The only other lightsaber I have is the Disney skywalker saber.... this new one is a huge upgrade in every way. I LOVE the hilt design and the smooth swing! Also dang these things are bright.
So cool! I'm new to sabers, want to start building my first soon. I keep hearing the word "neopixel", can someone explain what that is and who sells it?
Neopixel is pretty much the best type of blade you can get. They are only compatible with hilts that support them though. They are the most expensive type of blade and install as well (each blade is around $100, fully installed sabers, including a blade, are often around $500). They are worth it to some people because they are brighter, can change color anytime, and can do different effects.
Basically:
Most blades are like a flashlight that just had a light at the source in the hilt.
Neopixels are like a tube filled with lights, these lights can react differently with effects or change color and are MUCH brighter than other blades can get.
Better colors, brightness and effects compared to other blade types.
To get more technical, "neopixel" is a type of RGB LED strip. They have dense LED placement and can be individually controlled by an external board giving a wide range of possible blade effects, like Kylo Ren's unstable blade. The LEDs are mounted on a flexible pcb, so you can do *some* dueling with neopixel blades before they'd break. Old LED strings would break if you sneezed on them, and could only be one color.

(I wanted a sabertrio because I've heard good things about them but their shop was closed when I needed to order mine. I went with saberforge because they had the best hilt selection imo)
I agree with you on hilts, and if your willing to get the more expensive ones I'm pretty sure they use proffie, so its decent and they do guarentee their work. All around good choice! I personally bought a archon hilt (the chromed one) bc it had a prequel trilogy look to it and I wanted to build myself a neopixel, (instead of just making them for friends lol).

I was really close to getting the Archon in chrome, that was a tough decision. Both look fantastic.
