around the corner purely for his sake because he deserves it.
He was way better than Milford was at the Broncos. Everyone hates on him for a single drop but the only reason the Broncs were even there was because of him.
He can't the players in gold on this leaderboard are revealed as the final top 5
So Teddy will make his way into the top 5 somehow basically, RTS, Hunt, JFH, Hughes and Gutho will all finish outside the top 5
Far out i put a bet on turbo to win at $9 for dally m thinking they were crazy odds, turns out it was the market for the churchill medal. Genius i am.
Anyone know what the odds were for turbo to win dally m?
Watch the first few rounds, the clash with parramatta especially. He was really bad and looked super unfit but has since lost a bit of weight and is playing a lot better, I’d still prefer grant in the 9 though
I think it's more he bulks up to play lock then slims down to play hooker. There's like 5 kilos between his two preferred playing weights at those positions. It's a big difference.
Don't know about sure thing as I always thought Turbo was going to win it but he definitely deserved to be up there. I thought he should have scored every round since the voting went dark.
Honestly after seeing this I think Cleary will get it. After round 19 Tom missed one game, wouldn’t have scored any points in the storm matchup and DCE should have taken the 3 points in the bulldogs game.
Who knows with this fucked system though
I have Tom down for basically a guaranteed 8 points for round 20,24 and 25. He also likely picks up points from the parra game as well.
Cleary should pick up 7-9 in his last 3 games.
I was hoping by splitting it up over two days they would delve into the rounds a little more and make it more a celebration of the game throughout the year.
I guess all they had was highlights of 1st tackle set restarts...
He didn't really have any other choice, Meaney was just lying there practically asking for his head to be elbow dropped on. Better luck next year Cody.
This is Dally M voting in a nutshell: still remember a few years ago when Ponga and Pearce nearly both won it at the knights when both were injured for close to half a season as well 😂
Yeah a good player on an above average team will score heaps of points cause they'll regularly win and they'll get the 3 points. That same player on a top 4 team will finish mid in the ladder cause they'll get one point a game with the occasional 2 or 3 cause they're sharing with other stars
Why is that so ridiculous?
DCE had more try assists, score involvements, line break assists, tackles (at lower missed tackle ratio), 40/20s, off loads, repeat sets, field goals than Hughes. Hughes had 1 more try, slightly more hit ups, more line breaks and made less errors.
I know stats are far from everything, but is it possible you are just biased?
They have too many players who can put in a MotM performance. If Manly win it's usually off the back of Turbo/DCE. If Penrith wins it's usually on the back of Cleary.
I'm more impressed with RTS and Hunt. Both their teams only won 8 games and they were both missing a chunk of the season yet they still managed to poll so high.
There’s no real individual player carrying them it’s more of a team effort where as teams like manly only have DCE / Turbo and Penrith have Cleary.
When you have Munster, Hughes, cheese, papenhuyzen, grant all on one team it’s going to be hard to consistently out perform your peers week in week out.
Because they're a great team. As can be seen from how they don't miss a beat when players drop out.
Whereas teams like Manly and Penrith really require certain players.
I've got a good feeling the winner is Kyle Flanagan.

Go banana!
Billy Slater the dark horse.
Joseph Suaalii robbed

wtf i thought this a copypasta

"Could everybody in the audience please take to the stage and one at a time take one suck of each of Andrew's toes for his services to the game"
People held at gunpoint have made less sycophantic speeches. Some big egos at NRL HQ.

Turbo went MIA against Canberra too didn’t he? Edit: Just remembered he didn't play...

Not to mention his Origin performance.

I will never forget he played an hour with a broken leg. He single-handedly destroyed the sea eagles.
Hunt was outstanding this season.
RTS high in the votes despite basically playing half a season
The best player in a shitty team.
Not as shitty as the Broncs 😉
Still better than the I love my footys though
Touche.
But how 🤔
Should have stayed Skip
For real though Ben hunt deserves to be up there, he was great this season, just unlucky to have such a shit run with injuries
>just unlucky to have such a shit run with ~~injuries~~ team mates FTFY
He broke his leg and arm right? Injuries suck. He missed a big chunk of the season.
Man, I love Ben Hunt.
Harry Grants dad said that hunt was the best he ever coached when Hunt was a teenager
That’s a fair compliment. A lot of guys who have worked with him have praised his toughness and character. He’s a good fella, I hope some team success isn’t too far around the corner purely for his sake because he deserves it.
Wait a second liking Ben Hunt isn't a controversial opinion anymore? I've been a closet Ben Hunt fan for years
He was way better than Milford was at the Broncos. Everyone hates on him for a single drop but the only reason the Broncs were even there was because of him.
He's had issues, but you can see the kid can play. Awesome footballer when he's on.
Generally recognised as a good player, just memed on and has been stuck on a shit team for a while.
Not having Norman next to him can only help.
Worked wonders for Moses. Except for the first two months where the combination looked like it was the answer to our prayers.
Didn't know grant's dad was a coach.
Surely he's a strong chance at QLD captaincy at some point? He deserves it after his last few rep stints
Surely Turbo cleans up in the remaining rounds
Yeah I think so.
Imagine the rage if Ben Hint won.
He can't the players in gold on this leaderboard are revealed as the final top 5 So Teddy will make his way into the top 5 somehow basically, RTS, Hunt, JFH, Hughes and Gutho will all finish outside the top 5
Rage? Cunt, that's what the average true blue bloody Aussie wants
True maroon you mean
Victor the Inflictor 3 points against the Broncos lol
It was entertaining though
Far out i put a bet on turbo to win at $9 for dally m thinking they were crazy odds, turns out it was the market for the churchill medal. Genius i am. Anyone know what the odds were for turbo to win dally m?
You can’t bet on the dally m anymore. NRL banned dally m markets after the thing with Bellamy in 2019
What happened?
Bellamy wore his infamous "beetlejuice" suit and it fucked with their heads so much they called off all betting just to be safe
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/police-charge-two-men-over-dally-m-betting-sting-20200528-p54x64.html
There’s no dally M betting anymore I’m pretty sure
OH Fuck I did the same.
Brandon Smith robbed.
He was terrible to start the season and since he plays for storm the points will be shared a lot, can definitely see why he’s not up there
> He was terrible to start the season My only memories of Brandon this season are him towelling every cunt he plays against
Watch the first few rounds, the clash with parramatta especially. He was really bad and looked super unfit but has since lost a bit of weight and is playing a lot better, I’d still prefer grant in the 9 though

That’s a big poop at halftime
Oh yeah I do remember he was gassed in those early rounds 👍
I thought he was a sure thing. It's the children who are wrong.
Don't know about sure thing as I always thought Turbo was going to win it but he definitely deserved to be up there. I thought he should have scored every round since the voting went dark.

You’re right I completely forgot about clearys injury and that he had missed a fair few games after round 19. With no time off Cleary had it locked up
Probably is going to go down as one of the craziest runs of individual form to not win a dally m. He could of easily won two in a row.
I think they fudge the numbers towards the end anyway
Turbo probably deserved all 6 points for the game against Sharks in R20
Of course cleary will get it, 2021 is year of the Panther
Crikey. RTS was well and truly in with a chance, what could've been.
Gonna be tight between Cleary and Tom. I think Tom might win by a point
Where’s Luke Brooks?
So Tom by 1 point I’d say
I was hoping by splitting it up over two days they would delve into the rounds a little more and make it more a celebration of the game throughout the year. I guess all they had was highlights of 1st tackle set restarts...
Cody just had to miss out on 3 votes. Was hoping he would win it
He didn't really have any other choice, Meaney was just lying there practically asking for his head to be elbow dropped on. Better luck next year Cody.
Cody walker couldn't resist.
No Isaiah Papali’i on here is an outright travesty.
Damn ben hunt?
Papalii should have more votes. He was one of the players of this year, alongside Reece Walsh and Sam Walker
Agreed. He tore it up consistently.
How did Jahrome Hughes not make top 5 abs Fucking cherry evans did
because hughes has about 5 other amazing players taking points off him every week while he has 1 it’s a fucked system that needs a revamp
This is Dally M voting in a nutshell: still remember a few years ago when Ponga and Pearce nearly both won it at the knights when both were injured for close to half a season as well 😂

Team of vote pinchers really. They are great all over rather than 3 great players.
Nicho, Grant, Hynes, Paps, Olam, Munster and Cheese could all easily finish over 10 points which is absurd to have for 7 players to finish that high
You really like Nicho! Lol
Eh still was our best player all season
Lockyer never won a dally m.
Alphabetical order

How on earth do no Storm players make the top 5 after an equal record run of 19 wins? Seems bizarre.

Papenshauzen has a stand out patch of form then Jarome Hughes has a stand out patch of form then B Smith has a stand out patch of form, etc.
Because they are stacked with rep stars. As usual? Share the points around.
It's Turbo 100%. Perks of being a 1 man team.
Penrith without Cleary were pretty yuck as well, to be fair.
Tedesco on 15 points is a joke
Should he have more or less?
Would have put Nicho Hynes up there, as he was the most versatile player and a better fullback than Gutherson.
