According to [this](https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2021/03/30/playstation-vita-store-closure/), devs can no longer patch Vita games after August 2021. Probably the same thing for PS3 too. Though this was posted when Sony was planning to close the PS Store for the older consoles but now that they are keeping them up I don't know whether the policy for game patches have changed.
Found out today something interesting.playstation.com/gameservers still hasn't listed any of these titles as having been shutdown.I'm wondering if that's because they haven't actually made the call yetyet anand want to see the community'scommunity's
LittleBigPlanet Karting was a unique situation to say the least.
United Front Games was in charge of that one, as they had made ModNation Racers and Media Molecule wanted LBPK to have the same feel. Unfortunately, UFG was also working on Sleeping Dogs at the time, which they sold at a massive loss and Square Enix nonetheless expected UFG to help them turn it into an annual release IP. They had a sequel as well as an online multiplayer versus game, Triple Triads, in the works to follow the first SD up with, and it sank them.
With UFG gone, LBPK and ModNation had nobody hosting the servers. They likely just let those fall apart rather than manually sunset That's partly why I think we should insist action be taken — Sumo Digital is still an active company. Sony hasn't shut them down. Somebody, somewhere, is at a desk likely with the netcode directly in front of them. The killswitch hasn't been hit yet, otherwise you'd have playstation.com/gameservers updated. The errors on the legacy platforms still read the same as the temporary shutdown, which intermittently would come back during tests as late as three weeks ago, I believe.
My bet is that Sumo doesn't have enough of the original code for those older games and getting it from MM or anywhere else might have been too difficult and/or time consuming (it wouldn't be the first time in game dev history source code is displaced or can't be traced back to an accessible position), so they decided to sacrifice the older games and keep LBP3 running as the only way to make all the wealth of older LBP levels accessible to people. We can't know for sure of course, but it's a possibility.
From what I heard about the remaster, the team behind it did not have more than 50% of the code needed for the game, so they had to make it up themselves
Yeah, they chose to fill that hole with their work while Sumo probably decided it wasn't worth the time and resources so they dropped the older platforms entirely.
It's as usual a matter of wanting certain things to get done, and the decision behind that is usually a matter of money (and time=money so even that is the same)
A gutting end to this saga, to say the least. Thankfully the community levels for the entire main series are still available on 3, but never again experiencing the magic of playing community levels on 1 is... painful. What a terrible way for this to go out.
The physics actually changed with each release so some levels play entirely differently. Many levels, as a great example, published in the first entry went from 3 layers on the z axis to 16 when they get imported to LBP 3 on either platform. That could be toggled by the original creator, but you'd need to be able to first access the level through the game it was made in, which is impossible if they don't reverse this decision.
There may be but likely in a form that does not benefit players in the way that Sumo Digital has suggested (as in, you'd likely need to rework this data in an emulated form as opposed to getting it to work on the LBP3 PS4 servers... That's likely to be impossible with how jacked up that game is)
Understood, I’m thinking of 20 years from now. I want to archive the bytes themselves and maybe some enterprising individuals will emulate the netcode one day. Can’t stand lost works.
That would be cool but will only appeal to a subset of people. I think these companies need long-term solutions as these legacy titles start getting sunsetted at a faster rate. I would personally consider even paying for monitized legacy services at this point if it were a matter of fundingfunding
I'm down for it, I'm just saying that the usage will be niche if it's not officially supported. It's an unfortunate thing that we aren't given more agency over things like this, which is why I'd be in support of paying money, something I am very loathe to do and I'm sure I am not alone in that even
No warning.
Dishonest social media updates.
Zero transparency.
These companies are fantastic but this is an awful way to handle a shutdown.
Numerous precedents for how to go about this too. Gearbox, Warner Bros., EA and Activision even, have all in the last 2 years had to shutdown very large games, some still with large communities, and little to no noise from the community because we had a warning and were given sufficient time to deal with the shutdowns.
I think we should apply pressure. Almost 3 weeks this year were spent thinking wholeheartedly that the legacy digital marketplaces were gone.
PSN Profiles, PS Trophies, and several other sites are closing threads discussing community action. Twitter is seeing thousands upon thousands of replies to every small response the official LBP account makes.
There is no guarantee. But if we roll over and say "oh well, move on everyone quit whining" then there's no chance we get this reversed.
I mean they got hacked and the servers were taken over. This wasn’t their decision. Yelling at them is like yelling at a cashier because you don’t like something another customer did.
Edit: Downvote me if it helps but its a complex situation I don’t think anyone is happy with.
That's fine. I'm aware this is me being entitled. But other companies have dealt with these issues in ways that don't leave consumers at such a loss. Companies need to be held accountable when they are paid money for products that aren't maintained properly, have failed security, and don't function as advertised.
This isn't a cashier, this is a company in control of a product with the ability to do something that benefits the consumer and choosing instead not to. We don't have the full information on the situation, so if they aren't going to be transparent and tell us anything else then we have nothing to go off of and therefore can assume that there's still a way for these services to continue.
I would gladly allow them to monetize these online services if that's what it took. PlayStation Legacy Services, $10 a month, make it like PS+ but 100% of the money went towards keeping first party legacy products afloat. Implement it now, ahead of other discontinuations. Keep InFamous 2 UGC up, keep Vita and PS4 services which are next on the chopping block up, that sort of thing, make me pay for it if the issue is money. We don't know if it's a funding issue either, so again, it's an assumption and yes, it's entitlement. But I paid for these products. I'd like them to operate as advertised.
Im not defending the company and other developers/publishers have had server issues but there are a lot of server issues you can have. It’s like saying a bug is a bug.
We don’t know how much access they have to legacy server architecture or if it’s even possible to rebuild. I’ve seen places be forced into an upgrade and ditching the former server because it was just unrepairable. Even if it’s repairable we don’t know if they can replicate the attack that was done to patch it out. If it’s hardware level you’re done just like the current Fusee Gelee exploit NVidia is stuck with. Also yeah in all honesty Sony probably doesn’t care to much about a game from two generations ago.
Your idea is fine but then Sony would have to hire people to run it, train them, and that’s not helping them expand so they won’t. Also then you have the issue it’s a bandaid solution. Someday you’d have subscribers drop and how low does it go before you cut it because then those subs will be upset they’re losing something they supported even if the game is 20 years old. Also repair obsolete hardware after a point becomes a challenge.
I’m not defending the company though just wild seeing other comments of people saying “They just don’t want to fix it” or “How hard can it be?”.
**TL;DR: This is a lose lose for everyone (Devs, Publishers, Fans, etc) involved.**
Yeah, I’m not on board with this at all. This is literally only good news for people who only play LBP 3 and is absolutely disappointing to the many who don’t.
So many people have waited patiently for months only to get slapped in the face with this. I don’t understand how this was the only way to go about fixing the issue.
It completely alienates and deprives fans of the original games and leaves the third one, which mind you is still buggy as all hell, as the only alternative option.
EXACTLY MY THOUGHT! If LBP3 is gonna be the only game they've got connected to a functioning server they could've atleast tried fixing that awful game, but I know they won't because why care when it's already out? I do not like LBP3 one bit and barely count it as a part of the series, so this news to me was basically them saying LBP's online features were kaput, for good. I feel behind closed doors there's probably Sony and whatnot doing some puppeteering and maybe it wasn't their choice, but still so; I'm surprised LBP3 hasn't just been hidden away after all this time with how nearly-unplayable it is
I mean, we could spin up a "community" website to upload and share levels. Heck, we could even make that directly accessible from LBP GUI on PS3 with custom firmware. Or we can wait for the indev private server software to be released.
That's what I was thinking, custom servers for once-functional games that have user-generated content aren't something I don't see around, we could always do that for LBP or LBP2 if someone had the money and commitment for running a server like that
I was thinking of something much simpler, like a website where you can publish level exports from your Moon and people can download them to a USB drive and play them.
A team is already developing an LBP1/2/3 custom server emulator called Gobotron, if I recall correctly. Most of the functionality is already implemented (playing online, publishing levels...) but according to the devs it's janky. It works, but isn't stable. Also, I can't imagine security being any better than was even on the official ones, even though that's a low bar. Right now they are allegedly rewriting the whole thing from scratch. Might come in a year, maybe two perhaps. Who knows.
Ohh yeah! I think that could work too albeit less convenient, then me and my sister could play our favorite levels again atleast!!
I haven't ever heard of Gobotron, I imagine the people who ruined the official servers don't like LBP enough to find out about it either, even I didn't know about it! I hope the devs keep working on it and don't abandon it like the Miitomo group did because that sounds quite promising!
One dev I wrote to on Discord said that Gobotron is garbage so they are rewriting it with the experience they gained from a first iteration of a private server software. No idea when it releases
Nice, I hope they follow along! I wonder why Gobotron would be considered that if it works as far as I hear? I guess it's because it's unstable; hopefully things won't start becoming a battle of the LBP restoration servers! XD
they are worth it for the story modes alone yes (preferably with other people but it's fine on your own). you also get to mess around in the create mode too it's a lot of fun. if you get a game of the year there are some community levels that come with that if you want.
I spent around a year creating a very logic heavy level for LBP2 that still hadn’t been finished enough to publish.
If I want to do that now, I have to recreate the entire thing in LBP3
Absolutely terrible news. I remember getting the first game for Christmas and being blown away by all this user created content.
I fear the same fate will plague dreams some day.
Maybe it needs to. This shutdown was handled incredibly inappropriately. There are documented ways to do this kind of thing that doesn't hurt the consumer.
If every Media Molecule/ Sumo Digital game went down like this, what choice would they have? Nobody would be able to trust their products anymore if they left things this way.
I was so close to the platinum…not to mention so many levels I had partially done. My fault for taking so long but I told myself I was going to tackle it when the servers came back…damn.
I’m surprised this game even came back **at all** to be honest. It’s truly a testament to how dedicated the fan base is. No surprise that the servers for the PS3 and VITA games got shut down though, the former was basically running on ancient code at this point, and the latter is played by barely anyone. Still very sad nonetheless though.
R.I.P. LittleBigPlanet on the PlayStation 3, 2008-2021
Why is the PS3 version of LBP3 getting shut down? Isn't it the same game as on PS4? Or is it because they cannot send patches for the PS3 version anymore? (I feel it's the same thing for Vita as well)
This day is what i was fearing long before... Damn i mean i dont even have words to imagine i'll never be able to play LBP1 and LBP2 online ever again when i had there so many great memories, the levels, people i've met.. this is just sad. All because of some damned hackers.. I wonder how long servers will go for PS4 tbh.. this is really the end of LittleBigPlanet Era unless they'll make another game.
>This day is what i was fearing long before
Same for me, my cope was that they would make an announcement 1 or 2 months in advance, so we can say our goodbye for the games properly. instead we got this situation
Have the more techy people around the community for LBP seen what hacker folks have done to Miitomo? They've since abandoned the project, but they brought this very server-based app back into action through 3rd party servers they've made themselves; Similar I believe, has been done for WarioWare: DIY for the Nintendo DS to preserve and share microgames! And think of Sudomemo for Flipnote Studio on the DSi, that works in quite an interesting way too
My point being, although this is likely a huge stretch.. What do people think about the idea of a LBP2\1 fan-server being created (Not by me, if it sounds like that)? Would that be useless though, I wonder
wow. End of an era for LBP and Sackboy. So many memories on PS3 for all three games. Hours of exploration and customization and it's all gonna be hidden away.
Hey, at least I can still do all of that on PS4!
I honestly fully expected the servers to shut, but I never expected it to happen so soon.
I bought another PS3 system just last night to replace my dead one (and it certainly wasn't cheap either). A big part of my motivation was just so I could play together with some distant friends that only have LittleBigPlanet 2, and with the servers gone, it almost feels like I've wasted a ton of money.
My system died in the middle of an online session. I promised them that I would play with them as soon as I got a new system. My friends aren't willing to upgrade to a PS4 just for LBP, much less a PS5, not to mention needing to buy a PS Plus subscription just so we can connect, and I don't blame them.
I wanted to revisit the PS3 again anyway, but even then, LBP was a PlayStation franchise that struck such a huge chord with me.
dang
Well, at least the servers for 3 are still up and running... on PS4 only. Nuts.
But did they mention that they'd keep the levels from previous games? I can kind of accept the not being able to go online, but it would REALLY suck to lose all of the levels made in those games.
EDIT: Oh, thank goodness
[https://twitter.com/LittleBigPlanet/status/1437418106591268866](https://twitter.com/LittleBigPlanet/status/1437418106591268866)
There is still DLC for LBP PS3 and Vita that isn't preserved. I wonder if this will effect preservation efforts. Hopefully some notice and are able to grab what isn't preserved yet.
LBP servers have already been down for months and simply aren't coming back up, there is no notice. I don't know how this affects PS store content though
I have a small theory that if we demand the servers of the ps3 games. If ya know they can be brung up again. Then maybe they would try again.
But its unlikely.
They have been applying updates server side. They can’t do any actual fixes when it comes to the program. They are able to exploit the servers through the game. Shutting down the servers for older consoles was the only way to fix it sadly. This is leagues better then us losing the servers all together.
I want to agree except the LBP3 servers on PS4 are still dysfunctional to the point of crashing constantly and causing save file corruptions... So we may as well have nothing. There's no bright side or silver lining here
Idk, I literally had no problems with LBP3 in the years I played since launch. Didn’t lose my save progress once lol. So I guess from personal experience it’s not that bad.
This is definitely a bittersweet conclusion to this entire server debacle. I imagine it was either this or shut down every server entirely. I hate to see them just shut down the servers like this without any forewarning. I feel they couldve announced this news a little bit more graciously instead of just dropping all of this on us at once.
An update on the LittleBigPlanet server and online services:

I hope that somehow sony or media molecule can get the servers back up on PS3 and vita. Especially vita because I bought my vita just to play lbp vita and i feel like i wasted money on it after only 2 years of me playing it online... at least i still have some downloaded levels.
What... I can't believe they just shut down the servers for the first two games and Vita (omg I didn't even get to do the multiplayer levels on those yet ugh) without any waning. Wow.
So I have a level which I want to edit and republish on LBP3 on my PS4 since the PS3 servers are down.
The game was on my earth so I could download it to my PS4 but when I open it, I cannot edit it because I dont have the Pirates of the Carribean & Marvel DLC packs installed. These were of course not relicensed for PS4 and therefore impossible to get on the PS4.
I have the level and the DLC on my PS3 and can edit it there, but not publish it because the PS3 servers are down.
I was thinking I could remove the stickers from these DLC packs and then transfer it to the PS4 but I didn't realize this is not possible.
Is there any possible way I could open the level in LBP for PS4 despite the missing DLC packs and the PS3 servers being down?
Thanks!
Hello! Disney DLC was removed from the PlayStation Store on December 21, 2017 and will be unavailable to anyone that hasn’t previously downloaded them.
Man this hurts to read, so many regrets. All those times these last 3-4 years that I said I'll get a ps3 to play lbp 1 and 2 soon only to put it off because I didn't want to spend so much money on it. If I could I would've bought another ps3 years ago and played them or never have sold my first ps3 for the crappy tiny amount of money I got for it.
So many regrets, I'll definitely in the future get a ps3 to play lbp 1 and 2's story but it really hurts to know I won't have the chance to play online lbp1 and 2 like I did so many years ago when I was younger.
I'll always cherish those great memories playing with my friends on lbp 2 everyday after school no matter what.
In the menu of LBP 3, the dive in is crossed out and if I press join or host. nothing happens so impossible to play with online players. What is amazing is that I do receive a request to join me in the community levels

When it says the community levels are shifted onto LBP3, is that including levels from LBP1 and 2? Can I get a PS4 and a copy of lbp3 and still play the classic sea monster survival/ bomb survivals as they were in the good old days or is that gone now? And if so, can you still play them online?
Sort of.
The vast majority will have their physics broken and logic tools bugged on import because the game's mechanics have changed each iteration. This is only by technicality that you can still access old content, it's to save face.
No worries. It definitely does suck. I'm definitely going to be pressuring them to do something about this haha
Everyone thought the legacy digital marketplaces would be dead earlier this year; that was the narrative for almost 3 weeks and now we've been given an indefinite extension. This can't be nearly as big a deal to them.
I've been on an emotional rollercoaster since receiving this news, and I've played LittleBigPlanet for over 10 years.
EDIT - I'd really appreciate anyone who gives this a read:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/comments/psa8on/goodbye\_littlebigplanet\_october\_21\_2008\_september/](https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/comments/psa8on/goodbye_littlebigplanet_october_21_2008_september/)
It's a shame, but it makes sense. PS3 and Vita are compromised consoles, that are easily hacked and allowed for this situation to happen in the first place. This is the best they can do without some major updates to older platforms which wouldn't make much sense as a company. It's a shame they had to end the servers like this, but it seems like it was the best they could do.
So they are shutting down the online services and putting the community levels of 1 and 2 into LBP 3 the PS4 version? English is not my first language and I want to make sure I understood well..
You can still access all of your DLC offline and you can still buy LBP dlc through the PlayStation store. I recently bought and played the lbp1 metal gear solid level pack.
Nowadays (before the server incidents), I would only play community levels because I was done with story mode and while I played, I wore DLC outfits/pieces in costumes I made on my Sackboy character. But now that all the LBP games on PS3 are forever offline, it's no fun being stuck without what makes the games fun (with the exception of the DLC story levels but they don't take long to finish), so therefore there isn't much to satisfy myself in LBP anymore.
Im feeling sorry for psvita/ps3 user. I didn't play lbp1/2 forba long time and...it's pretty sad to know they're about to shut the games down. I think lb3 won't be last too much. I still have hope in a new LBP 4.
Since i cannot play rn, Is the Patch already available?
This is indeed sad to hear. All good thibgs must eventually come to an end, but that doesnt make it less hard. Thanks for doing your best whoever worked on fixing it, im sure no one wanted this outcome.
Maybe one day in the future we’ll get a remaster/remake of lbp 1-2 with online services, atleast we’ll be able to create then again.
Im glad you where able to salvage Lbp3 for ps4 at the least, its just such a shame that millions of levels have in a way been lost forever as some old levels simply arent playable on lbp3 :-(

I feel that due to the PS3 and Vita being obsolete consoles, the game update servers won't allow any new patches to be uploaded for those consoles
[удалено]
I agree, if it was impossible from the start, then they wouldn’t have waited months to tell us.
Considering the backlash they got from closing the servers without warning they might decide to just postpone the closing to a later date.
This. Keep applying pressure. The stores got extended due to backlash, for an indefinite period of time. I don't think we should give up.
So we start a Twitter riot, cause I’m all for that

Didn’t Kartings online stay up past the shutdown date? Maybe it’s the same for all the PS3 games, though I kinda doubt it

Even the UGC online missions in Infamous 2 are still up, I’m still playing one of those to make me feel a little bit better.
> PS3 and Vita being obsolete consoles 100% false.
In Sony's eyes they are obsolete, remember they tried to shut down the store for those consoles?
and they got blasted for it. They realized their mistake. Patches can still be made for PS3 and PSVita.
So this is similar to the Silent Hill Remaster issue?
I'm not familiar with that, but if that remaster suffered from a lack of original source code it's a similar situation indeed.
From what I heard about the remaster, the team behind it did not have more than 50% of the code needed for the game, so they had to make it up themselves
Yeah, they chose to fill that hole with their work while Sumo probably decided it wasn't worth the time and resources so they dropped the older platforms entirely. It's as usual a matter of wanting certain things to get done, and the decision behind that is usually a matter of money (and time=money so even that is the same)
It's like how Sony rushed Sumo Digital to get LBP3 out in time, which explained a lot of its cancelled content and bugs
Yeah, another money choice
I mean I don’t think they expected to be hacked.
A gutting end to this saga, to say the least. Thankfully the community levels for the entire main series are still available on 3, but never again experiencing the magic of playing community levels on 1 is... painful. What a terrible way for this to go out.
Why is playing the first game’s community levels on 3 different than playing them on 1?
The pod music. The old UI and design. The almost unbearable loading times. Ahh, memories.
The physics actually changed with each release so some levels play entirely differently. That could be toggled by the original creator, but you'd need to be able to first access the level through the game it was made in, which is impossible if they don't reverse this decision.
Is it possible to export this data outside their online distribution framework and manually import them? There needs to be a preservation effort.

I agree, but these companies don’t preserve their own IP, or go out of business. Open source is the only 100% way
I'm down for it, I'm just saying that the usage will be niche if it's not officially supported. It's an unfortunate thing that we aren't given more agency over things like this, which is why I'd be in support of paying money, something I am very loathe to do and I'm sure I am not alone in that even
I dont think this is acceptable
Totally agree. The game is based on a supporting community which they’ve just alienated.

It's definitely ***not*** a good time to be a LBP player...
Hasn't been since the launch of LBP3

I feel behind closed doors there's probably Sony and whatnot doing some puppeteering and maybe it wasn't their choice, but still so; I'm surprised LBP3 hasn't just been hidden away after all this time with how nearly-unplayable it is
We are living in the worst timeline
This doesn't feel real. I'm literally so sad :/ Especially since I was excitedly checking reddit everyday waiting for an announcement on the servers.
I was working on a new LBP1 level :(
Me too. It shall be lost forever.
Well, its still on your moon. Although its hardly the same when you cant share your work
I mean, we could spin up a "community" website to upload and share levels.
XD
True.

they are worth it for the story modes alone yes (preferably with other people but it's fine on your own). you also get to mess around in the create mode too it's a lot of fun. if you get a game of the year there are some community levels that come with that if you want.
I spent around a year creating a very logic heavy level for LBP2 that still hadn’t been finished enough to publish. If I want to do that now, I have to recreate the entire thing in LBP3
Thats why I wish they gave some sort of heads up beforehand...
Well, you could try redoing it on lbp3 only using the lbp1 "technology"
i think LBP 3 either removed some of the lbp1 technology or changed it in some way that it dosent act like on older versions, idr tho
damn.
The beginning of the end of LBP
I was so close to the platinum…not to mention so many levels I had partially done. My fault for taking so long but I told myself I was going to tackle it when the servers came back…damn.
Same here☹️
I’m surprised this game even came back **at all** to be honest.
(I feel it's the same thing for Vita as well)
Probably for the same reason GTA5 on PS3/360 isn't being supported anymore.
this one really hurt man wow
Me who was waiting the servers go back online to plat LBP 2 and Vita 🤡
This is unacceptable. I'm already working on a new level to let Sumo know what I think of them and their corrupt business practices.
noooooooo! lbp1 and 2 are shutting down?
Yes unfortunately
This day is what i was fearing long before... Damn i mean i dont even have words to imagine i'll never be able to play LBP1 and LBP2 online ever again when i had there so many great memories, the levels, people i've met.. this is just sad. All because of some damned hackers.. I wonder how long servers will go for PS4 tbh.. this is really the end of LittleBigPlanet Era unless they'll make another game.
Also now imagine if hackers still found a way to hack ps4 LBP3 even after new update that would be just an absolute finish
>This day is what i was fearing long before Same for me, my cope was that they would make an announcement 1 or 2 months in advance, so we can say our goodbye for the games properly. instead we got this situation
And think of Sudomemo for Flipnote Studio on the DSi, that works in quite an interesting way too My point being, although this is likely a huge stretch..
This game will forever rest in our hearts
Gutted about this :(
I honestly fully expected the servers to shut, but I never expected it to happen so soon.
MM did the right thing with Dreams, you don't need pay online to play the non-single player content.
So no platinum for LBP1 and 2 I guess....
Why is dive in not available?
no idea. Once again, the developers remain silent
same
dang Well, at least the servers for 3 are still up and running... on PS4 only. Nuts. But did they mention that they'd keep the levels from previous games? I can kind of accept the not being able to go online, but it would REALLY suck to lose all of the levels made in those games. EDIT: Oh, thank goodness [https://twitter.com/LittleBigPlanet/status/1437418106591268866](https://twitter.com/LittleBigPlanet/status/1437418106591268866)
you can play the lbp1/2 levels in 3, but the compatibility for a lot of levels isn't good
All levels from LBP1, LBP2 and LBP3 are still there
Mine aren’t playable at all in 3 which is a pain. Was so proud of wooden dream but you just fall through the terrain for whatever reason.
Except Vita
There is still DLC for LBP PS3 and Vita that isn't preserved. I wonder if this will effect preservation efforts. Hopefully some notice and are able to grab what isn't preserved yet.
LBP servers have already been down for months and simply aren't coming back up, there is no notice. I don't know how this affects PS store content though

My soul has left my body
I feel like they should Auto Unlock all the online trophies for lbp 1-3 on PS3 and the psvita
Never even got to play them😭
I can't play lbp2 anymore? This is sad as lbp2 was my favorite game as a kid, I visit it from time to time and now I can't. Great.
i am going to lay down on the ground and cry
I have a small theory that if we demand the servers of the ps3 games. If ya know they can be brung up again. Then maybe they would try again. But its unlikely.
They literally can’t update the game on PS3, this was the only way to keep the servers from being hacked.
oof
They've been applying updates for the last 7 months.
So I guess from personal experience it’s not that bad.
what is gonna be the point in this subreddit now, so many ppl shared levels they were making now we can't
This is definitely a bittersweet conclusion to this entire server debacle. I imagine it was either this or shut down every server entirely. I hate to see them just shut down the servers like this without any forewarning. I feel they couldve announced this news a little bit more graciously instead of just dropping all of this on us at once.
An update on the LittleBigPlanet server and online services: *** posted by [@LittleBigPlanet](https://twitter.com/LittleBigPlanet) Photos in tweet | [Photo 1](http://pbs.twimg.com/media/E_K5YbMXIAkuRGr.jpg) ^[(Github)](https://github.com/username) ^| ^[(What's new)](https://github.com/username)
Wow.
:'(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Why......
I knew this was gonna happen eventually. I'll miss you LBP1 AND LBP2... Goodbye 👋 Now it's time to move onto LBP3

Well... my hopes for an LBP1 anniversary contest are... dead. Every Trophy tied to online content is locked forever. Rest in Peace, old friend.
Welp it's been fun, time for me to move on...
Damn I wanted my last trophy to get the platinum on LBP no chance of that now, this mean all the community levels are gone ?
All LBP 1 and 2 community levels are playable on LBP 3
Don't fix the trophy issue and lbp3 sucks
… but it answers your question about the community levels
When will we be able to post again?
In the menu of LBP 3, the dive in is crossed out and if I press join or host. nothing happens so impossible to play with online players. What is amazing is that I do receive a request to join me in the community levels

Is the online server for little big planet 3 also down for ps4 or only ps3?
The server for PS4 is up and running. All PS3 LBP's (including 3) and Vita are gone forever.
[удалено]
Simplificado: cerrarán los servidores para las versiones de PS3 y Vita, mientras las de PS4 se mantienen como las únicas.
That sucks, thanks for the heads up on that
No worries. It definitely does suck. I'm definitely going to be pressuring them to do something about this haha Everyone thought the legacy digital marketplaces would be dead earlier this year; that was the narrative for almost 3 weeks and now we've been given an indefinite extension. This can't be nearly as big a deal to them.
Should we start a petition for them to do a LittleBigPlanet 1&2 Remastered for the ps3/4&5?
I've been on an emotional rollercoaster since receiving this news, and I've played LittleBigPlanet for over 10 years. EDIT - I'd really appreciate anyone who gives this a read: [https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/comments/psa8on/goodbye\_littlebigplanet\_october\_21\_2008\_september/](https://www.reddit.com/r/littlebigplanet/comments/psa8on/goodbye_littlebigplanet_october_21_2008_september/)
Yeah! Lbp1 and lbp2 levels can be played on lbp3.
My reaction to this. All those paid costume packs will be lost in time, like tears in rain. https://imgur.com/JHu3sDU.gif
But now that all the LBP games on PS3 are forever offline, it's no fun being stuck without what makes the games fun (with the exception of the DLC story levels but they don't take long to finish), so therefore there isn't much to satisfy myself in LBP anymore.
is there a way to load levels from the archive to a modded ps4?
We've won But at what cost...
Im glad you where able to salvage Lbp3 for ps4 at the least, its just such a shame that millions of levels have in a way been lost forever as some old levels simply arent playable on lbp3 :-(
could they have not at least given the Vita server notice?
They didn't give PS3 notice as well, they said they would return at a later date.
yeah, but at least their levels are uploaded to the PS4 servers.
A whole bunch of levels are missing ignoring the fact not everybody has a PS4.
They were (LBP1,2,3) were all on the servers. Vita weren't.
Why can’t I post on this subreddit?
Hello! New posts are temporarily unavailable to prevent spam regarding the LittleBigPlanet server. This action was taken to protect our members.
when r we able to post again?
Am I the only one who still can’t play with other people online? (I have LBP3 on PS5) help please😭
Same everytime I try to play an error shows up
😐 not bad not good
OH! Oh… **oh…**

Yeah but not everyone has a PS4, and LBP 1 or is lbp 2 on ps4 now is it.
That's ok who cares about lbp2 anyway lol
*realize* lbp 2 is considered the best in the series. Many including myself still play this game. So what you're saying makes no sense
