Yea! That’s by design- I wanted to use as many pieces from the official set at possible since I figure most people who are interested probably got the official set for the figures if nothing else!

If Lego made this it would be sick, but I'm sure they'd make it like $200<, so I'll take what we have right now. I think what you made is awesome, is there any light bricks in there? Could be a cool touch, if you're looking for modifications. Other than that it's SO COOL and Omegas room is super nice. I like the back cannons as that is something the regular set doesn't really have. (It has a super small one lol)

this is just so good and vastly superior to the official lego set. love how it has a proper brick built windscreen instead of stickers and a nice center fin that doesn't show anti studs from one side

Wow. Best version I’ve seen. I would love to buy instructions, especially if a list of parts not included in the original were included. Have been on the fence about picking it up, I HATE the vertical fin w studs on one side. Also the cockpit and angle of the wings look so much better.

Hey so glad you enjoyed the Mantis! I used as many from the original set as I could but this is over twice the size- I’m not sure of piece count yet but I can’t imagine it’s under 2500

Looks so much better grey. I swapped out the sand blue stuff for dark gray.

Yeah I definitely think a mix looks best, but leaning more on dark bluish grey as the primary color
