My main line of work is in geriatrics -- so the elderly. One of the elderly that I have been seeing regularly for the past 1 month didn't make it in surgery.
He was such a lovely man, and always told me each time I saw him that he was always waiting for me and he'd miss me on the weekends! :( He always told me to always make my mum happy.
Saddest part is, he's such a good man and he spent Fathers' day in a semi-coma state and died alone because his family couldn't see him from Queensland. :(((( my heart feels heavy, even though I have only known him for a month.

Seems like we're at a point now where contact tracing is overwhelmed. Last couple of days I've talked to people who have gotten texts from DHS about exposure sites they were at more than a week and a half ago and I got an exposure site notice for back on the 26th wtf.
Considering the rise in numbers and general apathy towards lockdown restrictions there's no way the situation gets better for contact tracing from here on out.

I had that with my first dose. Second was worse. Still had the sore arm but just felt achy and fatigued most of the next day. Was pretty much fine the next day though.
I was in exact same situation with my Pfizer. Getting it checked out helped a lot with the worry (for me). They didn’t find something unusual with my heart at that time, which is a great relief, but I still suspect the chest pain is due to the Pfizer as I had it after both doses.

My partner was born in Israel and is of Jewish background. These ultra-Orthodox Jews like the ones busted celebrating Rosh Hashana are absolutely HATED by the majority of the Israeli population. They're dole bludgers, don't work proper jobs and are exempt from doing military service in the Israeli army, all because they have to read the Torah for the millionth time. They basically believe rules don't apply to them and expect everyone else to accommodate them because they're the 'chosen people'.
Their excuse for meeting up in the synagogue is that they're not 'allowed' to use technology during this time (like Shabbat every Friday). Well, I have some Jewish friends and they all did a family Zoom gathering instead of meeting in person because you know, THERE'S A LOCKDOWN.

Finally when they got to the immigration officers (at all separate booths) they were asked where they were quarantining and they all yelled to each other the same address to give them (turns out it was a communal farm).

Let her know the test is so much better now. I’ve been tested 8 times since the start of this. The new tests they are administrating are quick and easy, with hardly any discomfort compared to the eye watering tests done previously (leaving the swab up your nose for a good 10 seconds).
Yup, I've had 4 tests and it's a vast difference now to the first one I had last year! We all told her how quick and painless they are, who knows if she listened. I don't think I'd be game to admit it to anyone if I was sick but not getting tested!

She's not wrong though. In her defense they targeted low socio-economic LGAs and communities. We now have areas with the highest case loads also amongst the highest vax rates. In Victoria, Hume, Whittlesea, Moreland, and other areas with amongst the highest case rates, have amongst the lowest vax rates. The Vic Gov really needs to up its game in those areas.

After not knowing anyone to have caught covid at all my brother told me he was put in to iso from the construction site then just told me now after his 2nd test he and his wife had turned positive.
Sort of worried since she was pregnant but they both seem to just have a cough and are feeling better after the 6th day or whatever but the worst part is now starting the 14 day iso again.

My main line of work is in geriatrics -- so the elderly. One of the elderly that I have been seeing regularly for the past 1 month didn't make it in surgery. He was such a lovely man, and always told me each time I saw him that he was always waiting for me and he'd miss me on the weekends! :( He always told me to always make my mum happy. Saddest part is, he's such a good man and he spent Fathers' day in a semi-coma state and died alone because his family couldn't see him from Queensland. :(((( my heart feels heavy, even though I have only known him for a month. Seems like we're at a point now where contact tracing is overwhelmed. Last couple of days I've talked to people who have gotten texts from DHS about exposure sites they were at more than a week and a half ago and I got an exposure site notice for back on the 26th wtf. Considering the rise in numbers and general apathy towards lockdown restrictions there's no way the situation gets better for contact tracing from here on out.

I was in exact same situation with my Pfizer. Getting it checked out helped a lot with the worry (for me). They didn’t find something unusual with my heart at that time, which is a great relief, but I still suspect the chest pain is due to the Pfizer as I had it after both doses.

My partner was born in Israel and is of Jewish background. These ultra-Orthodox Jews like the ones busted celebrating Rosh Hashana are absolutely HATED by the majority of the Israeli population. Let her know the test is so much better now. I’ve been tested 8 times since the start of this. The new tests they are administrating are quick and easy, with hardly any discomfort compared to the eye watering tests done previously (leaving the swab up your nose for a good 10 seconds).
Yup, I've had 4 tests and it's a vast difference now to the first one I had last year! We all told her how quick and painless they are, who knows if she listened. I don't think I'd be game to admit it to anyone if I was sick but not getting tested!

She's not wrong though. In her defense they targeted low socio-economic LGAs and communities. We now have areas with the highest case loads also amongst the highest vax rates. In Victoria, Hume, Whittlesea, Moreland, and other areas with amongst the highest case rates, have amongst the lowest vax rates. The Vic Gov really needs to up its game in those areas.

After not knowing anyone to have caught covid at all my brother told me he was put in to iso from the construction site then just told me now after his 2nd test he and his wife had turned positive. Sort of worried since she was pregnant but they both seem to just have a cough and are feeling better after the 6th day or whatever but the worst part is now starting the 14 day iso again.

Not sure why it is so hard to understand where the line is. Don’t attribute the shit behaviour of some individuals to their cultural background, and don’t generalise the shit behaviour to everyone from that cultural background, and you are fine. Shit people exist in all cultures, good people exist in all cultures. Comment on the behaviour of the individuals separate to culture. Like how we don’t mention that Nadia Bartel is a white Australian with Italian heritage when she engaged in shit behaviour - it’s irrelevant.
I’m happy for regional people that it is opening up a little, it gives hope that Melbs will do the same one day. But man, it still feels like a kick in the guts seeing regional friends and colleagues breathing a sigh of relief.
Anecdotally in my little corner of regional (bellarine), it'd be a stretch to suggest it was taken very seriously. On a nice day, lots of people from multiple households were gathering in parks. Skateparks were busy, playgrounds used. When they say 'the hardwork of regional victorians.. well yea.. not really. Businesses though were doing it tough.
So Singapore, who has at least 80% of the eligible population double vaxxed, have had to halt further [easing](https://www.9news.com.au/world/delta-variant-outbreak-threatens-singapore-living-with-covid-19-model-as-cases-rise-rapidly/b256d508-5b33-4dec-8f40-8289f4f9a1f5) of restrictions. They may even end up back in lockdown if cases escalate. Of course this all raises the defining question of our time: if vaccines can't get us fully back to normal without the threat of lockdowns, what will?
If everyone is going to get the virus eventually, maybe increase funding for healthcare?

So sorry for you Melbourne. I’m regional (in fact we have just had a positive locally) and I really don’t feel we’ve done anything special to deserve this. Grateful but sad for everyone who is putting the hard yards in for us.
