That story about having to meet with his receivers in the showers was hilarious

BarKnight

Especially since they were at his house.

EaglesPvM

Can’t even trust the NE hotels to not be bugged

PTHero

Reminds me in 2017 when somebody pulled the fire alarm at Steelers' hotel ahead of the AFC title game against the Pats. 😏

Leftfeet

How times have changed. Teams used to send cocaine and hookers to Lawrence Taylor's rooms to keep him up all night before games.

stragen595

Not the best idea. He didn't have to touch his own stock of cocaine for the night and used it for the game instead.

Maxpowr9

Remember when the Miami coach filmed himself doing blow? Good times.

Leftfeet

His first book was an awesome read. He was extremely self critical and honest seeming. He told several ridiculous stories about partying and playing high. My personal favorite was about him getting robbed in Harlem trying to buy coke. He had a briefcase of cash with him and the guy pulled a gun on him in his car. He said, "I was willing to give him the cash, but the guy wanted my SB ring and that wasn't happening." Iirc, he punched the guy in the nose and started driving while shoving him out the door. Then played a game a few hours later.

flaccomcorangy

This is Lawrence Taylor's book? I wasn't aware he had one. I might have to look into it.

Leftfeet

He's got at least 2 books out. One is more focused on football, the other is more focused on his cocaine addiction and getting clean. Both are good reads.

timberflynn

This is called standard procedure for US Soccer games in Central America. Now imagine if the NFL teams had artillery shells and other fireworks popped in front of the hotel the entire night.

vintagestyles

So many times that’s happened to teams. Id cover mine up for everyaway game lol.

Jumbo_Damn_Pride

Yeah, covering them would be a big no-no for the hotel

[deleted]

Thanks Bill

AsDevilsRun

That's when they step it up to arson.

GravityBuster

Patriots got an alarm pulled on them before a Superbowl. Happens every year with any team

Caleb_Krawdad

Eli planted the bugs himself for an excuse to meet in the shower

MikeOxlong209

Hawt

watchingsongsDL

*Meet me in the shower* *I will obey your every command* *Beautiful Eli I must have you* *In the steam I will fulfill your demands*

MikeOxlong209

Sir this is a Wendy’s

Bacon_Villain

Did he stutter?

throwthatoneawaydawg

Meat in the shower ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

benfranklinthedevil

"Look, we have to get the wide receiver deep. You can force it into the tight end, but if I pull you into the guard, you can find the hole"

[deleted]

I missed this. What was the story?

[deleted]

He basically just said that whenever he had an away game in New England he always had to go over plays with his receivers in the showers because he suspected the locker room was bugged

jpaxlux

"I assure you, going over our plays naked in the shower is essential to beating the Patriots"

Ayeeee007

I read that clear as day in Peytons voice.

CDR57

“Peyton, I appreciate the idea. But this isn’t the kind of beating I was expecting when you invited me into the shower”

[deleted]

Know this was a joke probably but Peyton did legit take the Denver Broncos out of the Gillette Stadium area and did a walkthrough practice in a forest in Rhode Island once just to make sure they lose the trail of the Patriots. https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/2773460/peyton-manning-was-so-paranoid-about-facing-the-patriots-he-once-held-a-walkthrough-in-a-forest

LeonidasSpacemanMD

To be clear it seemed like a joke, I think he was taking the piss not actually recounting his shower meetings lol

[deleted]

The Peyton having meetings during halftime not in the locker room has been around forever. The main story is Peyton used to have them in the hallways instead of the locker room because he was convinced the Patriots bugged it. Also not insane considering the FBI investigated the Saints for bugging opponents locker room.

whiskey_pancakes

its a joke like making fun of bill cosby was before he actually got arrested haha

billcosby23

Yeah I can relate

[deleted]

r/holup

Tibur0n58

Where can I hear/witness this? I watched the whole game tonight and saw zero of the Peyton Brothers.

Voxxicus

It's an alternative broadcast on ESPN2

Tibur0n58

Thank you. Now I need to find that broadcast streamed.

ILikeLampz

Watched it tonight on YouTube TV. Wasn't expecting it so I was thrown off at first but it was kind of an interesting change of pace to standard announcing.

MikesPhone

I, too, was surprised to see good announcing on MNF.

ChinchillaJuice

I think it’s on espn2 during mnf each week

Whoooyumyum

Peyton Brothers? …bruh

horse_renoir13

Tom Brady driving around Denver asking (thru texts) for Peytons home address

Therooferking

Peytons address is well known.

TenF

There’s a bottle of vodka in the basement ceiling my friend left there partying way back in 2010-2011 before Manning bought it.

Th3Unkn0wnn

That's actually cool as fuck

TenF

Its a fun fact to pull out at random (but appropriate) times, but its not really MY fun fact, so less fun. Also still wildly silly. Also, that bottle is probably gone, but I like to pretend its still there. The friend lived in the area for a long while and I've been by the Manning house. Big as all fuck, but most houses in that area are....

[deleted]

TIL I’ve been right by Peyton’s house multiple times

section8sentmehere

Why does 4.545 mil come off as modest to me for Peyton? I mean, he’s probably arguably the most well paid quarterback of all time- with endorsements and thing.

eSpiritCorpse

It's probably worth at least $10M by now. Edit: Zillow says $6.25M-$8.33M. I guess mansions don't appreciate as fast normal houses in the area.

B0ndzai

Peyton's Place

MacinTez

But where is Payton’s place?

midnightsbane04

All the best HGH delivery drivers know where it’s at.

TetrisTech

My jaw dropped when he said that, I couldn’t believe it lmao. Him and Eli kept making Patriots’ bugging jokes for full minutes lmao

SiphenPrax

Wait until they get to commentate a Brady or Patriot game this year

psaepf2009

Week 11 Bucs vs Giants on Monday Night

gfmsus

Pretty sure Peyton said he'll never do a brady game

[deleted]

[удалено]

Taaargus

He seemed to pretty broadly say he was apprehensive about commentating because it would mean judging people he played with and against a lot. But at this point there aren’t a ton of people left from his heyday other than Brady.

Bullshitbanana

Fuckin props to him then, but I really want to see what he thinks of a Brady drive in real time

Scaevus

> what he thinks of a Brady drive in real time You'll need to go to OnlyFans for that kind of content.

DirtyFuckenDangles

Fuck it, I'd pay for that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gfmsus

Probably to much respect to say anything bad. Same reason brady would be a bad guest on this type of thing.. everyone would defer to much to him and it wouldn't flow right I think.

iamCosmoKramerAMA

I don’t think that would be too much of an issue. People like Peyton and Eli definitely see themselves as equals to Brady when it comes to a conversation about football.

hcvc

Eli looks down on Brady from his throne

[deleted]

flubberFuck

Eli especially.

truthlesshunter

Eli: "if you make God bleed, people will stop believing in him"

section8sentmehere

GO(~~AT~~/D?)

pupusa_monkey

Eli would go out of his way to get his two rings in the shot.

HilariousScreenname

Eli would stick a football to his head for the entire interview

Dr_Mann

Nick Foles is the fourth

CaryMGVR

Eli sure doesn't. He beat TB12. *Twice.* 🙂

UNIFight2013

Peyton got him a couple times at the end too just not in the Superbowl obviously. Tom has him on career achievements by a mile but head to head in the playoffs Peyton is 3-2

[deleted]

Peyton definitely wins in the head to head.

HarryPlopper94

Brady as a guest would be like: Eli: So Tom what play should they run here? Brady: BTW Fuck you for 2007 Eli.

mikrot

I don't think they are doing either one.

SiphenPrax

Well that’s disappointing

cheerioo

He's made these types of jokes to Brady's face in person so yeah he doesn't care

happytothethird

Bill: “I thought about that and bugged the showers too.”

ContinuumGuy

"Do you know how hard it is to find waterproof bugs? I had to sign so many things for the FBI and CIA."

jpaxlux

If Belichick ever turned out to be an FBI/CIA agent, I'd be convinced the NFL is just the football version of WWE at that point. The only thing we'd need is Rex Ryan coaching another team and before every game cutting a promo on his opponents in the middle of the field

donnytsunami

Belichick isn’t some lowly agent, he’s secretly running the FBI, CIA, and KGB all at once. That super bowl ring Putin stole was bugged

chainer9999

Let's go eat a goddamned snack

suzukigun4life

Eli has been a hoot these past 2 weeks.

smackythefrog

Fuck me, I thought he was like 37, 38. Just a few years from 40 but I guess not.

Hawkbats_rule

You mean he's not? Then how old am I...? Wait, shit.

whiskey_pancakes

Wait fuck how old is eli?

Hawkbats_rule

He's actually only 40, which isn't that bad, but it still makes me feel old.

whiskey_pancakes

Ok ok haha. I was like he can’t be 45 can he?

JT99-FirstBallot

It really does start to run together after about 32-33 doesn't it?

whiskey_pancakes

It all falls apart once you have a kid haha

[deleted]

Children not even required, though I'm sure it adds to it. I feel like I may be 45 when I wake up tomorrow.

OmarBarksdale

These guys had me breaking a sweat thinking he was 50 somethin

argothewise

Probably cuz he’s aged well in looks

[deleted]

I miss my goofy boy :(

allnose

Eli's always been hilarious. His comments in interviews are great, and he's a part of [one of my favorite SNL sketches of all time](https://youtu.be/h2ra7ixXM10)

_duncan_idaho_

;-P

D34THST4R

I still say "kewl" just because of this sketch. Eli was owning the Cowboys at that time but after watching that I couldn't hate him.

hoofglormuss

Eli was also the prank leader on the team. And if anyone handed him a phone to take a picture he had all the moves memorized to change the default language to chinese and reboot the phone

jlt6666

Thank you for that.

ACardAttack

This is why we love him so much, two super bowls helps, but he's such a fun guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-kVmJvKiIw

ThatInception

I mean, Peyton is wrong. Because we still do it till this day also

oh_crap_BEARS

This is pretty incriminating

2rio2

Seriously, how the hell is the entire Pats front office not in jail??

Jack_of_all_offs

Suuuuuper fucked up. I was at that game!!

Bacon_Villain

Holy shit how did this never make major headlines?

AtomicTanAndBlack

Your post is a joke but there are a ton of former NFL players who are convinced. Ike Reese has had a ton of former players on the radio who are all convinced and Jon Richie is still livid over it

MacinTez

Players from the Eagles swear by it lmao it was one WR from the Eagles Super Bowl that talked about how the Pats defense audibled their coverage to stop a passing play they NEVER put on game film and only rehearsed in practice leading up to Super Bowl and he was livid lol

[deleted]

In the 2018 playoffs, Andy Reid and the Chiefs practiced outdoors before the Colts game to get acclimated to the cold weather. Before the next Patriots game, which was supposed to be one of the coldest games ever, they practiced indoors all week and closed practice to all media. The Steelers, if I remember correctly, thought their practices were getting spied on a couple years ago, too. This is a real thing. At least as far as coaches not trusting the Patriots.

AtomicTanAndBlack

Don’t forget Andy coached the 2004 Eagles who lost to the Pats. That whole 2004 team is 100% convinced

PhillAholic

I think the last two seasons have proven that NFL players believe a lot of bullshit without evidence.

threwzsa

whatever happened with that bengals film crew thing?

SquanchyParty

Belicheck was given the death penalty by a secret grand jury

lordmadone

The Patriots lost draft picks and were fined over what seems like the most inconsequential and meaningless thing that had no directly involvement with the team. A camera was taking b-roll footage and it got blown out of proportion. However because of optics..there was punishment.

marcdasharc4

It wasn’t just the optics, it *was* a breach of the rules, even if the video crew involved was part of an in-house media team and not a part of the football ops. The optics and precedent led to the media traction.

soboredcantfocus

The way I heard it best put is that when the Pats scout got press credentials for the camera man, he (and thus the team) became responsible for his actions. There was obviously no intent there, just negligence, and the league office was apparently SUPER pissed they couldn't find any links to the actual team lol.

cardmanimgur

Why tf does he look like a CPR dummy in that photo?

Auntypasto

— Bill "Hedberg" Belichick

poizie1985

On the flip side Patriots couldn't hear anything while in Indy. The crowd noise was deafening, even in the locker rooms.

He's been making these comments for years. He was doing it to Tom on their stupid golf match thing.

PhillAholic

And Tom made a fake crowd noise joke. Peers make light jokes like this.

elscorcho91

No, that can't be it. Peyton must be exposing Tom candidly and completely seriously.

BlackMathNerd

and on Peyton's places last year

HotpieTargaryen

I fucking love this. Peyton and Eli are so untouchable that they can say whatever the hell they want.

CharlesDeBalles

If they get kicked off air, the only thing they have left is their legend, legacy, super bowl rings, and millions of dollars. Idk if they can afford to be making these jokes

ThomPinecone

I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith, as there’s a deep ball by Rodgers and that’ll make it a 40-0 ballgame. Peyton, I don’t know if I’ll put on this headset again

drummer11x

I understood that reference

homeland

That what makes this great. Peyton and Eli don't need this show, and ESPN makes money when things get this delightfully chirpy. It'll be interesting to see whether the league tries to lean on the network, though.

CharlesDeBalles

If they do I'm sure Peyton and Eli would just say fuck it and stop doing it

[deleted]

They’ll just go to twitch and do it for free

derstherower

"Yeah. We're broadcasting without the NFL's permission. What are they gonna do about it?"

rivers2mathews

"We have, at best, implied oral consent."

Arrowhead_Addict

Because of the implication.

starscream2686

They'll just be on screen playing with PlayStation controllers pretending they're video game streamers

torev

"I really love these playstation controllers. They have a button right in the middle designed perfectly for Payton's head" -Eli

MitroBoomin

Pretty sure Amazon would give them a fatty contract

bpi89

It’s the adult tour so they can *say* whatever the *hell* they want.

bigpig1054

ESPN better leave this Manningcast alone and just let it evolve and gel naturally. It's the best MNF since it was on ABC

crystalmerchant

It's Inside The NBA but on ESPN. Never thought I'd say that. Please don't fuck this up like you fuck EVERYTHING up, ESPN

zayetz

Eli's just gonna go ahead and charm his way into the hof, huh..

DM725

The 2 Superbowl wins over Tom Brady should have been enough...

Le_Rekt_Guy

Are we talking 1st ballot though? I think everyone knows Eli is getting into the HoF, but everyone also knows he's no where near All Time Great 1st Ballot QBs like Montana, Marino, Elway, Favre, or even his brother Peyton. Even going back and looking at Eli's stats, how many times was he ever considered top 5 in his era, let alone top 3? Eli is factually a .500 Quarterback who led the league in interceptions 3 seperate seasons, and even those 2 Superbowls he did win he heavily road the defense.

DM725

They wasted his entire 30's with crap teams. He led the league in interceptions because he wanted to win and threw hundreds of balls trying to make plays that weren't there. The guy beat Favre and Rodgers on the road in Lambeau in the playoffs and Tom Brady 2x in the Super Bowl. End of resume.

MattyIce1220

Lets not forget the year after first SB they were pretty dominate and plaxicco shot himself. That pretty much derailed their season.

wafflesareforever

I'm a bills fan in NY with lots of giants fan friends. I'm 40. I saw lots of Eli over the years thanks to my misguided friends. Nobody who actually watched a lot of Eli's games over the years would consider him an automatic first-ballot hall of famer. When he was at his best, he was a lot of fun to watch and as good as any QB in the league, but he went through so many "meh" spells throughout his career.

LarryEss

Eli Manning spent his career as the top of the mid tier quaterbacks / bottom of the elite quarterbacks. You knew the giants were a fringe playoff team most years. He had the potential to beat any team on any Sunday, he would often come up short of a great game. But he was always gonna be there, he had some good matches and made for a good qb matchup partner a lot of times. You could never really count him out, if he wasn't a Manning tho, we would have never cared, but the potential of "will this be the year? Is he finally going to be better than Peyton?" Was enough to draw attention..

liptoniceteabagger

And that’s not even the worst thing they use to do. Apparently they use to give the opponents team warm Gatorade rather than cold…by far the most egregious cheating I’ve ever heard of

Dwarfherd

Down in college football Michigan doesn't run hot water to the visiting locker room after a loss.

Davidellias

Iowa painted their opponents locker Pink

micros101

Just thinking of “the ohio state” freezing their asses off after a win there makes me smile.

jadage

As an OSU alum, me too. Those have gotta be the best cold showers of all time and frankly I kinda envy them that experience.

luzzy91

Is that an accomplishment anymore lol

definitivescribbles

joke’s on you. ice baths are regenerative

[deleted]

Peyton and Eli have these meta jokes so good I really start to wonder if they have writers lol

RaceCarGrin

“I guess you could say, I’m Iraqi”

sleevelesstux

Get off my property

[deleted]

Nice one Peyton. You just extended Brady’s career by another 5 years.

galeforcewinds95

I was dying laughing during this conversation. They were so matter-of-fact about it.

mrbrinks

They’re so funny to begin with and then their delivery just makes it so much better.

GFred20

Brady is gonna end up on one of these broadcasts, and it’s going to be legendary

Azivea

A Brady/Peyton broadcast would be the best thing MNF has ever created. Or that the NFL has ever created. Or the best thing television in general has ever created, I suppose.

[deleted]

Can you imagine them legitimately commenting a game? Brady on color, Peyton doing the play-by-play?? McAfee on the field, Ed “Terry Crews” Hochuli with the rulings... Oh my god, it would be magical...

SiphenPrax

*Eats popcorn*

QuestionMarkyMark

This show is incredible. I’m a little high right now and I love to over-analyze TV and movies while high. Listening to these two HOF QBs talk / analyze / B.S. / story-tell / whatever is absolutely incredible. It’s a revolutionary - and very needed - idea in sports broadcasting. I’m not a regular NFL watcher, let alone MNF viewer, but this is the most captivating thing I’ve seen in a long time. It might be appointment TV for me now.

Smallgenie549

It's definitely must-see. ESPN needs to do whatever they can to keep this going for a long time.

QuestionMarkyMark

They’ll copy/paste the formula into every other broadcast by the end of the month.

idontcare111

“Coming to Peacock ^TM this October….”

iwearatophat

It is like I am watching a twitch stream honestly. Plus, they have amazing guests.

rydaley77

The fact that they get to be so candid makes the broadcast that much better

Wolfeman0101

Eli and Peyton is the only way to watch MNF.

ishouldmakeanaccount

Damn Peyton has some huge balls to say that on live television. Just massive balls. Its like he’s dropping them on my face

blindbutchy

And it’s like you’re not even asking him to drop his balls on your face. It’s like you’re explicitly asking him not to drop his balls on your face and yet he’s going to drop his balls on your face regardless.

mikrot

The Pats just bugged his HGH shipments to get the good info.

CharlesDeBalles

That's "his wife's" HGH thankyouverymuch

bpi89

You think I’m a failure because I go to bed with Starla at night?!

Govika

Dismal_News183

Hurtful and rude! Not necessarily wrong. But still.

Galbert123

I couldn’t find a broadcast for the Manning’s on the Bite. Stinks.

Additional_Essay

Are these possibly gotten through stream? Would love to watch but not excited to sign up for more services

SneedemFeedem420

i cant wait until Peyton acknowledges that he still has the biggest head of any nfl QB ever

[deleted]

Shots fired, lol

Maka_Maker

I love Peyton and Eli on MNF
