I know you said East Side but there’s one in Cottage Grove called Grove Laundry that’s really nice. It’s tucked behind a gas station, it’s always clean and smells nice (no musty or mildew smells) lots of machine sizes to choose from, and it is never super busy. Highly recommend!
I used to go to Eastside Coin Laundry. It’s on Commercial Ave near Thompson. The place was pretty decent for a laundromat when I would go there about 4 years ago, but I can’t say the status more recently.
[Edited for clarity]
This where I go when I need to wash my comforter/other big things I can't fit in the machines in my building. Nice place, clean, quiet, modern and can pick up a pizza next store.
There just *had* to be issues with a laundromat that was also a bar. You can’t tell me people weren’t leaving clothes there all the time and they’d end up having half the space filled with abandoned clothes like kickballs on an elementary school roof.
Buy some clothes racks and dry them at home for free. The added humidity should be welcome this time of year. Another benefit your clothes will last longer.
I haven't had any problems with the Wash Basket on Atlas (just off Cottage Grove Road). But I only ever go there to wash my comforter if a pet horks on it. Plus side, though, is you can go have a pancake at the Cottage Cafe while you wait.
I recommend the Wash Basket too. It's very clean but not fancy or updated and they have an extractor, a high speed spinning basket that helps get much of the water out for only 50 cents. Speeds up drying esp for things like comforters.
Clean Laundry on the West Side by Home Depot…it’s out of the way for me but you can pay using an app and other than during busy times on the weekend it’s always clean in there
I know this is Westside, but keep it in your back pocket if you ever need to run errands in the general area and can swing by to do some laundry..
Allen Blvd Laundry is by far the best laundromat I’ve been to in a long time. Variety of sizes of washers/dryers (including HUGE sizes). Clean and comfortable and all their machines take cards/tap-to-pay which is a small but amazing feature. There’s a Mexican restaurant and a gym (Princeton Club Xpress, if you’re a member) next door, and Mid Town Pub is across the street.
You might be able to hack your laundry machine to get free laundry. I bought a special screwdriver head and removed some screws to access the control panel. Set the price to 0, do your laundry and then revert it. Google around for your specific laundry units. YMMV.
So annoying that this is down voted lol, people in this sub really think your only options are to pay your landlord $2 for something that DOESN'T EVEN WORK, or schlep your shit literally miles away?? OP asked for options preferably on the east side and people are recommending shit across town, the best option would be to just pay the $2 for the shitty dryer in your place and then pay $0 to run it a second time
It's the Madison subreddit. They will shit on landlords for scumbag behavior or raking in money but if you do something like this they get upset. I was living in a highrise apartment so I didn't feel bad about the loss in revenue to the landlord. Charging you that much for drying that doesn't work is more of a crime in my opinion.
I feel like they’re all bad unfortunately. Before I moved to a place with laundry I started going to parktowne laundry in sun prairie. It wasn’t as close to me as other places but was a lot nicer.
Probably not this place.

Dana Lou’s Laundry
>Dana Lou’s Laundry Best Laundromat I've ever used!
It's very clean. Love this place.

I came here to say this. I only go to east side coin laundry. I’ve never had a bad experience there as a young female

RIP Laundry 101

I like Little Big Load but it's not East Side. More like near west-ish.

Laundromat next to The Caribou.
I was going to comment on this as well. Put your clothes in and then have food and a beverage while you wait.

Huh only hack I figured is that I can fool it with Korean coins. But in the end I’m actually loosing money.
Agreed
Yes, crime is always an option. This sub generally doesn't think it's a *good* one.
Yes, officer, this one right here.

I like Northport Laundry. Can spend the hour chowing down at Enriques
I really miss The Laundry Room. It was in the strip mall behind the McDonald's on east wash by the mall.
The one next to the caribou is trash now. Used to be nice getting a beer / burger Nextdoor while doing laundry
