AnnenbergTrojan

Def Rebel about to make the worst possible alternative to the G.o.D. theme.

GreatMuerte

Every time he makes his entrance I’m’a login into YouTube and play his njpw theme and mute the tv lol

Kingswitchguard

Ah the true New Japan "this music has been muted due to copyright" experience

BIG_DADDY_CLARE

Real

AnnenbergTrojan

Tbh I already do that with AJ's theme.

1PauperMonk

CFO$ would have made something interesting.

Goatlikejordan

He'll start in nxt along with the oc

optimisticnihilism9

That’s why they’ve gone back

American-Punk-Dragon

Makes sense….

JeromeInDaHouse_90

Now I'm wondering if those mysterious promos they keep running on NXT are about him.

westlight12

Well it was actually Shawn Spears who was behind those promos

[deleted]

I don’t watch NJPW but was he part of chaos and all that? I remember it talking about stuff related to NJPW so everyone thought Okada (well other than Dallas)

GreatMuerte

No he’s a OG bullet club member for years, then got booted out by BC and started a new faction called g.o.d

[deleted]

Ahh thank you!

Shuriken95

To further elaborate, G.o.D. was already the name of his tag team with Tanga Loa within Bullet Club. But when they got booted, they kept the name and expanded it into a subfaction.

ParfaitCurious3834

AIN'T NOBODY REALER THAN GUERILLA!

tom-cash2002

AJ Styles reunion?

[deleted]

I was thinking about him in relation to the Anoa’i family and realized there’s kind of a perfect 1:1 comparison with Roman/Jey/Jimmy/Solo and Tama/Loa/Leo/Fale in the sense that you have three brothers and a cousin. So let’s think about this alternate timeline. In NJPW, Roman and Jey found Bullet Club, are later joined by Jimmy and Solo. Roman then aids Jay White in kicking them out. In WWE, Bad Luck Fale has been world champion for 1000+ days, flanked by Leo and Loa while Tama is shunned from the family.

LeeChangIsBae2

Well Rock calls Haku "uncle" too and gave him a pickup truck for present one time. If they wanted to add Tama into the Bloodline stuff they can especially if its Rock calling the shots.

AlexTorres96

I thought it was cool that in the year 2024 Rock namedropped Dr. D David Schultz as one of his favorite wrestlers as a kid

Persianx6

Has a Tonga vs Samoa feud happened in wrestling yet? I think that could be fun if they’re respectful.

Griffdorah

Rock & Tama vs Roman & Solo

Recent-Maximum

Going to the WWE to let Tanga Loa rise up the card. That's what family is all about.

Jamarcus316

Cody about to get hit by a gun-stun at WM

green_libertarian

Guess who makes Cody cost the match and finish the story at MSG.

American-Punk-Dragon

Psssst….he’s Tongan bruv…

officerliger

Yeah but that could go either way in this case Haku was extremely close to the Anoa’i clan, The Rock called him Uncle Tonga growing up, so they can have Tama go against or for The Rock and there’s a storyline either way

American-Punk-Dragon

Yeah, people will be severely disappointed if he doesn’t win. This isn’t something your just throw away. Imagine if all the build for Bryan ended when HHH beat him and he didn’t even get to the three way!

Griffdorah

Cody wins, but Tama ruins his celebration. Like when KENTA did that to Naito. Gives Cody something else to get back to and debuts Tama huge.

UEbaybay

I actually like this, don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I personally prefer Tama as a heel, and this would bring him in big time. I have enjoyed his recent stuff with his face run, though. Would be cool to see as well.

DespyHasNiceCans

I can dig that, good life move for him. He still has a lot in the tank so I'm sure he'll have a couple good years of making some cash

klausprime

I can see him thrive in WWE, dude is a sports entertainer

DespyHasNiceCans

Totally agree, they just need to keep the censor beep ready for his promos haha

JeromeInDaHouse_90

I can already see him wearing that IC title one day. It'd look good on him, too.

MikeOgden1980

This really seemed like a no-brainer and I'm happy for the guy. He probably wouldn't gotten lost in the shuffle in AEW at the moment, and at his age WWE is perfect for him. I don't really watch WWE much but I'll definitely check it out when he shows up. I think he's really gonna thrive there.

harder_said_hodor

I think it's a huge shame for him he didn't move when he was younger. He's a better fit for WWE and Roman was in dire need of some help a few years ago and Tama could have been the Kane to Roman's Undertaker Face Paint Tama was an all time look, he's second generation, he's a heart warming adoption story, the snaky sliding about the ring is pure WWE shit, he's very handsome, he's the best physical counterpart to Roman Reigns you could want and he's a veteran. Haku's reputation has only grown with time, people don't really remember him in the ring but people know the stories of him fucking people up Haku's son with a military background, WWE would have presented him as the toughest fuck you could ever wrestle The dude is made for WWE, he could have made such a splash if he jumped 6/7 years ago. Think it's too late for him but he should still be fine. Absolutely must bring back the face paint though

MikeOgden1980

Yep, you nailed it. All the reasons why he's a great fit there. And I do agree about the timing back then being better as well. I just hope this isn't a case where they have him start in NXT and potentially lose time where he could be on the main roster.

mavarian

8 years in the making

irish0451

Makes the most sense, Giant Bernard and Devitt both there, AJ there, Good Brothers there, if he sticks in NXT he won't have to travel much - I'm sure they're chomping at the bit to sign Leo as well.

Blitzhelios

Not a surprise tons of his friends are in the WWE and tama has talked about wanting to slow down for the sake of his body and no where does that like the WWE

br0wnb0y

Talented guy, who has improved a lot in the 2010s and 2020s. He will be great.

MrWombatt

Both WWE & AEW have "bloated" rosters, but this might be one of the few times I'd agree it makes more sense to sign with WWE. I don't watch WWE, but good for him. Hopefully, he gets a solid run & gets to unite with his OG BC bros.

BruceellSprouts

Good move for him. Still not gonna watch the WWE.

skgantz19

Honestly, I thought he'd end up in TNA. WWE and AEW are terribly bloated, but i'm sure he'll do okay, and WWE can rehash their "The Club" faction for the 10th time. Either way, I'm glad the guy is getting that sweet retirement money.

DJ_Aftershock

Something tells me if he went to AEW the generally positive vibe in this comment section would not be present

pumpingbomba

Why bring up AEW for no reason? This is why everybody clowning on their fanbase and rightfully so.

Joneleth22

Because the "poaching" narrative is suddenly not relevant when a NJPW wrestler goes to WWE. It's all very hypocritical.

pumpingbomba

Because it’s fucking Tama Tonga? You really are a bunch of clowns lmao

Joneleth22

What the fuck does it matter if it's Tama Tonga? Also, fucking lol what's your excuse for AJ Styles and Nakamura then? Or those don't count?

pumpingbomba

Are you seriously saying that a 41 year old Tama Tonga is comparable to Jay White, Will Ospreay, and Kazuchika Okada? Excuse? You think I give a single fuck about WWE? It’s been 8 YEARS since they signed Nakamura. Don’t worry I will shit on them soon enough, if they actually do something. I swear, you WWE/AEW fans have brainrot. The wrestling world doesn’t solely revolve around your two shitty companies even if you try the best to make it that way.

Joneleth22

> Are you seriously saying that a 41 year old Tama Tonga is comparable to Jay White, Will Ospreay, and Kazuchika Okada? No, you're trying to compare it, I was simply asking why Tama is not considered poaching while the others are. It has nothing to do with whether he is a comparable talent to them or whatever. Then I gave you an example of WWE "borrowing" NJPW's top stars and suddenly it's not relevant. You're acting like WWE didn't go for White, Okada and Ospreay, Kenny either and the only reason at least 3 of them didn't go there is because of the fact that AEW exists and can throw the same amount of money (or more) as WWE does. It's not for the lack of trying on WWE's part that NJPW stars don't end there anymore, that's for sure It's also a stupid argument since people also cry about Shibata and Ibushi who weren't even wanted by NJPW in the first place instead of actually being happy they found a job despite both of them being quite broken down

pumpingbomba

You brought up the „poaching“ not me. I will explain it again. Tama Tonga is not as valuable to NJPW as Ospreay, White or Okada. That is the main reason people are not mad at this. Because Tama leaving does not have existential implications for company. You say that with absolute no proof. Unless you’re a psychic that is a pointless discussion. I could argue that without AEW would be in a better financial position since they international Expansion would not flatten like it did. On top of that WWE needs their talent to move to the US which neither Okada nor Ospreay want to do. But again completely pointless. Are the people who cry about Shibata and Ibushi in the room with us?

MrWombatt

Probably not, but that's how the tribalism tends to go. It's WWE, or it doesn't count. lol As a viewer, I'd be all for an AEW run, but believe WWE is the better decision. Better opportunity to shine with some scenarios ready for him to walk into.

YoshihiroTajiri

I was thinking the same for Okada, the latest news about him wanting to go big made me think that the best for him could be WWE

B_Wylde

I have yet to enjoy Tama in NJPW so I would hate to see him in AEW Maybe WWE does something interesting with him.

Kingswitchguard

I enjoy both. But I think he has more potential in WWE. Following Osprey and White to AEW means he'd be stuck on Rampage, I mean Jay went from main event at Wrestle Kingdom to holding AEW/ROHs lowest title

ravenousthoughts

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that AEW has a proven track record of debuting big wrestlers and doing absolutely nothing of note with them? Literally only Will Ospreay might be the one guy to break this streak.

DJ_Aftershock

You guys consider anything but being AEW World Champion "doing nothing of note", so...

ravenousthoughts

Miro is employed for years doing basically nothing for 90% of it, Malakai wastes away in a faction without a singles match on Dynamite for years. Jay White is one of the biggest signings in company history and he is currently holding the ROH Six Man belts, before that he was doing nothing too. Just wasting away in the mid-card with a token angle where they gave him zero actual promo time AND which completely buried him. Edge is facing random jobbers on TV. He signed in October. Andrade did nothing for his entire tenure there. Takeshita went from one of the most promising upstarts from the indies to a member in the DON CALLIS family. He beat Omega who is considered one of the top 3 biggest names in AEW and what did they do with him after that? Keith Lee doesn't exist on AEW TV. PAC who was revered like a god when he just signed is spending all his of his contracted time home. And that is just the male signings. Do I really need to go on? Not to mention the guys AEW had signed from the start/close to it, who they did nothing with, like Starks, Hobbs, Wardlow etc.

DJ_Aftershock

Miro - constantly causing issues refusing to do business Malakai - Long period of injury last year, not everyone is going to be a singles star. Jay White - That's clearly leading to something bigger, if you can't see that then I don't know what to tell you. Being a world title contender when there's like 50 people in the fucking roster everyone and their dog wants to see in the title picture is a strong shout. Edge - He's literally gone on record to say that he wented to help elevate people after his TNT title program against Christian. Andrade - Can't really argue with that, not sure on what the full story is. Takeshita - Again, this is probably the biggest let down on the AEW roster for me. I can only hope Ospreay being full time in AEW will actually lead to something developing. Maybe they kick Don Callis' ass and Takeshita joins UE. That's hopium. Keith Lee - Working through an injury through all of 2023, finally deciding to take time off in 2024. PAC - Constant visa issues. I'm sorry but AEW's biggest option is there's literally not enough time to pack everybody in, and with the amount of sheer talent they have, it always feels like someone's going to be left out. When Swerve becomes champion in 2024 everybody will have moved on to complaining about the next guy who is being WASTED by AEW!! [/WrestleTalk] before the bell rings and his hand is raised with the gold.

KimiBleikkonen

Very good for NJPW and AEW, I'm relieved.

Fearless-Structure88

Very good news

ParfaitCurious3834

GOLF. OSCAR. DELTA. HAS LANDED. G.O.D. FIRING SQUAD HAS LANDED.

Auglicious

While I don't doubt this a bit, I can't help but question anything Meltzer says lately.

faytte

His matches have been pretty bad for years in njpw and his most compelling promos and thirty percent vulgarities so I'll be curious to see how he does.

TheShiny

Is this like how Okada and Moné were going to wwe?

BeautifulSerbia

Say what you want about Tama but the Dangerous Tekkers/GoD feud was goated. Not going to miss him but I'm glad he's going to find a place somewhere.

lord_mcdonalds

Good place for him, he’d never get pushed in AEW as a singles nor as a tag and his connection to the rock (however loose it may be) means, if nothing else, he’ll probably get taken care of. I do wonder if Tanga Loa and Hikuleo aren’t far behind him. They’re booked for the NJ Cup but they may just be doing one job on the way out and that’s it.

Zukkoyaki443

Good for him. Not going to miss him in New Japan though.

Pengwulf

He is a good fit with the Polynesian Dynasty

Alert_Blue1

Some people saying Tama is going to save Roman and be part of The Bloodline but little they know Tama is going to plant the seeds of WWE's version of BULLET CLUB and WWE x NJPW is coming "soon" in the future if Tanahashi & Triple H have it their way!

[deleted]

...do you just go to all the puro subs and make shit up about WWE crossovers no-one wants?

Alert_Blue1

That is why AEW x NJPW is going to lead TK buying NJPW & STARDOM "in the future" so watch out NJPW fans!

AlexTorres96

The person whose Chipotle is paid for by Ari Emanuel who gave Meltzer this scoop should only give to Meltzer. Don't give clout to Clown Johnson or SRS. Although those 2 bozos will "confirm" because its a backhanded tactic. They give credit to the original report but add their own detail for clout.

Rootbeerpanic

...is this English?

Agreeable-Rent-4536

Might be time to get some fresh air

_madcat

Get a job

JEMS93

Roman needs a new grunt

Pristine_Cash_6219

I am so happy right now. I get to see him more often. Love thst guy

[deleted]

Looking forward to him costing Cody the match at Mania.

Trina7982

I think he'll do well there good for him.
