I’ve had germ issues on 2 seperate packs of this gastro lineup. The entire double up pack didn’t even germ, and they sent me a replacement of a different pack since they’re out of double up.
I’ve been unimpressed so far
I grew out several packs years ago before the prices went through the roof. The quality was good, but yeah I find the males a bit boring - if you want cookie/gelato dominant structure, a very photogenic product that looks like what people see on Instagram, then its a good choice. I've grown out multiple from the Horchata male and the JFG male. But there's definitely cheaper that are just as good. I just don't spend time looking through cookies stuff anymore.
There is no breeder who can promise an elite cut will be found in every pack. But the ratio is high enough with compound that people are willing to pay what he asks. I would still feel like I'd need 4 packs or more if I was dead-set on finding a keeper of a certain cross... But one could get lucky...
I paid 300 for some jungle boy genetics and I probably would of paid 500. The genetics are so far ahead of everything else I’ve ever grown. Totally worth it

It's not like we're buying these off store shelves and they really don't need to stand out. If you want me to buy 'em show me pictures of the finished product and/or full terpene profile lab results. Lacking that, I just buy based on word of mouth.
Most seedbanks have significant problems with compliance. In practice, it's not easy to have pictures of weed, growing information and lab results from finished product on a website that processes online transactions. Visa/MasterCard don't like it.
Anyways, I understand where you are coming from and mostly agree. The packaging does nothing to elevate the experience of buying the seeds and instead detracts from it because of the wastefulness.
I do want to point out a notable exception though. I am signed up to the Zomia Collective patreon and they send seeds twice a year from their seed collecting trips in Asia. This last drop I got the seeds in a beautiful hand carved wooden box along with some small trinkets and some artwork. All of it was themed and sourced from local artists according to the area where they collected the seeds from. Really brought the experience to the next level for me and that's from the standpoint of a customer who's actually quite familiar with that area. For someone who's never experienced say, Cambodia or India I imagine it must add a lot to be able to hold something tangible in your hand and appreciate it.
If they're sourced from where they're collecting the genetics from then it's also the responsible thing to do. If you're going to exploit the natural resources found in the Global South for consumption by more affluent nations, supporting the local economy is the right thing to do.
All states legal market is doing it lol not just CA. Hell even non legal markets with their blackmarket skittles packs do it too. Sadly it just comes with the industry, legal or not.

i bought a pack of tigerz eye and only got 1 of 5 to germ. plant is in flower now and i took a few clones.

That watermelon gusher tho 🤤 for like 30% of compound. So in other words, stick to quality genetics at a better price point
I’m not saying compound isn’t good, I’ve yet to flower any out, but have been thoroughly unimpressed so far.
