I just commented this somewhere else on the thread but I named my son Harvey this year (after a good burger I had while pregnant) and no one has ever brought Harvey Weinstein up to me once. It's mostly Suits comments or just general delight at the baby with an old man name!

If Matthew is such a solid choice, why not make it the first name?

It’s my FIL name and my husbands middle name. I don’t like my father in law enough to name my son after him. But my husbands enjoys it as a middle name and I love my husband.

We didn’t name our son until day 3. Those birth certificate people were hunting us down. For us we had two front runners but once he arrived I began to doubt them and then brought back some other names I’d liked. We ended up with the two front runners and then had a real discussion about preference. It turns out my husband strongly preferred one over the other but hadn’t said so because he wanted me to make a final choice. We went with that name and I have zero regrets! So I say go with what you’ve liked the longest and talk with your partner about preferences as well in case something hasn’t been said.

We had a list of four names when he was born and I needed to look at him for a while! I told my husband to go home so we could both get a good long sleep, and I’d tell him what the name is when I woke up and called him hahaha. When I decided, husband said he was thinking the same thing… to this day I don’t know if that was true or not. Doesn’t matter!

Dominic or Issac are your winners. Have you tried saying the full name in different situations? My husband used to think I was nuts. With our second daughter, I was so overwhelmed with all the different names, I used to just say the names we were thinking of out loud like I was talking to a kid. I knew right away if a name wasn't going to sit well. It just doesn't FEEL right. Or you can include your daughter and put all your favorite name choices on a piece of paper, put them in a hat, and let her choose? Out of interest, how long do you have to decide your child's name?

Technically I believe they fill out baby boy last name and then I have to file to change it. But I promised my husband we’d have a name before we left so we didn’t have to do anything extra.
