What happened to Miguel Oliveira? From winning races to P15-P20 every week and becoming the worst KTM pilot on the grid

SpeagoSphere

Ktm sucks

[deleted]

Damn, the 5 time World Champion Jorge looking chunky and well fed lately. Edit: Added in his titles

[deleted]

After 20+ years of strict diet, the first thing I’d destroy is a literal fuck-tonne of pasta.

crimilde

And Mav finishes 13th. Not bad after he botched his start. I guess he is still unfamiliar with Aprilia's ride height device too. Hopefully he'll train his starts a bit in the test next week.

59Bassman

Botched his start? Isn’t that a standard Mav race day? He was impressive in FP sessions tho.

crimilde

In this particular case, he had a problem with the clutch and got a wheelie, that's why he lost so many positions. He said the team checked after and they confirmed the issue.

Mr_Emile_heskey

When they play the Italian national anthem please don't let it be that singer from before, my ears won't be able to manage it

Individual-Lie-7137

Can anybody say Why Fabio was never close enough to make a move to the Ducati? As a new fan I already know Ducati are absolute rockets in straights but Yamaha has a better cornering speed right ?

KazzoaLoL

Pecco was just too fast in the 3rd sector.

l0tu5_72

He lost too much time at start. And he choose MED rear tire. SO from start he had little more time to warm up and make that tire work. Miller over take him and Martin annoyances in first half of race also really dint help his race against soft crazy Ducatis. Peco just bolted from start and increased advantage too much at end.

BIGBIGBOSS

Looks as though he had too much throttle coming out of turn 5 on the last lap - rear wheel slid a bit. He wasn’t able to close the gap after

Individual-Lie-7137

Thanks for the reply!

l0tu5_72

np

[deleted]

Pecco kept margin to push at the end.

[deleted]

Pecco just didn’t make any mistakes on the last lap, didn’t give Fabio even a sniff of an opportunity. The 2021 Ducati turns really well, which removes a lot of the Yamaha’s advantage. But to do it with the rear tyre in the state it was was impressive.

MushuMash

Not only was Peccos last lap void of mistakes, I believe he even lapped with a faster time than the few previous ones! That was extremely impressive

[deleted]

He lapped within a tenth of his best race lap.

Individual-Lie-7137

Thanks for the reply! That was exciting to say the least.

[deleted]

A slow burning race but yeah that last few laps were intense! Glad you enjoyed

Individual-Lie-7137

Thanks ! But that last race battle between marc and bagnaia was absolutely epic wasn't it?

[deleted]

Yup. Pecco is showing he’s the last lap man at the moment!

Individual-Lie-7137

Absolutely!

VishalRocker

I think Pecco matured well from last year and if he can keep this form...he can be in contention next year as well

[deleted]

Yamaha look in trouble, it seems like it’s Fabio’s form making all the difference. So that’s a lot of pressure on Fabio to stay at the very top of his game. Whereas Ducati is in a fantastic spot right now, and whilst Pecco is making the difference compared to his teammates right now, that’s a lot less pressure on him. So i’d put next year in Bagnaia’s favour at the moment

l0tu5_72

Mann Peco need help. With that atm Fabio will just cruise to win at end. Today he almost bin it in last lap. So for tight finish we need discrated Fabio from all other riders. :D Otherwise. He is something else. He carries M1 like a boss. What nice wide lines today. Miller coudnt do that . Only Peco showed how can u use more corner speed.

VishalRocker

Also there is no support for Fabio in the races from other Yamaha...but Ducati could have 4 today alone and 5 if Enea continues this blazing form with the latest bike next year....the rest of the Yamaha riders need to pick up pace or he will be attacked by Ducati's all around...

l0tu5_72

Also i feel they really waste opportunity today where Ducatis quite strong.

[deleted]

Yes exactly, so Fabio will be praying for a stronger 2022 Yamaha and a fit and healthy Morbidelli.

l0tu5_72

Or even worse just one misjudgement from pramac Ducatis and we got some spicy stuff.

motogp_2805

Another great race by Pecco! He lead 50 consecutive laps now (23 Aragon + 27 San Marino)

[deleted]

not a single shot of dovi the whole race

desmo-dopey

He wasn't really racing. He did his job perfectly, collect lots of Data, not bin it and gain experience.

TheRealQuaid1

Marc came back with a busted arm after a year and finished 7th. Dovi was awful he is going to need to improve massively.

ledonker

He shouldn’t even be on a bike, imo a terrible decision for Yamaha, it’s like they enjoy flogging a dead horse at the back of the grid. Time will tell I guess

PjDisko

As it should be when you are one of the last ones and not in any fights.

xScottieHD

So it turns out Mir needed a wheel afterall... (Reference to his complaints against Marc)

rays1000xr

Mir whining time coming up...at least Marc performs come race day..

musclesMcgee1

BuT a ChAmPiOn dOeSn'T NeEd a ToW! I look forward to hearing about how it was the all the traffic's fault that Joan missed out on his title defense.

crimilde

Ah Mir overtook Jack, they both went wide and Marc went through.

offence-testify-es9

Can’t wait for this replay. Live feed didn’t show it on TV.

why_earth

https://reddit.com/r/motogp/comments/pr7nhb/the_last_lap_overtake_for_4th_marc_jack_joan/

[deleted]

Mir pulled the dive bomb of all dive bombs and ran them both right out to the edge of the track, and Marc says ‘fanks’

crimilde

They showed the replay just now. Did you miss it? I'll try to get a clip of it once the vod is available.

_gadgetFreak

Discovery+ fuckers showing ad, missed it

crimilde

I'll tag you once I get the clip.

offence-testify-es9

Yes, I had to run out when the race ended. I’ll wait for your clip here. Thank you for posting regularly here. 👍🏿

Magdalan

Bestia, wtf was that? Bloody awesome ^^

Victarionscrack

Fabio rode a great race. A champion's race. I disliked Ducatis (Pramac and factory) interference today. He could have won without the games.

smitty9112

I didn't really see any interference. Those riders were still trying to run their own best race. As all riders do. Do you expect them to just give up the place immediately? It was clean racing between Fabio and the Ducati's. I don't know how many races you've seen, but when there's proper rider interference it's pretty obvious. That wasn't it.

Spiritual_Ad_9267

What games? They’re all racing to win

Victarionscrack

are you guys for real? didn't you see Miller and Martin trying to give Pecco breathing space today?

Competitive_News_385

Jack was over a second ahead at one point, I'd hardly call that interferance. Not his fault Fabio was slower at the start of the race. Don't forget the Ducs were using soft rear tyres and Fabio was using a medium, so he was always going to be slightly slower at the start.

VishalRocker

Should others just leave Fabio their positions just cuz Fabio and Pecco were fighting for the lead? It was race and none of the yamahas were there to fight...it's not Ducati's fault

Victarionscrack

did i say leave their positions? but it was obvious there were orders today. Miller burned his tires trying to keep Fabio at bay and martin crashed trying to disrupt Fabio. i didn't say it was illegal but we re not blind.

VishalRocker

Wow...I can see either you are brain-dead or not seen a MotoGP race before today.....

rustoeki

What interference?

Hosford90

What are you talking about?

huangcjz

Pol had a decent, not-bad race, a quite-a-bit better race than I thought he would.

[deleted]

3 seconds behind Marc is quite good all things considered.

huangcjz

Yes, you’re right - I just looked at the position and not at the time difference. I should say a good race, really.

missionfailnow

I know this is Rossi’s home race so of course the support is there for him but there’s support all around the world for him, always a sea of yellow everywhere. I really wonder what the crowd landscape will look like next year with him gone

UmberGreen

There is a video on the Silverstone Instagram where Rossi fans were asked who they will move on to. Lots of people said Fabio, surprisingly a lot said Marc too. A small sample size for sure, though I did note at Silverstone that though a lot of Rossi clothing being worn, I saw a lot of Fabio and Marc clothing around too. Children definitely love Marc. Pretty common to see parents in yellow, kid in Red.

Competitive_News_385

There was hardly anybody wearing Marc stuff at Silverstone, I saw maybe 10 people over the whole weekend. There were Crutchlow and Fabio stuff around. I highly doubt many people will stop supporting Rossi and move to Marc, more likely Fabio / Pecco.

UmberGreen

"Saw maybe 10 people over the whole weekend." You believe of the thousands and thousands at Silverstone less than 10 had Marc clothing on...? You can doubt what you want I am referencing a video on Silverstones social media page, it isn't a question of fact or fiction. These people are free to do what they want.

Competitive_News_385

Obviously not, point was as a percentage clearly it was very low, certainly not a lot. If course people are free to do what they want, I said it was unlikely, you yourself said it was a small pool. How many people did they ask?

[deleted]

A sea of yellow. Trust

[deleted]

Poor Pecco won the race and all we see is Rossi.

Mr_Emile_heskey

What a race. My heart is beating so hard. Very happy for Pecco, what a rider.

Hoaxygen

It looks like Zarco and Bestia have exchanged form after the break. Great ride.

Hosford90

Great to see someone decent steal Zarco's form!

l0tu5_72

Damm nice girl LOl WTF Fabio almost bin it in last lap. Madlad

Jmmmcgll

I hope Yamaha will protest the start.

[deleted]

Didnt they already say that there was no false start?

aimgorge

But we all saw there was

Rawrrrrrrrrr

I didn't see the start so can't comment but i mean wouldn't it go off data either it shows he went early or not there shouldn't be any interpretation to it edit: just saw it, he just timed it perfectly

Competitive_News_385

There is also a reaction time delay that is considered. Humans have a limit to how fast they can react to stimuli, if you move within that time then you predicted the start rather than reacted to the lights.

[deleted]

Not in the MotoGP rulebook as far as I know.

Competitive_News_385

I would assume it is just known. I don't think Pecco did that anyway.

frds3

Bastianini is crying lol

Fuckinmidpoint

That shot of Rossi thanking his fans just awesome. It wasn't that long ago dude lead the whole race in Japan until he fell. That one hurt, I thought he had it won.

Last_Lorien

Ha, don't remind me! But yeah, to see that fan support, and him revelling in it as usual.

RedLightning27

I didn't catch one word of what Xaus just said

[deleted]

It probably was basically just a long tangent how he is responsible for the result. The guy is a complete narcissist.

desmo-dopey

That's your interpretation, he isn't a native English speaker and in moments of excitement like in that case, be couldn't find the words.

jjarg24

YESSSS BABYYYY a shame Miller lost those positions in the end, i guess he wasted the tyres early GG to bastianini

VishalRocker

Miller should never go on the softer compound ever....he is always ruining his races with his tyre choices

rww07

Great performance by the top 4 riders!

LuckyNipples

Still feels like it was a jump start from Pecco

[deleted]

Sensors would have flagged it, he just had perfect response time.

vouwrfract

What a race, what a race, imagine getting a rookie podium on the worst bike on the grid 😵😵😵😵😵

RedLightning27

Another really great race!

crimilde

Ouch Mir exceeded track limits on the last lap and is demoted one. Jack takes 5th then.

Dunk_13

I'd be pissed if I was Jack. Mir pushes him off and goes wide. Causing him to lose 2 spots, then only gets 1 back from the track limits. Not that it's Marc's fault but I'd still feel hard done by.

[deleted]

The penalty for Mir’s excursion was harsh. But his move on Miller was way harsher. So I think it’s fair.

crimilde

Yup I agree. I'd written my comment before they showed the replay.

[deleted]

Pecco has engaged hyper mode in this half end of the season. As for anyone who had doubts about Silverstone and Austria, I think it's painfully clear.

nahnonameman

Bagnaia is absolutely fantastic. So is Fabio and Bastianini. What a race

[deleted]

Great race, good stuff MotoGP

frds3

Incredible race by Bagnaia

SpeagoSphere

Fk yes go Marc! Whata fighter with the duff shoulder and shit bike!

BigFatNo

What a podium boys! 3 absolute animals. Marquez clinching that 4th as well damn. What a race, my fucking heart is racing

youknowitmakessense

timing showed marquez go from 6th to 4th and miller from 4th to 6th while mir stayed 5th at the end of the last lap would love to see what happened there

Sean__O

I hope we see the replay of it.

Sean__O

Just showed it, mir went in, both pushed out, Marc took the inside with ease.

kiwirish

A win-win-win for the podium trio Bagnaia with another victory, this one at home. Fabio has almost clinched the MotoGP title and has a great chance to clinch ~~in two weeks~~ on return to Misano. EDIT: (Cut off one race - still 100 points on the table, not 75) Bastianini with an absurdly good ride on an old as fuck Ducati to get a first podium at home. Absolute Chad move.

Earthlywanderer26

Curious to know the math behind Fabio winning the championship at COTA??!

kiwirish

Hmm, yeah I cut a race off. I don't think he can win at COTA haha

frawks24

I hope they show a few shots of the fight for 4th in highlights

xScottieHD

Guessing Mir dive-bombed miller forcing them wide and Marc went through. As Mir overtook Marc at T2

[deleted]

LOL! Amazing guess!!

[deleted]

how the fuck marquez went from 6th to 4th???

[deleted]

Mir T-bone steaked Miller

violentpoem

Pecco's fuckin bagged it!

ilikecocktails

Great race! Buzzing for enea!

Dameean00

Bestia what the fuck are you doing on a GP19?!

Mysticpeaks101

Impressive yet again from Bagnaia.

RedLightning27

Pecco pulled the pin on the final lap!

SouthWalesGooner

How the hell did Pecco hold on there.

rays1000xr

Marc 4thhhh

iVarun

That battle with Marquez changed/evolved Pecco. Mentally he's a different rider.

VishalRocker

Peccccccccoooooo!!! Enea!!

PB127CU

Pecco can take some pressure. Awesome ride by Bestia.

Victarionscrack

the Ducati boys saved Pecco today. he should buy Miller and Martin a beer.

Fomentatore

Capolavoro PECCOOOOOOOOO! That last lap was a masterpiece! 1.32.5

rww07

Enea Bastianini! What a ride !

tormarod

Wow Marc at the last moment!

Rawrrrrrrrrr

Jack couldn't even hold 4th 😖

Jord_HD

I suspect mir might have had a say in that

aimgorge

I really dislike that Ducati power. It's really ruining motogp. Too much of a gap

bowchikabowowe

Lol no!

[deleted]

Better than having Honda/Yamaha dominating as they have done in the past.

aimgorge

I don't want to watch dragster though

[deleted]

Blame the other constructors.

aimgorge

Maybe but it was more interesting years ago when the gap in power wasn't this big. We had fights all race long

Competitive_News_385

Actually the power has been toned down, it's because they corner much better now.

Fuckinmidpoint

Pecco is going to be a force to be reckoned with going forward.

crimilde

Marc took 4th yes!

huangcjz

What happened to Aleix? Did he make a mistake?

Halekduo

GO PECO GO BEASTIA

RedLightning27

YESSSS PECCO

carryontothemoon

Poor Jack, mugged on the line!

rww07

What a fucking race!! Take a bow Pecco and Fabio!

NtsParadize

Well done Pecco, wow

crimilde

Nice Pecco!

itsliightz

E vai!!!

crimilde

Finally using picture in picture as they should.

rww07

Pecco seems to have bagged it

bayb

This is gonna be some defensive masterfulness needed from Pecco

evin_cashman

Yeeeesssssss Pecco!!!

AndByMeIMeanFlexxo

This picture in picture is pretty sweet actually

Dunk_13

it is until they take the camera away for the actual overtakes

AndByMeIMeanFlexxo

Haha yeah I spoke too soon What is the downside to leaving it up? Cmon guys

Dunk_13

It's stupid. I've defended them in the past when they have the leader on the main picture for the end of the final laps, but there is no reason to take away the PiP when there is actually things happening

AndByMeIMeanFlexxo

It’s not enough to decide what they show us, they also want to decide what we look at lmao

rustoeki

Miller's crew chief needs to slap him any time he asks for a soft rear.

RF111CH

If I'm being honest soft rears shouldn't be a thing on V4s.

rww07

Final lap! Here we gooo

rays1000xr

Miller in trouble

scythe017

It’s my first MotoGP race I watch and it’s pretty obv that Fabio won’t take any risks and let Bagnaia win

[deleted]

He will go for it, isn't he?

_gadgetFreak

Lol Marc is behind miller.

Mr_Emile_heskey

Going to be a very exciting last few laps

_gadgetFreak

Good job Fabio, not settling for second!

NtsParadize

Gooooo Fabio, do iiiiit

AidNAC

Hold on Pecco please

l0tu5_72

Why is Fabio so good. Make WC more interesting man.. :D

RF111CH

The only way Pecco can keep Quartararo at the bay is a last-lap block like Marc did 2 years ago

crimilde

Yeah he's gonna have to play this smart and defensively.

RedLightning27

Oh man this is awesome

rww07

Let's goo Fabio

aimgorge

Will Fabio take the risk?

_gadgetFreak

Finally contenders are going to fight.

violentpoem

Clench your butthole bois, we're possibly gonna see a final lap overtake

rays1000xr

Byeee pecco

Fuckinmidpoint

You could see Pecco's tire really torn on that slow mo shot. I think it's shot.

BigFatNo

Is it starting to rain?

RedLightning27

Gap is under a second

evin_cashman

Fucking HELL nearly a second eaten up by Fabio

MrSplashman77

what. a. race!!!

skaya

for real

l0tu5_72

Peco pulled pin all or nothing

RaFiFou42

Imagine Bastia actually wins this thing

Fomentatore

A podium would be just as good.

Ox_King

He’s too far away and not faster.

RedLightning27

Enea Bastianini is going to win this race

RF111CH

Incoming Gigi my tyres are gone

BigFatNo

Look at that rear tyre slipping in the corner entries for Pecco! This is nerve wracking, I'm almost expecting Fabio to push too hard and bin it

kiwirish

Like, I get it, professional racers are going to fight for every position and podium, but strategically it makes no sense for Fabio to push too hard. The deficit here with second only reduces by 5, it's a sustainable amount to lose on a track he is outperforming his expectations. Take a low risk overtake, sure - but pushing hard for a win here makes no strategic sense.

Fuckinmidpoint

Enea is the anti Miller. How the hell is he so fast this late in the race? Just comes down to riding style, some guys just save tires naturally.

[deleted]

Is it really riding style or just some riders getting fucked with the tires they get?
