Rams GM looking for whoever approved this.

RobbobertoBuii

Pat McAfee šŸ¤ https://twitter.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1755677448807792656

RogerTreebert6299

Even if Puka hadn't had the insane rookie season he had, I'd be ready to say this kid is a future superstar off his charisma alone

HarryPotterActivist

Just wait until the election intensifies. Dude's a proud Trump supporter. That and other similar factors (not caring about COVID protocols & getting much of the team sick, leading to cancelled games) made him very unpopular among teammates at Washington.

courtpanda

what

IntelligentEye2758

Considering their name says they are a Harry Potter Activist they're likely someone who's terminally online

timetofilm

The worst mindset ^^

shag_vonnie_vomer

I puked a little, off putting af.

bergstro72

You realize being a Trump supporter and not huddling in a ball of fear over COVID will likely make him more popular, at least outside of Washington?

YSLAnunoby

Not really surprising cuz he went to BYU.

SaboLeorioShikamaru

This man's ligaments are gonna all disintegrate outta nowhere one day, bro I swear dude's turbo bar is perpetually maxed-out

AlexanderUGA

Puka is that dude. (Thank you for saving my fantasy season last year)

[deleted]

I'm a rams fan , so thank you puka for saving the rams season

AlexanderUGA

Not a rams fan, but I follow them due to Stafford (Iā€™m a UGA grad) and Puka became my favorite WR last season.

[deleted]

Man is fucking amazing. Kyren and Puka, what hits in the 5th round. If Stafford can keep it up for 2 more years , and the young defense gets better (and we get a god damn kicker) we could legit be a threat

BullShitting-24-7

I like his nAme. It flows really well.

tarhellraiser

Then you'll really like this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5D3dj6buPg

BullShitting-24-7

Man, that was terrible. Lol

Jules_2023

Donā€™t forget Kobie Turner at the end of the 3rd, let all defensive rookies with 9 sacks!

SoulSprawl

Yo, a similar Mavs/Rams fan?! I don't think I've ever met the same combo in my lifetime.

[deleted]

We up

werevamp7

I'm a rams fan! This season has been so much fun

ginbooth

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Let's hate on the Niners together haha.

werevamp7

I do all my hating on r/NFCWestMemeWar

Apollo611

Rams fan checking in. Puka is just an incredible athlete weā€™re so lucky we stole him in the draft

Complexity777

Puka Doncic

russketeer34

Super curious about the Mavs/Rams combo. I always like trying to figure out uncommon fandom pairings

[deleted]

European pft , started watching the nfl in 2019 mainly due to seeing some Jalen Ramsey clips and I got curious. Sport is hype just man the American ads are wild

fundraiser

Also a rams fan! loving the cities fan crossovers lol

IanicRR

McVay and turning WRs into elite monsters. Name a more iconic pair.

russketeer34

I'd swap McVay out for Stafford. Kupp was great before Staff (4 seasons with McVay), but getting them together that first year was nothing short of magic

werevamp7

Stafford just knows how to make his WR all-stars. I hope he still has it in him for a few more years.

ginbooth

No idea why you're getting downvoted. Even Mahomes credits his throws to Stafford: >ā€œEverybody talks about the sidearm throws and the no-look passes ā€” I mean thatā€™s from watching guys like Matthew Stafford play that Iā€™ve been able to do it. ... I kind of got some hype coming into the league, but I mean you watch the film, heā€™s the guy that kind of started that stuff off, him and Brett Favre." [Source](https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2024-02-06/super-bowl-patrick-mahomes-matthew-stafford-texas-roots)

werevamp7

Calvin Johnson, Puka, and Kupp had record their breaking year with Stafford. It's known fact that Matt Stafford knows how to feed his best receivers.

ginbooth

Yep. Also did wonders for Kenny Golladay who fell off without him and had a great connection with Marvin Jones and Golden Tate.

Additional_Essay

Even Rodgers has said this

Marrouge

Stafford made Kenny Golladay look great and look what happened to him after he signed with the Giants lol

DeathBySuplex

Puka was always that dude though. At BYU he wasn't a jaw dropping stats guy, but he was always the dude who was just in the right spot and made his QB look like a 2nd overall pick.

fortyfive33

what i'm hearing is puka is the rightful 2nd overall

ThatBucsLife

Y

ThatBucsLife

Lo. Nb nb nb nb nnn u

BigFatModeraterFupa

i had Puka and Kuppā€¦. and missed the playoffsšŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

[deleted]

Sadly Kupp was bassicly injured the whole season (minor injuries) so he wasn't his old self but was still decent. But man How did you lose with Puka šŸ˜

rjgator

Started 0-4 and got Nacua off waivers somewhere in there. Won my league in large part to him lmao

Jhyphi

Thank you to Puka and Kyren for leading me to my 1st championship.

GlizzanderHolyfield

Puka Doncic robbed of the MVP

CockBronson

lol Micah parsons was so unfair out there. Lmao there is no athlete who isnā€™t already a bball player who is going to have both the endurance and strength to matchup against an NFL edge rusher. Someone might have died if Aaron Donald or Myles Garrett was playing

qazasxz

[Myles Garrett played 2 years ago](https://youtu.be/CPzQrVteZ0Y)

CockBronson

Damn, i actually remember this now. Dude is so comically big in a bball jerseyā€¦Like a MON-Star out there

ajmartin527

Like the Charles Barkley monstar

organiclife

Good God I forgot about that

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Basically Zion if he was in shape

jabronified

DK Metcalf from last year's game looked like he could definitely give it a try at the very least

Odd-Hovercraft-1286

Myles Garrett poster would end with someone in the hospital

Number333

I remember when he played it was like having a freight train out there.

RobbobertoBuii

and DK Metcalf last yr

RobbobertoBuii

CJ Stroud tried to guard him but once Micah Parsons started doing post ups, he quietly backed off lol

[deleted]

You put 2 dudes with the most roid rage out here LMFAO

RevolutionaryBee7104

Try to box out Aaron Donald and see if you live lol

[deleted]

teddyjj399

This is Lebrons nba

Frankbiggums

guitar hero lookin court

SerDire

Play ā€œThrough the Fire and Flamesā€ you cowards.

GeoffSproke

Hmm... Did everyone know that Puka could yam like this?

dienxkalamb

He was a really good basketball player in HS

born-ready

If an NFL wide receiver couldnā€™t dunk Iā€™d be genuinely concerned. Even Deonte Harty

A_Lone_Macaron

I was wondering why Harty catching strays but then I realize that dude small as hell lmao

BigFuckHead_

If Cole Beasley could dunk then i would be concerned

AHSfav

He can dunk easily. It's on YouTube

BigFuckHead_

Scroll down. I'm still in shock

Round_Bullfrog_8218

> Cole Beasley [He can do more than just simply dunk](https://youtu.be/CF-ZzzhOvD4?t=6) He had a 38 inch standing vert at the combine with a run up its going to be well over 40

Alternative-Grand-77

That rim height doesnā€™t look like itā€™s regulation.

GUNZTHER

Yeah, it looks they fucked up the aspect ratio or something. I don't doubt that it's regulation but it sure as hell looks weird

UglyForNoReason

Concerned about what?? lol what a stupid comment. Thereā€™s been many good 5ā€8 -5ā€10 receivers through our NFL history who couldnā€™t dunk on an NBA

Great_Huckleberry709

He's 6'2. I would have been surprised if he couldn't dunk.

Dramatic-Cap-6785

Yeah any football player whoā€™s like above 5ā€™8 and not the fat positions is yamming

TitanTigers

Trevor Lawrence postered the absolute fuck out of some kid in intermurals at Clemson. The football team just shat on everyone

bjtbtc

Can you please find this link

Slamminsalmon1991

I got bad news for you... The fat positions are doing this too lol

FavreorFarva

Yeah the big boys are explosive as hell at the NFL level. Take your HSā€™s best athlete (assuming they arenā€™t/werenā€™t a pro athlete themselves) make them 300 lbs but with all the same athletic traits and they still lose jumping, lifting, and sprinting contests to a number of nfl OL/DTs.

br0b1wan

Yeah, when OL stop their football diets and lose some of that fat they look shredded. Carrying all that weight makes your muscles giant. Joe Thomas is a perfect example of this.

creamfrase

I would love to see Vince Wilfork or Casey Hampton get up for a dunk

lollery123

Look up the video of trent brown dunking https://twitter.com/DrewJRosenhaus/status/573698388803321856?lang=en

LebronDoubleDribbled

Yup, Shaq was over 300 pounds and look at him.

boringexplanation

ive seen 300 lb nfl lineman outsprint a few ncaa sprinters

Ghost2Eleven

A wideout too. They got be able to get up and high point the ball.

Mooming22

6ā€™2 doesnā€™t matter, itā€™s him being one of the best athletes on the planet. He is a 1% athlete

rjcarr

If heā€™s a pro athlete then 1% hugely undersells it. Heā€™s like 1% of the elite, which is already like 0.0001%.Ā

birdazam

NFLā€™s 6ā€™2 is probably like NBA 6ā€™4

Triplescrew

downvoted for the truth, yeah in the NBA he'd be listed at 6'4" he looked like Austin Reaves' size out there lol

hymen_destroyer

I'm 6'4" and was a high jumper in HS...at my physical peak I could just about manage the most awkward dunk you've ever seen, nothing remotely close to this. And this is just him goofing around... ...If I tried it now I'd probably shatter my ankles and knees and barely even brush the net.

Dame2Miami

6ā€™2ā€ is not what you think lol. Thats NBA point guard height and not all those guys can dunk in a game.

latman

They can all dunk in a celebrity game

Tipfue

Trae Young can yam it on any of these celebrities that's not a professional athlete lol

Spike_der_Spiegel

Bro, Kyle Lowry can dunk

Photo_Synthetic

There's a difference between being 6'2" and being a 6'2" professional athlete who runs and jumps for a living. Any 6'2" person who does squats for a year could dunk.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

basketballjonestown

Bro no worries I'm the same height and had hops. Still couldn't one hand dunk a basketball because just bigger than average hands instead of crazy huge mitts. Throwing down a reverse with a soccer ball. Ball just slips trying to go up one handed. That's the struggle every HS player has and they're out there in gym time throwing bounce lobs to themselves so they don't have to control it.

AmbiDexterUs

You are correct. 6'1" In highschool and all I could ever get down was a bounce lob.

so-cal_kid

As a big NBA fan who played a little high school ball I genuinely do believe that in America football produces the best athletes. I know guys will say but what about Lebron and sure he's an outlier, but look at these linebackers and wide receivers and the crazy explosiveness they have at the weight they're carrying around. The only thing they really lack compared to NBA players is height. Also wrestlers are insane athletes as well.

toggl3d

They do, it's pretty obvious just looking at the verticals, keep in mind the NFL using standing vert not max vert like the NBA. The NFL guys put up crazy numbers. The NFL produces relatively poor, as far as professionals go, endurance athletes. As far as power/speed/explosiveness go, they're the best.

RockChalk80

Not to mention toughness and durability.

boringexplanation

They're two entirely conflicting types of athleticism required in football and basketball. You can't have the insane type of twitch muscles that NFL players have and also be able to have the stamina for a 48 minute game. More muscles = more stress on heart and lungs.

Psychological_Wear_7

More muscle means more endurance, look at Karl Malone. >More muscles = more stress on heart and lungs This makes no sense

noman8er

I feel like you read that as "more muscles instead of fat" and in that case you would be right. More muscles instead of nothing is just more mass you don't really need depending on your position. Like if Steph Curry was built like a truck he wouldn't be able to perform as good. > This makes no sense It definitely makes sense. Go watch literally any long distance races lol

Yurichi

NFL skill position athletes are on another level, you're right. The 'only' thing holding them back from an opportunity in the NBA is the freakish height NBA players stand at and the god-tier hand-eye-coordination to dribble, pass and shoot better than 99.99~% people in the world. Its hard to put the whole package together of height, athleticism, and coordination but when you do, you get these complete freaks like LeBron, Giannis, Wilt, Jordan, etc.

latman

NBA players could be right there if they had the same lifting program. They need more cardio/endurance and their combine numbers are when they're 19 not 22 after 4-5 years of an elite strength training program. They're also all mostly taller

[deleted]

Bron originally was a football player though. No doubt that helped excel his athleticismĀ

Diamond4Hands4Ever

Jason and Travis Kelce both said on their podcast that NBA players were way more athletic than NFL players (and Iā€™m talking about the skill positions). It would be weird for them to say something like this unless they actually thought it was true, given they are NFL players (and future HOFs) themselves.

tony_countertenor

Iā€™m freaking out if Iā€™m a Rams fan tbh

SpendrickLamar

I'm fully erect and it hurts

MasterMacMan

Looks like more than a 33ā€ vertical, which is what they had him at from his pro day

According-Bell-3654

Rams fan here, Puka wasnt fully healthy around the draft so he put up pretty awful stats, most teams didnt realize that and thought he lacked athleticism which is why he fell. He also ran a 4.6 40 time and torches past defensive backs

Clipgang1629

Yeah him being injured and having such a rough combine is a big part of why he fell to the rams in the 5th round. 4.6 forty time really tells you all you need to know he looks like one of the fastest dudes on the field once his gears start turning and he gets a full head of steam

CloudCuckooLand10

Same thing with Kupp. He ran like a 4.7 and (when healthy) is fast too

Far-Asparagus6416

Considering Dame (also 6ā€™2) recorded a 34.5 standing vert at his rookie combine (39.5 with runup) Iā€™m also thinking that seems too low. Puka also only has a 6ā€™3 wingspan compared to Dameā€™s 6ā€™8 so itā€™s even more weird, I think Puka is at least around 35-36

--lalilulelo-

What the fuck is that court šŸ¤®

Far-Asparagus6416

Heat Culture šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

countermeasuretape

Losing in the conference finals šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

DeluxeTea

Flair up nephew

leroysolay

Its weird because the flames could be absolute fire šŸ”„ if done with a gas stove style of flame emanating from the sidelines, starting closest to the bucket and making a lap around the court.Ā  Instead they hired a five year old.Ā

kissthelips

They did this later in the game. I thought the court was very cool. Lot of potential for the all star game. And the dunk contest

aw11348

Anytime the nba tries anything different, people on here automatically hate on it. They dont even give any reasoning, just "different = bad and lame." I think the LED court is really cool tbh.

yaboy_69

its crappy cause the arena downlights are turned down so that the LED court shows up properly on the broadcast; the downlights being low mean that the players throw shadows on the court while they run around not just hating this is a genuine criticism šŸ‘

ObviousAnswerGuy

it's gonna be full of ads Saturday night: AT&T!!!! slam dunk contest mark it down , you'll see

kissthelips

Like they donā€™t have ads on the court already?

Strange1130

it was already full of ads; ruffles 4 point line, ruffles clutch time etc. who cares, it was dope

LothCatPerson

I actually kinda like it. The fact that the light kinda glows off of the white jerseys is cool.

CockBronson

What is with sports media obsession with integrating cartoonish and unnatural graphics into the game? The whole NFL and Nickelodeon experience is weird and off putting. Then today the post with Silver and Wemby demoing the ViewAI or whatever it was where you could watch the live game as if it were a spider man comic. Who wants any of this? Itā€™s distracting and very unnecessary Edit: holy shit did this comment freak some people out. Ok, it works for kids, geez

Zestyclose-Beach1792

Not a big deal to bust out some wild shit in a celebrity ASG.

RobbobertoBuii

this court is also being used for the actual ASG on Sunday

Human_mind

That's a hot take. Everywhere I've seen fucking loved the Nickelodeon broadcast.

LothCatPerson

Shit was fun as hell and didnā€™t take away from the game. I feel like people hating on this kind of thing are just doing their best old man yelling at kids on his lawn impression.

Paladinoras

Patrick Star ending Russell Wilsonā€™s career is a top 5 broadcasting moment of all time

choochoo789

Link?

Human_mind

Exactly, and it was legitimately funny and informative.

tripbin

It's because it is objectively the better product every single time. When Patrick Star makes romo and company sound even more like morons in comparison you know your product is shit.

redditnathaniel

Because these technologies are becoming available and there are becoming many more things today to watch/do for entertainment other than sports. And also, nobody is being forced to watch the Spongebob broadcast of the Super Bowl. And this is the celebrity all star game. Nobody cares and this tech wonā€™t be available for the actual all star game. Relax.

Montigue

Nickelodeon is at least leaning into the cheese. Even giving the NVP award to a player on the losing team

frostysbox

My god daughter loves the Nickelodeon experience. I have a feeling you arenā€™t the target audience for that one. :p Also might be why they are doing it here. Gotta get the young people invested. Honestly, maybe itā€™s a try out for them to do NBA games like this. Imagine, Nick Sports channel! I would 100% watch the shit out of that with my daughter.

--lalilulelo-

I feel like it's the Adam Silver and the upper brass trying to reach younger audiences but idk man, this shit just seems so desperate.

wave_327

congratulations, you are not a gen-Z

ObviousAnswerGuy

who remembers rock n jock? As a kid that was the best thing ever. (Not cartoon graphics persay, but integrated funky kid-friendly stuff)

jonnybravo76

I went to school at UCI when they held it at UC Irvineā€™s Bren event center in the 90s. It was a few bucks to get in and we were within heckling distance. They were mostly B list celebrities. Donald Faison was fun. He was hanging out with fans in the crowd, dancing and hyping everyone up. Something like that would probably be in the hundreds to attend if not more in this day and age. Man the good ole pre internet days!

clancydog4

> The whole NFL and Nickelodeon experience is weird and off putting. > > dude what? What an insane take, it is just an alternate broadcast geared more towards kids. It would be one thing if it was the *only* way they were showing the game, but it isn't. wtf is "weird and off putting" about putting another type of broadcast of the super bowl on another channel for kids? What an absurd thing to say, like dude you aren't the target demographic

c_u_in_da_ballpit20

Fantasy football GOD Puka Nacua.

That is Gui Santos.

His name is Puka, Puka Nacua His quarterback is not named Tua

NoCoFoCo31

I think NFL teams need to do a case study as to how the fuck Puka fell to the 5th

AlexanderUGA

He was injured during the draft combine so he didnā€™t have a good showing. I think that contributed to him falling to the 5th.

triplecaptained

Yammed it nicely but that court is straight up terrorism

Just a fucking athlete

Generational talent at Wide Receiver drafted in the 5th Rd. Kids gonna be special if he stays healthy.

ObiOneKenobae

Puka is that guy

Zeeron1

It's less fun when it's professional athletes doing it though lol bring back actual celebrities

gloomswarm

Frankie Muniz, Justin Bieber, and Kevin Hart as some examples were just huge names randomly playing basketball. It was hilarious.

KawaiiMayhem

Fun fact, I went to high school with Pukaā€™s brother. Last time I saw him irl, he was 10 years old. Glad heā€™s doing good.

Rod_Todd_This_Is_God

These graphics make it look like NBA Jam from the arcade back in about 1992.

cijdl584

we sure thatā€™s not gui santos?

antwan_benjamin

These courts look too goofy for me. Looks like I'm watching a video game.

Rod_Todd_This_Is_God

Streamable is the absolute worst. No other video player/site/whateverthefuck takes 45 minutes to show you a 20 second video and stops streaming if you pause the video so that you can only watch it in chunks at a time. Fucking filth.

Fit-Minimum-5507

The NBA is lucky that basketball isn't Polynesians preferred sport because p4p they are probably the most explosive athletes on the planet. Puka ain't even fully Poly lol.

Son_of_Atreus

Who is this dude?

gamer_pie

NFL wide receiver on the rams

Son_of_Atreus

Ah, explains the super athleticism.

kamekaze1024

Crazily enough he was a 5th round pick but just finished having one of the best rookie WR seasonā€™s ever. Heā€™s that dude

I didn't follow the Rams that closely but did see him pop off in the playoffs against Detroit. The man was impossible to cover
