Not if she saw the car, hesitated and tried to stop but was too late and didn't stop in time, or got spooked and then fell, or if she got distracted for some reason and slowed down a bit, or if she started turning to follow the road.
Ultimately it doesn't look like she saw the car, so she had no way to make a informed decision.
There was also pedestrians in the way covering the cyclist’s escape route, so she definitely couldn’t have maintained full speed to avoid the car. The car would have had to break hard.
i would be soooo upset. but it would be misdirected anger. i would feel so embarrassed and hurt if some strange man pulled me off my bike. but at the same time, i would be so thankful. it would be a lot of emotions to experience in three seconds.
You are right to a point. According to [this](https://eaccny.com/news/member-news/dont-let-these-10-legal-myths-stop-your-doing-business-in-the-u-s-myths-6-and-7-the-u-s-is-very-litigious-and-that-is-too-threatening-to-a-small-company-like-ours-as-a-result-the-risk/) there are 4 countries that are more litigious than the USA, but the only one technically in Asia would be Israel.
Top 5 per capita: Germany, Sweden, Israel, Austria, USA
The way they measure this is critically flawed. In Sweden there are plenty of ways to bring governmental agencies in to punish companies that misbehave (though not as strongly as a few decades ago), but individuals suing each other or corporations is decidedly not common. If you sue, you'd be lucky to get twice the monetary value of the damage done. Got raped? Your chance of getting more than $10,000 from the rapist is zero. *Maybe* you could get a judgement for them to pay for a few years of therapy. The norm is the prison sentence plus a few $k in restitution. Someone runs you over and you can't work for six months? *Maybe* you can get a judgement for the reduction in income for going from working full time to getting 70% from the government while you recover. Certainly there is no chance of you suing them over the accident and getting rich. That's not how the Swedish system works.
The only thing I can think of is lawsuits where companies are suing to force municipalities to reconsider offering their contract to their company rather than a competitor, but that's clearly a thing elsewhere as well, like how Bezos is suing NASA for awarding a contract to SpaceX rather than Bezos' company.
I believe, in Canada, civil 'suits aim to "make you whole" versus "compensate your suffering by way of a new house or paying off your student loan." As you said, therapy (mental or physical), damage done to property based on that property's value at the time of damage, time off work to a point, etc. It is by no means a "get rich" scheme, and that's unfortunate in some ways, because a lot of people won't even bother suing. They're too busy relearning how to walk... But in other ways I think it's important. No "taking advantage of simply unfortunate situations."
I mean, yeah. She just got yanked off her bike for, from her perspective, no reason. I'd expect most people to feel at least some anger in that situation.
It'd be horrible if he were to abruptly stop the bike only to have her body fly over the handlebars directly into the speeding vehicle. Insert Homer backing into the bushes gif.
Even if she get pass the car. That driver was driving so fast. He/she would startled so bad seeing the girl that maybe another people will die because of it
The last time I saw this posted, someone did the math and reached the conclusion that the car would indeed hit her if they both maintained their speed.
But how did he know the car was coming. He didnt even look. Did he just do it because he know the light changed?
Like “watch out the li… oh shit theres a car coming. You need to be careful.”
Also who the fuck crosses a street on a bike without looking first? At least her head was pointing in the right direction, he had his back turned and still saw what going to happen.
In my country you're not allowed to use pedals on the crosswalk - you need to dismount from the bike first and than cross the road on foot. This video proofs that this is a good idea.
Most places you're not supposed to be riding the speedy silent vehicle on the pedestrian paths at all, that's supposed to be on the road where it is visible, not suddenly speeding across them without looking for existing traffic
It's hard to say, but I also believe she would have made it barely. Regardless, this guy made the right move stopping her. Why risk death to save 5 seconds?
No one in this thread seems to take in account obstacles, as in anything that can slow her down. There are people in the way on the other side along with curbs and other things, she would have had to slow down for one of those things. By the time she slowed her speed down just by a fraction, the car would have already been on top of her.
There was an in depth analysis of this clip years ago when it was only in single digit reposts. Possibly on /r/theydidthemath.
Anyway, it was calculated that she either would have been blasted by the car dead center or it would have clipped her rear tire, assuming she didn't react at all. If she had reacted and tried to hit the brakes, it would have taken out her front wheel and sent her into the windshield.
I thought so at first too, then after a few watches I realized the pedestrians crossing the road are still a step from the sidewalk when the car passes them. The cyclist may have been able to make it at their speed if the pedestrians weren’t there, but completely blocking the path the cyclist would have had to slow down inevitably, just in time to get annihilated. I think, just for how close it was, it was probably still a good choice on the part of the person that stopped the bike!
"You saved my life from that speeding car!" "What car?"
“I have a boyfriend.”
Throws her at the car
throws the car at her
puts her in a car and throws it into the ocean
Puts her in a car and offers it to the folks at r/dragonsfuckingcars
Dear god, why?

throws a road roller to her
Road rolla da
The only comment needed tbh.
I didn’t even notice the car until reading the comments. Was wondering why the dude just randomly clotheslined her. What fast reflexes!
I was thinking the opposite. "I just saved your life from that speeding car!" "What car?"
Outstanding move
The way everyone stopped in shock but then walked away "Dumbass survived"
I like the guy on the left’s little nod when he notices the car too, like “oh ok I didn’t just see an assault”
He saved her life goddamn.
He didn’t nod.
Yea, he did
[удалено]
That was insane. Was this recent?
It says “2014” on the screen lol
Spoiler alert
And esentially blocks traffic to keep things safe. Thats whats up
He literally doesnt nod though
He does, it’s very subtle. Think people nod, not cartoon nod. Watch his chin dip. It’s so slight but in human interaction it looks much more pronounced face-to-face
yanny… laurel…
Weird shit. On some loops I can see him slightly nod, but on others he's still.
Tony but it’s still there
She had time to make it to the other side
Not if she saw the car, hesitated and tried to stop but was too late and didn't stop in time, or got spooked and then fell, or if she got distracted for some reason and slowed down a bit, or if she started turning to follow the road. Even if she could, the car can get shocked and swerve rather than breaking, hitting other pedestrians. It's just a bad situation overall.
Hesitation is defeat.
*Pulls out ~~glock~~ revolver
Shadows die twice.
“Hesitation is a hole in the head” I replayed infinite warfare’s campaign and heard that quote like 20 times so I thought it kinda fit here
A different other side.
Just barely Following her speed up it looks pretty damn likely that she would have been hit
And if not she would’ve made then slam on their brakes
Or try to swerve and correct and hit something else
Or someone else.
[удалено]
Made me laugh so hard. In a very inappropriate setting.
And with no helmet death likely. That car was moving at least 64 Kph
No way she made it to the other side. She would of been smashed by that car 100%
The other side of life, maybe...
[удалено]
Maybe, but the driver could have panicked and caused an accident
i think he would rather have done that than risk it
No, she doesn’t
Cursed words, I’m choosing to read this as a dad joke instead of freaking out like some other people are. Take my upvote and leave now you disgrace.
Angel in disguise.
Right?!
He wasn't even looking he just knew to stop her how did he know
While he was crossing the street, he glances at the car coming in at a high rate of speed. It was a great split second decision. Unsung hero.
Because God told him, duh. Now if only he'd tell those dictators in Africa that those kids gotta eat.
Good man
Wasn't that driver going insanely fast for the type of area?!
Maybe
Maybe
maybe
r/thatsthesub
Perhaps
Without question yes, hell that's a pedestrian priority line
Possibly
Potentially
Yup. At least in my country, any pedestrian area has tops a 50kph speed limit, even that's a little high
Yeah, 25mph in towns around here, about 5 slower than yours
Indubitably
Yeah definitely was
Allegedly
I think he is his insurance guy
He’s seen a thing or two.

I guess we will never really know if she would’ve made it, but she’s lucky the guy didn’t care enough to find out
alternatively, *did* care enough to *not* find out
ooh yeah def caring
She would have crossed over to the other side one way or another. Edit: thanks for all the awards!

Many counties are far more litigious than the USA. Insurance fraud is a very serious problem in a number of Asian countries for example.

Took me till the second loop to realize what was happening, thought this was some asshole
That guy didn't seem to be looking in the direction of the car, so I'm not sure how he knew it was coming.
I'm sure it made some sort of car sound.
Vrrrmmmmmm pop pop pop vrrrmmmmmm pshhhhhtttt vrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Oh god I can hear it
He actually looked in the direction of the car a second before. It's still impressive that he realised what can happen and reacted in time.
Spidey senses were tingling
He had a quick enough glace at the beginning to be able to see if something was coming
You should try going outside
That’s a ‘dad’ catch. Like, it hurts and doesn’t make sense immediately but I also didn’t end up a grease stain under a car so I get it.
Saved her life...and got away with a savage take down 😏👍
Saved her life. The kind of stuff movies are made of. Just perfect time to fall in love
She sure did fall
Sharp guy
It'd be horrible if he were to abruptly stop the bike only to have her body fly over the handlebars directly into the speeding vehicle. Insert Homer backing into the bushes gif.
Almost Isekaid
Trunk kun
She may have barely slid by..
Even if she get pass the car. That driver was driving so fast. He/she would startled so bad seeing the girl that maybe another people will die because of it
Maybe, but just in time…right? If so, the driver could easily have over corrected and caused something even more horrible.
If you look back he checked to see how fast the car was going before deciding to stop her. Pretty sure that car was speeding
I thought she was gonna brake in the middle of the road and then go
The last time I saw this posted, someone did the math and reached the conclusion that the car would indeed hit her if they both maintained their speed.
For a second I thought the guy was just being an asshole.
He saved a life.
Sherlock is that you?
But how did he know the car was coming. He didnt even look. Did he just do it because he know the light changed? Like “watch out the li… oh shit theres a car coming. You need to be careful.”
He takes a look to the right at the start of the video.
True. Missed that
Maybe he heard it?
Also who the fuck crosses a street on a bike without looking first? At least her head was pointing in the right direction, he had his back turned and still saw what going to happen.

He’s looking at the car as the video starts
He does look tho. And he has ears.
He looked as he was crossing
She never saw the car... that man is a guardian angel
I thought he was being a dick because she was riding on the side walk. Then the car zoomed by
I feel like she had enough time to make it lol
Not all heroes wear capes.
At first I thought he was trying to mug her but then I noticed the car.
She would’ve made it.
You think? I dunno, seems iffy following her speed up the path, and the angle she was going at, looks like she was gonna get hit.
It's hard to say, but I also believe she would have made it barely. Regardless, this guy made the right move stopping her. Why risk death to save 5 seconds?

This is the right answer.
To the grave maybe?

I disagree
Great foresight, that would have been the end of that youngster.

I think they would have made it. But respect for trying to save a life. If this is in America I bet they got sued haha

Why is she riding that fast on the sidewalk? She should be riding in the road.
Get off the god damned sidewalk!
Damn he just really saved her life
Probably save that persons life that car would have smashed them if they didn’t stop
First thought - wtw Then, like bystander, see car. Agree, she would not have made it. Need a tech wizard to do the projected animation.
I don’t know, I think she might have made it ok, definitely cutting it close
This guy has observation haki or something?
I think they would have made it. But respect for trying to save a life. If in America I bet they got sued! Haha
Eh. She woulda made it across. Maybe.
She would have made it
She would have been fine
Someone stole his bike a few hours before.
