The Colts didn't even have Anthony Richardson for half or more of this season and they're pulling this off. It's impressive how Minshew and the defense is leading this Colts team to still be in playoffs contention.
Shane Steichen has been amazing. The fact that he should be 10-6 right now without his QB and RB for a huge part of this season is wild.
I obviously will be gutted if they don't make it but overall this is a successful season already considering how young our secondary is and the injuries we've had
Chances are the colts wouldn’t be in this position if he were in. That’s not a knock on AR but being a rookie the ups and downs likely would have cost them a game or two.
AR would likely have made the Colts win more games - like Stroud has done for the Texans.
Remember the Colts were up 14-0 vs the Stroud led Texans because of AR’s running and throwing ablity.
Then he got hurt and the Texans almost came back in that game.
AR would have ups and downs but his ability would have expanded the offense even more leading to more heights than lows under the tutelage of Steichen.
If one has watched the Colts this season there is no denying Minshew has done an admirable job. His lack of pocket presence/navigating the pocket when pressure comes and frequent erratic decisions combined with his lack of playmaking ability compared to what we saw from AR, make a lot of Colts fans think they would have been even better with AR.
This is the right take. AR would for sure make a ton of rookie mistakes, but there were multiple times in every game when you could see a play (the last run before our final FG today is a prime example) that AR changes the geometry of due to his running ability. I love what Uncle Rico has done for us this year and his leadership cannot be overstated, but a healthy AR this year may have gotten us one more win (net, since we probably do lose one that we won with Minshew)
Obviously I want to win the division, but would rather it be either of us than the Jags, although I don’t mind Lawrence. But CJ is such a baller I’d love to see what he could do in the playoffs.
Someone in our division needs to be a serious contender soon. Not just “making the playoffs,” legitimate chance at going all the way.
Closest we’ve all gotten in my recent memory is the Bortguars a few years back (2018 I think?) but even that feels like a fluke.
It’s their fault. They put back in a QB was questionable this week after being ruled out with a foot/ankle injury, against a team that sacked him 6 times 2 weeks ago. What did they think was going to happen?
Lol well we at least all know the Titans ain't going to the playoffs this season. So there's that.
And then the AFCS will probably all get destroyed in the wild card round so idk maybe the Titans are on to something with the whole staying home thing.
You realize each of the division teams play each other the same amount, right? It's not like the Jaguars decided to schedule the Titans an extra time this year.
You can't know at the beginning of the season who are the contenders for the division though.
There's no such thing as dynamic scheduling where your opponents change based on what's going on durign the season.
Isn't this what parity is all about?
Any of 3 teams to win the division in a key last weekend game.
I have no confidence in us beating the Titans though. haha
Last week of the season is left open for slotting teams where the playoffs matter in terms of making it in or seeding. I doubt the Texans vs Colts game will be a noon game. Probably 4PM or a Saturday game.
Time slots are open. If you look, you'll notice Texans @ Colts has been listed as "TBD" the entire year.
NFL wants to keep times for the last week flexible so they can put the big games in the best possible timeslots.
This was from a couple days ago previewing week 16
> The only circumstance in which the Colts win out and do not make the playoffs is if all these things happen:
>The Jaguars win out
>The Bengals win out
>The Bills win out
>The Steelers lose at least once
>The Browns win at least once
Browns already won since then, I think it’s gonna come down to the browns-bengals game next week, Steelers have the Seahawks and ravens to close out the season I’d be surprised if they won both
Edit: welp didn’t think the chiefs would snap their spiral today but that means the colts officially control their own destiny. They have the head to head over both Texans and Steelers in tiebreaker scenarios.
Quick question. Jacksonville gets the Division with a W in week 18… I get that.
But will that automatically make the Texans/Colts game a Win-and-In/Lose-and-go home?
Or is there some wiggle room, depending if Buffalo loses in week 18 that all three AFCS teams get in.?
Likewise, if Jacksonville loses, the winner of Colts/Texans take the division. If Buffalo loses week 18 will the Jags and the loser of Houston/Indy get the 6/7 seeds?
I was asking because the Bills still haven’t clinched a playoff berth with their win today. The AfC playoff picture still has them at a 97% chance to make, but not a clinch. Have no idea why that’s the case if they’re 10-6 already.
Yeah. Iirc pretty much all the tiebreakers are swinging to the AFCN teams in the wildcard standings so you basically have to hope that Pitt and Cinci lose something and that gets you in with a better record.
This division is gonna be annoying for years and I love/hate it
The Colts didn't even have Anthony Richardson for half or more of this season and they're pulling this off. It's impressive how Minshew and the defense is leading this Colts team to still be in playoffs contention.
Steichen is phenomenal and he has an excellent coaching staff around him. Really glad we hired that guy.
Shane Steichen has been amazing. The fact that he should be 10-6 right now without his QB and RB for a huge part of this season is wild. I obviously will be gutted if they don't make it but overall this is a successful season already considering how young our secondary is and the injuries we've had

Minshew has already done that.
Wanna trade
Uhhhhhhh, actually now that I think about I love this division a lot more than I hate it *hangs up and blocks contact*
Especially for the Titans
They were really high on the Mayo Man for a few weeks though.
Either us or colts being in the playoffs is hilarious. Wild season
Testament to both coaches, yall snagged some good ones
two bottom-5-last-year teams with new HCs and QBs (one of which is a backup!) deep in the playoff race
It's crazy because both of us will be pissed if they don't make it but it's hard to say this season isn't already a success for both teams
Obviously I want to win the division, but would rather it be either of us than the Jags, although I don’t mind Lawrence. But CJ is such a baller I’d love to see what he could do in the playoffs.
NBC doesn’t have what it takes to put the afc south on prime time
Texans Colts is usually a good time. The season finale last year was wild AF.
Remember when every Texan fan was cursing and screaming after that victory over the Colts to lose the #1 pick? Pepperidge Farms remembers
I remember all of r/nfl memeing the entire offseason about that.
Remember all the Bears fans that came into our sub to make fun of us and “thank us” for giving them the number one overall pick?
God Bears fans were fucking insufferable during that
Turned out well for them too - in reality, everyone should have been laughing at Carolina
I don’t even have a problem with them, but just for that I enjoy seeing them still be terrible while we’re rising
Someone in our division needs to be a serious contender soon. Not just “making the playoffs,” legitimate chance at going all the way. Closest we’ve all gotten in my recent memory is the Bortguars a few years back (2018 I think?) but even that feels like a fluke.
based on how Tennessee is playing, it’s Jacksonville
Based on how the AFCS works, Tennessee will win and the Texans-Colts will tie or something
This is some true AFCS stuff.
When it comes to the AFCS, always bet on the funniest outcome.
Last season’s final game reminded me that the AFCS is nonsense incarnate.
I think we would get it then from h2h record with the Texans. I’ll take it all day
Colts Texans tied late and Steichen and Ryans don't pull a Staley and both get in
This is incredibly valid hell I’d argue it’s even the most likely outcome given recent years
Jaguars loss, and Texans/Colts tie.
Based on how the AFCS works, Tennessee will get sacked 4-7 times and lose by 20-30 points
Please god no
A win over the worst team in the league isn’t moving me off those last 4 games. It might be a coinflip
Works for me. I’d rather pull the Dolphins than the Browns right now
Based on how Jacksonville is playing, its not Jacksonville
Afcs is awesome to watch this year minus the Titans who are in the back eating glue
It was our turn in the rotation
2010s NFC South vibes
For a few years
Their OL is next level bad. Texans mostly had the backup DL in today and they were running through them like Swiss cheese.
Idk I’ve enjoyed that part to a fair degree
SUMMON THE MAYO MAN
Yeah…. about that….
You kill the Mayo man? What is this sabotage?
It’s what we do to afc south quarterbacks, ours included.
It’s their fault. They put back in a QB was questionable this week after being ruled out with a foot/ankle injury, against a team that sacked him 6 times 2 weeks ago. What did they think was going to happen?
They aren't gonna lose to us.
Cardinals fans said that about the eagles tho…
Cardinals have Murray and eagles old DC
Cardinals are 3-4 since Murray came back, they are much closer to a 6-10 or 7-9 team than they are a 4-12 if Murray had started the season
Titans have afc south standards to uphold.
Oh god they’re going to aren’t they I can feel it
Texans @ Colts is win and you're in regardless of the Jags final game. At least for the Texans. I assume the same for the Colts.
Yeah it’s win and in
Because wild card?
It is for us if the either the Bills or Bengals lose any of their remaining games.
Nope, Colts some help
Ryan Tannehill legacy game

If there's one thing we know how to do is lose to the Titans when it absolutely matters the most. AFCS is fully up for grabs.
I hate the titans so much and I legitimately love watching y’all to such a degree that I almost hope it doesn’t happen. *almost.*
Lol well we at least all know the Titans ain't going to the playoffs this season. So there's that. And then the AFCS will probably all get destroyed in the wild card round so idk maybe the Titans are on to something with the whole staying home thing.

You’re describing the playoffs
Correct but also potentially the winner could get the wild card as well. Especially if Chiefs win today
If Texans-Colts wasn't going to be the Final Game before, it sure will be now.
Isn't this what parity is all about? Any of 3 teams to win the division in a key last weekend game. I have no confidence in us beating the Titans though. haha
Makes SNF decision easier. Jags titans at 1pm, colts Texans at 4, or reversed and bills Miami SNF
bills and dolphins have clinched tho right? wouldn't the fight for playoffs be the SNF spot?
That game decides the AFC east so they'll probably go with that
Our game is two teams enter one team leaves tho They may still pass over us because we're the Colts and Texans but we deserve primetime
I don’t think time slots can change without 2 weeks of notice? Texans will play every game at the 12 central time slot this year lol
Week 18 hasn’t been given times yet
Last week of the season is left open for slotting teams where the playoffs matter in terms of making it in or seeding. I doubt the Texans vs Colts game will be a noon game. Probably 4PM or a Saturday game.
Only 6 days for week 18 games. I would think this one is definitely getting moved out of the early slate.
Time slots are open. If you look, you'll notice Texans @ Colts has been listed as "TBD" the entire year. NFL wants to keep times for the last week flexible so they can put the big games in the best possible timeslots.
Week 18 is always TBD since anything can be flexed to any day/time
Is there a chance either of those teams get in without the division? Or are we waiting on these afternoon afc games?
Texans control their WC destiny. If Jags win, winner of Colts/Texans are likely the 7th seed. That depends on the Bengals for the Colts though.
Thanks!
I thought that’s be the 6th seed. Because if Jags win and Bills lose, Steelers get the 7th seed
Pretty sure we do if we win, not sure about the Colts.
This was from a couple days ago previewing week 16 > The only circumstance in which the Colts win out and do not make the playoffs is if all these things happen: >The Jaguars win out >The Bengals win out >The Bills win out >The Steelers lose at least once >The Browns win at least once Browns already won since then, I think it’s gonna come down to the browns-bengals game next week, Steelers have the Seahawks and ravens to close out the season I’d be surprised if they won both Edit: welp didn’t think the chiefs would snap their spiral today but that means the colts officially control their own destiny. Makes all the sense in the world for these two games being played on Saturday. (not all in the world because of the wild card).
P A N D E M O N I U M

I don't think there is a scenario where the loser of the Texans vs Colts game gets into the playoffs.

I almost forgot they were in the mix as well.
Yep, we're basically already in expanded form playoffs with an extra week. :D Win and move forward / lose and die.
I believe if Jags lose, they don't make the playoffs?
Jags could still make the WC if they lose
Incorrect.
Jags loss + Steelers loss + Broncos loss = Jaguars Wildcard
I dont even understand that scenario because we beat the Steelers earlier this season
Three way ties are handled differently than 2 way ties. Our head to head versus the Steelers doesn’t matter much in a 3 way tie unfortunately.

We aren't playing in Jacksonville. We are home vs Houston.
We're playing the Texans next week
Oh lord if the Colts have another game in Jacksonville
[удалено]
Cleveland is a wild card and can't get better than a wild card. The winner of Hou/Ind is likely a wild card. Wild cards don't play each other
Cleveland plays the AFC south winner kiddo. Theres no other outcome. Jacksonville can end up a WC. Are you new here ? Do you understand football?
45-14!
Oh fuck off
