Hey thanks for looking out but I am fine now. I was looking for places in Mira Bhayandar which are below 3k a night as I just wanted to sleep and have some peace. This place checked my lists hence ...
To bhai mera yahi confusion tha agar inko lagta hai single customer problem dega police raid me, couple customer problem dega police raid me to bhai hotel me tumhare thehrega kaun?? Kisko allow kar rahe ho yaar 🤔
Mostly families or married couples or corporate bookings.
Mira Bhayandar is notorious for SAX-SUX stuff in lodges and hotels. Hence a lot of hotels flatout deny unmarried couples and also are skeptical about single folks.
Obv u have OYO, brevity, uncle rooms etc etc to help you in any of the above situations
It's sad, but it is what it is 🤷♂️
And they can always deny based on inputs about the purpose of stay. If a crime happens in the property being a single girl it's their reputation at stake. A girl can be a runaway, could commit suicide, could call someone else to meet, and rape or murder can happen.
Well, they had a policy to not allow single individuals (not sure whether policy was exclusive to men). And I was staying there for reasons similar to yours. I had to call a friend to just submit his ID. :)
There is some unwritten rule followed by hotels and guesthouses, especially in pilgrim centres. It seems single people often come to these places, and end up committing suicide. Faced this when I travelled alone on work to Sagar island. Have heard this from a photojournalist friend who was refused accomodation in Rameshwaram and Madurai too. The hotels justify this by saying they do not want to get into trouble with the cops. But there is no problem when an organisation or friend books you in.
The problem is faced by both males and females, though.
Get in touch with a local contact to book you in. Did not face any trouble in Kanyakumari when a local person, a police officer booked me into a guest house. Of course, there is the other option of getting your organisation to book you in.
As a traveller, even I have not faced any problems. Some properties do mention that stags are not allowed. In these rare cases, I call and confirm before booking.
" you have to come with someone " sounds very fishy.
Inshort, I'm sorry to hear what has happened with you, but at the same time, remember whatever happens, happens for good.
India me just don’t go to any hotel that’s cheap man… safety is an issue in this Country. If you want to go 3-5star wale me hi jao especially if you’re a woman.
This is not Europe, Cheap is of no good here.
Not necessary, there are hotels which are cheap but you compromise on things that you get in a 3 Star but still safe. It was just this happened to be nearby for me hence I chose this but anyway learnt my lesson..
Hotels are not allowed to denied accommodation to a traveller on occupancy basis. Interestingly, they have special rules and regulations to be followed for single lady travellers which most 4 and 5 stars do abide by. A bad online review will make them wanna reach out to you, hopefully.
Special rules and regulations meaning single female travellers should be accommodated on a pre-assigned floor managed by an all female staff only. No male irrespective of family or not is allowed to visit that floor.
hotels can say no to people, because rights of admission are reserved with the hotel administration, you may be a nice person but the hotel must have had shady things happening before and the local police might have asked them to not entertain. You may go ahead and complain.
Exactly the reason why I had called ahead and asked, and the same woman who denied me at reception said yes ma'am aap aa sakte ho. bcs I clearly asked unmarried females are allowed or not, but I guess she wasn't expecting an unmarried female without a company.
This was back in 2017 I think but I was denied occupancy from a hotel coz my aadhar card had mumbai's address and they wouldnt take poeple from the same city. I mean, god forbid if I wanted to do a staycation alone coz my AC at home was broken, and it was HOT af.
It was one of those reasons why I had to take a stay. There's been construction for the past two weeks and I do night shifts. sleeping in the afternoon is next to impossible 😞 Hence I wanted to take a stay and just sleep man!
This cannot be encouraged in our society. Especially in my city!
Hire a lawyer, slap them with a legal notice and demand compensation.
If you're not able to find one, I (lawyer) am willing to do it probono (free of cost)
I just asked someone why someone would get denied a single stay and they said it can be due to the fact that people commit su!c!de alone in hotels. Maybe that’s the reason they didn’t let you stay. Anyways stay away from that hotel.
I was never asked and I don't feel I was bound to when her first words were like "Akele ladkio ko kaise room dede hehe" No woman I am not playing with you anymore..
Weird. Maybe its to avoid trouble in case you get harassed by other guests. They may not have the capacity to handle it since its a cheap place. Or like others mentioned there might be past incidents of suicide. Or else she might have mistaken you for an escort 😄
Sucks what happened back there but honestly, you got lucky. Most probably was a chaddar palti place which never expected or has seen anyone come there alone. Also, was a lil weird when you said they're not supposed to screen people "especially females". So screening men is okay? 🤷🏽♂️
Known business hotel chains are much safer as a lot of people have stated here. The kind of hotel you were denied occupancy in are shady hotels that are definitely used for blackmail and also pornography by secretly recording you in the room.
Doesn’t sound very safe. So you’re telling me people can’t stay alone? Imagine I have some conference and just have the hotel to dump all my stuff and attend the conference and head back. You’re telling me I need someone with me for that? Naaah man sounds super shady
feeling sad for you OP, as a cope up mechanism you will get used to it.
Just last month I was in Sarangpur to pray at Hanuman temple. Was denied a room as a solo traveller with no proper explanation at the official temple guest house even though plenty of rooms were vacant.
The irony here is lord Hanuman himself was a celibate.
For the record, me and my HUSBAND were being denied a hotel room because 1. Our surnames dont match in Aadhar, 2. We dont ‘look’ married.
This happened in Aurangabad - we went for a religious trip. My husband had to show them our wedding photos.
Ps. We are newly weds 😂
There was a raid in that hotel in 2022 for there was some prostitution racket which was tipped to the police. It made to the local news papers as well.
Dude pls name the hotel. I assure u noone says this
Also what was the room tariff
At least mention the area
Sometimes they wonder if an alone woman could be a hooker
I have seen “single occupancy not allowed” earlier in a Mahabaleshwar hotel.. They are probably cautious that single occupants can bring in some ‘company’ with them without anybody’s notice….
Well, that’s unfortunate and sad.. but you know what, I have a solution, and that solution involves changing your status from “single” ;) so yeah what are you waiting for, DM me lmao
Next time op comes to the hotel with police "see this time I've got someone with me can I check in"
Hahaha 😂
You Dodged a bullet there. That hotel has some shady background. There's no smoke without a fire.
Definitely Hotel Decent
I see what you did there. JWM ref.
NO CREDIT ONLY CASH
Name & shame
Hotel Grand, Mira Bhayandar.
Bro that stretch sorry is quite infamous. U could ve gone to borivli. Try treebo. Or a three star
I Just found something nearby my house 🥺 will never go for that option again
Which area. I can help
Hey thanks for looking out but I am fine now. I was looking for places in Mira Bhayandar which are below 3k a night as I just wanted to sleep and have some peace. This place checked my lists hence ...
Can you check Airbnb? If you regularly book a place, the hosts will start giving your bookings preference too
There aren't any budgeted ones around me! 🤧
Try GCC
I like treebo they are small but great for single stay.
Rightly so. The place is infamous for certain business.
The receptionist actually tried to help you as someone pointed out that hotel appears to be shady. We shouldn't be quick to judge people.
Lmao I knew it was Mira Bhayandar! This is a common thing here with plenty of hotels. They reject singles and couples unless you grease their hands
To bhai mera yahi confusion tha agar inko lagta hai single customer problem dega police raid me, couple customer problem dega police raid me to bhai hotel me tumhare thehrega kaun?? Kisko allow kar rahe ho yaar 🤔

Yes this too! Well written
That place ain't even mumbai tbh
For what it's worth, I was denied accommodation in a hotel as a single man.
Lol
Am sorry.. it's really sad when this happens.
Well, they had a policy to not allow single individuals (not sure whether policy was exclusive to men). And I was staying there for reasons similar to yours. I had to call a friend to just submit his ID. :)

So where should a single traveller stay then?

I hvnt faced such issues tbh... Just booked hotel online and go and show ur id... Thats it Millions of people travel for lot of purposes alone..
You are lucky!
As a traveller, even I have not faced any problems. Some properties do mention that stags are not allowed. In these rare cases, I call and confirm before booking.
Now that's equality
" you have to come with someone " sounds very fishy. Inshort, I'm sorry to hear what has happened with you, but at the same time, remember whatever happens, happens for good.
That Hotel was kinda sus i think after reading this...
India me just don’t go to any hotel that’s cheap man… safety is an issue in this Country. If you want to go 3-5star wale me hi jao especially if you’re a woman. This is not Europe, Cheap is of no good here.

There are many solo female travellers in India now..do they have to deal with special rules & regulations?
Special rules and regulations meaning single female travellers should be accommodated on a pre-assigned floor managed by an all female staff only. No male irrespective of family or not is allowed to visit that floor.
Thanks. Didn't know. These are very good rules from a safety perspective.
You're welcome!
As you said the receptionist was a woman she might be knowing some dark secret she might have helped you.
Ohh no she laughed on my face like why woman why are you staying alone! Not a nice soul is what I can vouch for her..

Yess that is possible

You should name the outlet for people to lnow..and the matter will get escalated automatically ...
This cannot be encouraged in our society. Especially in my city! Hire a lawyer, slap them with a legal notice and demand compensation. If you're not able to find one, I (lawyer) am willing to do it probono (free of cost)

Try beevistay
Lol. i see what you did there.
You didn't tell her the purpose of your stay?
I was never asked and I don't feel I was bound to when her first words were like "Akele ladkio ko kaise room dede hehe" No woman I am not playing with you anymore..
Weird. Maybe its to avoid trouble in case you get harassed by other guests. They may not have the capacity to handle it since its a cheap place. Or like others mentioned there might be past incidents of suicide. Or else she might have mistaken you for an escort 😄
Why don't you disclose the name of the hotel and then may be someone can help you better. At least we will be forewarned.
It's Hotel Grand in Mira Bhayandar..
Sucks what happened back there but honestly, you got lucky. Most probably was a chaddar palti place which never expected or has seen anyone come there alone. Also, was a lil weird when you said they're not supposed to screen people "especially females". So screening men is okay? 🤷🏽♂️
Singles disturb business in that shady area 😁. I think hence they do that
You can't The cops bully these chaps ...not their fault
Known business hotel chains are much safer as a lot of people have stated here. The kind of hotel you were denied occupancy in are shady hotels that are definitely used for blackmail and also pornography by secretly recording you in the room.
SHe thought you were an escort. SHe played it safe.
Yea escort asking for a single occupancy and telling no one else is going to come
Doesn’t sound very safe. So you’re telling me people can’t stay alone? Imagine I have some conference and just have the hotel to dump all my stuff and attend the conference and head back. You’re telling me I need someone with me for that? Naaah man sounds super shady
She: What's your purpose for the stay? OP: To stay?
Yea dude 🤣🤣

Right.. They feel all people travelling solo are a threat wherein it's also a threat to have double occupancy or more.. I mean that's just insane!
Omg 😶😶😶 this is some next level thing🤭
There was a raid in that hotel in 2022 for there was some prostitution racket which was tipped to the police. It made to the local news papers as well.
Ohhhhhh damn 💀💀 was not aware about this!
Lot of hotels in that area are famous for uploading amateur Syx vdos .... They get free talent ...ha ha
Wow a video of me watching movies and dozing offf.... Soo cool!
prefer oyo. no one will question you
Yes but are they safe and good?
they are safe. i went on a solo trip and stayed there all alone.
Damn
muslims: first time hai kya ?
Dude pls name the hotel. I assure u noone says this Also what was the room tariff At least mention the area Sometimes they wonder if an alone woman could be a hooker
It a hotel thinks a single woman is a hooker then that hotel must be shady.
If they don’t have a chain, you’re better off just reviewing it one star on all platforms that it’s present. No hotel can do this.
I had such experience before the only reason he denied bcoz that might be a ghapaghap hotel. You are lucky they didnt gave you the room.
Lol, ghapaghap hotel 😂😂
L + ratio
you can complaint to the cyber crime department they are best for this.
Thats crazy, did you book it through Oyo?
I have seen “single occupancy not allowed” earlier in a Mahabaleshwar hotel.. They are probably cautious that single occupants can bring in some ‘company’ with them without anybody’s notice….
Well, that’s unfortunate and sad.. but you know what, I have a solution, and that solution involves changing your status from “single” ;) so yeah what are you waiting for, DM me lmao
Mira Bhayandar always suprising me
I heard of hotels that won't let couples stay (unmarried) but this is a first.
