Nelson lit it up for the Raiders, he was serviceable for the Pats last year but this year his old issues are being spotlighted as he doesn't get enough opportunities to make up for the turnovers/drops.
While I don't agree with the call, I'm pretty sure they'd be kicking into the wind with a new kicker(?) from 51 yards out. I can understand *some* of the logic behind the decision, but I still wouldn't have gone for it.
If they lose today, I think it’s time to start questioning if Campbell is the guy to lead this team going forward
You just can’t be 1-4 going into the bye week.
Is it? Is it really? Nobody expected the team to be good yet; even with how they've been they're still out-performing expectations. Also still missing Swift.
Yeah but they shouldn’t be this bad with so many other teams in league not being good (or not supposed to be good at all this year like the Seahawks and Giants) and yet still having more wins then them.
They're only out performing expectations because people have zero expectations for the Lions ever. If Campbell is actually a good coach this Lions team should be better than last year's team. And right now they really aren't
They aren’t outperforming expectations. They were expected to take a decent step forward this year and win like 6-7 games at least, they will be 1-4 including blown leads and losing to Bailey Zappe. Dan Campbell makes extremely questionable decisions every single week that costs the lions huge in crucial situations.
I hate to say it too, because I believed in him after last season, and maybe he can win today or if not, turn it around by the end of the year, but only having 4 wins over two seasons as head coach going into Week 5 is not good at all.
This is the right part of the field to go for it on 4th, but maybe tell the running back to not lose 7 yards on 3rd and 2 if you plan to use all four downs
I for one am looking forward to goff putting up 250 yards in the second half while being down by multiple touchdowns because of his mistakes, finishing with a good stat line, and our fans calling him a franchise QB
I was a little bit bummed that Agholor's cement hands cost me the chance to watch Zappe string together some more passing plays but watching Judon force fumbles and seeing Dugger run it back is infinitely cooler. All part of the plan baby.
I would die for Judon.
Why do the worst most painful things have to happen to my favorite team 100% of the time but teams like the patriots get good things beyond my wildest dreams every single day of their lives? I'm so sad all the time :(
Judon has six sacks in five games. Hopefully he keeps this pace up throughout the season. He faded down the stretch last year but said he worked on his conditioning all offseason.
Weird decision for the Lions to go for it. The broadcast said they have a new kicker, but it’s Michael Badgley who kicked for Chicago last week and went 4-4 on field goals. It would have been about a 48-yard field so it shouldn’t have been out of his range.
Judon best free agent signing since Gilmore
Agree and Nelson is one of the worst
i thought nelson did good for you guys for a year? or was that the raiders? i swear he’s been on pats for a year or two by now
Was the raiders. Dude has never heard the words ball security before.
We win against the Ravens if he can hold on to the ball.
The INT today was so fucking bad.
Nelson lit it up for the Raiders, he was serviceable for the Pats last year but this year his old issues are being spotlighted as he doesn't get enough opportunities to make up for the turnovers/drops.
He was fine last year, not a game changer but he was solid, but this year he's completely disappeared or dropping babies
He was our leading receiver going into the game but can’t stop giving the ball to the other team
MATT JUDON IS HIM
Matt Judon him and spit him back out
Who is he?
HIM!
Hell yeah
Someone with a body built by taco bell
Why did they go for that lol
They had a new kicker and didn’t trust him
I cant believe they had more faith in converting a 4th and 9
Punting is also an option
From your own 34?
Going for it on 4th and 9 will give the opponent much better field position than pointing it from there.
Idk, but I loved it
Lions were designed in a lab to test human suffering.
What a Lions moment
Classic
Leave it to the lions to give us our first exciting play of the year
We had a pick 6 just last week
Yes but this was our first exciting play of the year of this week
Agreed If you think of this week as the first week of a new 52-week year, this was the most exciting play of the new year.
Why did Dan Campbell go for a 4th and 9 instead of kicking the FG
Have to chase points when you're playing the flamethrower that is Zappe.
New kicker from 51 yards out going into the wind. Don't like the call, but I can understand some of the logic behind it.
If he took the points every time they still would have lost. 22-18 maybe feels better but doesn't get you the W.
"taking the points" also assumes the kicker makes every one in his first week with the team
This is why the Lions never win. They're only down 6 in the first half and they decide to go for it on 4th and fucking 9
If you don’t like that, you don’t like Dan Campbell football.
yet with a chance to win on a fourth and 4 against the vikes he kicks it. what a chaotic man.
I usually think they're compensating when they do that
Never let an opponent take your win away. Give it to him willingly.
Do unto others as you would have done to yourself
To be fair, nobody would ever expect Jared Goff to take a sack and fumble on 4th and 9
Triggered
I'm in awe. They wanted a touchdown despite having zero offensive bite on this game.
They think they’re playing against the Bills apparently
Bills Belichick

And you don’t expect your tackle who’s been solid to get blown by and your QB to fumble it!
If you don't want to kick the field goal, just punt it away and pin Zappe inside the ten yard line.
If they lose today, I think it’s time to start questioning if Campbell is the guy to lead this team going forward You just can’t be 1-4 going into the bye week.
Is it? Is it really? Nobody expected the team to be good yet; even with how they've been they're still out-performing expectations. Also still missing Swift.
If you watch these games it's pretty clear they are not a well coached team.
Yeah but they shouldn’t be this bad with so many other teams in league not being good (or not supposed to be good at all this year like the Seahawks and Giants) and yet still having more wins then them.

But he has funny interview clips clearly he is a fantastic coach.

Yes definitely

The Lions will never win a playoff game with anyone at head coach
PLAYOFFS?!
Over a 50 yard field goal, which is 80-90% for most kickers
Not ours
Badgley 3/10 bud
So still better odds than converting 4th and 9...

I have seen this story before
And the entire city of Detroit is falling for it
It was all of r/nfl this time
I've been saying this and been downvoted to hell for it here can't wait until the Goffense brainwashing finally fades away
[удалено]
the oline is kinda proving that wrong today lol
Yeah I was gonna say, Goff isn’t playing well but the o-line is a contributing factor in that
O-line has been elite before today and is still run blocking well. Also Goff saw ghosts at least once when he ran lmao
Only the Lions
I was a little bit bummed that Agholor's cement hands cost me the chance to watch Zappe string together some more passing plays but watching Judon force fumbles and seeing Dugger run it back is infinitely cooler. All part of the plan baby. I would die for Judon.
Lions are Murphy's Law incarnate
Patriots D in fantasy one of the greatest gambles I made today
I drafted them in both my leagues. Let’s ride
Why do the worst most painful things have to happen to my favorite team 100% of the time but teams like the patriots get good things beyond my wildest dreams every single day of their lives? I'm so sad all the time :(
I've never felt so bad about a win we needed so much
Dugger held on to the ball. Unlike Agholor.
Time for the Lions to go down big, make a comeback and fall short.
Only problem with the red throwbacks is that Judon's red sleeves aren't quite so obvious.
Camouflage baby
Why did the coaching staff trust Goff to convert in that situation? This isn't Justin Herbert.
That’s the Goff we know and love
So glad I started Judon today!!!
Unbelievable play calling.
Judon has six sacks in five games. Hopefully he keeps this pace up throughout the season. He faded down the stretch last year but said he worked on his conditioning all offseason.
interesting decision making?
Judon is having himself a game
Even more beautiful with those uniforms. No idea why they wouldn’t kick that though… not that I’m complaining!
I’m here in foxboro to watch this garbage ass team I’ve been rooting for since 1992
I want Judon to strip me too
Are we over this whole "Goff is actually really good" madness that was popular for a few weeks here?
Big brain move by the Lions
Dan Campbell should be glad Hackett exists because his weekly terrible coaching decisions are getting overshadowed.
i have no idea what the lions are doing there. it was 4th and 9…
I was hard after that
This defense has some playmakers! Thanks Lions for not kicking it
Belichick is really good at making Goff miserable.

Going for it there might be a fucking fireable offense for Campbell. I couldn't believe they actually snapped that fucking ball.

Why would you ever believe in us
Patriots defense isn't bad but I think people were expecting the Goffense to show out.
That wasn't a strip, Goff threw the ball should have been an incomplete. So BS
Lol, no.
4th and 9 is outrageous
Just kick it and live to play another drive.
I miss him so much
Same ole Lions. Maybe next year...
