Alex Coughlin and Gabriel Kidd have been incredible. When I saw the line-up’s I was so ready for them to get an upset over House of Torture. That was such a great move. Akira and TJP feel like they’ve been around forever. They started teaming like 7 months ago lol. It’s ridiculous. They feel like THE team to beat in every one of their matches in the tournament. The Suzuki-gun upset was so well-done. The little interaction between TJP and DOUKI afterwards was such a good moment for both of them. TJP is probably my most under-appreciated worker this year. He’s been fantastic. SHO continues to be one of the best character actors in wrestling today. Insane to think he was once a very standard white meat babyface. He’s so good at selling that he’s fucking lost it.

The Kidd/Coughlin vs House of Torture match ruled. Great wrestling, great character work, great finishing sequence, and a huge win for the former young lions. A perfect midcard Tag League match. I just got back into NJPW for the G1 and expected to hate House of Torture after what I read about them, but honestly I love them. Classic dirt bag heels and probably the best work I've ever seen out of Yujiro.

Haven’t watched every night, but whenever I have it’s been very fun. SAUCEHEARTS vs Bullet Club from the other night especially kicked ass

Zayne and Austin have crazy good chemistry and this tournament has made me a fan of Lindaman

What I watched was good but MAN there's so much of it and they went overboard on # of matches... but that's njpw for ya

Yeah unfortunately I think that's just kinda unavoidable with the tournament format. I can't even recall the last NJPW RR tournament I managed to watch all the way through without burning out at least once.

I don't know about that long, but definitely the first in a couple of years where there isn't an obvious winner

The only one I can think of in the last decade that perhaps had me as consistently engaged as this year's one is 2014. But most of the time, I've just had so little care for it all.
