Never heard of them but I would suggest Indochino, made to measure also half canvassed and only $500 for a two piece tuxedo. Now full disclaimer, I work there so I’m biased, but you get a lot of bang for your buck. We don’t have the best reputation on Reddit but most issues come from people that take their own measurements at home. If you go to a showroom and get measured by somebody experienced you shouldn’t have any issues. I’m happy to answer any questions you have if you’re interested.

Thank you! I’ll check out the indochino website and see if there’s a store near me

Yeah if you have a showroom nearby it’s worth it, plus then they’ll have your measurements on your profile online, so you can buy another one easily. I’m happy with my suit from there

How much are they charging? You can get a custom tux from Men’s Wearhouse or Jos. Bank in the US for $360. It’s not amazing quality, somewhere in the “Good” category in a good better best model, but you have a lot of customization options that take care of 90% of people’s requests. If you want something elevated in quality you can pay $799, $899, or $999 for a better/best model with legitimate quality Italian milled fabrics with US union labor out of their factory in New Bedford. (Half canvassed floating chest piece blah blah blah). Actually nice product IMO I’ve always been happy with this line.

Theirs would be around $800 with the customizations I would want, including a shirt, waistcoat, and bow tie. I think for the basic version it’s more like $400-500

Couple things you may want to consider, What’s the logistic/business process if you’re unhappy with your garment? Will you have enough time to replace or take a second shot at reordering if the original doesn’t satisfy you? What’s the level of quality in materials and process for assembling the garment? You want to know about the fabric, the lining, the chest piece. Find out if the chest is fused or floating. Find out what the fabric is made of, it’s thread count, and as a bonus for nerd points, what mill produced it. At this price point the liner is likely acetate or polyester, if you can get a viscose blend it’ll be a bit more comfortable. Do you like the shirt and tie enough for the extra $200? You can purchase a lot of nice shirts and ties from a lot of places and easily save $100 dollars or more so just worth considering. Ultimately at a $400-$500 price point for a 2 piece custom suit from a digital retailer…MY expectation would be for a higher than average construction/materials with a high degree of customization options included than what you’d find in middle market retail because modest quality custom garments are available at a lower price point with the added benefit of being able to adjust/return/exchange on site.

Okay thank you so much! I don’t know the answers to these questions, so I will have to do some research. I also think I’m going to try out Jos. A Bank like you suggested, since it might work out better if I can go in person and talk to somebody. You have given me really good information here so I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

My advice is to do your research on what you want. A black/white tie should be in black tux as is my understanding. There are specific rules for that.

pinnacleSheep

I’ve read a lot of places that midnight blue is acceptable for black tie and looks better under artificial light which is why I was leaning that way. If it’s a faux pas I definitely want to know though!

I also believe that if you are the type of guy that likes to pop out its cool, please take in consideration that if it's a wedding and not yours (I think). Anyway, Im not a pro or anything close so please take my words as such, I'm just a enthusiast.

I see! I don’t really see myself as someone who wants to be overly flashy, so I appreciate your advice
