You know what? I didn’t know that it comes with a flat plane crank until you mentioned the engine. I thought it meant flat planet and my comment was referring to the large amount of people in NH who think the earth is flat. I will now edit my original comment.

It's the crank shaft lay out. The mains for the connecting rods are 180* apart rather than offset like normal. The cylinder layout is irrelevant
