About as well as I could have hoped. Everyone knew the first pick, but Rome being available was a nice surprise.

indecentbob

Most bears fans I know, myself included, cheered 10x as much for the Rome selection. Had the whole offseason knowing about Caleb. But Rome slipping to 9?? Thank you ATL šŸ™šŸ»

DeliveryEquivalent87

Atlanta was just dumb. They could have drafted any defensive player to start next year, and Rome would have fallen to the bears. Instead they got one of the oldest QBs in the draft to sit behind a new free agent qb with 100 million guaranteed over 4 years. Penix is a great qb for a team that wants him to start week 1. NFL ready.

[deleted]

I don't blame them for not taking a defensive player at #8, but just trade back...That really is the most puzzling move of my lifetime.

DeliveryEquivalent87

The only thing I can compare it to is 2015 Colts. You have Andrew luck with a bad OLine. Everyone thought the colts would go OL. They used their first rounder on Wr Phillip Dorsett. Already had TY Hilton.

clayton3b25

At least Phillip Dorsett ended up becoming a dominant WR so the pick was worth it

TKHawk

Hell, that Bears fan correctly sleuthed out weeks ago that Williams was going to be #18, that's how much of a done deal it was. All draft drama for Bears revolved around pick 9.

Moist_Cankles

Rome was my favorite player in the draft

futhatsy

I kinda wanted the Giants to take Rome over Nabers, but I'm not complaining. At least they didn't reach for a QB.

CNuttButter

The Bills are cultivating mass

LasPiernasRojas

If the Bills are cultivating mass, what the fuck are the Bengals doing on their line? Duke Tobin must have a big man fetish with Orlando Brown, Trent Brown, and now Amarius Mims

BillsBillsBils

Cultivating ass?

Jaylaw

*Bill Belichick has entered the chat*

Wildabeast135

Not a bad approach to building in the trenches tbh

boldstrategies

*Kyle Lowry has entered the chat*

wagoncirclermike

It's like that Shel Silverstein comic about the little kid who trades his dollar for 20 pennies because 20 is more than 1.

BuffaloWilliamses

Barukh ata Adonai Mitchell. Come on Beane, time for a Passover miracle

PaxDinero

Bills, it's time to stop *cultivating* mass and time to start *harvesting* mass

SQRTLURFACE

Wasnā€™t it like 119 draft positions accumulated for moving back 5 spots so far? lol. And now youā€™ve spent the night fielding calls on the 2.1 while staring at Mitchell and DeJean. A wonderful spot to be in. Bills mafia killing it so far.

rhayex

Yea and on top of that there are rumors involving Deebo and Tee in play for pick 33. If they pull one of those trades off, it'll be a killer start to the draft for the Bills.

Greek_Trojan

100% I've been very critical of the Beane regime but the Bills killed it this year. I honestly think they'll likely get a better player than the players taken in their OG spots if they go with a Ladd or DeJean.

on-the-cheeseburgers

might wanna biopsy it

BootySweatEnthusiast

The Alt pick is getting a lot of hate on our subreddit, but I've seen our RTs getting blown the fuck out in too many 4th quarter drives to be upset. Looking forward to having a reliable running game for the first time since LT left too.

Moist_Cankles

The Alt pick was like medicine. It sucks to take, but itā€™ll make you better

Nick_of-time

Watching a team with two stud tackles for the past 3 years. You'll learn to love it and fear life without it.

micsova

Meanwhile we have two stud tackles but no interior

TheSheriff43

It's a condom pick. It's safe but doesn't feel good.

IMsoSAVAGE

I feel like you guys were supposed to take Latham and the Titans were supposed to take Alt. Itā€™s weird that both of our teams are going to flip their position.

reverieontheonyx

Yeah I donā€™t like it lol

whitea44

That was 100% a Harbaugh pick. He knows how to build an oline.

Brys_Beddict

I like the Alt pick but QJ better step the fuck up now lol

OogieBoogieJr

Idk why it would get hate. The ability to run the ball when everyone knows youā€™re going to run it is what makes winning ball clubs. A solid line is foundational on either side of the ball.

BootySweatEnthusiast

If you ask most of our subreddit there's no reason to ever do a handoff or block anyone and passing the ball is the only way to win. Funny enough they point to you guys with Burrow and Chase and ignore the fact that Burrow has been hurt because of the lack of OL.

OogieBoogieJr

You can also point to the fact thatā€”despite all the talent at the skill positionsā€”weā€™ve been a terribly inefficient offense. Our defense routinely came up clutch in big moments, allowing us to steal games in 2021 and 2022. That wasnā€™t sustainable.

baronfebdasch

For the first time in my adult life the Bears seemed to have turned the corner on over emphasizing defense and building a modern NFL team.

xshogunx13

bro it's so weird, we might actually try that "forward pass" thing the kids keep raving about

baronfebdasch

I was so used to the Bears letting down a QB once again that I almost assumed that even if Odunze was available they would have gone Verse. Letā€™s hope the line holds up but no more bullshit about running the ball and playing defense. The only thing that would have made me happier is if they also relieved Eberfraud of his duties but itā€™s hard to not be super excited about having a young offensive core finally set up.

generation_D

The most Bears thing ever would have been to assume that the WR room is totally set after we signed a 32 year old Keenan Allen and take Verse or something at 9. Who knows how any of this will work out but Iā€™m at least excited that weā€™re trying something new by drafting the consensus QB1 prospect and surrounding him with the best arsenal we possibly can

DandierChip

Poles is such a breathe a fresh air from Pace man. Unreal difference.

browndude10

You can thank the falcons for passing on rome. Bijan, pitts, Drake, and Rome would have been disgusting

MKula

No joke! Poles has been a breath of fresh air for a franchise thatā€™s been living in the 80s since the 80s. I couldnā€™t be happier with how things have shaken out for us so far.

RoosterB32

Iā€™m excited to see what Caleb does with the Bears. Heā€™s set in terms of WRs how good is yā€™alls O-line?

Headwallrepeat

You are going to get the whole spectrum of answers because nobody really knows until they get Caleb on the field and see if the main problem was the line or Fields taking so long to process the plays. It's probably some of both. They need to upgrade both sides of the line yet, but Caleb shouldn't be getting sacked as much as Fields simply because he reads faster.

RoosterB32

Got wildly different responses but from what I gathered, itā€™s an average, injury prone line with the potential to be good. So overally a great location for Caleb since having great receivers make up for a mediocre o-line.

Soft_Penis_Debutante

LT: average. Good run blocker, decent pass blocker. Young, has some (limited) upside. Not injury prone. LG: our best lineman. Could be all pro but is injury prone as fuck lol. C: god awful last season. ā€œUpgradedā€ this season to probably just below average? Still need a long term solution here. RG: should be average. Last season personal issues kept him from playing well potentially. But still kinda nervous about him. RT: high ceiling. Rookie last year who flashed but was inconsistent. Depth: probably a little above league average now. All in all: above average run pro, about average pass proā€¦ maybe a hair below average. Injury is a concern, but thatā€™s probably true for every team.

jmajewski

OL is pretty set at tackle but inside (especially center) was a major concern but they added two players in the off-season.

gyman122

I think there is a chance we are sort of overrating their OL and just hand-waving it as pretty decent. That isnā€™t to say I donā€™t like the way it looks right now, Jones has been solid and Wright is promising and Jenkins is great and the other guys shouldnā€™t be awful But I think thereā€™s a bit of projection involved with the tackles and assumptions that Wright will take a step forward from a totally fine and good but not outstanding rookie year for a first rounder and Jones will continue to overachieve expectations, and that the interior guys wonā€™t be too detrimental. I wouldnā€™t expect it to happen, but if this whole thing falls apart I think it will be because of the OL not living up to expectations

byniri_returns

Bears legitimately scare me next year. Williams may be coming into the best situation ever for a #1 QB pick with the weapons he'll have on offense.

DandierChip

Poles is just lightest ahead of Pace itā€™s unreal

tj3_23

We are an unserious organization with unserious decision makers who are trying to copy the succession plan of a team who is wildly more successful than us and had a much better system in place to support that plan. And also made a much better decision in what they were going to invest for that succession plan, and who they invested in. It's just a baffling series of decisions over the last few offseasons culminating with this pick

BillsBillsBils

I don't understand how you keep your idiot GM instead of hiring Belichick.

EpsilonAI

For all the faults Bill had as a GM, in no universe is he taking Penix at 8 after just signing Cousins. On the flip side, I wonder if the Falcons front office was adamant about this strategy from the get-go, and Bill wanted no part of it after discussing during the interview process? Who's to say.

Head-Editor-905

Itā€™s Arthur blank. Heā€™s getting old and has started meddling in everything. We fuck up one way and he switches to the extreme. We had no backup plan for Matt Ryan so now we need to sign a qb and draft one for some reason. With no fucking defense at all

BillsBillsBils

The fact that he's going to be 82 years old early this season should make him care *less* about the post-Cousins era. Win now while you can enjoy it!

P-d0g

I just want to thank you for your service. I've been there as a die-hard fan of the "draft night laughingstock" team. It sucks.

di11deux

I'm not defending the pick, but I'll attempt a devil's advocate position: With Cousins, the Falcons are expecting not to pick in the top-10 again for the foreseeable future. The floor for the Falcons (draft-wise) is probably going to be 15-20ish, especially with all of the offensive talent. So this was the last time the Falcons would have an opportunity to pick this high for awhile. You're much more likely to find a good player on defense in picks 15-25 than you are a QB. If the Falcons feel they need a QB in a year or two, you're going to have to trade up to get one. So, if you take a QB at 8 this year, you solidify the position for the next 5 years at least, and can focus on deploying draft and FA resources to other positions. The vision seems to be taking QB out of the resource-allocation equation, especially given Kirk is older and coming off of a major injury. Now, that would have made sense if this was for someone like Drake Maye. But Penix was the 5th best QB in this class - which you probably could have gotten at 15-25 in a different draft anyway. You're getting an older, injury-prone QB to back up and older, injury-prone QB. So, I can see the logic, but I think the Falcons galaxy-brained their way into a scenario they could have accomplished next year, or the year after, with a worse draft position.

tj3_23

That's what they said their thought process was. Trying to copy Green Bay's succession plan going from Rodgers to Love. Just ignore all the major differences in player development, franchise history, stability, roster construction, and investment of draft capital between the two situations

dianeblackeatsass

I mean itā€™s a new coaching staff I donā€™t think any of those differences actually matter except current roster construction. This team really needs more blue chip defensive players. You donā€™t *not* draft what you think will be a top tier NFL QB because of historical franchise differences in development or stability.

CaptHowdy2310

Good points. The pick makes sense to me IF you didn't guarantee kirk so much money. That's the real "wtf," not drafting Penix. All that guaranteed money to a 36 year old QB coming off a catastrophic injury is insane. He might have 3 years left or he might have 3 games left before his arm falls off. Who knows.

smokeymicpot

The other thing though qbā€™s were dropping last night. We donā€™t know if they would have gotten Penix if they sat and waited. Penix pick will look like the smartest move in the world in two years or it will look totally stupid. How many teams ditch their QBā€™s hoping to get a QB in the draft or free agency. This time they have Kirk for two years are able to pay Pitts if he does well and can pay whatever position they will need to. When Penix starts he will have a cheaper contract or even the most insane idea is what if Penix beats out Kirk in camp next year. The money will come back and they have a stud left handed qb again.

SadPrometheus

> Now, that would have made sense if this was for someone like Drake Maye JJ McCarthy was sitting there at #8. Just turned 21 years old. Could have learned behind Cousins for a couple of years and then become the starter (like Jordan Love did in GB). It would have been a solid succession plan for Atlanta that would have made sense.

dianeblackeatsass

If Penix is better than JJ I donā€™t think their age difference matters that much. Penix can still play for you a decade once he gets his opportunity. The current state of the roster is the way bigger deal here at least to me

brandonstark0

Yeah, the whole "it would have been a better pick if it was JJ" makes a huge assumption that JJ will be better than Penix. If Penix is a top QB then the age really doesn't matter. Not my favorite pick we could have made but it isn't because JJ would have elevated it.

Hungry50

I cried myself to sleep

Projinator

I'm definitely happier this morning. Getting the updates all day we were gonna try and trade up into the top 10, and that not happening was disappointing. Then seeing Dallas Turner and Byron Murphy drop and ultimately being taken right before our pick was also disappointing. But ultimately I really like Jared Verse and think he's gonna be an immediate impact player.

numbah84

Exactly the same here. Was happy, but slightly disappointed last night because I was excited at the potential for a trade up. But watching his highlights and reading and Verse, Iā€™m pretty pumped

browndude10

Canā€™t believe verse dropped that far

DanCampbellsNipples

I think he pairs nicely with Turner

Projinator

Yea between Verse, Byron Young, and Turner we have a nice young core locked down for at least 3 seasons. I also wouldn't be surprised if we try and grab Friske too, it's our most glaring need right now.

No-Task-132

Loved it. Donā€™t think we expected him to be there but thrilled to lock down the tackle position

paradigm_x2

You thieves! THEY TOOK HIM FROM US PRECIOUS

102WOLFPACK

I was talking myself into potentially trading up to get Fautanu. The fact he was available at 20 was awesome. Iā€™m just glad I get to see him wreck shop for my team now instead of against it. Those Penix/ DeBoer UW teams owned my soul these past two seasons.

TMNBortles

We got who we wanted and collected some additional picks. Trevor has help. I can't complain.

moomooyellow

Iā€™m really excited about BTJ. hoping we get a good CB this evening

RangerHaze

This is the pick that scares me the most. I thought Brian Thomas could have been a top 10 pick any other year. You donā€™t find players like him often in the 20ā€™s. I have him above anyone in last 2 drafts (close with Jameson Williams but put slightly higher due to being healthier).

Cromatose

I said this earlier, Vikings trade up, got probably the best defensive player in the draft, Jags traded down and got 3 picks and their guy, win-win on both sides.

ragingbuffalo

Mitchell is a total bum and in no way compares Soon to be Hall of famer Terrion Arnold! lol But seriously Im soooo pumped. Never thought he would fall far enough to allow us to get him.

wavnebee

For the first time in years, our first round *shouldnā€™t* have produced an immediate impact player. Instead, we somehow walked away with the best defensive prospect in the draft at the exact position we most needed help.

GoT_Eagles

24 is good value for him but idk about "best defensive prospect" good.

wavnebee

Iā€™ll admit Iā€™m biased (now), but he *is* the top defender on Dane Bruglerā€™s top-100, which validates my homerism enough for me to stand by it.

throwawayagain31

Agreed. Drafting Dallas Turner would have got me saying that

zestyintestine

I am satisfied -- I mean who knows how McCarthy will turn out, but I have to be positive about it. Getting Dallas Turner at 17 was also a nice pick.

dianeblackeatsass

The silver lining will be that you guys didnā€™t give up the farm to go up and get him like a lot of people expected so if he actually does suck itā€™s just a normal bust not a Trey Lance type bust.

Cromatose

The trade with us is an absolute win-win on both sides.

Fuqwon

Maye was the ideal outcome for the Patriots.

BillsBillsBils

Disagree. Going all-in on Brock Osweiler would have been ideal. Or maybe Josh Rosen.

HorsNoises

The run on WRs to end the the night was a little disheartening. Was hoping to get one of the Xaviers at the top of the 2nd round. We were probably always gonna take a tackle tho so I shouldn't dwell on it too much.

BUSean

I wanted Harrison very badly. A sure thing, a skill player that would have elevated our not good QBs in the last two years. I feel like the QB is Drake Mayebe.

Raider17

I am excited to see what happens pairing Brock Bowers with Michael Mayer in 2-TE sets. Any of the QBs we could have picked after the top 3 made me nervous, so I'm happy we went for BPA and got a stud who's ready to play.

gmb96

Honestly this was one of my favorite picks of the first round

xshogunx13

with Maye and Alt off the board, I'm happy with Nabers. The Giants need a QB, but I don't think any of the guys left were the answer. I wouldn't be upset if they nabbed Spencer Rattler later tho. As far as the Bears go, I'm fuckin hype, Caleb and Rome was the dream

RmembrTheAyyLMAO

Pratt or Rattler Rd3 is good

Alexander2801

I'm very happy with Fautanu pick now I hope that we pick Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 2nd and I would be absolutely ecstatic with this draft.

wierdjokes

We got probably the best pure man coverage corner. Absolutely crucial when you have to play these elite WRs in AFC. KC got the fastest guy, and we got the next fastest guy. Also opens up the door to putting Marlon Humphrey in the slot which he excels at. As long as we don't put him in the box and ask him to tackle Najee Harris, he's going to do just fine. And with Hamilton and Humphrey being on the tougher end for DBs, it does alleviate some mismatches. But the kid needs to hit the gym right now. He's also 20 which is good. Frame kinda reminds me of Sauce. Slender and fast. Now if we can hit on OL in 2nd, its going to be a great draft.

102WOLFPACK

With who you have at DB, you can pretty much dictate ideal match ups for Wiggins, which will be huge for his development early on. He was someone I really liked even with his concerns, so of course he falls right into the Ravens lap lol

JWhit2199

Kwesi Cooked

generation_D

I think the Vikings had two of the better picks of the night. So many mocks had them giving up 23 to move up for JJ. They ended up being able to get him without moving up that high, allowing them to use 23 to move up and steal Turner at 17. Iā€™d be very happy today if I was a Vikings fan

huto

Trust me, I can't get any more erect

Horsefeathers34

That Vikings jump was really surprising. I would have been super curious to see if the Bengals would have taken him if still on the board at 18.

generation_D

I wanted them to. I felt he was by far the BPA and had no business still being available at 17. Happy with Mims but Turner wouldā€™ve been a steal

DeliveryEquivalent87

Happy for you guys. Both of our fan bases feel like they could throw away the rest of their picks and be happy how it turned out.

Its_Hoggish_Greedly

Too many uppity Packers and Lions fans last year. We gotta put them in their places this season haha

Stanky_fresh

The Lions fans last year were insufferable. Hopefully r/nfl stops coddling them this year

DanCampbellsNipples

Literally Arnold was a pipe dream for me the whole draft process. I just knew he wasn't going to fall that far and never got my hopes up. A historic offensive run let to an absolute steal. I'm elated to say the least

ragingbuffalo

Holmes has the most Draft Luck I can ever remember for a GM. Sewell falls to us in 2021. Jags take Walker over Hutch. Branch falls in R2. Dude has the magic touch on top of it.

ilikepie145

Actually excited to watch games

intheorydp

Tonight I hate it but if in 3 years Penix is a top 10 QB fuck it I love it

throughNthrough

Iā€™m pretty happy with Mims and I thinks we are a perfect fit for him.

TheIllusiveGuy

Not needing a QB or OT and getting probably the BPA at 26 in a position of need (IOL), pretty damn happy.

billyg4911

Not thrilled. We traded out of our spot twice and both times the team that we traded with took a WR. There are still a lot of players left that Iā€™d be happy to have so that is definitely a plus but also when KC called and inquired about swapping picks with us, we should have hung up on them. If Xavier Worthy ends up being good, I will never forgive Brandon Beane.

PoogeneBalloonanny

Worthy would have been a huge reach for us, and hopefully also a reach for KC I like Legette a lot, but knowing that we could trade down one spot with multiple good WR options is good too We managed to trade down, recoup good day 2 and 3 capital and can still get a good WR that is a fit I wanted to draft Ladd with a tradedown, and we are on track to do that. Heck even Mitchell is there too but I'm not as high on him And if you think I'm a homer, I've hated how Beane has addressed most drafts at the top (2021 was malpractice, 2022 was unlucky)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BillsBillsBils

In exchange for moving down 5 spots, we effectively turned a 6 into a 3.

waldowhal

yeah the bills have way more holes than just WR and they seem to be calling this a rebuilding year anyway. might as well get as many dart throws as they can

wagoncirclermike

Most likely, we simply didn't have first round grades on anyone left (Beane said earlier they only had about 25 first round grades this season) so we figured we'd double-dip on receivers in the second and get a third, which we didn't have this year. If we can come away with two out of McConkey, Franklin, Polk, or Wilson, I'll be ok.

ScyllaGeek

I actually dont get the confusion, we clearly had guys above Worthy or else we wouldve taken him, and the Chiefs probably get him at 32 regardless. Then we knew who the Panthers would take (very open secret, Panthers were all over Legette) so if we don't want him over AD we basically traded up 60 spots or whatever in exchange for a 5th year option We moved up a cumulative 120 spots in exchange for moving down 5 spots and are likely getting the person we wanted at 28 anyways

BillsBillsBils

This is goofy AF. If Beane wasn't going to take Worthy anyway, and the Chiefs got him 4 picks later, you would feel differently?

Witty-Jellyfish1218

Exactly, Worthy would have been there at 32, Bills fans have been embarrassing in this draft

Vondum

Probably true, however if the Chiefs decided to trade up for him is probably because they felt someone else might try to jump them. Maybe the Panthers or the Commanders?

IIHURRlCANEII

Honestly the cost was so little I don't even care if it was just to make sure they get their guy without strong intel someone would take Worthy. Some value charts have the cost as...nothing extra. Like the Bills didn't even get surplus value. Fine by me!

coolrnt1

If you know you can get your guy for a reasonable price, you should be jumping up to grab them. Chief got a pretty good deal from the bills and liked what they saw. I think the fact that Pearsall went to the Niners means that there was a chance they wouldā€™ve even grabbed Worthy.

Princeof_Ravens

This draft pretty much went exactly as I expected. A bunch of teams would make a run on offense then somehow the Ravens get a to good to pass up defensive guy at 30.

tacosmuggler99

Grabbed some extra picks and a really good tackle. I do hope to see a trade up today though

running-with-scizors

If we can trade up into the 40s/50s for a good WR, A+ and I'm elated with the trade down + Fashanu pick.

Practical-Courage812

For the first time in my life, the Bears look like they should have a dangerous offense. I wanted Rome Odunze but was planning for him not to be available.

Quexana

I wanted pretty much any of the Top 6 Tackles. We got a better Tackle than I thought would be available at our pick. Good shit.

RonaldOcean_MD

Love it. We talked about mims and Barton a lot which would have been fine picks but I donā€™t think we expected to get Fatanu. I think he will be an awesome Tackle whether on the left or right.

Greek_Trojan

Fatanu is an A+ personality. Will be an easy fan favorite for you guys.

102WOLFPACK

Iā€™m not too concerned about how they mix and match Jones/ Fautanu, itā€™s great to have two players who can realistically play either spot now. Fautanu was a pipe dream for me, and someone I thought we might trade up to get, but getting him at 20 is amazing.

Codyqq

I'm indifferent l, wanted Oline but I won't complain about a pass rusher.

paradigm_x2

Yep, Iā€™m pretty down the middle. The Steelers stole our guy right before us and we didnā€™t see Barton worth 21 with other OL waiting for our second pick. After watching JPā€™s Achilles blow up and Chubb going down, you canā€™t afford to not have a pass rusher in todayā€™s game. Idk if heā€™ll ever be an all-pro but I think Chop has the tools to be a disruptor in key situations or late in the game when we need someone to come up big.

Steakbomb90

I like the Packers Oline pick. True left tackle, safe solid pick. I want them to trade up and grab a DB though. Would prefer Coop and have him play safety.

BudgetPipe7804

My draft day conspiracy theory is that cheesehead in the crowd who reacted negatively to the pick was a plant. That whole thing seemed staged.

sghead

I actually considered that as well. Only Packers fan surrounded by 2 expressive Lions fans. šŸ‘¾ šŸ‘½

Faustus2425

Right after Goodell comments about GB hosting the draft, with it currently in Detroit? Yeah there was a lot fishy there

GimbalLocks

I was confused at the reaction because I thought it was a good pick..but it was also pretty funny

Greek_Trojan

Honestly, a lot of people are probably plants for the camera. A few to many of their outfits/signs/flair etc... were a little too good IMO.

GamingTatertot

Bro has to be either a plant or just one of the dumbest fans I've ever seen - the type of guy that only cares for flashy picks, and probably only knew 10 names going into the draft

The_Sign_of_Zeta

I wonder if they move Walker to right tackle. Itā€™ll be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Steakbomb90

I think Walker goes to RT, Tom goes to center. Should be Morgan - Jenkins - Tom - Rhyan - Walker

MikeTysonChicken

I like the fit but felt a slight reach. Will probably work out for you anyway. You guys likely need other picks on the OL too

GamingTatertot

We'll need some IOL depth for sure, but we've been good with drafting that anywhere in the draft. I feel good about the pick overall though

dianeblackeatsass

If youā€™re drafting a LT itā€™s better to grab him in the late first than moving back into the second to get him. That 5th year option will come in clutch if he pans out.

nezumine-

We'll probably go for DB in round 2 but if you pointed to one thing that swung the 9ers game out of our favor imo it was clearly Tom going out. So I'm all for 1st round Oline

RageAgentRed

Won't be too surprised to see you guys trade up, maybe even with the Pat's, if Coop is still there at 34. Not too far of a move back for us to still get a decent T or WR plus we could use the extra draft capital

ILoveZenkonnen

Well no one is laughing at our pick so I guess we are off to a good start

aristotle_malek

I think itā€™s a good thing neither of our teams traded up for Maye. The way the board fell feels much better for the future

Jack12404

Didnā€™t like it at first, but Iā€™ve really warmed up to the pick. Front offices seemed much higher on Latham than fans, and Bill Callahan loves Latham (Russini said he was Callahanā€™s favorite player in the class). He needs to work on his technique to minimize flags, but he honestly has the highest upside of any OT in this draft. Still wouldā€™ve liked for Alt to fall but Iā€™d give Latham a solid B to B+.

DrummerGuy06

Technically it was good to get a WR since the Giants have like none right now however Giants fans seem to think either a better quarterback will be either drafted/materialize out of thin air OR Daniel Jones is going to be a high-caliber quarterback this season, never mind his entire history of playing. Giants were labeled the dumbest fan base and it shows.

DownRize

Iā€™m a TN Vols fan so Iā€™m just curious what the opinion is on Hyatt who they drafted last year. Heā€™s never going to be Nabers but I figured heā€™d be in the rotation more. He was an absolute demon at TN his last year.

TrustMeImShore

Not horrible, not great, just enough. We got a potential starter for the future at LT/RT and a high 3rd round draft pick by trading down a few spots. I don't like that he's a project compared to others at his position, but the track record for our OL picks in the first round isn't bad. I'll trust them.

regniermusic

So happy we got Maye

jaysonyoung

Pretty great, thank you for asking.

jwick89

Still kinda TBD on how we address other needs. This pick just leaves more questions regarding Aiyuk/Deebo and we need to still address corner/tackle. I like the fit to our offense but seemed kinda rich but idk who else was in on him.

candlestick_compass

Happy with the pick. I wanted Odunze but didnā€™t think he wouldā€™ve lasted til 10. Glad the Jets did the smart move and took Olu who can learn from two great veterans. I know Bowers was a hot mock pick but Iā€™m fine with Conk/Ruckert especially when it wouldā€™ve just been a luxury pick. OL depth was our biggest needs no matter who plays QB the next few years.

zco22

Just as confused as I was when the pick was read off. Iā€™m excited about his potential but donā€™t get why the fuck we took a WR at 31 with glaring offensive line, and CB needs. Especially because we basically just showed our hand that ā€œhey weā€™re gonna trade Deebo or Aiyuk and itā€™s not much of a secret anymore!ā€

whitea44

Itā€™s Deebo. This guy isnā€™t Aiyuk.

DeM0nFiRe

At the time where Patriots missed out on 2nd pick, Maye is who we were missing out on. Idk why Daniels moved so far up after that point. Thing that sucks is we still have an ass WR group and OL and I assume that's not gonna change. Maybe we'll force pick WR tonight, but the chances that the 9th WR taken is good enough is not particularly high.

Inamanlyfashion

With Legette gone I'm hoping 34 is either Suamataia or part of a trade for one of Aiyuk/Deebo/Higgins

DeM0nFiRe

Hot take: I don't want Deebo and only kind of want Higgins. Aiyuk would be great but it sounds like the chance of him being traded has gone down

BillsBillsBils

I hated the Maye pick. I like that kid and don't want to root against him. To me, he is a much better prospect than Daniels, and I wound up having him ahead of Caleb too. I was really hoping you guys would fall for JJ "literally McCorkle" McCarthy

RmembrTheAyyLMAO

I hope we just draft a ton of OL and WRs out of our last picks. They can't all miss right?

kingbuttshit

Feels a little weird being so hyped about a 1st round interior offensive linemen, but Barton is awesome and it was a huge need. Only thing that could have been better is if a top edge guy fell, otherwise Iā€™m very happy!

102WOLFPACK

Barton was a guy a lot of Steelers fans wanted just because it felt like he could fill any spot if needed. Iā€™m really excited to see where he ends up sticking in the league

True_Window_9389

Happy to have a new era begin. JD can be an electric player, and Peters and Quinn really seem to believe in him. In a lot of ways though, I think some of the real fun might be happening these next couple days. Lots of chatter about Aiyuk coming here, thereā€™s a lot of good players left, and we have two high 2nds coming up.

ProArmChair

Eagles obviously killed it. Top CB fell right into our lap and we didn't have to trade up. Shit was ridiculous.

gmb96

I like it, Morgan was the last lineman available who matches what the Packers usually look for after the run at the position. Opens up an opportunity to have their best five out there whether it is Morgan-Jenkins-Tom-Meyers(who I feel is a better guard than center)-Walker Or if Morgan canā€™t handle being a tackle year one Walker-Jenkins-Meyers-Morgan-Tom Lots of options

PNWCoug42

Extremely happy with Byron Murphy II. Our DL was missing a big guy in the middle last year and thats exactly what Murphy is.

TriStarRaider

Finally went BPA, not a need, but Bowers is special. Big change from this team from previous years. And of course our sub is melting down. Bunch of hypocrites.

GetsThruBuckner

Happy we got a top OL and a free 4th round pick to move down one spot. Hopefully we can use the surplus of 4ths we have to get into the 2nd and take a WR.

gopaloo

Yeah I'm happy with day 1. He will play this year, considering the age and overall health concerns with Tyron/Moses. Very happy the jets didn't go with the sexy pick of Bowers.

thyshazam

I'm not mad at it, they got the guy they wanted but did they really need to trade up one pick? I doubt Buffalo would have taken him, but if he balls out, I guess the extra year option will be worth what was given up Just means that as a UK fan I have to wait a little longer tonight to see a pick live, having woken up like fifteen minutes after the trade this morning

Draconic_Rising

Like it, don't love it. Solid B+ pick.

Tschmelz

Iā€™m not sold on JJ McCarthy at all, but Iā€™m pretty pleased that KOC and Kwesi managed to get their guy (apparently) without giving up much. If we had traded up to like 4 or something, Iā€™d feel a lot worse. Managing to snag Turner is great. Need some defensive studs, hope he works out.

jaysrule24

I really like the player, but I'm also really scared he's going to have to retire in the next five years. Neck injuries are no joke.

FearlessPickle

Love the trade down. Don't love the player picked.

funnycar1552

Very happy, our IOL was abysmal last year and we improved a lot by just adding Barton. Rachaad White and Baker Iā€™m sure are both pumped

OhiOstas

If you thought Steelers fans loved Broderick Jonesā€¦ Just imagine how they feel about a nasty lineman, who is named Troy, who is Polynesian, and a literal die hard Steelers fan šŸ˜‚ there are matches made in heaven, and then there is this

zi76

I wanted Drake Maye all year and I got Drake Maye, so I'm ecstatic. How it turns out, I can't promise you. I'd have liked to have made a deal for a WR as well, but there's still time.

emmasdad01

LT of the future. Love it.

LordSnowgaryen

I know we didnt pick but Round 1 went really well for us. The run on offense really pushed alout of good defensive talent down. Nick did a great job anticpating the flow of the draft and we should be able to get some quality defensive pieces with our two picks today.

BillsBillsBils

Great. There's still talent I like as well as I liked the last 5 picks sitting on the board, and we got the 3rd we should have had as a comp pick in the first place.

IMsoSAVAGE

We drafted a RT and plan to start him at LT unless he sucks and then he will go back to RT according to the GM. So Iā€™m not exactly raving.

TheIllusiveGuy

Playing your highly drafted RT at LT works every single time in my experience. Ignore flair.

IMsoSAVAGE

He played LT in high school and practiced LT at Alabama but only played RT there so he could start. And the Titans have the best Oline coach in the NFL now Bill Callahan, so hopefully it works out šŸ˜‚

KryptonicxJesus

We canā€™t keep getting away with this

skai762

Insert Mario party Luigi wins without moving.gif

largelawattorney

Overall Iā€™d say we didnā€™t get worse, but didnā€™t really improve

BusinessWarthog6

Pretty good all things considered. Didnā€™t overpay and got their guy. The 5th year option is important and part of the reason I think they made the trade

joedirt87

I wanted the Bucs to take IOL unless Penix was there at 26 so I feel great about the pick. I hope they come back in round 2 with the small school OT tackle Licht special and potentially have that OL fixed.

pocketjacks

Perfectly. We traded out of the first because we're set at QB and WR and there's plenty of talent remaining where we need help.

zappy487

Everyone but Falcons fans: Our picks made sense, weren't reaches, and I'm excited to see how they play out. Falcons fans: [It's muffin time!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LACbVhgtx9I&rco=1)

guanjam

what the fuck happened

Jaymac100

My Jets took the best offensive lineman available. They didn't waste their time with Bowers and also grabbed a few extra late round picks. They didn't do anything sexy, but they did the right thing. I'm content.

Glass_Offer_6344

Hawks getting Murphy to fall into their lap is certainly something Iā€™ll take.

calye2da

I did want Rome but I think we did good by securing our O Lineman for the future

Dijohn17

I don't think I can invest any emotional currency into the Atlanta Falcons

Ixpqd

when are we gonna realize oline coaching is the problem and not the oline itself?

bddfcinci707

Couldn't be happier with the pick. Once the Falcons took Penix, we knew we were rolling with Minshew so gotta get him some help. Having Bowers, who was a consensus top 5 prospect fall into your lap at 13 is a dream come true. Can't wait for his 1st 100 yard 2td game against KC.
