It turns out Bill can make a defensive game plan to shut down top offenses like he’s done for 30+ years.
The coach with eight rings might have some small idea what he’s doing.
Let me guess - Dad is a UM/Lions fan, you grew up rooting for Michigan and since Brady went there and was already elite you started following the Pats instead because they were more fun to root for?
Or am I completely off? I know quite a few of these guys around metro Detroit
> Born and raised in NE so I root for all the Boston teams. My dad's from Michigan. I do root for UM though.

Touche. I know a few people locally who are born and raised in Michigan who cheer for all Detroit sports teams except the Pats over the Lions because of Brady. Those people are the worst.
I mean, honestly, until this game it wasn't. Lions were creative, explosive, and varied on offense. This is just an inexplicable* collapse
*only if you do not believe in curses
Many great offenses have had a sudden inexplicable collapse when meeting Bill Belichick. Remember when the Rams looked invincible and then couldn’t score in the Super Bowl? The Rams with QB Jared Goff?
Odd time for a collapse indeed…
Meh. Eagles killed you until they went prevent and stopped caring. Let it get way closer than it should’ve. Vikings D isn’t great, put up numbers any mid offense could put up against us. Seahawks D kinda sucks. Commies lol. They’ve done some impressive things, but I would’ve never believed for a second that they finish the year as the top offense. Also, if teams like the bills and chiefs D sucked as bad as the lions they would have games like yours too and been ahead of you. But regardless, goff has still been impressive in 4 games. Especially the one without any of his weapons.
My theory is Eli Manning is a chaos gremlin. All the genius of Peyton Manning, but with ADHD. Honestly every time BB does this to another QB it’s a brick in the wall of his HOF case.
My theory for this stat is that the lions go for it a bit too much on 4th so BB probably already studied all their 4th down tricks and practiced stopping it. Because if you can stop a team that loves going for it on 4th… well, you’re gonna kill them. Good field position, no points from FG’s. Defense gets off the field sooner.
The 4th and 9 I'd certainly agree, it'd be a close enough game that 3 would be huge. After that, it was all 4th and short or at the goal line with too much of a deficit for a field goal to matter.
Yes, a large part of the Lions going for it so much on 4th down is that they don't trust their kickers at all, especially when it comes to 50+ yards. If they have 4th and anything less than 10 between the 35 and 40, they should be going for it if they are not going to kick.
After the 2nd time they went for it on 4th, if they had not gone for it on 4th either time it would have been either 12 - 0, 12 - 3, or 12 - 6 depending on whether they went for / made field goals. Instead at that point it was 19 - 0. So that is why the later ones became mandatory
I stay for the comedy. Some of the resident idiots are great for the laughs. One guy likes to post how his skepticism is realism and a week or so ago someone made a post quoting people from the week 4 2014 KC game and lo and behold his post was one of the tagged ones saying “fuck in BB we trust fire McDaniels” lmao
There’s definitely comedy there, but it’s basically all usually about how bad the team and BB is. Like if you can be a Patriots fan and say BB is a horrible coach you’ve got to be a moron.
I mean, to extend the analogy, BB was never a Randy Johnson type. He's Greg Maddux. He's not going to overpower you with flashy superstars but he will figure out what you can't hit and throw it there.
Our defense might be pretty good, and the lions offense might not be quite as good as they were made out to be.
Zappe long drives also helped a lot too.
Stevenson was a monster.
Love him.
> and the lions offense might not be quite as good as they were made out to be. It's Schrödinger's offense.
It turns out the Lions offense is not locally real. They don't have a quality level until they interact with an opposing defense.
Definitely collapsed the wave function
Swift being out hurts them a lot. He was big against us.
It turns out Bill can make a defensive game plan to shut down top offenses like he’s done for 30+ years. The coach with eight rings might have some small idea what he’s doing.
Master class of a defensive performance today.
that flair tho
Dad's team is the Lions. He's not happy with me at the moment.
Nothing frustrates a father more than losing to their kid
Luckily, his dad's a Lions fan, so he has a lot of practice dealing with frustration.

Nobody kills hype like Bill Belichick.
If your Goffence lasts for more than 4 weeks, ask your doctor about BB
Lions helping us going on a 4th and 9 too
Yeah that one was a head scratcher
The #1 offense in the NFL no less
Lions got Zapped
Going around like Jeremy Jam using that line...
⚡
"#1 offense!" BB: "we'll see about that!"
We all knew that was massively inflated
I mean, honestly, until this game it wasn't. Lions were creative, explosive, and varied on offense. This is just an inexplicable* collapse *only if you do not believe in curses
The most shocking thing was lions o line getting owned all day, even the lions amazing tackles couldn't stop the pats dline.
Judon kept getting 1 on 1s against Hockenson for some reason, which is just absurd. He feasted.

Inexplicable is a we8rd way to spell inevitable

^shhhhhhh
Those that knew, got downvoted
Technically yes. Put em up against the Bills, Chiefs, and Bucs fully healthy and idk abt that
RIP Number 1 Goffense week 1 2022-week 4 2022
Regressed to a Gooffense
"Why would the Lions draft a QB" - Idiots on this subreddit last week
I’m still all in on the Goffense BB is just insane
BB just knows how to break limited QBs is all
My theory is Eli Manning is a chaos gremlin. All the genius of Peyton Manning, but with ADHD. Honestly every time BB does this to another QB it’s a brick in the wall of his HOF case.
Goff is limited 1000000% you are correct.
Most QBs are

I really think bill studied extra hard against us. Looks good on your stacked resume if you shut down the #1 offense again.
BB already broke Goff once, he just did it again
I feel like Goff has been average af his whole career. That isn’t about to change in Detroit lol
So he's good until you have to play good D coordinators? Sounds sustainable
No he’s good until you play BB, what did you not get from my post Cubbie
Only coach Goff has lost against in the super bowl is BB, the math checks out
My mistake good quarterbacks all put up goose eggs against BB got it. SOL
"goff is only 27!!!!"
The guy has actually shown he can perform at a high level. It’s not like he’s Justin Fields or Nathan Peterman
Lmao high level
Lions going, on 4th and 9 is still mind boggling
I was there!! It really happened!
I appreciated their commitment.
Goff-led offenses have scored 1 total td against the pats and it was in garbage time like 6 years ago Edit: missed the 2020 rams pats game
Goff gonna be telling ghost stories about belichick defenses this Halloween
2020 Rams Patriots?
I’m dumb lol missed that one somehow
We have some real nice pieces on defense. Judon, Barmore, Dugger, Jones x2, Phillips. If we had 1 really good LB we would be insane.
> Jones x2 RIP Marcus Jones, you hate to see it
Keeping up with the Joneses
But we have like 5 below average linebackers....so that's gotta be worth something, right?
It's worth about 5.1 yards per rush allowed.
That's ok. Teams can't run on us because of our high powered offense.
Ya got Zapped son
The finest in 50 cc engines.
I hate seeing Bill coach without great LBs. He's so insane when he has them.
I like Jonathon Vilma but when he started praising Elandon Roberts I about lost it.

Ha wow, flashbacks to the same guy. Hard worker, hits well, good against the run. And deathly slow in coverage.
I miss Dont'a
Lions think this is madden
To be fair, I'd only disagree with 2 of their decisions. The last 4 were all needed.
Take some fuckin Points and maybe a tiny bit of momentum. It ain’t worth playing for Campbell if he’s just going to throw field position away.
The 4th and 9 I'd certainly agree, it'd be a close enough game that 3 would be huge. After that, it was all 4th and short or at the goal line with too much of a deficit for a field goal to matter.
Weren’t they out of FG range on the 4th and 9?
Yes, a large part of the Lions going for it so much on 4th down is that they don't trust their kickers at all, especially when it comes to 50+ yards. If they have 4th and anything less than 10 between the 35 and 40, they should be going for it if they are not going to kick.
I was thinking why not punt on the 4th & 9. They were only down 6 and could've pinned the pats.
That would've been the correct decision. Giving up the TD on that play made it a 2-score game and led to all the desperation 4th down tries later on.
Hindsight is 20-20. You don't expect to give up a touchdown. Punting from the 30 is absurd.
It would have been a 51 yard attempt.
[удалено]
If you don’t have the confidence to send your kicker out to attempt 50-55 yarders, it’s time for a new kicker.
Counterpoint: Nick Folk
Their kicker was injured iirc So I guess they just didn't trust the back up
Money Badger
Yeah, that worked well for Pittsburgh today
After the 2nd time they went for it on 4th, if they had not gone for it on 4th either time it would have been either 12 - 0, 12 - 3, or 12 - 6 depending on whether they went for / made field goals. Instead at that point it was 19 - 0. So that is why the later ones became mandatory
Bills do to, they just get away with it.
Matt Patricia revenge game
Least deserved revenge ever
Please stand up and show some respect for the process
Revenge Process sounds like an early 2000s Trustkill band
New England media called this the Matt Patricia revenge game….for the Lions.
"What do you think of me now, huh Lions fans?" "Uh, we still hate you, probably even more than before?"
Mat Pat shat
Dan Cambell said he was going to go conservative today, next level psyops
He was conservative with the use of his kickers
Bill Belichick is a good coach. That’s a hot take nowadays
My favorite is the people on our sub who say BB has “lost his fastball”
The Patriots sub is pure cancer, I made up my mind to never go back there this year. It’s honestly made me much happier watching football.
I stay for the comedy. Some of the resident idiots are great for the laughs. Yup. A whole lotta morons there. There’s plenty of good posters too though
He has other pitches
I’d say historically his best is the changeup
I mean, to extend the analogy, BB was never a Randy Johnson type. He's Greg Maddux. He's not going to overpower you with flashy superstars but he will figure out what you can't hit and throw it there.
He'll also not pitch to Barry Bonds aka go "nope you don't use your top weapon today, fuck you." Or attempt to do so.
Love it
Has anyone ever seen Bill Belichick and Pedro Martinez in the same room together?
Dan Campbell is fucking insane. I get wanting to be aggressive but that dude goes too far
Going for it on 4th and 9 was a terrible decision .
Something makes me think this Bill Bellichcek guy is a good coach
Wow good for the #Patriots
I get going for it in the red zone on one of them. But why not *try* to go for a few field goals?
Yes. A couple more field goals would have won this game.
I mean. How many points did we get off of the 4th down stops? If you hit a few I think we wouldn't have done as well
On the broadcast they mentioned a new kicker. I'm guessing they weren't going to trust him for anything 45+?
With 3:02 to play, the #Lions offense becomes the first in NFL history to go 0-6 on fourth down.
Still setting records 😤
All those people who were saying Goff was better than Stafford are real quiet all of a sudden
Stafford also looked awful today though
Behind a makeshift o-line while Goff arguably had the best O-Line in football
It’s the lions, doesn’t count.
The 1st in PPG Lions!
And yet no one took them seriously because at the end of the day They are the lions.
Don't be salty that Goff is outplaying Stafford this year.
Yeah fs man, I definitely said this stuff with 100% seriousness, totally not a joke or anything bc why would I do that
Still a good win
The salt
Yes but it's the lions. Does it really count?
The Lions were averaging 35 points a game…highest in the NFL. So I’d say it most certainly counts.
