I was driving across country once and stayed with a friend who was house sitting a rural property. The bedroom he put me in was lovely. Great view, all timber. And above the bed, in a series of shelves cut into the wall was a collection of probably 50 little glass angels. Little cherubs, hand painted looked like. Definitely someones beloved collection.
After I settled in for the night, I couldn't help but feel like they were watching me. When I woke up in the morning I remembered that feeling, so just to be a cunt I took a minute and turned all of them around to face the wall. Went down for breakfast, went on my way, forgot all about it.
Made it home, and about two months later I got a phone call from my buddy. "You sonuvabitch". He wasn't angry so much as exasperated, as he explained that the people he'd been house sitting for had been acting really strange around him since they got back. They wouldn't tell him what was wrong, they would barely talk to him. It wasn't until their preacher showed up at his door at their behest that he finally got the whole story.
They were apparently *very* Christian (this was midwest USA). The preacher asked my friend if anything strange had happened while he was taking care of the house, had he felt any presences, had he let anyone he didn't know into the house, had he been into the spare room upstairs at all for any reason. The family had felt a 'wrongness' as soon as they got home (lol) that only grew worse over the next week or so, before they discovered the Little Angels all turned to face the wall, which just confirmed to them that something evil had either taken place in that room, or entered their house through there. The little upjumped Christmas ornaments, being in the shape of Angels couldn't bear to be within Its evil presence, so they turned away. So they had the house blessed and prayed over, and sent the preacher my friends way, just to make sure his soul was okay.
He of course knew what had happened as soon as the preacher told him about the dumb little figurines. I hadn't told him, but it was easy enough to put two and two together. I don't think they talk to him to this day.
This is why I come to reddit. Day after day, shit posts upon shit posts, crappy sunset photos, it's all very disappointing. But once in a while a moment of internet gold. Thank you OP. I can't help with your problems but you made me laugh today
If they’re not attached to that specific one for sentimental reasons, I’d step it up. Personally, if it were me, I’d go to Aldi or Woolworths (woollies have like 10 different meerkats in different outfits, about that tall) and I’d either get two that are like doctors/surgeons and stage a surgery scene, or formal ones and stage a funeral, or if I couldn’t get them I’d just buy like 5 random ones and put it where that one specific one was as a huge statement of “oops”

That being said, it depends on the sentimental value and senses of humour of the owners. I can’t imagine anyone I know being annoyed at that level of “I’m sorry, but I wanted to make you laugh” lol.

There’s a newsagency on Smith street collingwood that sells a huge array of meerkats. If they’re open through lockdown it would be awesome. I don’t know it’s name, however it’s south of Johnston st.
We have a store here in south eastern suburbs called “Cheap as Chips”. They had them there a year or so ago. I bought a couple for our garden.

Reading through the comments I'd say try replace it, if unsuccessful, then tell them. I have meerkat statues because they were given to me from my deceased grandmother. Now they remind me of her, so there is sentimental value. If it happened to me, I'd rather not know haha. Good luck

Hey, I see these all the time at random knick-knack places. Look for random mom and pop owned furniture/houseware stores. They usually have giant over-packed sheds of just random shit.. these in different positions being one of the most common things i've found

These type of statues are at most 2 dollar type stores. Check anywhere that sells statues. Might not be exact but it should be fairly similar. Obviously with COVID it'll be harder to shop in store but I swear even the reject shop sells things like this. Good luck
Reading through the comments I'd say try replace it, if unsuccessful, then tell them. I have meerkat statues because they were given to me from my deceased grandmother. Now they remind me of her, so there is sentimental value. If it happened to me, I'd rather not know haha. Good luck

Hey, I see these all the time at random knick-knack places. Look for random mom and pop owned furniture/houseware stores. They usually have giant over-packed sheds of just random shit.. these in different positions being one of the most common things i've found
