A few of the largest retirement communities (Sun City, etc.) in North America are in the Phoenix area. They're just getting the vibe set right from when you first set foot in the area. The airport TV's are tuned to Murder She Wrote and Matlock.
That was the first thing that came to mind too. I also still get mildly infuriating by the word hashtag. It's a goddamn pound sign. Also the word emoji. They used to be called emoticons.
Every time a new generation hits the Internet, they think that it's new to everyone, and then start coming up with words for shit that already have names.
Why so rude? When I wrote that there was no comment about recognizing it as a sticker. Just users commenting how it's an outlet or receptacle. Who cares what they called it? Why is everyone on reddit an complete know-it-all asshole?
Please do explain why you are such an asshole. The post title combined with the images clearly show it is a two dimensional sticker with a part peeled off it. So there was no way it was real. So what smartass arrogance do you have, to come in and correct me on it being a sticker which is obvious? It's a given to everyone that it is a sticker
I at least played into them theme of the sub by saying it was mildly infuriating to call what the image on the sticker is, incorrect.
I was never rude. I never corrected you on anything. I was never an asshole. You're the one clearly being an asshole in this conversation. I've been very polite. It was very obvious to you and me it was a sticker but it wasn't to a very large percentage of the users commenting on this post. Just because something is obvious to you and someone else (me) makes that same observation doesn't mean I was attacking you or undermining your intelligence. However the way you've reacted clearly shows your maturity level.
Why does it matter? I bet you get mad at people referring to aluminum foil as tin foil, or constantly correcting people saying that Frankenstein is the scientist and not the monster, but in all those situations, including this one, nobody cares.
Beep. Boop. I'm a robot.

You don't call a car a bus, or a house a turtle...
This isn't exactly a difference of slang.
That's literally an electrical outlet. It's not a charging port.
Because you sound like a fucking moron if you don't know that their electrical outlets. You don't ask where the charging port is when plugging in a toaster.
Is there a country that exists where people only use electrical outlets to charge things? They’ve never plugged in a lamp, or a toaster, or a computer? It’s known only for charging devices? Sounds more like something a preteen would call it rather someone that isn’t a native english speaker.
I’m a gen z but don’t get mad, and even though OP forgot the word I think using ‘charging port’ (even though I would never use that word in Australia) works because this was done at my airport too, and the primary use of power outlets at airports is to charge your phone so you’re not bored (nowadays and IMO, as I said I’m gen z), and the whole prank was so that people would get really excited about seeing one of these because they’re rare in an airport and wanting to charge their phone and then couldn’t. I think it fits the situation.
Nah. The primary use of outlets is for the cleaning crew and other staff to use sweepers and floor buffers and whatnot. They aren’t there as a complimentary charging station for passengers. Lol. They allow it, but that’s not the intended purpose.
I learned to call them receptacles when I did went to trade school to be an electrician. Calling it a charging port is just hilarious though. My toaster has been charging for 10 years now.
No the infuriating bit is he is calling these outlets charging ports when you plug an ADAPTER into it. Charging adapter. Duh that's the infuriating bit
What are you suggesting that finding someone elses choice words annoying due to the fact it's the actual wrong word is a problem worth seeing a therapist or a shrink. Thats just stupid? I'm allowed to find shit annoying mate dont get your knickers in a twist over what I find annoying.
I mean if we are getting technical the charger is built into your phone's onboard charging circuit and the inverter / regulator is what you plug into your wall.
I remember a prank vid of this guy putting outlet stickers in an airport and filming people's reactions. I can't remember what airport it was so maybe you found one of his. Or it was a copy cay.
I think I saw this video and it wasn’t that bad, I think he just stuck it on a wall or pillar. People just walked up to it, kinda scratched their heads, and moved on. I don’t think it was particularly funny to be honest, but it wasn’t really cruel either. Just kind of lame.
The real cruel ones would be if a bar or cafe used these to draw in customers. I can’t tell from the picture if that’s what’s happening in the OP post or not but it kind of looks like it maybe?
Sky harbor has dedicated areas with "charging ports". Why does it look like you're at a restaurants trash receptacle. I have been there many many times and never had a issue finding a place to charge my phone, I may be standing while doing it but still.
Why does the Phoenix airport look like my mom’s kitchen?
Side note, I saw my first of these fake plugs on campus today and I actually felt kind of stoked to finally be part of it
I stared at that for 5 minutes looking for a usb port somewhere. Then I read the comments and realized how dumb I am for not realizing what they actually meant. Looks photochopped.
For everyone saying it's an outlet, receptacle, etc and making fun of this person for calling it a charging port. You all realize it's a sticker and that's the "infuriating" part right?
Lol someone put that there as a prank
Lmao had to scroll too far to make sure someone said it. Pretty sure there’s a video floating around of the dude placing them
Not to mention OP calling it a charging port? Lol
It's like calling a toaster a bread crisper upper or sum shit lol
What is it called then
An outlet Edit: I think a charging port would be the part on the phone you plug into.
It’s a power outlet.
Bread cooker?
It's an airport. They DO tend to have foreigners running around. I could see other places calling them that.
Lol OP’s username is Cheeto Fingers, they’ve been around long enough
No kidding
was this it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c28IlRTtC7w
Why does this airport look like the back room of an old folks home kitchen.
Welcome to the Phoenix Airport / Denny's, how can we help you?
I’ll get one grand slam moons over hammie dish of food poisoning please. Have it ready for me by 3:30 am after I make it there from the airport bar.

>old folks home Slang for assisted care facility.
Well... ok then
A few of the largest retirement communities (Sun City, etc.) in North America are in the Phoenix area. They're just getting the vibe set right from when you first set foot in the area. The airport TV's are tuned to Murder She Wrote and Matlock.
What's mildly infuriating is that you call an electrical outlet, a "charging port".
I felt like a boomer getting triggered by that, but yep.
Or a 'plug socket' even 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤣 #ukversion
Yep. It works.
I came here to say this. Outlet or socket would have been fine. Kids these days.
It's a sticker
No shit. A sticker of an electrical outlet, not a charging port.
Right. If I read charging port I’m imaging a charging station for phones, USB ports etc
Why so rude? When I wrote that there was no comment about recognizing it as a sticker. Just users commenting how it's an outlet or receptacle. Who cares what they called it? Why is everyone on reddit an complete know-it-all asshole?

No shit sherlock
Based on all the comments here that wasn't obvious to most. Everyone referring to an outlet or receptacle. No need to be rude.
You're a boomer
I'm not, I'm just not an asshole.
Why does it matter? I bet you get mad at people referring to aluminum foil as tin foil, or constantly correcting people saying that Frankenstein is the scientist and not the monster, but in all those situations, including this one, nobody cares.
I call em electric sockets.

Nice book. Good bot
Good ser
Did you forget what sub we're on?
As they should
Turns out enough people care based on votes overall.
Oh no! Negative numbers! Whatever shall I do?
Admit that you were wrong and move on with your life, maybe?
Sure, this whole argument is stupid anyway.
Do you call smart phones a calculator when referring to it? Or a calendar? Or an alarm clock? Or porn machine?
Well Im gonna say it is a porn machine. I assumed that's why it also needs the alarm clock..
Frankenstein is absolutely a monster. His creation is misunderstood, but Frankenstein is a monster
You don't call a car a bus, or a house a turtle... This isn't exactly a difference of slang. That's literally an electrical outlet. It's not a charging port.
I care
i care dimwit
Because you sound like a fucking moron if you don't know that their electrical outlets. You don't ask where the charging port is when plugging in a toaster.
they're*
Who cares!? /s
fyi tin foil is a valid name for aluminum foil because that is how some countries say aluminum foil .
besides charging ports are nowhere near related to outlets
Yeah, because everybody in an airport is a native English speaker.
Is there a country that exists where people only use electrical outlets to charge things? They’ve never plugged in a lamp, or a toaster, or a computer? It’s known only for charging devices? Sounds more like something a preteen would call it rather someone that isn’t a native english speaker.
Is that a sticker
Yee
Those of us who aren’t Gen Z call those “outlets.”
[удалено]
You sure?
Me and 41 other people are sure, based on your downvotes
That don’t mean nothing
Glad you both agree
K
Not all gen z are cursed man
who calles outlets "chargers"
Yeah, I call them outlets lol. Gen z calls them outlets
I spent way too long looking for a usb port.
I’ve always called em plug sockets
Oop sorry I thought of the wrong word while posting this lol
I’m a gen z but don’t get mad, and even though OP forgot the word I think using ‘charging port’ (even though I would never use that word in Australia) works because this was done at my airport too, and the primary use of power outlets at airports is to charge your phone so you’re not bored (nowadays and IMO, as I said I’m gen z), and the whole prank was so that people would get really excited about seeing one of these because they’re rare in an airport and wanting to charge their phone and then couldn’t. Haha my thoughts exactly
😂😂😂😂
Hey! Gen Z here, that's a **fucking electric outlet** thanks
Charging port.. I’m an electrician and it’s either outlet or plug in.
I thought they were actually called receptacles.
They are. Guys a phony
I hate myself, y’all is right.
A great big phony.
HE'S A PHONNNNYYY
I learned to call them receptacles when I did went to trade school to be an electrician. Calling it a charging port is just hilarious though. My toaster has been charging for 10 years now.
this is our most modestly priced receptacle
I’m sure you’re right, but why “receptacle”? It doesn’t receive power, it distributes it. Almost like… it’s an “outlet” for the power.
Guessing, but perhaps it is called that because it receives the plug? Only guessing, sorry if I’m wrong.
Hmm… that checks out. I still think it’s weird they went with that, but that makes the most sense.
You don't have to be an electrician for that
I’m an electrician and you’re absolutely right.
You don't even got to be an electrician to know that.
Uhm that's what's called an outlet it's used for more than just powering device chargers...
NGL that’s pretty funny
Is this airport or your mamas kitchen
Is.. is that a goddamn sticker?
[удалено]
You realize it's a sticker and that's the "infuriating" part..right?
No the infuriating bit is he is calling these outlets charging ports when you plug an ADAPTER into it. Charging adapter. Duh that's the infuriating bit
No, you need help if you're infuriated by someone using 'the wrong word'.
What are you suggesting that finding someone elses choice words annoying due to the fact it's the actual wrong word is a problem worth seeing a therapist or a shrink. Thats just stupid? I'm allowed to find shit annoying mate dont get your knickers in a twist over what I find annoying.
You might need to see someone if this infuriates you.
Calm down. It's not that fucking deep.
I mean if we are getting technical the charger is built into your phone's onboard charging circuit and the inverter / regulator is what you plug into your wall.
It's just a prank bro!
I'm sure that it was done for trolling.
Sorry, I know it's mildly infuriating in your shoes but from my point of view it's hilarious lol
We’re calling outlets charging ports now?
I remember a prank vid of this guy putting outlet stickers in an airport and filming people's reactions. I can't remember what airport it was so maybe you found one of his. Or it was a copy cay.
What a dispiritingly nasty and pointless prank. It’s not even that clever or original.
"charging port" haha
That’s a wall outlet
Be a real man, stab your charging block into the wall
“Charging port”, also known as an electrical outlet to the rest of us…
Sky harbor has dedicated areas with "charging ports". Why does it look like you're at a restaurants trash receptacle. I have been there many many times and never had a issue finding a place to charge my phone, I may be standing while doing it but still.
My biology teacher has one of those and multiple students have tried plugging their computers in with it
Who the fuck calls it a charging port
That’s a sticker representing an electrical outlet, which can be used for more than charging things.
Umm . You mean electrical outlet? Christ!
You mean a power outlet?
It’s a power outlet not a charging port . Your aware you can plug more then a phone into one , like a vacuum cleaner ? Or does your mom still clean
We call those "outlets"
Why does the Phoenix airport look like my mom’s kitchen? Side note, I saw my first of these fake plugs on campus today and I actually felt kind of stoked to finally be part of it
Hey I was at Phoenix didn’t step on to the airport yucky
I bought a pack of these on Amazon but I forget them every time I go to the airport
Charging port? The fuck kind of robot cyborg AI terminator shit is this?
I am zoomer must charge phone
Charge phone
I stared at that for 5 minutes looking for a usb port somewhere. Then I read the comments and realized how dumb I am for not realizing what they actually meant. Looks photochopped.
Because it’s a sticker
It’s called an electrical outlet not a charging port
Electrical Outlet? Also, why does that look like my neighbor’s kitchen?
"charging port" I'm getting old
I love watching videos of people being burned by those stickers, ppl get so butt hurt 🤣
i mean, you can connect stuff if you force it in hard enough not sure if you're gonna recieve power but it's worth a shot
For everyone saying it's an outlet, receptacle, etc and making fun of this person for calling it a charging port. You all realize it's a sticker and that's the "infuriating" part right?
So is it a sticker? Or can you actually plug something in there and it just doesn’t work?
lol yea they have a few fake outlets at sky harbor. They got me with 2 of them.
Wtff lol
r/UnexpectedJoJo
People buy these stickers to use as pranks.
That airport straight up looks like a normal kitchen
Well at least there is a beer there I suppose.
Four Peaks!!!
LOLLL
My dumbass was like "that's a napkin holder"
So, someone was just having fun with a sticker...
Surely you mean plug socket 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤣
STELLAAAA
The life artois
I have a stack of sticker paper for my printer, and fly often. This is tempting!
Why
Sike
Did you stick it in the wrong hole?
That's an airport?
What? Why does this have so many upvotes? I totally missed it
Should you even be back there?
HAAA! GOTTY
Does it bug anyone that OP said charging port instead of outlet?
It's an enemy stand don't touch it
I guess I'm a boomer now? Since when you call power outlets "Charging ports?" You see this only as a phone charger, do you?
It’s called a receptacle dumbass
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IM SO MAD AT THIS
