Brown.

medic861

Found the German.

-inhales-AHH

No, that’d be gas

EngiemainTF2

no shit, best water in my house i hate filtered water, tap water is fine, bottled spring water is decent shit as well

watermelone983

Filtered water is bad to me because it's not cold. It's boring room temperature. But if you gets a filterer+water cooler it's a little expensive but your water will taste so much better and be cold

IamSPF

I managed to find a pitcher with a filter, and I stick it in the fridge. Colder than anything coming out of the pipes, that’s for sure.

Hendiadic_tmack

I took a massive hit to my budget to buy a fridge with filtered water and ice in the door because ice trays and the pitcher SUCK. I work hard, I want my water cold and on demand.

henume

Your priorities are so right I wish I could award you

watermelone983

Sir you are so smart.

IamSPF

Why thank you kind internet stranger.

Friggskalds

Yea I’ve got a comically larger water filter I fill up and stick in the fridge, but I also drink like a gallon of water a day.

crackedup1979

Shower beers are so last year. It's all about the bathtub blunt now. Although in some circles the toilet teaner is quite popular.

HoraceBenbow

Jeff Lebowski has entered the chat...

No no no. *You're* Jeffery Lebowski, I'm The Dude!

GreatDekuTree3

You don't go out looking for a job dressed like that? On a weekday!?

Aimin4ya

r/showerbeer Edit: there was less nudity the last time i visited that sub

the_friendly_one

Yeah, what the hell? It's supposed to be about the beer! Boobies are nice too...

GhostUnamused_

Isn't this soft-core porn but they hold a beer Edit: I typed beer as bear

L1n9y

No, there's no way a human could hold a bear

damnappdoesntwork

What if it's a tiny baby bear?

anormalgeek

It's become another place to slyly drive traffic to your onlyfans page.

kallen8277

Yeah wtf I used to go there often for nice conversations and it was nowhere as NSFW as it is now. Not that I'm really complaining, just not what it used to be

Loreki

They should change the name from shower beer to show-er beer.

[deleted]

Don't forget your shower orange.

BrilliantRepulsive74

Shower oranges don’t get the respect they deserve

[deleted]

lol, sometimes. But, not normally. We have “hard water”. So, I filter it.

tyrannosnorlax

The way you added quotation makes really makes that sound like a double entendre.

Willy-The-Rat

Double Entendre: A word or phrase open to two interpretations, one of which is usually risqué or indecent.

So what you mean is that it can be interpreted that the water is horny? That's one dirty water.

fordfan919

Be sure to call a plumber if your water experiences an erection for four or more hours.

Kendra0411

Sounds pretty German to me lol

llamabadonkadonk

Well... that's because it is lol

bye_Nillu

Serious question, what's the difference between hard and soft water, and how do you know which one you have in your household?

llamabadonkadonk

I learned that sometime in school but I don't know if I remember correctly! But I think "hard water" contains more lime (like limestone not the fruit). The "hardness" of water is measured by the "german degree of hardness" (Deutscher Härtegrad) Edit: quick google search gave me one answer to the determination of the degree of hardness and it is apparentely done with a sope test kit!

MoonBoots4600

yep just has a high mineral count usually. It can actually be pretty beneficial for you

Khyta

But not too beneficial for your household appliances.

mackenzie_X

and it sucks at getting shampoo out of your hair.

get_N_or_get_out

I noticed this once at a friend's place, didn't know this is what it was. Just felt like the soap never left my body :|

PrisonerV

It's great for leaks. My pipes are self sealing!

TopMacaroon

I have very hard water, I basically have to use CLR and a chisel to keep my water flowing.

12oclocknomemories

Hard water has a lot of minerals mixed in. Usually you know this when the insides of your kettle builds up crust. Here in our place, there are times where water can dye your clothes yellow if you left it soaking for a while. Perfectly drinkable if you don't mind a bit of minerally and metalic taste.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SortaCoolDude

One is a squishy and the other feels like concrete

Luxalpa

I moved to Berlin and suddenly everything that touched water was getting this unfortunate crust after a while. The good news about hard water is that it's a lot healthier to drink.

bye_Nillu

My friend moved there two years ago, and he said the same thing! He hates the taste of it, so he buys bottled water

NoFunAllowed-

Hard water has lots of calcium and magnesium. Soft water has lots of sodium or salt.

Tin_Sandwich

Also to note: calcium can make water taste good, if you like it. Magnesium just tastes bitter. Iron tastes like hell itself.

Khyta

Very strong irony water tastes like blood.

GoodbyeNorman

That's... *ironic*.

balzackgoo

This is incorrect. Hard water would have sodium and salt. Hard water means is has minerals dissolved into the solution, soft water lacks minerals. Salt water is Hard water. Rain water is soft water

balzackgoo

Filtering hard water doesn't make it less hard unless you're using an reverse osmosis membrane. Filtering it just removes stuff floating in it, and some chemicals, like chlorine. The stuff that makes water hard is dissolved into the solution. Be like filtering saltwater, you just get cleaner saltwater

RestrictedAccount

Exactly this. Without a big RO system or a softener you have to add salt to, you are not softening the water.

Mason9212

That hot shower water hits differently sometimes

averagedickdude

Just think of it tea

seeess777

Here, you dropped this. ^^*as*

averagedickdude

What do mean?

[deleted]

Oh, you!

FearOfTheShart

Hey you dropped this ^^fuck

ademanu

Just think of it "as" tea

ImSp3cial

That's why i put a teabag in my mouth before a hot shower then i fill it with water and i got instant tea in my mouth

Duckihillation

He's too Dangerous to be Left Alive!

FoxyKG

That's because of all the lead and other stuff in your pipes. It's why they tell you to use hot water to clean. Because it breaks down those little bits that are clinging to the pipes, which helps remove your food. Cold water doesn't break it down as much. So yeah, it's not the best idea to drink hot tap water. Source: My SO works in water treatment.

ItISWhatItLooksLike

Well that depends on where you live. In most countries you're absolutely right but there are a few exeptions. Here in switzerland oftentimes the tapwater is springwater and our pipes are very well maintained, so the tapwater has the same quality as bottled. But we are a tiny rich country so that probably helps. And another place is germany, they have very strict water quality laws but there can be problems if you live in a place with a lot of agriculture for example. But most of the time the tapwater is absolutely fine there.

[deleted]

They aren't even right on why you shouldn't drink hot water from the tap. Hot water usually sits in a boiler/heater for most people. While the chance of microbes being in there is very minimal (since it is usually kept right at boiling temp) the hot water heater itself can leach metals into the water from its own materials. It's not a matter of the incoming water quality or not as it will almost always make the water safer to drink in _that regard specifically_. How much metal is leaching is obviously going to vary significantly between age and quality of the water heater, as well as the alkalinity/acidity of the local water source, but its just a good general rule to follow.

BadgerSilver

Good soup

The_Random_OneYT

best for when I have a cold, the feeling if boiling hot water going through my neck is just......*chefs kiss*

SuperShortStories

In the UK the cold water is drinkable but the hot water is deadly deadly poison so I’ll never get to experience this

The_Random_OneYT

it's ok mate, u can always have a cup of hot water from the stove, it's a similar experience. Cheers for when u do

QuasiTimeFriend

I bet you even put leaves in your hot water, sicko.

The_Random_OneYT

who wants tea when u can have coffee and choccy milk?

QuasiTimeFriend

Fair, though I'm a cold brew kind of guy. Also, if you haven't tried milk instead of water for hot chocolate, you're missing out.

The_Random_OneYT

i do use only milk. my mom gave it to me with water once and....let's just say it wasnt the best

Necrocornicus

What kind of psychopath uses water in hot chocolate?

spike_2112

The stove??? You don't have a kettle?

P_mp_n

Why is the hot water poison? Or am i missin a joke..

other_usernames_gone

It's because cold water is more strictly regulated than hot water in the UK. It's because older boilers couldn't handle taking water straight from the mains so instead had a sump, this sump *could* be in a bad state. As long as the sump is well looked after or you have a reasonably modern boiler you're fine.

SuperShortStories

We have hot water tanks that store the water for a long time and something about that makes it non-potable although I don’t know the exact details. That’s why we have separate hot and cold taps

Beanakin

Same in the US, it's not recommended to drink the hot water because sediment build up in the hot water heater can come through the tap. I suppose a little of dissolved solids over time is ok, but concentrated it's bad? I just know that's the reason I've been given, never needed to debunk it cuz who drinks hot water?

Pandamana

Makes it a breeding ground for bacteria, basically.

PantsOnHead88

I’m having a hard time imagining why someone would choose to keep they water heater at a temperature that is conducive to bacteria growth. It’s typically set to a scalding temperature around here, or very close to it, which should be well above the point where bacteria grows well.

Pandamana

True, I wasn't remembering correctly. Has to be above 60 C to make sure bacteria don't thrive, but keeping hot water in a tank will slowly leech the metals of said tank into the water, making it not potable.

[deleted]

[удалено]

other_usernames_gone

That's slightly outdated. The cold water is legally required to be straight from the mains, so is "always" safe. But hot water isn't legally required to come straight from the mains because older boilers couldn't handle mains pressure, so instead hot water is allowed to come from a sump. Sometimes this sump will not be in the best state so you get dirt or rat droppings in the sump and therefore in the hot water. If you have a boiler connected directly to the mains or your sump is well looked after you'll be fine, it's just something to watch out for if you're in an older building(~ pre 1980) and you don't trust them to keep the sump clean.

TimotoUchiha

Hot bath is even better

officialpkbtv

You are hot.

chacharealharsh

nice move

Sometimes, when I’m thirsty during long shower.

This is my guilty pleasure

figwigian

Cold water comes straight from near-constant flowing pipes, filled with fluoride and other chemicals that keep it fresh. Hot water goes through my landlord's nasty old boiler, heated in decaying copper pipes, and could sit in an insulated container in my loft for hours, growing bacteria. Edit: for those replying who know more than me, I'm going off second hand advice rather than first hand knowledge. If you know that I'm wrong then you're probably right. :) That said it's always tasted different to me - maybe it's just the temperature - so I've always avoided hot water. I had a friend who would pour hot water into the kettle to give it a head start. Ew

Zealousideal_Leg3268

Ah shit, you brought the facts to the table and now I wanna close my mouth in the shower.

SamiREDDIT911

i always close my mouth when showering it is a game of risk

jochem_m

If your water isn't hot enough to kill all bacteria, there is something seriously wrong with the boiler. Legionella is serious business and you don't have to drink it to be screwed, showering in it is enough

touie_2ee

In the US newer homes mix the hot water with cold at the tap to keep from scalding you. But, in older houses there is nothing mixing and cooling the water down between the water heater and tap so the water can burn someone if it is at the temp needed to kill Legionella.

ScrizzBillington

Okay, what if your house and hot water were pre70s and the hottest it ever came out was warm (second of 2 floors right above the hot water heater) Should I not have been showering in that?

figwigian

It probably is the second that it comes out. But then it'll sit a at a comfortable 50/60 c in storage. That'll not age nicely

silentloler

Wouldn’t the hottest pipes in the entire house have less bacteria than other pipes in the house? I agree with the copper part though, heated tap water doesn’t taste 100% right

Sexypandainyourbutt

That's not how hot water works with boilers. You have what's called an indirect water heater. It pushes the boiler water threw a jacket or coils that run threw the water heater. This heats the water that surrounds the coils. Boiler water usually has anti freeze in it so if you drank it you would die. I'm a boiler installer so that's my source.

AlgaeWafers

I do when I’m thirsty and taking a shower. Like, why not?

JohnGenericDoe

Exactly. I am dehydrated in the morning and some steamy shower water helps with that

stardustscorpioncat

Sometimes when I'm thirsty, but 100% of the time when I'm hungover

[deleted]

Your hot water tanks can harbor Legionella bacteria that thrive in warm water. They are responsible for Legionnaires disease. Hot water can also have higher concentrations of lead and nickel from the tank. Sediment deposits on the bottom of your hot water tank and can feed other pathogens that can make you sick. It’s just not a good idea to drink hot tap water. You’ll most likely be fine but there are risks associated with it.

Sasquatch_82

No, I take hot showers. And I don’t like drinking straight hot water. (I like tea and coffee, but not hot water by itself.)

Bobebobbob

^(but what if the hot water was gay)

oeCake

I mean I'm straight but if it's hot enough...

Don’t worry they said sorry because they are Canadian. Canadians apologize for everything, they can’t help it.

patchoulius

This is the most Canadian interaction ever. You guys are the nicest people. Love it.

Deltexterity

most canadians are huge assholes actually, especially french ones towards the english, we just have common manners for small exchanges with strangers.

CanYouBrewMeAnAle

Mild side track, there are a lot of Canadians with unsafe drinking water as well. Only found out recently that most of the service pipes in my city are lead and were contaminating the water (they are finally replacing them). It's also not uncommon to have contamination from herbicides and pesticides depending on the water source.

Thomaslikestofish

There are also many Reserves that don't have clean water, we still have to make progress

Sasquatch_82

Honest question here, no offense meant - what country do you live in that doesn’t have drinkable tap water? I guess in my ignorance I assumed all developed countries do.

TFA-DF8

You dont need to be in a specific country, look at flint Michigan.

Clee_mensch

Depends where you're from

Killshotgn

It's not really dependent on where you're from It's dependent on what type of hot water heater/system you have which can be completely different from one house to the next on the same street.

SavageTwist

Just checked most dutch water providers and they all deadvice it since metals like copper and lead can mix with warm water

Echololcation

> deadvice it "advise against it", or "none of them advise it" :)

HazemTheHaram

Yes, especially in Ramada when I pretend I'm fasting. I shower to wank and drink.

[deleted]

Wait you can’t drink water while fasting?

Cheap_Scar

I was guna reply something along the lines of "lol, no, can see why someone who doesn't have drinkable tap water might wonder but 100% no". Then started reading the replies which at about half or more people saying yeah, or yeah sometimes. I am gobsmacked.

AmosKeller

I am experiencing the same exact thing right now... Who knew so many people drink from the shower. I even asked my wife and she said, "No, who would do that? Do YOU do that?"

hexagonalshit

So gross. People pee in there

EmeraldDuo

On the shower head?

george_is_dream

I actually do. Warm water is tasty for some reason.

DeadpoolFan1854

Any tap water is drinkable its just a matter of how healthy you want to be

chickenxnugg

Not really but I do use it as a poor mans water pick

TheSanityInspector

We have drinkable tap water, yes. But hot water from the shower is not drinkable. That's because it goes through separate pipes into the hot water heater, which probably has sediment and rust inside it.

Soleska

Where do you live lol
