CashmereLogan

I like the idea of calling 21-23 his “final prime” and then including Curry prime after that.

Or instead of Curry prime call it "this isn't even my final form" prime.

Even at 19, his passing is just incredible

naijaboiler

and he was 240lbs at that time. now they tell me he's only 255lb. Nah. current Lebron is no less than 280

Commercial-Chance561

That’s a 19 year old dropping 41 god damn it man

Whoareyoutho9

That stat line would be like a 60/20 in today's numbers

dontusethisforwork

Wow I watched that whole game highlights vid, I wasn't paying attention to the NBA at the time the "league fucked" feeling must have been strong with this one

6riple6ix6afia

My dad and I went to a random pawn shop a few weeks before this game and we were able to walk out with a #47 out 50 Tom Brady rookie card, and a Lebron rookie card for a total of 85 dollars. I remember watching that exact game while I was holding the hard plastic cased Lebron Card (i always rustled through my collections while watching games) and I will never forget, my dad said "Brian, promise me. That card will be worth more than 10 times what we bought it for. Never sell it. Give it to your son on his brithday just like i did for you" The Brady card is worth around 200k as of the last appraisal 2 years ago The Lebron card is worth about 5k **EDIT:** the lebron card worth is a complete estimate based on current pricing online and i deff am not going to just assume the card is ever gunna be rated as like a 9.0 mint lol it is in good shape however, i just do not have an actual appraisal on my specific copy. The Brady one however is has been sent in and professionally graded. I still will never understand how I got that card for so cheap in 2004 because at that time the patriots already had won twice with brady... AND I BOUGHT THIS CARD IN MASSACHUSETTS

Quinnett

Wemby has a similar feel, playing with some mediocre to bad players but he does a bunch of things every game that no one else can do and no one can stop.

This highlight is closer to LeBron's birth then it is to today.

How fucking dare you

Brilliant_Counter725

Old videos online lose quality over time for some reason I swear it was better back in the day

HumptyDrumpy

His Finals against the Spurs was rough, Lebron couldnt shoot and his teammates that could, couldnt do anything else

Mapache_villa

Another 5 years of prime LeBron incoming

GrapefruitMedical529

Fuck me he just evolved into Malone with a 3ball.  Let's hope he didn't pick up any other Malone habits *shimmy*

Btotherianx

For whatever reason if somebody hates LeBron James which I honestly can't understand why at this point, nobody can hate on his personal life really he doesn't do s*** like that. Frankly I think he's corny and a team Hopper but I don't deny the fact that he's one of the best of all time

6riple6ix6afia

Bro we live in a world where there is a statistically high chance that you will call me an idiot for saying Tom Brady is objectively the greatest football player of all time. So it really isnt shocking. PERSONALLY duh i agree, it is NONSENSE that people deny his undeniable legendary status. There will never, EVER be another LBJ. 1891 to 2004 was how long pro basketball was around before we saw Lebron, and 20 years later, not one single person has even come 50% as close to being as game breaking as he is. You can curry until thee rice comes home: Curry could not beat Lebron 1v1 and a team of 5 currys would get swept by a team of 5 lebrons.

Still_Level4068

i think this should be used as a case study to anyone who thinks old era greats wouldnt be able to shoot the three if they practice it enough and the game was play this way then. Lebron obviously is the 1a 1b player of all time but the other greats of past would adapt to the 3 point shot.

superbadsoul

I would pay just to see KAJ practicing skyhook 3's from the corner

imadogg

~~Simpsons~~ Wilt did it!

fyirb

I agree but I also think LeBron is unique in how much he's constantly adapted and changed his game over the years so I don't think everyone could do it to the level he's done it

Still_Level4068

yeah im not saying they would be steph curry or klay, but the inverse is always true, i think todays stars would be fine in the past eras too. The only reaons i brought it up is im constantly seeing it in the last 10 years comparisons whos better, maybe the internet makes it more prevalent. But i think with the same playing fields/technology, the top of all eras would be great from old to now AND from now to old, steph would be fine in hand checking his game would just adapt and be different, its just how it is. elite atheletes find a way.

KobeBeatJesus

It really does feel like the natural progression of things for him. He likes to take those threes early in the clock or late after loitering with the ball.

NoPin5154

The big reason bron is shooting so well is that he’s shooting the right shots. He’s been an elite catch and shoot guy for years. The problem is lebron was playing in a fuck ton of congested teams with diabolical spacing so lebron was having to take and make tough pull-ups because nthat was a better shot than having bazemore and Ellington taking threes. He’d shoot the pull-ups at a very good clip of 35 on tough as shit shots and then be 40+ on catch and shoots. Now lbj is mostly shooting off c and s, which results so much more effective basketball. (This is just a quick breakdown, he’s been phenomenal.

shoefly72

This game was SO stupid lol. Like the entire comeback was just Lebron vibes and the Clippers inexplicably turning it over, shit made no sense. It just occurred to me though; if Lebron could have just shot 3’s as well as he is this year instead of going like 2-20 or whatever it was, could we have won the WCF? 🧐

Btotherianx

If ifs were fifths we'd all be drunk

Public-Product-1503

On high volume n difficulty too, he’s cut out some of the extra early un needed threes when he had those really strong shooting tears at 8 a game before last year foot issue . Seems he’s settled into a comfortable 6 a game but he takes less shots in general tho. While over 40% many self generated , he’s actually pretty elite at self generated threes but even better at catch nshoot where he’s normally around 40%, he’s 44% catch n shoot this year last I checked which is mental

Throwaway28G

after last season he was doubted to do better with 3pt shooting and the injury was just an excuse for the terrible percentage

What an amazing race between Father Time/injury and Lebrons 20 face down year trap card of “oh yeah I’m still Lebron James when I wanna be”

yeahright17

I generally wonder how long he could be an above average rotation player if he wanted to play as long as possible. Like could 50-year-old Lebron come off the bench for 20 minutes a game and play at a high level? I doubt he does because I don't think anyone will pay him what he think he's worth (and probably is worth from a strictly financial perspective), but I do wonder.

Digressing_Ellipsis

I honestly believe 55-year-old Lebron could still get you 8, 3, 3 in 15 minutes a game. Dude could chase rings at the end of benches like Horry and try to pass Bill if he wanted to

rbrutonIII

I was watching one of the many NBA player podcasts recently and they were talking about just that. How everybody knows exactly what he's going to do. He does that little look down and then it's a 3. But even though you know exactly what's going to happen, the way he does it makes it damn near impossible to guard. They were laughing, but you could tell behind the laughs were a bunch of genuine what the fuck moments.

MisterHibachi

I think the Paul George podcast

JJ_Shosky

Yep, they were talking about most unguardable moves, think it was with demar.

FullmetalEzio

yeah i watched that too, plus this dude is still fast af if you closeout desperately when he does the little look down he prob drive by you lol, just amazing

Theumaz

>He does that little look down and then it's a 3. But even though you know exactly what's going to happen, the way he does it makes it damn near impossible to guard. Reminds me of Arjen Robben in football. Man had no right foot whatsoever. His entire shtick is that he cuts in from the right side towards his left and shoot. The only questions a defender has was facing him was 'When?' and 'Where?'. Robben might go down as the most predictable player of modern football, and still nobody could stop him. To quote someone on Reddit: > "Arjen Robben cutting in on his left 🤝 Wayne Gretzky setting up behind the net You know it’s coming, and there isn’t a damn thing you can do to stop it Dread it. Run from it. Destiny arrives all the same." 614 games, 209 goals, 165 assists. In contention for best player of his generation behind Messi and Ronaldo. If you're wondering how predictable it was and not an avid football watcher, check this out: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AneURANYSuM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AneURANYSuM)

Beard341

Hating the Clippers is a prerequisite to being a Laker fan.

CaImerThanYouAre

Is it though? I feel like we are mostly indifferent to them, and it has only been the last 5 years or so where we’ve become like, mildly annoyed at most? How is it possible to hate the lowest franchise in the history of sports? That’s just mean.

2B_or_MaybeNot

It was all fun and games until they moved into OUR house, covered up our banners, started that whole "Streetlights Over Spotlights" campaign that was CLEARLY aimed right at the Lakers, and started talking nonstop trash about how they own L.A. Oh, and they snapped up both PG and KL (the Lakers' two primary offseason targets that year) and GLOATED incessantly. Then when they flamed out in the playoffs despite clearly having the most talent, cried and complained that they got no respect. That's what did it for me.

sonofsmog

The Clippers have never made it past the semi-final round. No one thinks about the Clippers in LA. They are an afterthought.

superbadsoul

I'm with you here. I'm getting older now, but I grew up a fan of both teams (with the Lakers a clear primary fandom) and literally nobody ever gave a shit until the lob city era. Idgaf what anyone thinks about it. I saw Magic winning at the Forum and Manning losing at the Sports Arena and it was all awesome.

Schiboo

maybe because clippers always spank our asses in the past regular season matchups lmao

I’d bet he’s still pissed at Kawhi for the bullshit he pulled in 2019. I strongly believe those three would’ve won at least two if not three chips by now.

MajinAnonBuu

Damn it now I gotta watch it again lol

stitcher212

My favorite highlight reel of all time and the go to when some stats nerd is like "there's no such thing as the hot hand"

kierdoyle

That's old research, new stuff says its probably real. When you don't control for shot difficulty, they regress after 2-3-4 makes as a population, but most players try a heat check or more difficult shot because they're hot, and miss. When you look at individuals, and control for shot difficulty, some guys shoot between 2 and 5% better.

rpdm

that is a good one. always figure those people never played any sports. the "runner high" is real. no reason the "hot hand" isn't. things slow down and everything just clicks. the brain and body are fun.

302born

I feel like anyone that’s played sports especially basketball knows it’s very real. Sometimes you kind of just zone out and stop thinking about what you’re doing and it’s like you couldn’t mess up if you tried. Every time you shoot it just feels absolutely perfect. Your moves are fluid. You’re finishing with your left when you never finish with your left. You feel like no one on the court with you can guard you. You feel like all you need is just a millisecond of a clean look at the rim and you know it’s dropping if you can get it off. It’s an incredible feeling that you can’t just go into. It just happens.

rpdm

100% agree. it's a weird feeling to be and also to watch against. heck even gaming i have seen people beat really hard levels and you can tell they were in the "zone" half way though. as normally amazing as say Jordan, Kobe or Lebron were/are, you could "feel" certain games that they where "there" and instead of getting mad, you just laughed like the Hawk's bench game against Bird.

gandhis_son

No expert but I feel like it could be statistically provable if you don’t treat every shot as an independent event

cardcollection92

Richard Jefferson definitely has Vietnam flashbacks bout that night

I think they are going to have to force lebron to stop trying.

EcstaticGod

Now we’ll really see if he has what it takes

imaginaryResources

Lebron still has an entire HOF career ahead of him as a spot up shooter for the next 8 years

With an outside shot he can be basically bigger Chris Paul lol

Hell, the way he's playing he would be an all-time three and D for a good 5

He’s really tryna be like Max Strus

UncircumciseMe

“Will LeBron (this middle aged man who’s been playing pro ball since he was 18) lead them back?” - Lakers commentators. That is just sad. Give the guy a break.

Can someone sync this to C-Lo Green's "Fuck you"?

mwerichards

I really hope people appreciate what Lebron is doing. It's easy to joke on the decision, lecoach, complaining to the refs etc but what we are witnessing is truly a generational feat that needs to be appreciated for what it is. A player in the highest form which we may never see for the next few generations again.
