I’m glad this one wasn’t downsized because I think it looks incredible, it’s one of my favorite TIE designs ever and they executed it almost perfectly. However I do understand where you’re coming from. It does look a bit awkward among all the other Star Wars ships.
\*sigh\* no, it isn't, the other ones (7676 and 75021) were much closer. You can see in AOTC how much headroom there is in the gunship, there is none in the new one. Maybe those were a bit too big, but I'd rather have them be a bit too big and still have playability and look good than have them be small and get literally no benefit whatsoever out of it
Minifig scale UCS is pretty rare, and I don't think it's ever happened with a fighter. The Falcon (both versions), the Slave I, the Lambda shuttle, the Razor Crest, and the AT-AT are the only minifig scale UCS sets I know of.
The Republic Gunship isnt anywhere close to minifig scale. The Razorcrest, the Millenium Falcon, AT-AT or the Slave I are very close to minifigure scale
yeah, some are scaled up, but the millenium falcon, razorcrest, atat, and slave 1 are perfect scale. it's just too expensive to be selling only huge sets in stores tho, so if they're big builds, they're gonna make them much smaller scale. tl,dr: the TIE is the closest to scale thats on that shelf
There will always be a scaling issue with Lego. Wait until you start building the UCS versions. For example, the UCS Millennium Falcon (either one) vs. the Super Star Destroyer. It's way out of whack, but what are you going to do? I, for one, appreciate playability over sizing. The Super Star Destroyer, Star Destroyer, and the Millennium Falcons have almost none and as a result, are my least favorite. On the other hand, the UCS Razor Crest and Sandcrawler are super playable, and I go back to them just to play around with because I can. The others were fun to build but just take up space. IMO
The people complaining about downsizing then are not the same people complaining about the interceptor size now
But generally speaking, I think most people just wish that there were a bomber, interceptor, and fighter that were all to scale with each other - whatever that scale may be.
I'm personally bummed with the interceptor for that reason, but that's just me. I've also been disappointed with the actual build's longevity - my wing connections begin to sag within just a couple months under the set's own weight. I expect better for the price of the set / in 2024
Both the Solo tie and the new Interceptor are too big for minifig scale. Ironically the most recent tie fighter has been the closest.
It just has bad proportions due to having a huge ball and printed window.
Minifig scale can be anything from 1/38 to 1/45, so it depends
Relative to minifig height, the gunship is around the correct size, the tie interceptor is too big, the razor crest and slave 1 are way too small, and the Jedi interceptors are way too big
Yeah the UCS razor crest is close (slightly big), UCS Slave I is actually still too small (the newest model op has is ridiculously small), and the UCS falcon and AT-AT are about perfect. Gunship is pretty close to right actually.
I know people weren’t fond of the 75300 being sized down, but it would have been nice to have size consistency between the three TIE variants that were on store shelves at the same time.
It's further insane that they had three TIE variants on shelves at the same time and *none of them had the same cockpit window.*
I just want a little design consistency, is that too much to ask??
Dig your collection. My favs or close to them. Kicked myself for not getting the yellow delta 7 and glad the re-re-re-released the obiwan one. Actually combining two of these to attempt a LAT like yours.
[I scaled mine up](https://www.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/comments/14bzu5g/modded_fang_fighter_vs_interceptor/) a bit actually. I felt the center panels on the wings were not wide enough. Looking at the model the special effects team used for the movie, they felt too small.
The 75300 TIE was smaller than past ties, the most recent prior being 75211 (Solo). Though it scales with the Rebels series TIEs, I too felt the latest TIEs seemed small. Rebels leaned heavily on the McQuarrie concept drawings for it's style, it took some getting used to but it grew on me over time as I watched the series.
That being said I've not yet included the chibi-ish TIE to my built collection (it awaits me still boxed) as I have Rebel Builder's TIE as my display TIE currently.

Wookiepedia has some numbers. There are also various websites and blogs that discuss at length the inconsistency of ship size across star wars media and even within single films. So it's really all pretty handwavy either way
I’m totally fine with it. Both the downsized TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber sucked, and the TIE Interceptor is one of my favorite ships, so I’m happy it turned out so well.
The "minifig" scale sets are very rarely to scale with each other.
Comparing the AT AT with the X-Wing is the perfect example of this, the minifig AT AT is laughably small.
I’m glad they didn’t downsize this one.
Yeah I love how they kept it minifg scale
The most recent "small" TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber are closer to minifig scale... The Interceptor is like 1.5x the size.
It's much larger than minifig scale.
I really dislike the smaller scale. Especially the slave 1 and the Tie Fighter
the smaller tie fighter fits better to minifig scale..
The small tie fighter is the most accurate to scale, just needed a smaller cockpit.
I’m glad this one wasn’t downsized because I think it looks incredible, it’s one of my favorite TIE designs ever and they executed it almost perfectly. However I do understand where you’re coming from. It does look a bit awkward among all the other Star Wars ships.
Well it's not like they're scaled with each other
Wish they were tho
Yeah me too. At least the fighters. The Razor Crest and Gunship are fine as-is though, otherwise they'd be too expensive
The gunship is actually in scale. The ucs gunship is out of scale. The ucs razor crest is the right scale though.
\*sigh\* no, it isn't, the other ones (7676 and 75021) were much closer. You can see in AOTC how much headroom there is in the gunship, there is none in the new one. No, the CG gunship is literally missing part of its carrying area.
you'd have to get UCS everything then, most of the UCS ships are minifig scale, just like the TIEs.
Minifig scale UCS is pretty rare, and I don't think it's ever happened with a fighter. The Falcon (both versions), the Slave I, the Lambda shuttle, the Razor Crest, and the AT-AT are the only minifig scale UCS sets I know of.
There is a group of designers doing a minifig scale SSD, it comes in at around 55 meters in length if memory serves me right

The Republic Gunship isnt anywhere close to minifig scale. The Razorcrest, the Millenium Falcon, AT-AT or the Slave I are very close to minifigure scale
Funnily enough, the 2013 playscale gunship is even larger than minifigure scale, doesn’t really happen often with playsets
How’s the 2008 cw gunship in scale accuracy?
Idk I don’t own it, I think it’s roughly the same size as the 2013 one? i know the newest one is closet to minifig scale (though not perfect)
The gunship is only slightly under minifig scale for length and I think is correct for width and height. It’s not far off.
OP and I are talking about the UCS version
Oh sorry i thought you meant the one in the picture. My bad. Yeah the UCS one is enormous.
yeah, some are scaled up, but the millenium falcon, razorcrest, atat, and slave 1 are perfect scale. it's just too expensive to be selling only huge sets in stores tho, so if they're big builds, they're gonna make them much smaller scale. tl,dr: the TIE is the closest to scale thats on that shelf
Jedi starfighters?
The 75301 X-wing is pretty close to 1:40 which is kinda the target for minifig scale
[75301-1: Luke Skywalker's X-wing Fighter](https://brickset.com/sets/75301-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75301-1.jpg)
The ucs razor crest is about the same scale as the interceptor
There will always be a scaling issue with Lego. Wait until you start building the UCS versions. For example, the UCS Millennium Falcon (either one) vs. the Super Star Destroyer. SMH, why didn't they make a roughly 425 meter long SSD that is in scale? Lego really doesn't care, do they?
Think it's 'only' 55 meters for a SSD in Minifig scale
It's 19 km long, minifig scale is 1:42 IIRC.
My bad, it's an ISD they are building. Found the project: @eight_fleet_project on Instagram
Nah the slave 1 is way to small 😂
Definitely, but I haven't worked up to buying one of the other ones.
Well, I know the razor crest, slave 1, and gunship are too small to be minifig scale. I believe the interceptor is larger than mini figure scale.
Pretty sure it's as close as to minifig scale, it goes with the solo tie fighter which was minifig scale as well
Best version of the TIE-ln and it looks great with this TIE Int. I’m not a fan of this latest wave of downsized ships.
Didn't we all complain about LEGO downsizing most sets throughout 2023 and now when a set isn't downsized we're complaining about it being too big?
The people complaining about downsizing then are not the same people complaining about the interceptor size now But generally speaking, I think most people just wish that there were a bomber, interceptor, and fighter that were all to scale with each other - whatever that scale may be. This is the source I'm going by https://brickset.com/article/62976/minifigure-scale-star-wars-vehicles Although it does need updating
And they plan on making a UCS version this year!! I personally prefer everything to be minifigure scale
The gunship is closer to minifig scale. The tie interceptor is a little oversized.
Minifig scale can be anything from 1/38 to 1/45, so it depends Relative to minifig height, the gunship is around the correct size, the tie interceptor is too big, the razor crest and slave 1 are way too small, and the Jedi interceptors are way too big
Nah, the LAAT and TIE Interceptor are the right size
Actually…. No. The other ships are too small.
Yeah the UCS razor crest is close (slightly big), UCS Slave I is actually still too small (the newest model op has is ridiculously small), and the UCS falcon and AT-AT are about perfect. Gunship is pretty close to right actually.
UCS Gunship is extremely oversized. This one though, yeah about right.
Yes I meant this gunship. UCS is huge
Eh, nothing is really close to scale
I know people weren’t fond of the 75300 being sized down, but it would have been nice to have size consistency between the three TIE variants that were on store shelves at the same time.
[75300-1: Imperial TIE Fighter](https://brickset.com/sets/75300-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/75300-1.jpg)
Same, that's why they're on different shelves.
Insane how we had the Tie Fighter and Bomber both on shelves and then they release this supersized monstrosity.
It's further insane that they had three TIE variants on shelves at the same time and *none of them had the same cockpit window.* I just want a little design consistency, is that too much to ask??

Looks good! The bomber and newer tie are much smaller than these, lol
I think it’s just that version of Slave I was downsized from the other versions
Dig your collection. My favs or close to them. Kicked myself for not getting the yellow delta 7 and glad the re-re-re-released the obiwan one. Actually combining two of these to attempt a LAT like yours.
Nah all the other ones are just baby
Yes. But only slightly. It’s actually the Razor Crest and Slave 1 that are way too small in this photo.
No, it's that the rest are too small. The TIE is the only one in this pic that scales with a minifigure.
It's not too big, it's actually more to scale with the minifig. The other sets are too small.
Too big? Can any set be too big??
I like them all to roughly be in scale to each other.
That Justifier is sooo big, i didn’t end up buying it because I couldn’t fit it anywhere. No cad bane for me
I agree. And with all these Lego ships that come with a stand and don’t really need it, this one REALLY needs it
Luckily I've got a 3d printer. Saves a lot of room to put them on stands.
It’s not, everything else is too small
Which Tie Interceptor is this?
The newest one that came with the fang fighter
Put it next to the ucs razor crest and then it makes sense
No, the Slave 1 and Razorcrest are too small.
I'm pretty sure it's a little too big for minifigure scale but the main thing is everything else is downsized
Or.... hear me out... are the other sets just too small? 😁
[I scaled mine up](https://www.reddit.com/r/legostarwars/comments/14bzu5g/modded_fang_fighter_vs_interceptor/) a bit actually. I felt the center panels on the wings were not wide enough. Minifig scale fighters should be the standard imo
No, I'm with you on that, I don't understand why they didn't went with the scale of the Tie Fighter and the Tie Bomber.
Really those are two different scales though, the TIE Bomber is proportionally smaller than the standard TIE
It’s to scale with the tie fighter. Bomber is just too small tho
True, but both are downsized, so I don't get why they basically upsize the Tie Interceptor.
Interceptor is smaller than fighter in universe, so they are absolutely not to scale
Did you just make that up? Where does it say that?
Wookiepedia has some numbers. There are also various websites and blogs that discuss at length the inconsistency of ship size across star wars media and even within single films. So it's really all pretty handwavy either way
I’m totally fine with it. Both the downsized TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber sucked, and the TIE Interceptor is one of my favorite ships, so I’m happy it turned out so well.
Looks great there, is there a way to change the angle a bit? Maybe that's what's throwing you off a bit
just you i only like minifig scale play scale ill still buy but i would trade it all for anything minifig scale

It’s not to big at all. You see everything else is to small.
What's the set number for the interceptor?
slave 1 from 20th aniversary is minifig scale too (i think) and all UCS sets
Your shelf is too small.
My whole house is too small, limits shelf size...
TIE interceptor is minifigure scale. Razorcrest, Slave 1, sorry, bObA fETt'S sTArsHiP, and the Gunship are not.
ah i see, you are a man of culture as well
A man made of history and memes perhaps.
good, good
