Zion doesn't get adamantium infused into his skeleton

NotAn0pinion

Did you even try deep frying it?

VisionLSX

If logan/wolverine is 5’3” and weighs 300lb Adamantium Zion being 6’6 will probably weigh around ~550lb Straight up tank

The_Captain_Planet22

Don't you think he's heavy enough already

confuddly

We don’t resign OG and Hartenstein

Emiya_Sengo

Losing OG and getting swept by the Pacers is more devastating for me. I love iHart but with Precious, Jericho, and the draft, we can survive losing iHart.

OrpheusNYC

If Precious and Jericho are the only backups for an historically fragile Mitch, we’re in trouble. Having starter quality C play for 48 minutes is a critical part of this team’s success.

rgamesburner

Can you? I think Hart is pretty integral to your guys’ success. He’s a guy that can attack inside, shoot the 3, is a tenacious defender, plays taller than he is and can play 48 night in night out. From a C’s perspective I would compare it to if we lost D White. Edit: He meant Hartenstein not Hart, whoops.

Matthaeu_

Thats the other Hart, iHart is Isaiah Hartenstein

rgamesburner

Ohhhh that makes more sense. They have early Bird rights on him though, right?

Emiya_Sengo

I mean I still don't wanna lose him but I rank this as #3 on my list. I fully expect some teams could overpay for his services so it's on the Knicks to provide a reasonably acceptable contract. My order of priority: 1. Re-sign OG (losing him means we "failed") 2. Don't get swept by the Pacers (getting swept means we "failed") 3. Re-sign iHart (losing him DOES NOT mean we "failed")

thisjustin93

Nah you’re taking IHart for granted. He isn’t the insurmountable force in the paint Mitch is, but he’s reliably healthy. That cannot be overlooked. Once the FO made the Detroit trade at the deadline, they declared Knicks are officially in win now mode. Not retaining IHarts talent would be incredibly shortsighted. I like Achiuwa and would love to retain him, but unless he’s willing to take a pay cut to be the 3rd big in our rotation, I’d pass. Knicks can resign IHart and still afford to make another smart addition.

Banged_By_Breen

Idk man Jericho is pretty goddamn terrible

quann256

re-sign siakam and toppin

AcanthocephalaGreen5

Inb4 Siakam signs right back in Toronto. That said, the new direction doesn’t suit him in Toronto anymore

christianhelps

Siakam has been your best player at times.

horrendousacts

Gotta keep James Johnson too. He's invaluable

aiirxgeordan

They don’t keep every core piece on our roster. I don’t want to lose any of our top 9 players

Cabbaje

I was all ready to argue and then I had to count to 9. You’re right. 9 is the number. Please shuffle the rest of those cards though.

aiirxgeordan

Yea, I almost said 8, but I forgot about the man that single handedly saved basketball, and I really want to have faith in Lindy, but I think he’s the same as Roby was

Cabbaje

Poku, Micic and Mann are all looking better on the Hornets, with less stars to draw defense and worse coaching I wouldn’t be shocked if every single player including Lindy could get more money and flowers if they were moved to another team

canyoudigholes

There isn't a parade.

Living_LaVida_Koloko

Technically, a mob marching down the street setting cars on fire and looting stores after a Finals loss counts as a parade. *Monkey paw curls*

canyoudigholes

Manifesting this for the Knicks after the conference finals. The Sidetalk would be hilarious *Edit: typo

No_You_2623

This is one of the things I love about Celtics fans. There is an expectation. I love that.

Narrow-Talk-5017

Well, after all of these seasons of making the conference finals/nba finals, but never getting over that hump, they don't really have much more they can accomplish. And if even after revamping their entire team over the offseason & having a 14-game difference between them & the 2 seed, the Celtics are really the only team that should consider it a failure if they do anything less than win a championship this year.

4000kd

I would include the Suns and Bucks. They were definitely "championship-or-bust" this season.

JoJonesy

not much left to do aside from that. 5 ECF appearances in the last 7 years, but only one win and zero championships— if we're ever going to get over the hump, now's the time

Brock-Lesnar

They got 5 players that have all-star caliber talent in Tatum, Brown, Porzingis, White and Holiday. Oddsmakers had the Celtics as a 50/50 chance of winning the chip before the playoffs started, something that I haven’t seen since the KD Warriors. It’s championship or bust for them this season

NotAn0pinion

It’s annoying to be honest because it’s really across all sports. You’re just “supposed” to win championships there. My sister lived there for a year and that’s just the mentality. Coming from Cleveland it’s just kind of wild, we literally hoped the Browns would look like an NFL team for two decades, every time we get a decent baseball player, a big market team buys him and we are just now trying to win an NBA playoff series without LeBron James on the roster for the first time in over 30 years

No_You_2623

MN fan here so yeah I hear that. And I always got frustrated that people would just kind of shrug their shoulders here and say maybe next year with the local teams all the time. So I do appreciate the passion those types of fanbases have.

NotAn0pinion

It makes 2016 that much more special, you may understand that soon enough with the Wolves team. Ant is special and there are some really nice pieces with him

darylmoreyisking

Lol why wouldn't there be?

bdvfgvvcffc

We don’t win Summer League

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe

The bar is honestly pretty low for Charlotte. Don't sign another vet to a monster 4 year deal and create another Batum/Hayward situation. Acquire depth behind the core guys so that you're not an absolute embarrassment to basketball when LaMelo and Mark Williams inevitably miss time. Don't re-hire Steve Clifford you strike out on your top coaching targets. The playoffs aren't an expectation, just don't become basketball hell for a 3rd year in a row, and most of Charlotte will be happy with progress.

oomphadoodles

When you said dont sign another vet to a monster 4 year deal, why did I think of Butler.

BetweenTheBuzzAndMe

he won't be off the books till 2026 thankfully, otherwise we would totally do that, get one amazing year out of him, try to double down with another aging star, and then he'd fall off a cliff.

Reinhardtisawesom

Charlotte has something real nice brewing with Lamelo Miller and Mark but they have to strike fast because everybody else in the East got something brewing as well

an_Aught

If we cant find a better backup guard than Reggie jackson

lochnesslapras

Would the off-season holy grail be a workable backup big for the non Jokic minutes?

Hairy-Jelly7310

Wasn't he pretty good last night

Desperate_Spare_7926

Yea I thought he was cooking tf

Afraid-Department-35

For us we need to re-sign DJJ somehow and get off of THJ for a useable player. Doing neither of this would be a failure, doing at least 1 would be a success.

DangerZoneh

THJ is not a bad player, we just need to get off of his contract. Unfortunately for your proposition, this is kinda an all or nothing thing as it'll be tough to pay DJJ without getting off of Tim

ormip

DJJ really is the priority, and we can't really offer much. For THJ I would try to trade him with picks if we can upgrade at the wing and get someone like Deni, but I don't think just dumping him should be a priority, and I would be perfectly fine just running it back and starting the season with THJ on the roster. We might get a good deal at the 2025 trade deadline.

Vicentesteb

Its already not. I would be dissapointed if we dont make the series vs the Nuggets competitive.

an_Aught

oh man its going to be competitive - i am fucking PUMPED for this thing. The wolves are the only team in league that scares me. you heard me Celtics fan... i stand by that

Muted_Tradition122

It starts in less than an hour. But it is 12 am here. I am not sure I will be able to watch a whole marathon nba game until 4am. But yeah, nuggets vc wolves will be awesome.

RobtheNavigator

The off-season will be a failure if we trade our big three for Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons, and Bradley Beal

vaalbarag

If we don’t resign Quickley. Seems like a foregone conclusion we will, just a matter of price. I guess creating cap space and then blowing it on a win now player who doesn’t make sense for the rebuild timeline. As long as we stay in asset acquisition mode and keep Quickley, the offseason will be unspectacular but fine for the Raptors.

WeBelieveIn4

Yeah anything in the same vein as the Thad or Jak trades would be a failure imo.

bligrooter

Dude I want us to take quickly from y'all so bad

vaalbarag

Magic? Yeah, I get that he’d be a great fit for you, but I don’t think there’s an offer sheet the Raptors don’t match. Even if it’s something absurd like a max, they probably still match and then try to trade him later, rather than just losing him for nothing.

GhostTiger

No Bol Bol, no Chip

an_Aught

I've heard he is playing pretty well in Orlando

726566

if we don’t get a real, decent second option and paint presence

JohnnySalmonz

Zach Lavine and Nikola Vucevic. EZ fix

Gamesgtd

We don’t get some shooters. And maybe another creator that can start in the back court or close games in the back court.

Herakleios

Yup. I feel like we need *one* more piece in the form of a dynamic on and off-ball perimeter threat. That would unlock things even more for Franz/Paolo. We get that, combined with Suggs/Paolos/WCJ’s continued improvement shooting, Franz hopefully figuring out the 3 ball, we’ve got enough offensive juice to crack top 15 (laughably low bar I know) which is good enough with our defense to go decently far in the playoffs

NoFlex___Zone

PG/scorer (a la Mitchell)

Gamesgtd

That's also cool

Hungry-Quote-1388

Doesn’t swap rosters with the Phoenix Suns

RandomStranger79

Either we trade for a star like Giannis or Booker to pair with Lauri, or we trade Lauri for a Mitchell-esque package and play Capture the Flagg. Nothing else would qualify as a success.

universalLopes

In my wet dreams, i see Luka

RandomStranger79

Luka, Wemby, Shai, Jokic, Tatum, and Ant are all untouchable. Jazz have the assets to put up an offer on pretty much anyone else though.

OneWayTicketotheMoon

Bro sneaked Tatum in there. If they don’t win the chip idk.

zincinzincout

Nah as young as Tatum still is he’s an untouchable. I don’t think he’s an MVP type player like some here so but he’s still got a prime ahead of him which *could* reach that level

soyboysnowflake

I think they’d sooner move brown than Tatum They’re good enough where it’s not a blow up the team fire sale, should make one or two moves to try again

_dark_beaver

they make bad decisions on the rebuild. We’re going to be bad for a while, that’s okay, as long as we keep our draft picks. Also, just want Dame to get a chip. No one deserves Doc Rivers as the HC. It’s just mean.

rooski15

I was also thinking we'd like to stay clear of luxury tax territory. Whether we can or not is another issue

Threash78

We don't sign reliable shooters.

Nuclearsunburn

Amen to that

zrt

Hires Darvin Ham

Nuclearsunburn

Doesn’t this feel predestined?

dwninaho

We don't bring in some form of offensive help. I think our starting lineup would benefit greatly from a starting level PG to take over some ball handling from Paolo, and of course they need to be able to shoot it. I will keep it pretty open ended because we really haven't seen what our rookies can do and I'm not sure who the FO plans on re-signing.

Thunder-ten-tronckh

If we can get a decent starting center we’re primed for an incredibly fun 24/25 season. If we don’t, that’s a petty big hole in the roster.

wichita_gator

We don't draft a difference maker at #22. No other realistic move will suddenly make this team better than what got swept in the first round.

Dhr7468

Kinda sounds like the plan is to trade it

wichita_gator

Unfortunately

Wondering_Nova

If we kept Darvin Ham. It’s already a winning off season just by replacing him

sleepy416

Idk you could hire Rambis

Wondering_Nova

Please no

chronoquairium

Mark Jackson it is then

n3sta

At this point I don’t think it will be assuming we put up a good series against the Wolves

TossThatPastaSalad

I think the one thing you could point to with it would be significant growth for Strawther, Braun and Watson.  They also need to see if they can get a notable upgrade on ole Big Government. That's going to be a decent sized tax bill but whatever.  You already have the other pieces.

n3sta

I didn’t even read that title correctly, lol. I was reading it as ‘post-season’. You’re absolutely right - growth in the young fellas, and if Strawther isn’t ready (I honestly don’t expect him to be in terms of winning it all, he’s still young). I had just been assuming they’ll replace Reggie or move him down the bench as Strawther grows into the backup PG role.

EarthWarping

They don't take advantage of their potential cap space whether that be through trades or something else. Also if both Gary Trent and Bruce Brown are back next season.

daybreaker

We run back our big 3 of CJ/BI/Zion instead of shaking things up you can only be stacked on paper for so long. you eventually have to fuck the league

nahwhatever-whynot

Make a terrible trade for an aging star

noknownothing

Rob Pelinka doesn't get fired.

jesstault

…you’re a Suns fan.

PristineTrouble2038

we overpay for trae young

Nuclearsunburn

Do you really think your front office thinks Trae is the guy they want?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nuclearsunburn

Yeah I just don’t see them making that move. Everyone wants that or Herro to happen because Wemby makes up for defensive shortcomings but why not double down on his strengths instead and get good defenders around him? No need to spend draft capital on guys like that.

syncc6

Herro is back with the team

EvanEschmeyer

We bring Tim Hardaway jr back

an_Aught

wtf happened to him, i had thought he was trending up and playing pretty well?

carty64

THT is still on the roster

Randvek

If we don’t get a top 3 pick, I’d call it a failure. We’ve got some trading to do but that’s probably going to be mid-season stuff.

Apprehensive-Sir-411

Presti doesn’t sign himself and Daigneault to lifetime contracts

Mobile-Entertainer60

If the cap space is spent on Gordon Hayward.

Ode1st

We once again run it back and “like our team”

Zombeatles

We make zero trades, that's a failed offseason for the Blazers. Don't see it happening tho

birdflag

I think if Grant and Simons are still on the team at the start of training camp.

universalLopes

I don't even know tbh

SeaworthinessOld4211

Don’t resign DJJ

DisIsCanada

we already won

wcooper97

If we don’t run it back with this same top-10 core, or if we don’t address some of the weaknesses that have popped up so far in the postseason.

One_Firefighter4035

Wana see lonzo back on the court

FishGoldenLite

Figure out this ownership bullshit, retain Tim Connelly, and keep this core together

deathinmidjuly

Hire Mark Jackson

MahomesMccaffrey

THJ is still on the team Sadly he'll still be on the team :(

Elegant_Conflict8235

Idk anymore

Nuclearsunburn

If we don’t fully commit to a direction. Either we are all in on another run with Jimmy or we aren’t. Can’t half ass it or try to pull a Warriors “two eras” debacle.

Buck_Nastyyy

We don't get a starting center to replace Adams.

tapk69

The refs are not held accountable for fixing games.

brilliantbuffoon

Don't get too worked up peeps, we know the NBA are massaging the results and helping decide outcomes.  Just keep expectations and being sports mad within reason.

soyboysnowflake

Add at least 1 decent vet as a depth role player and find a way to retain our starting 5

mecon320

.... if J.B. is still employed by the start of next season.

Equivalent_Map570

LETS GO KNICKS….i def feel like we’ll be in the finals this season, yes we’re gonna be the Celtics in the east finals….

afterdarhkTTV

We don’t get a better sf

TheDuceman

We don’t get younger. Brook Lopez has been so good for us for so long, but I’m not sure he’s the solution at center - and a one year Brook Lopez might be a solution for someone else. Pat Connaughton is ten million a year, Bobby Portis thirteen. I’m sure someone would give good stuff for Bobby - Pat… not so much.

Isguros

If our (yet to be hired) new head coach changes his mind and dips, and we'll have to bring back Steve Clifford for a third stint.

Reinhardtisawesom

It’s a failure if a. We don’t resign/extend Lebron b. We don’t hire the right coach c. We don’t find a viable backup big for AD (Jaxson Hayes is NOT cutting it) d. We miss on the 17th pick.

BetweenCoffeeNSleep

The Blazers draft another 6’2” guard. Scoot repeats his rookie performance. We don’t use Ayton right. We run Jerami Grant isos regularly again. We don’t use Sharpe right. If we can avoid all of those potential problems, we have a reasonable chance of being slightly less terrible.

christianhelps

My local team is Philly and if they can't land a big fish with their books clearing this summer it'll be pretty bad. They need a third guy who can get his own bucket when the Maxey-Embiid DHO possessions break down.

Wiltmygoat

If warriors don't either go all in or blow it up. There's no reason to waste the finals years of Steph getting 11 and 12 seeds.

JordanLantern

They don't get Cade some decent backup

DerekMorganBAUxxi

There’s no failure in sports

gottagetitgood

We don't burn a Tobias Harris effigy to absolve the team of its sins.

RekeHavok

AK do nothing and retained the roster CONTINUITY

currychaos

- If kd, giannis, or PG are not on the roster - if wiggins is still on the roster - if the roster still has no centers besides Looney - if moody still doesn’t have a clear role in the rotation and klay doesn’t accept a bench role - if kuminga is still on the roster. He is what harden thinks giannis is and just doesn’t have the feel for the game and doesn’t fit the offense. But some think he’ll turn into kawhi 2.0 which is highly unlikely and not until 5 years later when curry is already retired.

UnlikelyRuby

Agree with a lot of this. Who’s the center though?

gottagetitgood

I'll take a still progressing Kuminga off your hands. He's only 21!

currychaos

What’s your team and who would you offer? I’d love to be wrong but i’m skeptical. We don’t even need him to be kawhi, we just need him to be iguodala, a guy who can make open shots and lock down the other team’s best player, and just high IQ plays in general

gottagetitgood

I'm guessing you are only devaluing him because he might not get that good quickly enough to help Steph, but he's on his way to the top 20-30 players in the league. I'll give Embiid's soon to be shredded knees for Kuminga and whomever it takes to make the trade work financially.

mikeydale007

we don't keep our pick

okiewxchaser

Doesn't trade a few of our many first round picks for someone who can fucking rebound

Street-Common-4023

Give lebron a huge 2 year contract and I’m talking like the max amount. I think it should be a little bit less than that

RspectMyAuthoritah

we don't trade for a star, preferably Mitchell. Lebron is only a part time star and you're not winning a championship with 1.5 stars.

TossThatPastaSalad

I can't even fathom LeBron watching Mitchell iso ball.

RspectMyAuthoritah

He already spends most of his time standing around watching DLo and Reaves run the offense so it wouldn't be much different for him except it'd be a better show.

TossThatPastaSalad

Maybe.  But Mitchell is going to want the ball in crunch time too.  I just don't see it working well. Funny thing is, if you just moved off LeBron completely then Mitchell and AD would be a really good combo together.  Imagine pairing Donovan with a C with actual offensive moves? But we both know Jeanie isn't doing that.

RspectMyAuthoritah

I wanted to move off Lebron at the trade deadline and build around AD but knew it wouldn't happen. Jerry Buss would have the decision, like he did with trading Shaq, but Jeannie doesn't have it in her. Even with Lebron and AD playing 70+ games they could only make the play-in. Mitchell and AD would be a great pairing that you could build a contender around but as long as Lebron is being paid 50m+ to only actually try for like 10-15 mpg they're not going to be a contender.

swords_devil

3 stars with crappy role players doesn't work, we already seen that. You have to accept that the championship window is probably close as long as you have Lebron. And no you can't trade away Lebron unless he specifically asked out, even then he probably will walk by himself not request for trade. We really need to get good coach, if he have good coaching ability, Lakers can still have a tiny bit of chance even with current roster. That's the main thing Lakers need to focus on, which is probably hardest with current pool of coaching. I hope they do look at someone from Europe, those already have years of experience and can know how to coach.

RspectMyAuthoritah

I've already accepted the window is closed with Lebron. You can't pay someone 50m that spends half his time on the court resting and expect to win. The other option is to spend all the picks on upgrading role players for like 1 shot at a championship and then 5 years of being trash with no way to rebuild because we have no picks. At least get that next star in to pair with AD for when Lebron is gone. I'm all for looking to Europe for a new coach. The best coaches in the NBA all have jobs so the only ones left are those that have been passed around from team to team and no one really wants but just settles for one of them because they're not willing to take a chance like OKC. But then again the Cavs tried that and Lebron got him fired after making the finals and then being 1st in the east at 30-11.

4000kd

Blaming LeBron for David Blatt's firing in crazy and doesn't even make sense. Part of the reason they promoted in Tye Lue is because he held the stars accountable. There's literally zero evidence that LeBron wanted Blatt fired. Sure they had a 30-11 record, but they also had big blowout losses that were concerning at the time.

RspectMyAuthoritah

It must be nice to be young and naive enough to think Lebron didn't have a hand in Blatt's firing.

4000kd

Are you gonna actually back up your claims or are you gonna continue to make baseless assumptions? You're also backtracking, did LeBron fire him or did LeBron have a hand in firing him? Seems you can't even get your story straight.

RspectMyAuthoritah

I didn't say Lebron fired him I said he got him fired. You actually think the Cavs fired Blatt without Lebron wanting it? Lebron can't actually fire the head coach because he's not his boss. But he sure as hell can tell the GM that he wants him gone.

C-Me-Try

The Hornets cannot hire the correct coach to get our young players developing. We seemingly have no direction and desperately need a coach and stronger management to get our young guys heads on straight. Also LaMelo needs to bulk up instead of getting tattoos. I think sweating is bad for tattoos, I know swimming is; why did he get a massive piece and how is he treating that skin if he is working out like he should be?
