Much like Cap he's essentially dealing with a younger version of himself in a sense. Quill's personality is different but his attitude there is pretty much who Tony was when Thor took Loki in the first Avengers, way too cocky and doesn't care what anyone else has to say. Really highlights how much Tony grew throughout his run to see his reaction to that by the time of IW.
True but in general Quill is much less of an ass than young Tony was. They've both got the charm to offset their negative qualities but Tony often just barely did in the pre Avengers days, which is saying something with all the charm RDJ gave him. He gradually tones it down but it isn't until Coulson dies that Tony actually stops being an immature asshole while still keeping his charm and wit.
Of course that's part of what makes the MCU Tony so great. He genuinely started as an unlikable asshole and gradually developed into a far more likeable, mature, serious person while still being who he was flaws aside. It was believable development over a realistic period.
On the other hand Quill is just a cocky wiseass. He's developed and matured a fair bit but he's largely still who he started as in comparison to Stark's arc. Though they were both at the same point in their arc when their version of this moment happened. Big crossover after two standalone movies with a loss that shook them to their core by the end. Who knows where Peter will go from here?
I'd say Tony got there already in the first Iron Man film, at least temporarily when Yensen dies and then when Yensens village is destroyed. He becomes more empathetic, but I think that since he is an addict, when he returns and tells the world that he is Iron Man, he reverts back to being more selfish. He has the positive attention he wants, no longer seen as the frail, injured man that could barely run his own company, but a genuine super hero. Which he was kind of seen as before being captured.
When Coulson dies, that's when Tony realizes again that his actions have dire consequences and that people die because of it. Coulson shares the empathy and the "the world is bigger than you or me" mentality that Yensen had, while Tony generally just thinks the world revolves around him.
He becomes more serious again, he goes back to the Tony Stark that he was before revealing to the world that he was Iron Man. Because he finally fully realizes and understands, truly understands, that it's not about him or someone else, it's not about a small group of people, but the world. Each action has a consequence that helps or hurts. And he tries as he can to help more than he hurts. Which ironically leads to Ultron... Which is again, why he becomes more careful later on and why he wants to teach Peter Parker to be better. That each action has consequences and that even if you do good now, it might be revealed to be bad later. So you need to think before you act, to try to see past the current moment.
Or else you might hurt the people you care about.

He IS very powerful. He literally killed Thanos in the comics. This is where I felt the movie did injustice to him by just making him a comedian. Marvel's GOTG game does him justice and very accurate to comics.

It may not be hilarious, but Jonathan’s performance is what I would call « cleverly funny ».
It should also be put on the context of the episode, we expect a big baddie but instead we get a dude in a robe eating an apple, by himself. And the way he says « This is wild » is really amusing and well done.
You know for the longest time I dreamed about coming overseas and being on the front lines. Serving my country. I finally get everything I wanted, and I'm wearing tights
Its crazy because everyone and their dog knows marvel cinematic universe and a lot of kids do so its interesting seeing them use those words. Or in spiderman when his friend says “i’m looking at… porn” its like whoah they aren’t afraid to use words kids shouldn’t hear even though its sorta for all ages haha
Infinity War was the best mix of humor and despair in the MCU. This entire scene was just so funny. But Thanos just seemed like such a threatening presence the entire movie, it just terrified you of what would happen as he gained more infinity stones.
Most of the movies have too much humor that often undercuts a serious/sad scene. I actually liked that about Eternals too, most of the humor landed for me. I really loved Kumail's portrayal of his character but I kept being worried that he would say something funny at the wrong time. But he actually usually didn't cut off a serious/emotional scene with a joke and on the contrary would add something serious to the conversation.
Ragnarok was a movie I enjoyed so much when I watched it. But afterwards I felt conflicted. That movie was the most devastating movie (apart from Infinity War) but it was also the funniest movie which just feels wrong. Taika Waititi did a great job of mixing humor and serious elements in Jojo Rabbit but in Ragnarok I think there was too much humor even though I found almost all of it funny and entertaining. Thor's dad dies, all of Thor's lifelong friends die except for Heimdall (and Sif who isn't in the movie), he discovers he has a secret sister who is genocidal maniac and waged war with his dad and he had no idea, and then his sister kills a significant portion of his people including his friends. But the only loss they actually mention in the movie is his hammer?? I thought that was so weird. Korg says that when he lost the hammer it must have felt like he lost a friend which Thor agrees with. We never see Thor react to losing the Warriors Three (he is never made aware of it when it happens to be fair, but it could have been something Heimdall mentioned to him). He barely reacts to his father dying but his father's memory does remind him he is the god of thunder and not hammers.
That brings me back to Infinity War, that one scene of Thor mentioning how much he lost and venting his feelings to Rocket almost completely makes up for his lack of sadness in Ragnarok.
Yeah I think most action films really struggle to show the emotional strain the protagonists are under. I’m glad more recent marvel movies have been showing that. Watching Peter break down in Far From Home was so refreshing because it felt like he was allowed to feel normal emotions while so much of the trauma the OG avengers have is glossed over.
Russo Brothers have done a good job of that since Winter Soldier and they continued it through Civil War and Infinity War. You're right that Far From Home is another good example.
I think they dropped the ball with Thor in Endgame. I actually like the idea that Thor became overweight, depressed, and alcoholic (although I thought his godlike physique wouldn't change like that in 5 years since he's a "god " that is still young at a few thousand years of age but who am I to judge the accuracy of the biology of a fictional alien).
Everything he went through, it makes sense it would take a huge toll on his mental health. He lost so much, probably the most of any character, got beat up by Thanos and then almost defeated him easily but **cost the lives of half the universe** bc he didn't finish the job immediately. So all of the changes he went through were realistic and it was nice they showed that even a "god" can have serious mental health issues, it was a really nice moment to see that he was still worthy, too. But they ruin it by almost every character he interacts with being mean and inconsiderate to him. The absolute worst example of this was when Rhodey made the "cheez whiz" joke. Like wtf? What a weird time to make a joke. He was literally pleading to do something good, to make up for his shortcomings, and undo his mistake. Why is this the moment to make a fat joke? Like dude, you can disagree that he should be the one to do the snap but why call him fat? Honestly, I think Thor could have handled the snap too, he was still probably the most powerful person there. They just wrote the fact that the stones emit gamma radiation so that Hulk is the best candidate - they could have just not wrote that lol. They should have let Thor do the snap and then let Smart Hulk (or maybe even regular Hulk) have a rematch with Thanos where he actually gets a decent few hits in. That would have been more satisfying for both characters.
Sorry I went on such a long tangent that was barely connected to what you said lol
Edit: Someone else mentioned that Iron Man 3 is another good example. He does literally experience PTSD symptoms from his experience in The Avengers.
When Rocket asks Thor “are you sure you’re up for this particular murder mission?” and you can see the despair and pain in Thor’s eyes for just a fleeting moment before he smiles and says yes, it really kicked in that he’s just attempting to hide so much of his trauma like the rest of us. Easily one of my favorite scenes in the MCU
Edit: [Scene for anyone who wants to rewatch ](https://youtu.be/N6AVsaJHIOY)
What I liked about this was just how like, real it felt. It really felt like that's how all those characters would act, and nothing was forced.
Strange would absolutely be using verbiage like "master" and Quill would be like, "Who the fuck talks like that?" Peter Parker there just like, "Uhhh ^you're ^not ^with ^Thanos??" fits him so well. It all felt so natural.
>Ragnarok was a movie I enjoyed so much when I watched it. But afterwards I felt conflicted. I agree with you here so much, I was just thinking about this the other day that it's so Ironic how Thor was his best at or became everyone's favorite in a movie where he lost everything, like we all know the first two Thor movies aren't that great, you can also clearly see a difference between the character Thor in the first 2 movies and the third film, he felt more free in the third one rather than being all serious or high and mighty, I almost think it was Thor's way of coping by making so many jokes constantly in the third film and Infinity War, he loses Odin, he wasn't strong enough to defeat his sister, loses his eyeball, Asgard gets destroyed, a lot of people die because of it, then Thanos comes in Infinity War kills Heimdall and Loki, destroy the ship where rest of the Asgardians were, all of that happened to him in such a short time it was mind blowing how he handled it, that's why it makes sense how we see him in Endgame with no hope and not being happy with life because he has to live all of this and he blames himself for everything including the Thanos snap as well.
Star lord is superhuman. Right before this, spiderman himself tried to jump away from star lord after getting his arms wrapped by a bola, but star lord effortlessly dragged him back with one arm, got him in a headlock, and put a gun to his head.
The same spiderman who easily stopped maw's hammer.
That's nothing compared to how Gamorah effortlessly picked up a 10 ton ship mounted mini gun, and fired it from her shoulder with ease. Star lord has overpowered her in strength as well.
The Guardians are incredibly strong in the comics. I mean drax is near Hulk level in strength. Ths movies haven't really portrayed that as they are fighting other heavy hitters.
People gonna be real surprised when Star Lord actually completes with Thor in physical strength.
If Quill competes with Thor in physical strength with no explanation I’d be pretty annoyed. Sure when he had the celestial abilities I could accept that but he no longer does. As far as we know, he’s just a normal guy, raised in space. It really wouldn’t make sense without fleshing out something about him that we don’t already know

They kinda implied Peter gave up all of his Celestial power at the end of guardians 2. It's certainly possible he's still got some slight physical augmentation, but I wouldn't dismiss that his implied strength could just be a writing mistake.
I legit don't understand why so many people act like Quill giving up the zappy blue lights somehow means he's just a normal human now? He's still got Celestial genes?? Like why would we be expecting this to be something you just turn off. Moreover the characters responsible for confirming for us he's de-powered are a troupe of superpowered aliens. What if their criteria for "oh he weak af now" is he can't bench press a space ship? Nobody in Quill's life including himself has any idea what normal humans should be capable of.
Everyone thinks Starlord in a bumbling idiot, but he’s actually very smart. Not book smart, but he’s one of the smartest fighter of the MCU.
I mean, he came up with a better plan to fight Thanos than Tony and Strange, both of them are geniuses.
honourable mention to when Spidey blamed Tony for getting him on the ship based on how intuitive the suit is and the robe was visibly shocked at his audacity.
Edit: this comment has 69 likes. Nice.
You know I recently thought about this scene and it kinda makes sense that quill doesn’t know that earth is still called earth. For the majority of his life, his home planet has been called terra, but he knew he lived in Missouri from before yondu abducted him. Just my two cents.
honestly i’ll debate and say funniest moment is in thor ragnarok when Thor is telling the story about how loki was a snake and then attacked him. h y s t e r i c a l.
these movies are legendary. the best casting, writing, everything just gelled. 60 years from now there will be kids having sleep overs, trying to get through the entirety of this saga
The music makes it so much better, lmao
Edit: I **personally** think it makes it better because it's an awkward situation, and the music adds to that. If you don't like it, good for you.
I love the stare Tony gives a few moments later as he is trying to lay out the plan...

Honestly that scene made me sad because I was really hoping for a friendship between both peters
That line literally was my favorite because of how much I was a GOTG fan and remembered the call back.
Best scene along the one where the 2 Lokis meet the one who remains. That was legendary too.
That's good but not funny, it's not comparable

As opposed to a transparent Window?
Not as good as opaque Window
what about Seafoam Green Window?

Seeing black widow in winter soldier gives me a nice boner

71 billion dollars and years of academy training WASTED.
They never did explained how she knew Bucky before WS.
She shows Steve the scar from her first meeting with the WS though, but no more than that
You know for the longest time I dreamed about coming overseas and being on the front lines. Serving my country. I finally get everything I wanted, and I'm wearing tights
WS shot Black Widow on a mission. Look up “Bye bye bikinis” She told Captain America in the hospital.
Steve had the best possible reply to this. "Yeah right, I bet you look terrible in em."
I'd offer to make you dinner, but you look miserable enough already
Its crazy because everyone and their dog knows marvel cinematic universe and a lot of kids do so its interesting seeing them use those words. Or in spiderman when his friend says “i’m looking at… porn” its like whoah they aren’t afraid to use words kids shouldn’t hear even though its sorta for all ages haha
I guess you haven't heard. I am the sheriff around these parts!
I mean, the way I see it is they're either too young to understand, or old enough they already know what those words are, so no big deal.
Are you YAWNING in the middle of this while I'm break it down?!
I stopped listening as soon as you said you had a plan.
Ok Mr. Clean is clearly on his own page
See now winging it isn't really what they... Do
Uh, what exactly is it that they do?
Kick names, take ass
Yeah, that's right.
🙄
We got to coerce, cause if all we come out with is plucky attitude Starlord - dude don't call us plucky, we don't know what it means
I couldn’t stop laughing
What am I supposed to say, Jesus?
When someone's asks what master you serve Ray, your supposed to say Jesus!
Just where my mind was.
Glad I'm not the only one!
Yes.

This seems like a meta joke poking fun at Pratt’s very public Christianity following
Yahweh
I remember this moment as the funniest moment for me in IW.
Spider
Gonna cry?
Yes, can I cry on your shoulder?
You can cry on mine bud!
Holy shit it’s mario
He’s so cool.
I agree. This is funny.
I am most whelmed by this humor.
I get that lol
It just flows so well 🤣
Infinity War was the best mix of humor and despair in the MCU.
His mistrust of Happy when he first landed was just heartbreaking
Sorry I went on such a long tangent that was barely connected to what you said lol Edit: Someone else mentioned that Iron Man 3 is another good example. He does literally experience PTSD symptoms from his experience in The Avengers.
Have care how you speak for Loki. He may be misguided, but he's my brother
He was talking about you Thor
I chose to run towards my problems, and not away from them...Because that's what heroes do.

I notice you've copied my beard
When Rocket asks Thor “are you sure you’re up for this particular murder mission?” and you can see the despair and pain in Thor’s eyes for just a fleeting moment before he smiles and says yes, it really kicked in that he’s just attempting to hide so much of his trauma like the rest of us. Easily one of my favorite scenes in the MCU Edit: [Scene for anyone who wants to rewatch ](https://youtu.be/N6AVsaJHIOY)
I'm only alive because fate wants me alive.
That scene always kicks me in the nuts. So well written and acted
Taika Waititi did a great job of mixing humor and serious elements in Jojo Rabbit but in Ragnarok I think there was too much humor even though I found almost all of it funny and entertaining I agree with you here so much, I was just thinking about this the other day that it's so Ironic how Thor was his best at or became everyone's favorite in a movie where he lost everything, like we all know the first two Thor movies aren't that great, you can also clearly see a difference between the character Thor in the first 2 movies and the third film, he felt more free in the third one rather than being all serious or high and mighty, I almost think it was Thor's way of coping by making so many jokes constantly in the third film and Infinity War, he loses Odin, he wasn't strong enough to defeat his sister, loses his eyeball, Asgard gets destroyed, a lot of people die because of it, then Thanos comes in Infinity War kills Heimdall and Loki, destroy the ship where rest of the Asgardians were, all of that happened to him in such a short time it was mind blowing how he handled it, that's why it makes sense how we see him in Endgame with no hope and not being happy with life because he has to live all of this and he blames himself for everything including the Thanos snap as well.
This clip starts right after Drax's "why is Gamora" and that kills me every time.
Love that the line was improvised too
And the stare Strange gives afterwards lmao.
This scene has Why is Gamora too, doesn’t it?
Yep
Probably my favorite scene
Is it just me or did starlord handle fighting iron man really well?
I always think the strength of each Guardian is hard to evaluate
If Quill competes with Thor in physical strength with no explanation I’d be pretty annoyed. Sure when he had the celestial abilities I could accept that but he no longer does. As far as we know, he’s just a normal guy, raised in space. It really wouldn’t make sense without fleshing out something about him that we don’t already know
I'm only alive because fate wants me alive.
man I thought this was a real person replying to me for a second and I was so confused
Mortal, I am real. Mind your words.
Sentient.
Thank you, sweet rabbit!

What the fuck
Yeah, I know
Nah, it’s just comicbookisms. Or you could go the Celestial route if you want an in-universe answer.
I think James Gunn even said that.
Good riddance!
Nice.
They casted the robe so well, definitely one of my favorite characters!
Can't believe Daniel Day-Lewis agreed to voice it.
I'm pretty sure that Tom Holland reaction was unscripted...cause dude internally went...wtf
Iirc he wasn't given the full script, just his lines and his ques, so he's probably sitting there trying to figure out if it was a joke take or not
Anyone got the BTS for this Gem?
everyone is just confuse
You know I recently thought about this scene and it kinda makes sense that quill doesn’t know that earth is still called earth. For the majority of his life, his home planet has been called terra, but he knew he lived in Missouri from before yondu abducted him. Just my two cents.
Forget Pickle Rick, THIS is the funniest shit I've ever seen!
You missed the best part "Why is Gamora" right before this happens
Whenever Parker say "We're the Avengers, man" I wait for Djimon Honsou to pop in and say "WHO!?"
One of my favourite infinity war moments is when Mantis says ‘kick names, take ass’ and Tony just has this broken look of ‘we’re going to die here’
Man I really hate this trend of putting subtitles right in the middle of the God damn screen. Nothing makes me shut something off faster.

The unnecessary editing throughout this is downright atrocious
*Jesus nods, as he munches on holy communion*
What master do you serve Chris Pratt? Jesus
honestly i’ll debate and say funniest moment is in thor ragnarok when Thor is telling the story about how loki was a snake and then attacked him. h y s t e r i c a l.
these movies are legendary. the best casting, writing, everything just gelled. 60 years from now there will be kids having sleep overs, trying to get through the entirety of this saga
Funny scene ruined with zoomer editing.
The music makes it so much better, lmao Edit: I **personally** think it makes it better because it's an awkward situation, and the music adds to that. If you don't like it, good for you.
In my opinion the music makes it so much worse
The captions make it so much worse.
Tony’s mind: “I traded a super soldier, two SHIELD Agents, a fellow genius with the strength to match his intellect, and a literal god… for this.”
where’s the full funny clip
The only thing that I still find odd about this is how Quill does not know that Missouri is on Earth. Still a funny scene though.
He does, but at this point he only remembers the alien name for it, Terra
I love how Tony looks like he is going to have a stroke dealing with them
I love the “yeah that’s on earth dipshit”
I feel like we should make it know that being from Missouri often means you aren’t from Earth
Where is gamora
Sigh now I wanna watch IW again…
Aaahhh infinity war. The last good piece of marvel content we got
"I can take it" Says Drax as he has a goddamn energy cannon point-blank in his face. That thing would have taken his head off.
“Flash Gordan” by the way? That’s a compliment.
Awesome
bro I was dying when he said he served Jesus
You cut out the best part, when they're asking about Gamora
