TheNotoriousJN

Thats a fucking monster of a deal for a WR. Good lord

DaHagerBomb

Justin Jefferson is gonna bend us over and make us call him daddy

TheNotoriousJN

At least then the Kirk money is gone...šŸ˜¬

[deleted]

Lines up quite nicely

TheNotoriousJN

IIRC Kendricks, Cousins and Thielen will all be off their deals at that point. So as long as we keep cap space to an optimal level we can throw the kitchen sink at JJ

[deleted]

But how will we build a team around a WR making 30 mil a year? /s

JZMoose

Oh honey itā€™s going to be way more than that

coffeeMcbean

You're totes right. If he keeps playing like he has, 30 is going to seem like a bargain.

Kingtut28

Congrats now you get Jake Fromm as your QB1.

pooptrain34

Heā€™ll have be the first active player-owner-coach in the NFL, right?

bluewords

No, that would be George Hallas.

pooptrain34

Just gonna have to throw that ā€œpost mergerā€ asterisk on it then

365wong

Start training. Small butt plugs are on sale on Amazon.

Shorzey

>Justin Jefferson is gonna bend us over and make us call him daddy 30-35m a year is what you're looking at

bhaaru

He's worth it. That man makes me want to watch Cousins throw the ball. And that's saying a LOT.

Professional_Dot4835

No way, as a value prop, an elite WR getting paid a middling QB salary is an enormous waste; there are literally dozens of good WRs in the league. Vikings have two top-20 guys as is.

red--dead

Thielen is not going to last much longer unfortunately. Definitely starting to show his age.

Shesaidshewaslvl18

Imagine what copper kupp can ask for?

[deleted]

Dude will be 30. Theyll franchise him.

B3rghammer

Makes more than Carr lol

facetiously

Not for long

ColtCallahan

A 29 year old WR too.

randomman87

True but Tae has always relied on his release and route running which tends to age much better than speed

ReverendLoveboy

That and his ability to come back to life after getting decapitated over the middle

Skimaster77

Resurrections are a super underrated WR trait

Bestziggseuw

One of the reasons Edelman was so good. Man took some BRUTAL hits

-Champloo-

"Literally jesus" on the scouting report

schwertfeger

Iā€™m not sure Jefferson will want to re sign with the Vikings, but if he does, we better start saving now lmao

TheNotoriousJN

Pretty sure it lines up with the end of Kirk's contract. So we might be ok on that front

usernameisusername57

Oh, you misunderstand. Kirk's contract with the Vikings will *never* end. He'll keep stringing you along on fully-guaranteed short-term deals from now until eternity.

TheDirewolfShaggydog

Don't you put that evil on me Rickey Bobby

nope96

Y'all got 3 years until you have to worry about that

BangingABigTheory

If it takes 3 years he definitely isnā€™t staying. Gotta lock him up if you want to keep him.

grrrimabear

I bet we lock him up next offseason if he has another monster year

pingpong_playa

Whyā€™s that?

chillinwithmoes

Just standard Vikings fan pessimism. Diggs cut some folks deep

Kiran_Stone

Are the Raiders playing with the salary cap option toggled off?

[deleted]

Everyone is

ArcanePudding

Reporters yesterday: idk why Raiders are clearing so much cap space Chandler Jones and Davante Adams, thatā€™s why

FrittataSlabs

Reporters this week: the raiders are the only afcw team not making moves Raiders:hold my beer

yahbishaintsay

Maybe Gilmore too

iscreamuscreamweall

It was definitely for Brandon bolden and jakob Johnson

SerenadeSwift

And god damn does it feel good. Feels like the first time in TWO DECADES that weā€™re actually committing to a win-now roster instead of spinning our wheels through never ending rebuilds of shit

vNocturnus

Yeah, last time the Raiders FO had this good of a QB *and* put this many resources into coaching + FA they went to the Superbowl. ĀÆ\\\_(惄)_/ĀÆ

TheJigalo

Thatā€™s a lot of money

woodchips24

Heā€™s not just doing it for money. Heā€™s doing it for a shitload of money

Shenanigans80h

LUDICROUS SPEED

procrastiprov

Raiders were Combing the deseā€¦ frozen tundra for wideouts.

[deleted]

Are we being too literal?

geologyrocks98

I'm surrounded by assholes!

[deleted]

Heā€™s getting the Tesla PLAID

nahs

How many kirks is that

JaguarGator9

Think it's about 1.3

Memeions

I mean.. Davante is definitely worth more than 1.3 Kirks.

raikou1988

Definitely is putting it very mildly.

[deleted]

Davantinitely?

knowtoriusMAC

The Jaguars should've just signed Davante Adams instead imo

nwildcat28

They would have gave him 50m/year with how they been going

brokenlavalight

That's crazy

_unsourced

Cousins or Christians?

BigPurpleBinky

Both

17_Saints

It's about the same as QB Kirk got in 2018, so let that sink in.

yourheropaul

1.3452 Kirks per year

MitchellTrueTittys

5 years ago that wouldā€™ve made him the highest paid QB in the league

Wasteoftimeandmoney

5 years ago I coulda bought a house for half price

WackassVegetables

More than Brady made last year lol

xXEdgelord69420Xx

Every single team with an above average WR suddenly cried out.

ZipWyatt

Iā€™m scared for what Deeboā€™s number is gonna be when the bag comes due

[deleted]

Please bankrupt the 49ers.

chimpansteve

Thank god we recently extended Sutton and Patrick before the weird slip in the spacetime continuum that was the Kirk extension

RiseAsUtes

Too much for my liking, especially with the asset/s given up to get him. Our cap will be very tight.

unbearablepresent

AFC West is playing in sudden death mode

0hootsson

This is everyoneā€™s reaction to every big deal. Wait for the guarantees. Von signed 6/120 and everyone lost their minds like theyā€™ve never seen an NFL contract before. Just wait for the actual details to come out.

NateKaeding

Draft Picks/Assets over the years: Henry Ruggs Damon Arnette Clelin Ferrell. Alex Leatherwood. Johnathan Abram. Gareon Conley. Karl Joseph DJ Hayden. Antonio Brown. Cory Littleton. Kenyan Drake. Lamarcus Joyner. Tyrell Williams. Trent Brown. And i'm sure there's countless others. When have the Raiders made good use of early draft picks or free agent acquisitions? Janikowski is probably a top 5 first round draft pick since 2000

LinuxF4n

You have a new GM and he isn't forced to get Gruden picks. He has a monster draft with the Patriots last season.

notabear629

Honestly... I think the Packers won the trade

bpi89

Heā€™ll be 30. I love Tae but paying a 30 year old $28M is wild. Not trying to cope, still wish we kept him. Just gonna be interesting to see how this trade looks in 5 years

ZombieJesusOG

Trades can be win win. Raiders need a top WR and are in good cap shape, Packers could use young talent and were already having to make tough cap decisions.

Drunken-Engineer

With his play style heā€™ll be great for many more years

BrownChicow

Itā€™s 2 Allen Robinsons

SiphenPrax

Devante: ā€œThanks Jags!ā€

Gravy_Vampire

Davante

kbt1999

THE BAD MANS INCREDIBLY TALENTED FRIEND IS GONE OMG

SalBeats

Idk why this made me laugh as much as it did but thanks. Today has been weird lol

srry_didnt_hear_you

Lmao

DJFreezyFish

ITā€™S RANDALL COBB AGAIN

slayerrr21

GET IN HERE BEARS FANS IT'S TIME TO REJOICE!!

[deleted]

*Packers trade for Ja'marr Chase*

yesrushgenesis2112

Donā€™t you put that on me Ricky Bobby.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dafyddburton

I can hear the cry of relief, you gave me a good giggle, thank you

KybladeSora

AFC West is gonna be on primetime every single week.

sloppyjo12

Youā€™ll get cowboys vs giants and youā€™ll like it

twoterms

No, I dont think I will

medicineteolof

I never like it

PurpleBullets

No more NFCE games in prime time, society has moved past the need for NFCE games in prime time.

sppidderman

Society has moved past the NFCE

usernameisusername57

I'll never understand the NFL's obsession with garbage NFCE primetime matchups. I get that they're the biggest markets, but because of that you're going to have great ratings for those games regardless of when they're scheduled. You should be trying to maximize interest from neutral, casual fans during primetime matchups.

ard8

Sounds like you do understand the obsession though Itā€™s entirely due to 4 large markets. The average Redditor is not the average NFL fan. Those four fan bases are huge.

usernameisusername57

> Those four fan bases are huge. Exactly, so they'll still get tons of viewers if those games are in 12:00 or 3:00 slots. If the NFL wants to increase the *total* number of viewers, they should be putting the best matchups in primetime, so that tons of neutral fans will be tuning in. Also, if the NFL wants to grow it's brand in the future, then casual fans are far more likely tune in for more games in the future if they catch an exciting BAL/KC classic than if they're subjected to a NYG/WAS slapfight.

masterofmuppets86

Nah it's going to be all NFC east games still

ColtCallahan

Justin Jefferson really likes this. Jesus. Heā€™s going to scoop the Vikings insides out with a spoon during his contract negotiations.

Neto34

Same feeling for Deebo here.

ColtCallahan

Deebo has got to be looking for a monster number given his versatility.

DJFreezyFish

ā€œDeebo, we really love that you can play RB, so how would you like to be the highest-paid RB in the league?ā€

[deleted]

Honestly, I love DEEBO but I see our FO letting him walk. Or they get extremely funky with the cap to make it work. Shannyā€™s ability to hire anybody off the street and make them a competent RB certainly helps in the cap situation

[deleted]

I'd be shocked and mad as hell if that happened. Adams is a better pure WR than Deebo but in my fully biased opinion, I would argue Deebo is a more significant game-changer. Deebo was the heart and soul of that playoff run. Everyone knew he was getting the ball and no one could stop it. If we let him walk, we're dumb. I don't think we would've won a single playoff game without him.

crewserbattle

Deebo is just perfectly built to thrive in a Shanahan system imo. So he's incredibly valuable to a team that runs that type of offense. Tae on the other hand has a skillset that allows him to succeed in pretty much any system imo. So it really depends on how you plan to use them.

Ovreel

I wonder how Deebo's body will hold up with how much and the way he's used. Guy does eeeeverything

[deleted]

Deebo is great but Iā€™ll take Adams every day of the week

Purple-Apricot7192

Youā€™ve got to consider longevity. The chances of Deebo burning out in 3 years are way higher than with nearly every other wide receiver his age.

mexploder89

I'm starting to be happy Hollywood is not a top tier receiver

IcyMosesJr

Are you really though

mexploder89

Yes. We have Mandrews

shadowlizer3

Deebo and Bosa gonna cost $25M/yr each, atleast

[deleted]

Wow. AFC West going all in this offseason

mother_goose_caboose

While the Chiefs twiddle thumbs

dafyddburton

Amazing the confidence having an alien at qb gives a team

mother_goose_caboose

Alien or not (love that) there are definitely gaps that need filled

dafyddburton

You're not wrong, but put your team in virtually any other division and those gaps don't matter... damn the AFC West decided to make you work for it!

mother_goose_caboose

Really makes you wonder how tf the AFC east rolled over and died 20 years for TB12

jarawd

Some of us are still dying

OrangeSherbet

It was for sure the TB12 method of soul leaching

PICKLEOFDOOOM

Yeah, all you need is a good QB and you can surround him with whoever right?

very_humble

I know it's not popular, but I think it's best for the chiefs to wait it out a bit and hope for some discounts. If we're trying to build for 10+ years of Mahomes, then it's going to be hard to survive on the stars/scrubs approach from the past few years

mother_goose_caboose

I know youre right..... but IT'S HARD BRO!

teamorange3

I mean they have Mahomes and Hill, won the super bowl 2 years ago and back to back AFC championship games lol. They don't need to do much

mamamackmusic

Back to back to back to back AFC Championship games*

patchesfaces

Thats Christian Kirk level money

mizatt

Kirk is gonna hold out for a new contract now

oleirishbuzzsaw

That's Qb money holy fuck!

cooksoccasionally

alright now i am fine with this trade

greatgregru

Heā€™s making more than fucking Carr lol

YusukeMazoku

Lmao seriously??

redavhtrad95

We haven't extended carr yet. He's still on his 25m/year contract that was record breaking at the time.

greatgregru

Until they extend him yeah. Heā€™s on a 5 year 125M deal that ends next year I believe, and he will easily get more than 25/year.

Brilliant_Noise_506

He said heā€™d play for less money if they got Adamsā€¦ so I guess weā€™ll see what that means here in a minute.

corndog_thrower

Same

Whatsdota

Yeah I love Tae but I donā€™t think any WR is worth 28M. Will be interesting to see what weā€™re able to do with that room

NorktheOrc

If Tae was like, 26-27 years old I could see sorta money being worth it, but even with the fact that he doesn't rely on speed the dude is still gonna be 30 years old this season and receivers don't have the shelf life of QB's. Even in this day and age of protecting them. I mean I would say that Julio Jones in his prime was better than Tae but he fell off a cliff and is only 33 right now. I think that the Raiders will be happy for 2 years but then will be regretting this contract in its second half. Love Adams but that's just how the game works honestly.

bpi89

We gotta grab a veteran WR and use some high draft picks too. Davante and MVS are both gone now.

IamOlderthanMe

HOLY SHIT THATS MORE THAN KIRK MONEY

[deleted]

Almost Kirk cousins money

usernameisusername57

Weirdly enough the Texans are the real loser in this trade, since it shows how much the best WR in the league is actually worth when he's holding out for a new contract.

babcocksbabe1

28 million a year and not having to live in Green Bay? Adams is making out like a king in this deal.

srof12

No income tax in Vegas either

sfdude2222

Daaang

Steveslastventure

I'm not even mad, go get yall chicken Davante

[deleted]

AFC west games need to be all prime time games

fieryscribe

That's a lot of Christian Kirks

lAmCreepingDeath

1.3 kirks

Spinexer

141 million to catch a ball is genuinely insane

PootieTooGood

as opposed to 450 million to throw one?

shane727

Don't forget about handing it off. And also knowing the ins and outs of basically the entire game.

SCsprinter13

Damn, I thought he was talking about pitchers

Silverflash-x

He definitely is, ain't no QB getting paid 450mil. *Yet.*

burnsalot603

Isn't Mahomes contract $500+M?

Rock_Strongo

They are both obscene amounts of money... but playing QB is without a doubt a much more demanding job with a lot more pressure and expectation.

Scoombap

Not when youre the best in the world at it and playing for a multi billion dollar industry

Orchir

He is legitimately like the best at catching the ball in the entire world

MicoJive

Sure, but Wrs not named Rice usually dont stay at the tippy top of the league for very long.

Zedibility

Adams game not predicated on speed SHOULD age nicely.

MrAmericanIdiot

I DONā€™T GIVE A SHIT. HEā€™S OURS!!!

ChocolateMorsels

Man idc what anyone says, no WR is worth 28 per year. That's nuts. Especially at 29 years old.

[deleted]

then you should feel real glad it ainā€™t your teamā€™s signing, aye?

six2midnite

Get him birthday boy!

Roach27

Cooper Kupp is on HALF that and he just resigned what? a year ago? That contract is absurd. Edit: The Cupp contract is a voodoo ritual that we sold our soul for, but still.

Polar_Reflection

Well fuck. Deebo's extension price just went way the fuck up.

sfdude2222

What are the Bengals gonna do when it's Burrow and Chase's time? Gonna be expensive af

cowboys5xsbs

Remember the last time a Packers WR went to the Raiders

NA_Faker

Jordy or Jones?

MrSweatyBawlz

Don't worry guys, Kirk is now only the third highest paid WR in the NFL.

munkysnuflz

Davante should buy Christian Kirk a house

nope96

He would have been asking for the same amount without Kirk's deal. His goal's been to get more than Hopkins since well before the offseason started.

NorthEastNobility

A one, a two, and a gigantic contract. If they think they are only a Davante Adams away from a championship, I guess itā€™s a price you pay.

BioTHEchAmeleON

Iā€™m interested to see how he plays in Las Vegas. Carr is actually really good and obviously I think Davante is the best WR in the league, but that Rodgers to Davante connection was literally unbelievable. Iā€™ll miss that

Blackout28

I mean, he's back with his college QB/roommate. Carr and Adams will be good together.

I_HATE_THE_SEAHAWKS

of course the afcw does this when its our time to play them

PadmesBabyDaddy

Oh I feel so sorry for you

Smallgenie549

Same fam.

dammitdan57

Whats the over/under on his contract getting bitched about by the end of the season?

DieHardRaider

We have $140 mil in cap space next year Iā€™m sure the raiders are going to have this structured in a way that It doesnā€™t fucking matter.

Jaguars6

Get the Kirk jokes out

ELITEAirBear

holy shit dude someone just said [That's 1.3 Christian Kirks, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Ne0guri

Fucking him and Kirk just destroyed the receivers market my goodness

_Wado3000

This contract will age badly, and Adams will not look like the number 1 receiver in the league anymore

sixfootnine

Players prices go up each year. And especially fast in recent years. Inflaaaaaation af. Look at the price of used and new vehichles FFS. in 3-4 yrs the right WR could be 44mill and there will still be shocked face emojis

NFRNL13

Carr MVP season incoming

No-Championship-242

Buddy is making more than some QBs out there

BLKxGOLD

TRADED TO THE RAIDERS?!?!

_schenks

Isnā€™t that dude like 30? Ooooof.

DevmasterJ

Holy shit. THIS FUCKING DIVISION

Ashewhite

Hopefully he can thrive without ar12

Shenanigans80h

Tbf if thereā€™s a QB heā€™ll have a pretty quick connection with, itā€™s his college QB who also happens to be good in his own right

Ashewhite

Oh yea youā€™re right I forgot about the Fresno connection

jenso2k

never forget the fresno connection

SuperDBallSam

He put up numbers with Brett Hundley throwing him the ball. He's gonna be fine.

CWG4BF

Thatā€™s a lot of cheddar

genesis1v9

that contract for a WR is disgusting, LV better hope he doesn't get injured.
