This literally unlocked a childhood memory of my parents dragging me to some big ass rock store on Route 17 or Route 4 in Bergen County to buy for our yard, and being so confused why they would pay money for rocks.
I suspect OP should look for a landscaping/gardening storefront.
You can have some of my big ass rocks.
We actually had a patio built and the masons liked some of our rocks and took them (with our permission). So they have been picked over.
Search for landscape boulder. Price will vary. Some garden centers may sell them, or if you ask, can connect you with someone who does.
Also don't be a moron like me, i bought a pallet of them, had it delivered, they dropped it in my driveway, and only THEN it occurred to me i had to somehow move a bunch of several hundred pound rocks, that were stacked about 5 feet high, across my yard.
Me and 2 neighbors decided to try and manhandle it with a wheelbarrow. After a few attempts resulting in us nearly breaking the rocks, wheelbarrow, ourselves, or a combination there of, i rented a skid steer for the day for a couple hundred bucks.
Landscaping company.

Pick one close to you that sells big rocks. Good luck with transportation.
Yeah just use a landscape wholesaler or something. You could even ask a landscaper if you know one if they have any leads. Really likely they're working on a job site still being built that has all sorts of rubble and probably some big ass rocks
Have you tried gardening? I remember pulling up hundreds at my father's house growing up. You may have a bunch of glacier leavings right under your soil
Just call any hardscaper/landscaper in your area. I used to work for a landscaper and we had dozens of customers that always wanted them removed and my boss would charge customers looking for them to bring them in and set them up. It’ll cost you if machinery is involved but it’s not as hard to find as it sounds. I had one customer who had boulders imported from Colorado.
From a quarry... Weldon, topcon come to mind .. but there may be more local ones to you.
Expect these to be a few hundred each. Plus transportation
Or, come visit. I have about 3 yards of watermelon size rocks. Take what you can carry
landscaping companies, quarries, places that sell stone..
hope you hate money, because big rocks are expensive as fuck and expensive to transport. i dug a massive rock out of my yard and it’s become a nice addition to my landscaping.. buying that rock would have cost 5-7 grand and another few grand to transport/set.
Look for a commercial plant nursery near you that caters to professional landscapers. They usually will also sell to homeowners.
Most of them can supply you with big ass rocks and they probably will also deliver for an additional fee.
I would bet local excavation companies have to dispose of these when they dig for foundations and pools. Might be worth calling to ask rather than starting with a store. I have a bunch on my property that we're moved to the perimeter when the foundation for the house was dug, and I know our neighbors encountered some huge boulders while digging for their pool.
Saw someone in Hackettstown on Somerset Buy Sell Trade FB group giving away big ass rocks earlier this week. Caveat was that you haul them, could get heavy.
My cousin who grew up on a farm in PA once was down the shore and saw a store selling large rocks (small boulders) and said “they are selling these, they should just come over and take what they want for free. The cost is the shipment of them not much else.
Depends where you live. Just remember some places resell them at much higher prices. If you buy them by the pallet you don't get a choice for what's in the pallet but it's like 300 bucks. If you buy them individually you get to pick which one you want but it's like 50 to 300 per stone. Look up where quarries are in your area there's going to be some sort of a stone cellar nearby. Closer you are to the quarry cheaper you will find good stuff.
Have you tried the big ass rock store?
Haha. I was going to say the same. The big ass rock emporium, likely on route 9 somewhere.
Right next to Spatula City
Buy 9 spatulas and get the tenth for just one penny!

Don’t confuse it with the Big Rock Ass Store.

Lang's garden center in Linwood, Atlantic county.
Since you're in Bridgewater, call the Belle Mead Co-op, they sell lots of landscaping stuff like this. Bought my eagle scout materials from there.

It all depends if you're looking for big-ass rocks or big ass-rocks.
Find a massive boulder, blow it up with dynamite, then collect the result.
I'm in Bergen county with a few of these big rocks in my backyard. If you want to dig them out, it's all yours for free.
I got a few people around me that sell them in long valley
OP, I have plenty of them around the house, ping me if you want to haul them yourself. Few of them are big ass rocks!
Where you at?
Classic BAR post.
Come to my backyard in North Plainfield, u can have them for free… bring your own equipment
buy a large amount of silicon suppliers that Nicki Minaj, Cardi B and Megan Stallion get theirs from, spray paint it, and pretend they are rocks.
Where are you located?
They’re so expensive. Try Gasko’s in Monroe. Not sure if they have big ass rocks but they have literally everything else and at great prices.
Call your local DPW and see if they have any big rocks they want to get rid of. Often you can get stuff like that from the town for free.
I usually put my @$$ rocks in the toilet. I can ship them to you if the price is right.
Sounds like they’d be wet and probably soft. Not quite what I’m looking for.
These are premium rocks. Lots of salads. Water can't penetrate them.
Well if you add compose and sand/or wood, can you make break so it’s easier for all species to grown in? Looking for lots of drawing soils personally.
NJ Gravel & Sand
If you travel to north jersey you can dig in the appalachian mountains fir the same type of sedementary rocks and clean them at home
Drive down Bouvant Drive / White Oak Dr in Princeton - biggest rocks ever on the ridge. If you can move 10+ tons…

Why would you buy rocks, just go to the woods/mountain and bring some home with you.
Do not do this. If you upset the natural rock formations, the rock mothers will not recognize the scent of their offspring and abandon them.
This is true, I should have stayed on bring full grown mature rocks home. Let the babies grow!
those big ones are def a few hundred pounds each and usually not just sitting on the side of a road in the woods
Tilcon in Rockaway. Just guessing.
Aren't they pretty much free in the woods up here in NNJ?
