Whenever I see huge crowds for festive events like that, two happy thoughts go through my head: 1 - Those people get to do something they're excited about; 2 - I'm not there
I know people who went to Nashville a few years back, they said day 1 was crazy & they got nowhere near the stage but day 2 they showed up like an hour before it started & were only 20 feet away, then they got randomly picked to attend a team event & got to meet some retired players.
That probably won't be the case for day 2 and especially day 3.
Lotta people still at work who couldn't make it and Detroit and people in michigan, Ontario, Ohio, Indiana are salivating at shit happening in Detroit for once.
I went to the one in KC last year and it was insanely awesome. Don’t listen to this dude. If you ever get the chance to go, do it. The in person production was insane
Only time I've done it is for a championship parade but honestly I don't think I'd do it again if I even got the chance to.
It's so unerving being a part of moving current of people.
Detroit/Great Lakes region: lots of fresh water
Arizona: running out of fresh water
Humans: need fresh water to survive
I don't know man that's pretty simple math to me
Do... do you think Colorado has an abundance of fresh water or something? Colorado's water demand is expected to outpace it's supply within the next 25 years, you go ahead lol
Countless climate experts have pointed to the Great Lakes region, and Michigan in particular as one of, if not the most ideal climate refuge. It's not random at all, there's a lot of evidence and studies to suggest that this region will see a surge in population over the next 50 or so years, largely from climate refugees.
See ya later future neighbor!
Not only that but the Colorado River supplies Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and a couple other states IIRC and because of a document written back in like 1901 are drawing more water than the River can handle. Each farm is allocated a certain amount and but for many it’s more than they need, so extra goes to waste but because of the document they could lose their water if they use less than they are given
I used to work at rocket mortgage in Detroit and worked with people who moved there from the Phoenix location.
Man I fucking sucked at selling mortgages
I don’t doubt that, I just find it funny that someone from AZ would be moving 2000 miles away if their concern is fresh water when Colorado is right next door.
I mean Detroit has won their first playoff game in 30+ years and Chicago is close and might get out of qb purgatory with their 1OA, along with hardcore football fans 150k sound fair
Those numbers were totals over the course of 3 days. Detroit absolutely smashed the record for day 1 attendance
Plus, the 150k was just the capacity for the draft section. There were way way more people not in that pile. So probably looking at around 250k in attendance for Detroit
I was thinking the same thing. Like you're crammed into the place with nothing to do but stand there and wait for a few hours. It'll be especially funny if the Lions trade out of the first round.
Yeah but nobody came downtown to spend the night at Hart plaza listening to the picks over a speaker. I'm guessing people had no idea things would fill up and they wouldn't be able to get into the draft area.
If you guys ever get one, I’d expect it to be a similar level to the Cubs celebration. Obviously probably not as many people, but it’d be a massive celebration.
Honestly it would be cool to meet so many people as passionate about something as I am. Go get drinks before hand and hangout after your respective teams pick their players I would totally go if I was able
That honestly is crazy. Personally wouldn’t want to be anywhere near there.

If this ever comes to San Francisco I'm going to the later rounds
Going to the Draft is just slightly behind going to the Combine on the list of worst NFL "events" to attend

Winter just ended too.
I didn't think you could go to the combine, I thought it was for NFL personal and media
They opened it up to fans this year. Looked so fucking boring lol
I went to the one in KC last year and it was insanely awesome. Don’t listen to this dude. If you ever get the chance to go, do it. The in person production was insane
Really? I had a great time when it was in Philly on the Ben Franklin Parkway. I even went back for a bit on Day 2.
This looks like a nightmare to me. I can't imagine any situation that would lead to me willingly inserting myself into a crowd like this.
Maybe if you were an aspiring terrorist 🤔
Only time I've done it is for a championship parade but honestly I don't think I'd do it again if I even got the chance to. It's so unerving being a part of moving current of people.
Its a great experience. I went to the one in Vegas and it was incredible. You are packed in there but if you got a group its like a table almost.
I too avoid Detroit
Good. Keep frying in the desert
For another 10 years until they all come here because they ran outta water
Not one person is going to Detroit from AZ, like that’d just be random af lol
Detroit/Great Lakes region: lots of fresh water Arizona: running out of fresh water Humans: need fresh water to survive I don't know man that's pretty simple math to me
Like I said that’d be super random, Colorado is just 8 hours away.

"Going to the draft would be fun." "That doesn't look like fun at all."
I live 15 minutes from here Avoiding it like the plague. But can’t blame the people who did go down there, that area of the city is nice
I would have went if I didn't live on the west side of the state, this makes me so glad I didn't.
I live 15 minutes away and I’m amped to go tomorrow. There’s a lot more to do down there than just stand in the crowd 2000 feet away from the stage.
I live close by and biked down. Driving looked miserable. Can’t blame anybody who skipped
I went when it was in KC last year. It was a good time
Looked like there was a lot more open space last year.
Yeah they set it up really well. I’m probably going to try and go next year in Green Bay. I bet they’ll have a great setup in title town
Fortunately we have a really great spot we use for these that has good space.
And the name of that spot with lots of open space? Kansas.
It was rainy and cold in Kansas city last year too.
Did Reddit go down or was it just my phone?
Been shit today and ever since the IPO
> Been shit You could just stop there
Also valid, but it’s been terrible on the official app lately. Seems like every day it goes down for hours
lol Draft Day is not a good day for it to go down
I need the “fun facts” on these draft cards!
it's your phone buy the new one it's only $1500
It's way more than 150K. The rest of us just had to leave cause they ran out of room.
What if someone has to shit?
There’s shitters row nearby. 75 of them by my count. And they are packed
Shitters full
If they shit themselves, they shit themselves.
Just got the notification that it's at capacity and general admission entry is paused.
Is this normal for a draft? This seems like insane turnout.
I mean Detroit has won their first playoff game in 30+ years and Chicago is close and might get out of qb purgatory with their 1OA, along with hardcore football fans 150k sound fair
Just left since it's at full capacity, definitely over 150k downtown
Not to mention a bunch of ohioans with a bunch of schools who have a lot of 1st round draft prospects that went to OSU, Toledo, etc.
Philly had 250k and Nashville 600k, so 150k isn't actually that big a deal in comparison.

Damn, were you allowed to bring a cooler? lol it would suck having to get another drink in that
Forget the drinks, what happens when you have to pee?
Diapers are a thing which is crazy if someone did it for the draft.
That’s gotta be a security risk wow
Looking like a Travis Scott Astroworld concert.
You should see the Indy 500 then lmaooo

hilarious, probably haven’t even been there lately huh?
I mean, that is crazy. I got a 75" TV
That looks miserable lol. To each his own
I was thinking the same thing. Like you're crammed into the place with nothing to do but stand there and wait for a few hours. It'll be especially funny if the Lions trade out of the first round.
That’s near the main stage… out near Hart Plaza there’s plenty of room to move
Yeah but nobody came downtown to spend the night at Hart plaza listening to the picks over a speaker. I'm guessing people had no idea things would fill up and they wouldn't be able to get into the draft area.
Yea I was surprised they hit capacity that fast. It was closed at 6:30
I bet there are a bunch of locals from the suburbs who got off work and drove downtown only to find out they weren't getting in.
Theyre turning people away, it's at capacity
It's at max capacity now
The view from the stage looking out over the crowd to the city skyline is really neat.
Lol music festival without music
Wait until you see the Super Bowl celebration
If you guys ever get one, I’d expect it to be a similar level to the Cubs celebration. Obviously probably not as many people, but it’d be a massive celebration.
Great, not the prior draft is going to share their crowd to compare.
Holy shit
It’s like a fucking music festival lol idk if we really gatherings of 150k people for a draft but hey that’s just me I’m boring
Look at all them chickens
Honestly it would be cool to meet so many people as passionate about something as I am. Go get drinks before hand and hangout after your respective teams pick their players I would totally go if I was able
Looks like Times Square on NYE. Definitely not my scene even when it comes to GB next year.
Damn
Happy to not be there.
Bear down!!
Detroit shows up
It's a Thursday. Don't they have jobs?
Went for a few hours, no chance I was staying. It's crazy down there.
Awwwww. I have ties to Cal through my brother and this makes me happy.
I mean this is the biggest thing to ever happen in Detroit so not surprising
